The Animal Clinic of Billings has been taking care of our region's companion animals and their families since its founding in 1981 by Ken Brown, DVM.
The Animal Surgery Clinic opened in 2005 as an addition to the original clinic and reflects our commitment to provide high quality diagnostic services, medical, and surgical care for the sick and injured.
Physical Rehabilitation Therapy Center: We offer patients, especially those recovering from spinal and orthopedic surgeries, care and services not previously available in Montana or other states in our region.
Pain Management: We believe strongly in preventing and managing anxiety and pain in our patients. We can help alleviate pain caused by surgery, chronic arthritic pain, and acute pain as in the case of trauma.

- Pets with certain chronic diseases like osteoarthritis
- Former physical rehabilitation therapy patients
- Working and sporting dogs with a goal to promote optimal performance
Physical Rehabilitation Therapy: We utilize therapeutic exercise and a variety of other methods to improve function and promote healing. Physical rehab therapy helps decrease pain, improve cardiovascular fitness, and joint mobility, muscle strength and endurance. Companion animals, like their humans, often require physical rehabilitation to recover the ability to walk, regain the use of a limb, and to promote overall well-being after a serious injury or major orthopedic or spinal surgery.
To accomplish our physical therapy treatment goals, we combine:
- Low Impact exercise on land and water
- Manual therapy (joint mobilization)
- Massage
- Range of motion exercises
- Weight shifting and balance activities
- Heat and/or cold pack application
- Neuromuscular electrical stimulation
- Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS)
- Therapeutic ultrasound,
- Therapeutic laser therapy
- Swimming using our state of the art underwater treadmill
Boarding:
Dogs love our spacious kennels, outside dog run, and attentive veterinary staff.
Cat Nap Inn: Quiet, comfortable condominium lodging for cats. Large area for fun and safe playtime. Supervised by a veterinary staff.

My furry friend has unfortunately undergone multiple surgeries, from infections, to bone reconstruction, plate removals. I trust Ken Brown and his staff with my dog over anyone in the state. Not only are they friendly and extremely knowledgeable, but I’m always impressed with how thorough they are with diagnostics and personal attention, keeping me in the loop every step of the way. I highly suggest this clinic to anyone for their pet problems, big or small. A+ service.

I highly recommend this business. I took my dog to a veterinarian at a different hospital and the vet misdiagnosed five ruptured discs and told me it was just a common stomach ache, even after taking multiple X-rays of her spine. A few days later my dog was unable to move and the back half of her body had become paralyzed. I took her to Dr. Brown and he immediately pinpointed the problem and rushed her into surgery. Now she runs and jumps like nothing ever happened and you'd never be able to tell she's had five discs removed. Dr. Brown and the staff could not have possibly been more awesome, helpful or available to my needs and it was exceedingly clear they were far more knowledgeable and caring of animals than the first clinic I visited.

One dog died within 12 hours of being released from them. They charged $1800.00 for 4 days observation and some treatment. The other had surgery on soft palate and two wks and $1400.00 later still cant breath. Never have i had a worst experience. I am so pissed, i have to start over with a new vet.

January 2017, Dr. Brown performed a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) on my 7 year old boxer. This surgery gave Rocko back the life he enjoys of walking and running at Riverfront Park and in the mountains. Dr. Brown and his staff demonstrated their caring and concern for Rocko with each visit to the Animal Clinic of Billings. I highly recommend this team and facility.

After three vets and 2 years of x-rays, cortisone shots, PRP injections into my dogs elbow, I was sent here. These folks are not only incredibly caring, but saved my dog from constant pain. They immediately ordered a catscan and saw, what no others did, that my dog had floating bone chips in his elbow. They scheduled a surgery for 2 days later. With some PRP and glucosamine injections over the next months, my 11 year old golden can now do 3-5 miles of easy hiking. Thank you Dr. Brown!

I would not recommend this business. I was charged $1500 for antibiotics, IV fluid and an X-ray. I brought my dog here for a suspected bowel obstruction. She passed the sock that was causing the problem at the office. The vet convinced me to keep her overnight for observation. When I picked her up the next day the bill was $1500. I was stunned and appalled.

We were not unhappy with my previous vet. Scheduling difficulties proved to many. I have trained K9's for roughly 17 years. Part profession but mostly passion. We came to the Animal Clinic of Billing through recommendation of other handlers, and specifically to Dr. Massic. Our experience was beyond anything we could have hoped for. Our particular K9 member of our family is exceptionally rare in the US and finding a good fit, with an office that had dealt with foreign documents (ours are in Romanian) and knowing our Dog will be traveling via flights in and outside the US. THE ENTIRE STAFF was amazing. From the first Meet and greet to his first procedure. The follow up and the friendliness goes above and beyond. We've literally called every other trainer and handler we know to pass on Dr. Massic and the entire staff's reputation there and our experience.

