Dont reccomend this place at all i took small breed dog into him to just get a rabbies shot and he ended up picking my dog up by his neck and slamming him down on a table right infront of me, my wife and my 7month old son And the tech thats was helping Yes i have an older Chihuahua that i have to muzzle because he likes to snip, BUT if your going to do that to my animal like that infront of me what does he do to ones that are behind closed doors?? I took my dog in on a Friday because she had a dew claw that was partially ripped off playing and it was sticking out to the side. I had brought her in for this issue before on her other foot and they took the nail off, bandaged her up and I took her home with no issues. This time I brought her in and paid $60 for the examination of which i was told that since it was 4:15 I'd need to bring her in first thing Monday to perform the procedure to get the nail removed. This procedure was going to involve putting her under and removing nail since "it could involve complications and would probably bleed a lot". I was ok with the decision because hes the expert but a little confused since this was the same problem I had brought her in for just 8 months ago and it was taken care of right away with no complications and it's been fine since. I did ask for an estimate of how much the procedure was going to cost and they told me that they would have one ready for me Monday morning. Again, I thought it was odd that I had to wait til it was time for the procedure to get my estimate. Anyways, I took my dog home that day and was just looking a little closer at her claw and noticed that it was just attached by half of the nail and would just need a little trim of the nail to get it off. I'm not a licensed vet but I just paid one $60 to tell me that he wanted to put her under to remove this nail which would have been completely unnecessary and I'm sure costly. To top it all off, shortly after I saw what needed to be done, the nail fell off on its own. When I called in on the Monday of my apt, I asked for the estimate they told me would be ready to see what I was going to be charged and they told me they needed me to bring her in to examine her and see what needed to be done first and then they could give me the estimate. WHAT DID I PAY $60 FOR ON FRIDAY??? My bill from Friday says that it was for the examination but now I'm being told I had to bring her in to examine her to see what all needed to be done. If someone would have looked at the nail like I did on my own, I would hope a simple clip of the nail would have been done right away but no one looked at it close enough. Instead I was told we needed to put her under to remove a nail that fell off on its own less than an hour after I left their office!!! To me this feel like someone who cares more about making money off a patient than actually doing what is best for the animal. I'd really love to hear their explanation on this situation because it was the sketchiest experience I've ever had with a pet. Until then I won't be taking my dog back and I won't be recommending this place to anyone else who needs an honest vet for their pet. Read Less

My husband and I were very disappointed with this vet clinic. We took our elderly dog in to update her shots. All of the paperwork they asked us to prepare in advance was completed and they still were 15 minutes late getting her in. The veterinarian tried to make us feel guiltily for not getting dental work and blood tests done on our very elderly dog who is perfectly fine. He obviously just wants the money. The office visit and shots alone were about $130. I will never take my pets here again. Read Less

They are always so kind to me, understand my situations, and genuinely care about the health of my animals. Yes they do get busy but they always recommend another excellent place for last minute emergenices I do appreciate that they recognize that they cannot over commit. We have been taking our dogs to Dr, Van Horn to years and are so pleased with the care he has given all of our pets. One of our dogs had dental issues and Dr. Van Horn went to a seminar on dental health in pets to try to figure out what could be done to help our dog. On a Monday I saw their new client promotion while searching for a new Vet for my injured dog. I explained the injury and urgency and she said they could fit me in on Friday afternoon. So, a potentially new client with an urgent situation can be seen in 4 days.... Sounds like a wonderful place to take perfectly healthy pets. Read Less

I've been taking my lab to Dr. Van Horn for over 12 years, and I can't say enough good things about OAMG! I've been so pleased with my dog's care over the years. She has had a handful of issues, and the staff at OAMG has always promptly returned calls and gotten my dog in to see Dr. Van Horn the same day. If you're looking for expert care, this is the place to go! Read Less

I will never go there again. After being a regular customer and paying so much money, my dog needed urgent care and they told me 'Sorry, we are booked today. We work until 12, come Monday.'How can you say that you help animals? Shame on you! You better close and let other people help our animals. Read Less

