I went in because of my dog having anxiety really bad. I was concerned and at a loss of what to do. She had injured her teeth while in the kennel due to a anxiety attack. Dr Backlund was so helpful and taught me tools to help Jetta feel better. The price was going to be higher then I was prepared to pay but it had to be done except when it came time to pay it was right where I needed it to be significantly lower then it probably should have been. We started seeing Dr. Backlund back in 2015, following a harrowing incident involving one of our dogs (Emma), who is diabetic. To say he's been an angel sent would be an understatement, IMHO: he and the staff have gone above and beyond in caring for not just Emma, but our other two dogs (Rocky and David) as well. He has shown incredible compassion and has helped us learn ways we can care for our dogs at home (such as insulin shots, blood testing, teeth brushing, and other little things here and there). Wow! I was told by Dr. Beck that the pain medication, Meloxicam my vet gave my dog was human grade and not the best for dogs. That I should really give her Meloxidyl which is better for dogs. So I agreed to purchase the Meloxidyl from Backlund Animal Clinic. Well, my vet charged me $9.50 for the Meloxicam prescription, so boy was I in shock to be charged $128.75 for the prescription of Meloxidyl. Than researching on the internet I find it is the same thing, only in liquid form. Feeling...Ripped Off. Also was told my dog's exam would be $177.00. Michelle and her clinic saved my dog, Rock, but it was more than just the superb medical care, it was the caring! I live in North Platte and was unable to be there as many of their pet owners can, but Rock was well loved by all. One vet tech (Cassie?) started eating her lunch with Rock when they thought he was becoming depressed. Dr Michelle went the extra mile and took Rock home with her for Thanksgiving so he could have a little turkey and LOTS of TLC! His recovery has been slow, but he was so severly injured I did not think he would recover. He now has a dog walker and goes for rides in the car and is waiting the arrival of a new "brother" who is coming off the tracks in Texas. I am hoping that Big Red Ted will inspire Rock to run in the yard more, even though he chased a car coming down the back alley the other day (I never thought I would see that again!) I don't think Rock will ever be the once strong greyhound he was, but he is alive and moving.. all thanks to Backlund Animal Clinic.Read Less

Great staff, Great Vet! We took both of our baby girls here and they did a wonderful job. They completed a thorough exam, and explained everything to me. I had both dogs' teeth cleaned and their teeth look fantastic. I was amazed at how little the incision was for our youngest dog who was spayed. Her recovery time was quick! I wish there were more stars.  This is truly the most top notch operation I have encountered in years.  In March 2011 my 11 year old lab tore her ACL.  This is a quite common injury for larger canines, but finding people for rehabilitation was challenging.  We visited the surgery option first, which is the typical (vet recommended) care route.  Because of her age and energy level we were not comfortable with this option.  Surgery requires at least one month of crating to limit activity afterwards and there was no way we could keep her still for 30 minutes, let alone days.Enter Backlund: They were vet (24th Street) recommended as an alternate care option for our situation.  Backlund used a combined treatment method of laser heat therapy, water resistant treadmill therapy, and acupuncture, as well as bracing.  The cost of this combination was the same as surgery, however it's obviously far less invasive.  I cannot stress enough how skilled the veterinarian and vet assistant were while working with an animal in pain.  It was beyond kindness and leaned closer to tenderness.  And most importantly this facility was the first to be truly honest with me about the injury.  An ACL injury will heal on it's own, the goal is to ensure correct healing.  Backlund delivered, my favorite mammal on the planet is now running 30 minutes a day with no problems outside of arthritis, which couldn't have been prevented with surgery anyway.  I am sure Backlund likely will not need my review on yelp because the majority of their business is through vet referrals,  so please consider this a Thank You.