Not a good experience. Took my very pained dog in to be evaluated for surgery. The attending vet was wonderful but just comes on occasion. The Tech staff handled my dog roughly and he is now very traumatized and forever fearful after being subjected to being muzzled and over sedated by unprofessional handlers. Was quoted 300 and charged 600 for labs and testing. Think carefully before handing a much loved animal over to just anyone. I would not recommend this place.

It's never easy losing a pet, especially when the decision has to made as fast as we made ours. The team we had Friday night made such a devastating circumstance a little more bearable simply by having a heart. Not only for my family, but most importantly for our Georgie. They were gentle and sweet to him, and understanding to our small children and the hot mess we all were. I can't thank them enough for their compassion. Today a single yellow rose was delivered to our house to show their sympathy for the loss of our family member. Our hearts are broken, but our sweet boy was in good hands. Thank you for caring for animals first, and money second.

In the past 3 months I have had occasion to take 2 animals to the Animal Clinic. In both cases we were treated exceptionally as they sought to provide options for us that we could live with and afford. In the second case, we were provided with an estimate. Sadly, the required care was well beyond what was expected, including several nights remaining on site after surgery. Regretting the substantial difference between estimate (not to be confused with a quote) and final cost, the vet discounted our bill substantially. She then followed up with us via phone a few days later.
Pets are expensive and I will now purchase pet insurance. That said, I cannot recommend The Animal Clinic of Billings too highly.

We had a dog here this past week for surgery. The quoted price for the surgery was $3500 but when we got the bill it was $3808. I really need to understand how this happens because if I quote a price, I have to honor it. Vets are not special, they are not any better than other surgeons, and yet it seems as if they have no conscience when it comes to misleading customers. After driving 600 miles to have the surgery, you can't very well turn around and go home, and then to have the price increased by more than 10%, well that is shameful.
Be sure you use your credit card so you can deny the charge if it isn't what was promised.

Integrity and compassion is what you get when you take your pets to Animal Clinic of Billings. My experience was above and beyond what you would expect from a facility caring for your pet. There are not adequate enough words to describe how kind, compassionate, and diligent they have been this past week caring my little dachshund Yogi. I came to them late Friday night in tears and was treated warmly, thoroughly given a plan of care, and never charged or convinced I needed expensive, unnecessary services. When conservative measures failed and he got worse overnight they were calm, stepped in, and my little baby boy was kept comfortable over the weekend before MRI and surgery. The staff has communicated with me, never made me feel rushed, and you can tell their concern is for the animals and not the bottom dollar. They even sent over photos to me today since it was still too soon after surgery for me to see him. I can't thank everyone enough. I just moved to Billings two weeks ago and am so thankful in my time of need to have found such amazing and compassionate care for my best little friend.

Just this past year I recommended them to my mom who had an older dog and when it was time for her to let go the Dr. and all the staff were so supportive and understanding. Later that week my mom actually received a flower from Ganians with a note from the animal clinic. I will never go to another vet!

I switched to the Animal Clinic about 10 years ago, when I needed a second opinion on the health of one of my dogs. He was near death and our vet wasn't able to help him. I took him to the Animal Clinic, and he was on his way to wellness within a week. He lived to be 18 years old.
The staff and doctors are always caring with my dogs and always willing to answer all of my questions. They never try to force treatment or procedures on me. They simply give me the information and let me decide. I find them to be very thorough and knowledgeable in all areas of veterinary medicine.
I do believe their prices are a little higher than some other vets around town, but the care that they give is worth the extra cost. The Animal Clinic is fantastic! I believe they really care about their patients and strive to give the best care possible.

My furry friend has unfortunately undergone multiple surgeries, from infections, to bone reconstruction, plate removals. I trust Ken Brown and his staff with my dog over anyone in the state. Not only are they friendly and extremely knowledgeable, but I’m always impressed with how thorough they are with diagnostics and personal attention, keeping me in the loop every step of the way. I highly recommend this business. I took my dog to a veterinarian at a different hospital and the vet misdiagnosed five ruptured discs and told me it was just a common stomach ache, even after taking multiple X-rays of her spine. A few days later my dog was unable to move and the back half of her body had become paralyzed. I took her to Dr. Brown and he immediately pinpointed the problem and rushed her into surgery. Now she runs and jumps like nothing ever happened and you'd never be able to tell she's had five discs removed. Dr. Brown and the staff could not have possibly been more awesome, helpful or available to my needs and it was exceedingly clear they were far more knowledgeable and caring of animals than the first clinic I visited.

One dog died within 12 hours of being released from them. They charged $1800.00 for 4 days observation and some treatment. The other had surgery on soft palate and two wks and $1400.00 later still cant breath. Never have i had a worst experience. I am so pissed, i have to start over with a new vet.