I am very disappointed with this place. I called this morning because my dog ate something and had been vomitting for 2 days. They told me they could NOT take him in because they were already booked. They did not even ask me how he was doing or direct me to a doctor/clinic that could see him since they couldn't. I really liked the doc, but their staff is terrible. At the very least, they should have told us where to go or what to do. We will not be going there again! Read Less

It is so great to have my Sven back at 100%! About 24 hours ago (picture on the left) he had a very swollen snout and was vomiting every couple hours. I waited for Omaha Animal Medical Group to open at 7:30am and dropped in hoping they could squeeze us in. Christy was so great at getting us in right away. Kelly and Dr. Van Horn were very quick to take care of my fur-baby and update me on his condition while I was at work.I have been taking my dog to Omaha Animal Medical Group since Sven was a puppy. Christy is always really great about greeting us right away, answering the phone, making our appointments, and always stops to say hi to Sven. The vet techs Kelly and Michael are wonderful. Michael lets Sven just lick his face all over while Dr Van Horn looks at him. Kelly is also really great with Sven whenever I bring him in. Lastly, Dr. Van Horn always answers any of my pet concerns, does a great job handling animals, and is so easy to talk to. The building is always clean and welcoming. Overall a top notch place to have your fur babies taken care of. Read Less

We've been taking our pets to Dr Van Horn for almost 20 years. We like him and the staff so much we still take our pets there even though we've moved further west and south. Even when having to make those hard decisions for geriatric pets they made sure we had the information needed to make that decision and were very sympathetic. For one of my current pets he went above and beyond to make sure we had the right diagnosis for a rare condition for one of them. We also feel our pets are in good hands when we have to board there. I will never go back here again. We initially brought our dogs in as they needed all of their annual routine shots last year and saw that they were advertising for no exam fee. This location was much closer to our house as one of my dogs gets car sick so we thought it would be perfect. We took them in and were charged almost $300 for 2 dogs to receive their rabies and other needed annual vaccinations. When it came time for shots again this year, I took them to a vaccination clinic instead and only paid close to $75 total for both dogs. A few months later one of my dogs had an issue with her mouth so I brought her in. The staff was extremely rude and condescending and gave myself and my husband a lecture about taking the dogs to a vaccination clinic. You would think that I took the dogs to some alley and paid John Doe to give them shots. Hello, the shot clinics are done by licensed professionals as well. Anyway, I certainly didn't come in there to be talked to that way. So after they said there was nothing wrong with my dog, they said she should get her teeth cleaned. So I paid $60 to bring her in for absolutely nothing and when booking the appointment for her teeth cleaning they said it would be around $300 plus gave me a list of 5 other things they recommend while the dog is under which added almost $150 extra on top of it. I called the wonderful vet that my mom uses and they only charge $100 for the same service and were so nice and helpful on the phone. Needless to say that I cancelled the appointment and will never be back there. Dr. Van Horn is rude, expensive and his staff is not any better!Read Less

My entire family has boarded their pets at this hospital since 1998. We have never had any issues. The building is always heated and air conditioned. They also are an indoor facility so the animals are never just left outside in any of the elements. I would recommend this boarding facility to anyone looking for a caring place to take their pet. We were always called right away if our animals even coughed wrong while staying there. Read Less

I love this vet! I have been taking both my cat and dog there. The vet. is great! He takes time to explain everything, and is great with animals. It is clear that he enjoys his job. The rest of the staff is great as well. My pets are healthy and happy! Read Less

My dogs have never had any medical problems to date. One day after picking up my dalmation from this place she died. Of course it is had to determine the cause of death in an animal but I know something happened at that kennel. My dog was always shielded from the heat, she was an indoor dog. She was very loved by our family. Normally she would be fine any other place we took her for kenneling, except here, she died. Please do not take your dogs here, nothing they can do can bring back my beloved dog. Except to see it doesn't happen to others. Read Less
