I had never been to Pittman until today when I called to ask if they could take a look at my 9 yr old Great Dane. Her paw was double the size of the others and I wanted it looked at as soon as possible. They told me anytime between 2:30 and 4 and when we walked in only waited a couple minutes to be seen. They checked her out, gave antibiotics and pain pills and the cost was well below what I would have ever expected! We will only use Pittman for our pets moving forward! Read Less

It is a small veterinarian office. They care about your pet - cats & dogs. Prices are affordable. No appointment is neccessary but Dr. Trost does have surgery hours. It's not fancy so you don't have to pay for unnecessary extras. Recommended by the humane society. Read Less

It is a little outdated in the decor department, but this is a great veterinarian place. They took amazing care of our cat. They kept her over-night, fed her, clipped her nails, gave her updated shots, and tried to comfort her as much as possible. They put her under so it wouldn't be difficult on anyone, and kept her on medicine for pain. They were very friendly every time we called and kept us  updated. She had three small stitches and told us to come back in ten days. We got her shot updated and the spay for $109.00 which is literally a steal. I recommend this place to all owners of animals. So serious ups and downs for this place! But if you want to pay a million dollars for a fancy schmancy place be my guest! But I don't have the cash to spare for smells & feelings! They don't make you pay an office visit. THATS AWESOME RIGHT?!The vaccinations are very reasonable and actually competitive prices with the Humane society (except they only do vaccinations when your pet is in for sterilization!)The nurse aid and/or secretary is SUPER sweet. She's so patient and you can tell she really wants to make every puppy and kitty happy in the world. She's adorable. The Vet is a cute little older guy who (again) just wants to cuddle with all the puppies and kitties! He's a nice guyHOWEVER!! :(The place smells like it was flooded at one point and they didn't clean out it quite correctly or otherwise well enough. When you add the mold+ mildew smell into the dog + cat smell... it takes ALL I have not to walk in with a medical mask - I'm a paramedic I can handle smells with no problem. Additionally the smell with the look and feel of the place makes me feel a little grossed out ... definitely would NOT sit on their chairs. I'm sure they've been sterilized or else sanitized but it's just not going to happen. Another upside!!  that they NEVER have a wait or people in line!So I don't have to sit on any of the furniture. Also open clinic hours I think we're 08:00-09:30a and again at like 1:30-4 (maybe?!). But like I said, no wait, no line, no appointment, no office visit fee, inexpensive vaccinations, same day records! This place is great! Dr. Trost is the Clark Kent of veterinarians. At first glance, one might overlook him.  However, the moment he places his hands on your beloved pet, he is Superman.  His kind eyes and gentle manner are clearly paired with the highest professional standards and knowledge. It was a busy day today. Very busy.  More than a dozen pets were cared for as we waited.  Yet, in what should have been a hectic atmosphere, instead a sense of peace pervaded.  It was palpable.  I've never seen a practice like this one.  The team of staff members are completely unflappable, unruffled, and so very kind.The prices for care are more than reasonable.The people and animals of Omaha are so lucky to have Dr. Trost and his team. Front desk woman is always extremely rude. She has an attitude like I'm inconveniencing her every time I call. My family pets have been seen by Dr. Pittman for years now and he is a WONDERFUL Doctor. Although I'm typically only here once a year, for the last three years, each visit has been a pleasant experience for both Rigby (my dog) and I! Service is quick, I always forget to schedule an appointment but they can always see me and Rigs the day I call. I've only had to wait 30-45 minutes depending on the day which really isn't too bad. The flow of animals going in to see the Doc and coming out is relatively quick! Plus, my dog has major anxiety issues when it comes to being surrounded with people, so the quicker the better! I have a lot of respect for the Doc, being that he really has a way of working with Rigby and is super gentle and makes seeing the vet less stressful. He was happy to answer all my questions and took the time to educate me on things I can do to make Rigby as happy and healthy as possible. I just moved here not too long ago, and the only vet we knew is extremely expensive. I didn't wanna spend a fortune getting my fur babies shots, so I waited and kept looking. I asked a friend of mine and she referred me to this place, and I couldn't be any happier! It is a first come first serve, which is nice because you don't have to make an appointment ahead of time. The staff, the people, and the vet were all EXTREMELY welcoming and friendly. It's nothing fancy but I don't wanna pay for fancy! The vet was gentle and talked to my dogs, making sure they were calm. When I went to pay I expected a large bill for the two shots they got.. it was only $61! I highly recommend this place to anyone, it's simply fantastic. Read Less

