So I have lived in many states across the country and in Europe. I have traveled with and boarded my animals in all of the areas. I have had many people care for my animals......Val Verde with Dr Hord and his staff are by far the most caring and understanding of all I have ever known. They care for all of my animals and my children’s as well. Our personalities are such that Val Verde has had to be quite ingenious to say the least, from my dogs eating things they shouldn’t to ACL repairs. Having said that, they all put up with and care for us like we are their own. You can’t ask for more than that. We feel like family and there is nothing more important. We were told our granddog would never walk again. She broke her back last June. Dr. Hord and Trent didn’t agree. With Outstanding therapies including a water treadmill. Little Miss Boo is has gained a lot of movement. She has gone from not being able to move anything from her rib cage down; to walking in the treadmill and getting up on her back legs to bark at the TV or say hello when we come home. I only trust Val Verde with my Boxer, Boxer/Lab and adopted fat farm cat. Dr Hord is one of the most amazing Veterinarian's I have met. He is very proactive with our Boxer to do everything we can to keep her a health girl. The entire staff has always been fantastic taking care of all of our fur babies, and a friend of ours that works here has sent us pictures of them after procedures to let us know they were finished and doing good. When my 11 yr old Chihuahua displayed back pain, Dr. Hord and his team went the extra mile to determine what was wrong. In the end, it was diagnosed as bladder cancer. Upon operating, the doctor discovered it was more like an ulcer and it was removed with no ill effects. The staff there also stepped up and helped me place my father's elderly dog into foster care when my father needed to go into a nursing home. The dog had special needs and they bent over backwards to take care of it so my father didn't have to lose his friend and his home on the same day. I moved away from the area and still drive the 30 minutes to their clinic b/c I wouldn't want my best friend to be seen by anyone else. Read Less

The vet is okay but not the most knowledgeable we have had over the years. He became very defensive when we told him we had no electronic reminder for vaccinations as he insisted we did. He was so slow to realize what was wrong with our dog, we had no choice but to put him down. We changed vets right after that. We do not recommend Val Verde Animal Hospital for their inadequacies and their expensive fees. They cost much more than they are worth. Read Less

Dr. Hord has been our vet for 20 years and 3 dogs. He saved our second dog's life when he diagnosed her with Addison's Disease - adding 7 years onto her life. He has a true love and compassion for animals that you can see in his treatment and affection for all of his patients. Picture this: You're 2 days and 650 miles into a 13-day, 3,000-mile family vacation, and your 4-legged family member gets sick. What do you do? We contacted our home vet and our breeder for advice. Both said to get her seen "today." We've never been to Omaha and don't know anyone there, so we did what most of you would do. We started reading Yelp reviews. Most of the reviews were old, but the ones for Val Verde were relatively recent, and overwhelmingly positive. I called them at 9 am, and got an appointment for 11:30 am. Everyone there was genuinely kind, professional, and exceptionally efficient. We saw Dr. Mike Hord within minutes. He took his time with us and thoroughly observed our dog while we chatted. Many vets spend so little time with animals that they don't get past the animal's initial instinct to appear normal. He  explored every option without doing a single invasive & stressful test. He gave us drugs and products that covered the gamut of possible diagnoses. Dr. Hord gave us the resources & confidence to continue on our vacation. He knew where we were headed and told us where to get care if things didn't improve. Happily, things did improve. I cannot say enough good things about his practice in general, and Dr. Hord in particular. The prices are extremely fair, the staff is exceptionally caring, and Dr. Hord is exceedingly competent and likable. Read Less

I have taken my kitty to Dr. Turner three times now. She is always gentle and very knowledgeable. Plus, they don't charge an arm and a leg for an office visit, which is great for those of us with older pets who need more frequent checkups. I highly recommend them! Read Less

I've been taking my dogs to Dr. Hord since he started his business. He was especially wonderful when my dog Russell was getting older and I was having to visit the office more frequently. When I lost Russell, he seemed as upset as I was. He and his staff are amazing, kind, caring and personable. I've moved across town and have a new friend, Jake. Ended up here after taking my cat to the ER one night. Was not the closest to our home, but definitely worth the trip. Awesome vet, great staff. They are always helpful when you call with a questions (I had some trouble with my cat), they give a military discount without even asking, they just saw my ID, they also offered to ship me his special cat food if I can't find the brand when I moved away!