After three vets and 2 years of x-rays, cortisone shots, PRP injections into my dogs elbow, I was sent here. These folks are not only incredibly caring, but saved my dog from constant pain. They immediately ordered a catscan and saw, what no others did, that my dog had floating bone chips in his elbow. They scheduled a surgery for 2 days later. With some PRP and glucosamine injections over the next months, my 11 year old golden can now do 3-5 miles of easy hiking. Thank you Dr. Brown!

I would not recommend this business. I was charged $1500 for antibiotics, IV fluid and an X-ray. I brought my dog here for a suspected bowel obstruction. She passed the sock that was causing the problem at the office. The vet convinced me to keep her overnight for observation. When I picked her up the next day the bill was $1500. I was stunned and appalled.

We were not unhappy with my previous vet. Scheduling difficulties proved to many. I have trained K9's for roughly 17 years. Part profession but mostly passion. We came to the Animal Clinic of Billing through recommendation of other handlers, and specifically to Dr. Massic. Our experience was beyond anything we could have hoped for. Our particular K9 member of our family is exceptionally rare in the US and finding a good fit, with an office that had dealt with foreign documents (ours are in Romanian) and knowing our Dog will be traveling via flights in and outside the US. THE ENTIRE STAFF was amazing. From the first Meet and greet to his first procedure. The follow up and the friendliness goes above and beyond. We've literally called every other trainer and handler we know to pass on Dr. Massic and the entire staff's reputation there and our experience.

Not a good experience. Took my very pained dog in to be evaluated for surgery. The attending vet was wonderful but just comes on occasion. The Tech staff handled my dog roughly and he is now very traumatized and forever fearful after being subjected to being muzzled and over sedated by unprofessional handlers. Was quoted 300 and charged 600 for labs and testing. Think carefully before handing a much loved animal over to just anyone. I would not recommend this place.

It's never easy losing a pet, especially when the decision has to made as fast as we made ours. The team we had Friday night made such a devastating circumstance a little more bearable simply by having a heart. Not only for my family, but most importantly for our Georgie. They were gentle and sweet to him, and understanding to our small children and the hot mess we all were. I can't thank them enough for their compassion. Today a single yellow rose was delivered to our house to show their sympathy for the loss of our family member. Our hearts are broken, but our sweet boy was in good hands. Thank you for caring for animals first, and money second.

In the past 3 months I have had occasion to take 2 animals to the Animal Clinic. In both cases we were treated exceptionally as they sought to provide options for us that we could live with and afford. In the second case, we were provided with an estimate. Sadly, the required care was well beyond what was expected, including several nights remaining on site after surgery. Regretting the substantial difference between estimate (not to be confused with a quote) and final cost, the vet discounted our bill substantially. She then followed up with us via phone a few days later.
Pets are expensive and I will now purchase pet insurance. That said, I cannot recommend The Animal Clinic of Billings too highly.

We had a dog here this past week for surgery. The quoted price for the surgery was $3500 but when we got the bill it was $3808. I really need to understand how this happens because if I quote a price, I have to honor it. Vets are not special, they are not any better than other surgeons, and yet it seems as if they have no conscience when it comes to misleading customers. After driving 600 miles to have the surgery, you can't very well turn around and go home, and then to have the price increased by more than 10%, well that is shameful.
Be sure you use your credit card so you can deny the charge if it isn't what was promised.

There are not adequate enough words to describe how kind, compassionate, and diligent they have been this past week caring my little dachshund Yogi. I came to them late Friday night in tears and was treated warmly, thoroughly given a plan of care, and never charged or convinced I needed expensive, unnecessary services. When conservative measures failed and he got worse overnight they were calm, stepped in, and my little baby boy was kept comfortable over the weekend before MRI and surgery. The staff has communicated with me, never made me feel rushed, and you can tell their concern is for the animals and not the bottom dollar. They even sent over photos to me today since it was still too soon after surgery for me to see him. I can't thank everyone enough. I just moved to Billings two weeks ago and am so thankful in my time of need to have found such amazing and compassionate care for my best little friend.

I switched to the Animal Clinic about 10 years ago, when I needed a second opinion on the health of one of my dogs. He was near death and our vet wasn't able to help him. I took him to the Animal Clinic, and he was on his way to wellness within a week. He lived to be 18 years old.
The staff and doctors are always caring with my dogs and always willing to answer all of my questions. They never try to force treatment or procedures on me. They simply give me the information and let me decide. I find them to be very thorough and knowledgeable in all areas of veterinary medicine.
I do believe their prices are a little higher than some other vets around town, but the care that they give is worth the extra cost. The Animal Clinic is fantastic! I believe they really care about their patients and strive to give the best care possible.