Personally I have only used Pittman one time which was today to get a well puppy check for my newly adopted dog. The vet checked her all out and answered all my questions and looked at her paperwork and said she was good to go! It took about 10 minutes if even that. They don't take appointments for office visits, you can walk in between 8-9:30 and 1-5 I got there a few min before 1 and there were 3 other dogs waiting to be seen before me. I only waited probably 20 minutes at most. My mom and sister both use this vet as well which is why I went there, my sister used this vet when her dog needed a lump removed and my mom has used this vet to get shots and teeth cleaning for the dogs and they both love it. The vet seemed caring and knowledgable and he seemed honest. Also to make things better it is WAY more affordable than any other vet around. It's only $25 for an office visit when most places want $40 or more. Read Less

My cat had a cough that was worsening. I was able to just bring him in and Dr. Trost saw him in about 10 minutes. He was quick, gentle, and informative, explaining both immediate treatment and possible future treatment if his condition did not improve. The visit was extremely affordable. WOW is all I can say. The people who work here are sweet and treated me with a lot of respect. The vet guy was gentle and seeing as how my cat didn't try to bite him he must be a good guy (I have an older angry cat LOL). Oh and cheap too! My two cats got their vaccines and my other cat got an allergy shot for only $58. Normally you'd pay that just for one cat. I'm glad I checked on yelp for a good vet. This is the best vet I have ever been to. The building itself is a little run-down but whatever, they save you money by not getting any fancy updates. Dr. Trost is efficient, to-the-point, and best of all he works within my grad-student budget. As a medical professional myself, I can tell you this vet does not order unnecessary and expensive tests like many other places do. I've been taking my pets here for years. They're always fast and prompt with your pet care needs. Just call and give them a head's up you're coming in and Dr. Trost and Co. will usually be able to check out your pet the very same day (of course, the earlier you call the better).Prices have always been very fair and the staff has been nothing but friendly -- maybe a little blunt at times, but when you have a sick dog or cat, there's no need to fluff things up. I appreciate that.Pittman offers all your typical vet needs, from vaccinations and other shots, spaying/neutering, x-rays, medications, etc., etc.Plus there's a classic charm to the place. No fancy digital database, just a big bin of manila folders with all the necessary client information. The building itself is small, but is as accommodating as it needs to be. There's a small parking lot right off Dodge street that is easy to miss and can fill up quickly. You can always park along Douglas street and walk up from the back if you'd like. Read Less

Animal care is a very personal aspect to pet ownership.  You will either click with the vet and see them caring the way you had hoped or not.  This place has a good vet at a very reasonable price.  That is the main perk to Pittman.  You will get a skilled staff at a low price.  For those of us on a budget this place is wonderful.  The building is hard to get into since its off of dodge down an alley for parking which is also limited given the spots. (Look for the brown sign, it comes up quick)  He is popular given the value and service so waiting is a strong possibility.  If your the type of person who feels your precious needs the best care in Omaha then you may want to consider elsewhere  but if you don't want or can't pay for it then Pittman will exceed your expectations. Do you realize some people are born to be great vets? Dr. Trost is one of them.  Just like a teacher who loves to pass on info. And emotional help to her students, Dr. Trost transfers calm and common sense caring without the huge price tag. I've always had a good experience with them. The assistants are a little rough around the edges but everyone seems helpful and they get the job done. He does not rip you off unlike the place I used to take my pets (Dr. Bosilevac Best Care Pet Hospital).If he doesn't feel comfortable doing a procedure he will refer you to somewhere else.
