A couple weeks ago my 3 1/2 year old dog did something to hurt her back to the point she couldn’t even walk. Since it happened on a Sunday we took her to an Urgent Pet Care. They gave her a painkiller but couldn’t really tell us much except that she might need surgery. This cost $461. The following day we took her to Harvey Oaks Animal Hospital where she was seen and treated by Dr. Arndt. He deduced that she had most likely ruptured a disk at the back part of her spine but s...ince she still had feeling in her hind legs he felt that she wasn’t a candidate for surgery and started treating her with steroid injections. After a week with not much improvement (but no worsening either) Dr. Arndt wanted to do a cat scan. Unfortunately, the results were still unclear as to what exactly was going on in there. The scan showed what appeared to be a ruptured disk along with a mass that could’ve been either a cyst, a tumor or, most likely a blood clot due to the ruptured disk damaging blood vessels. Due to her spinal cord being pinched by the ruptured disk she had also become incontinent. He recommended continuing the steroid treatment to keep reducing the pain and swelling and monitor her progress because going into surgery was no guarantee that it would take care of the problem or improve her situation and surgery should always be a last resort. Since he had seen many previous cases like this his judgment proved to be correct as she started improving day by day. In the second week they had switched her to oral steroid doses and physical therapy multiple times a day. Because of the incontinence she had to be bathed (sometimes more than once) daily as well. And after the second week she was able to come home to finish recovery. When the time came to receive our bill I was dreading that it would be around $2000 but the total was an astounding $158.00! Dr. Arndt reasoned that he wouldn’t charge us for the cat scan since the results were inconclusive. As for all the treatments, personal care and hospital stay I have no idea why it was so inexpensive. All I can say is a big thank you and God bless to Dr. Arndt and all the wonderful people there, Dr.’s and staff alike for the extreme care they gave our precious little girl. My dog died very suddenly and I had no idea what to do. The people here were incredibly kind and helped me through the process. They were able to tell me her cause of death within a few hours and provided a very nice box that contained her ashes. We have used this vet for the past 10 years with a 2.5 year break after our dogs death. I believe they loved my first dog and felt their excitement for our family when we came with our second dog. Dr Dimari is my primary vet he gets down with your dog and gets covered in hair and slobber. No other vet loves your dog this much. Read Less

My Siamese cat Asia came in with a potential tumor in her ear. Not only did they go above and beyond to make sure she was well taken care of, they gave me a ton of support throughout the entire situation. If I could leave 0 stars I would. These doctors, at least Dr Joe Dimari specifically, only care about the money. I took 1 of my dogs there for a tumor. He advised it was cancerous and we needed to schedule a removal of the tumor. There was no mention of sending it to the lab or anything. I chose to go see a specialist (because its cancer and i wanted a 2nd opinion) and they said their procedure is to send off to a lab for proper testin. When I asked Dr Dimari, he advised that... "most all mast cell tumors are grade 2, so there's no point in extra lab work" I then needed to have 2 prescriptions filled for my other dog. The first one they authorized the pharmacy to do, but then the doctor chose to call in and cancel it. The second one they said they'd call me back about but have neglected to do that as well. Dr Dimari was apparently upset when I chose to go see a specialist, because my dog had cancer, so they've chosen to neglect care all around. My dog was having a sudden, chronic issue over a couple weeks and I was referred to Harvey Oaks by my regular vet for scoping. It was an incredibly stressful and scary time, and Harvey Oaks was awesome. They got my dog in the same day my vet called them and even ended up doing surgery on him as a result of their findings the same day. I was blown away by how quickly they helped my boy and how easy the entire process was. This place is amazing! They have helped me with my dogs for a number of years now! They are professional, kind, caring, compassionate and educated - always keeping up with the latest in medical advancements. Dr is 'spot on' with OFA PennHip xray results! I just have to say, I emailed them today, to ask for some paperwork, then thought I'd follow up with a phone message to ensure it was received. It took me 3 mins to find the phone and dial the number and the receptionist had already viewed my email and was working on it! I love these people. Dr. Arndt is the best! Kathy, the vet tech rocks! Hadn't seen her for over a year and ran into her while taking my new 4-legged addition, she said "you guys don't have chihuahuas, you have bulldogs!" I took my dog to see Dr. Susan Johnson; after browsing their website, I saw that she was on the of the vets with the most experience. She was very kind and knowledgable. I brought my dog in because I was flying with him for the first time, and wanted to make sure it was okay for him to fly, and to get some sedatives. She performed a small check up, signed a health certificate, and prescribed some sedatives. I thought she was really nice, and I felt very comfortable with her handling my dog. Everytime I need a refill for the sedatives, I just call and they have it ready for me to pick up anytime which is very convenient. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else in Omaha. Read Less
