I recently switch to Ralston Vet from a different vet in town (mostly due to the convenience of Ralston Vet's location). I could not be more happy with my decision. My cat has only been seen twice and I feel so at ease with the doc's & tech's & I know my cat is on the road to recovery. They are super empathetic and really listen to my/my cat's needs. I take my cat Biscuits in all the time and I have met a few different vets. They've all been extremely nice to me. I also have a pet dog, Pamona, who we got a few weeks ago. She had gotten Parvo and we had to take her in. We spent about a week with Dr. Wolter working to get Pamona better. Everyone from the vet, the vet techs, and the front desk staff were nice, understanding, and patient with us. They welcomed my daily calls to check up on her and get updates, they explained things in a way so that my family could understand exactly what was going on with Pamona, and they worked with us so that we could pay our bill. This is my favorite vet clinic. Whenever I need help with my animals they are always there and work exceptionally well with my schedule and my pets. I brought my puppy to her first vet appointment today and was really impressed with Ralston Vet Clinic! When I first walked in I noticed how clean it was! Ashley at the front desk welcomed me with a warm greeting and she was overjoyed when she saw my fur baby even though you know she see's seen a hundred of them. It was really sweet! I had a very short wait and Nikki took me into an exam room and asked her routine questions. She was really informative about what the appointme...nt would entail and general suggestions about vaccines how to keep my puppy healthy. I had to bring my kids along and she was very patient with them. Next, It was Dr. Demyan's turn and she was awesome!!! She was so super pleasant and knowledgeable. Wow they are just wonderful! The BEST Vet clinic in probably entire state! We took our cat there and they were really caring and professional. You can tell that this place is there not to make money but actually really cares about animals. Dr. Burbach answered all of my questions even though there were a lot. I can’t say enough good things about Ralston Vet. They got us in right away and loved our sweet pup as much as we did. He had surgery on his intestine to remove a sock. He ended up needing another surgery because of leakage in the intestine and infection Dr. Kennedy and her staff stayed until 9:30 that night with our Rottweiler, Mac. We ended up losing him a day later but they did everything they possibly could and were so kind through the whole process. They cried right along with us when we lost him and it was very apparent they care about their animals. I am so fortunate to have found Dr. Merkwan as it has been hard to find a vet in Omaha who specializes in exotic animals. Last week, my French Lop rabbit Theodore became ill. I took him to his original vet and received treatment. Through the stress and antibiotics, Theodore's digestive system started to shut down. This is often fatal in rabbits. I called Ralston vet in desperation as my original vet was not in that particular day and I did not feel a sense of urgency that I k...new Theodore needed. Dr. Merkwan was willing to see Theodore even though he didn't have any appointments available. He came up with a plan of action and in our first visit with him I felt a sense of relief. I expressed my concern about an upcoming vacation and Dr. Merkwan offered to board Theodore at the clinic. I was skeptical as putting a rabbit in with cars and dogs can be very stressful. When I asked about the accommodations Dr. Merkwan educated me on his available options for exotic animals. They are in their own space, away from barking dogs, meowing cats etc. He assured me that if Theodore needed special care and medical attention, that it wouldn't be a problem. During Theodore's time with Dr. Merkwan and the staff he made amazing progress. I also received e-mail updates to let me know how he was doing. When I picked Theodore up, Dr. Merkwan came to let me know about his progress and his suggested next steps. He was excited to share with me that he had installed cameras in the boarding area that enabled him to watch Theodore from anywhere in the clinic and even at home! He also let me know that he would be ordering special probiotics for Theodore to ensure they were on hand if we ever needed them. I realize that this is a long review, but all in all I am so thankful to have found Dr. Merkwan. In the short time meeting with him I could tell he was knowledgeable and had a passion for working with exotic animals. His patient care and urgency when necessary really set him apart. I am so grateful to Dr. Merkwan and all the staff that took care of Theodore while I was away. It was a very reasonable price to pay for knowing that my rabbit was given excellent care and attention. 3 days ago my beloved dog, (miniature pinscher) Casey, broke her leg. I came to Ralston Vet in complete desperation after calling several places, and being told that if I couldn't pay at time of service that I should surrender Casey to the humane society. After a recommendation from a friend I got a hold of the Ralston Vet Clinic. The whole team went above and beyond to take care of my sweet girl, who ended up needing an amputation. Dr. Kennedy did a marvelous job with her surgery and stitching her up, and the treatment we got while we were there I will forever be grateful for at a time I was so worried. This place is amazing and the doctors and staff all really care. After this whole traumatic experience, I won't be taking my dog anywhere else ever again. I've found my veterinarian for life. Dr. Jernigan and his staff took EXCELLENT CARE of my Bella. She had a piece of zip tie stuck in between her back teeth. I knew something was wrong but not what or why. He made multiple attempts to find the obstruction before she was sedated, but she got tired of cooperating, so sedation was necessary. The good Dr. found the zip tie (no idea where she got it) and pulled it out, a shot of antibiotics and we were on our way after she woke back up. I am so thankful for the care given to my dog, Luci at Ralston Vet. We had a very scary allergic reaction that left my dog with an extremely swollen face and she was covered in hives. Dr. Kennedy and all the staff at Ralston Vet saw Luci within seconds of her walking in the door (during a very busy time in the afternoon), kept her for a few hours to ensure her airway was protected, and made daily phone calls to make sure her recovery was going well. I love Ralston Vet. I've been bringing my dogs here for 13 years now. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the facility is really clean, and the prices are fine. We've been there for a number of reasons outside of the annual exams, especially now that my dogs are seniors. We're always been treated well and the vets have always worked closely with us to determine the right course of action for treating whatever the problem is. I had to have my dog cross the rainbow bridge last night. I called ahead to set up the appointment. Everyone from the appointment setter, to the desk clerk to the vet techs to the doctor was very professional, sympathetic, understanding and compassionate. They encouraged us to stay with Pudge as long as we wanted before and after the procedure. The doctor told us what would happen and when. He was very kind and sympathetic. Have been taking my dogs to Ralston for 2 years. Will never go there again. Took my dog in for a yearly exam and for her vaccinations 3 months ago. She had a stomach problem so they wouldn't give her her shots. Did full blood work and doctor examined her...fast forward 3 vet appointments and $850 later she is finally well enough to get shots but the tech can't give them because she hasn't gotten her yearly appointment. Are you kidding me!? Asked for my medical records and gave her the shots myself for $9. Had always seemed to care about my pets, but it's obvious they care way more about the bottom line. Sorry for the long review but Ralston Vet is the only vet clinic I will ever take my fur babies to! My dogs hip had popped out of place and I had brought her to a different vet and they said it was going to be a very expensive surgery and that the only option was amputation. The vet there told me when I wanted to set up a surgery date I had to call and ask specifically for him because he wanted to make sure she got the proper attention she needed. He then proceeded to ignore all my phone calls. I tried every day for months and nothing. I then made one final call to tell them I will be switching vets. I called Ralston Vet and they got her in right away for and appointment! The staff did everything they could to get her information for the previous clinic, which they were refusing to send, and got her the care she needed. They even found a better alternative than amputation and it was so much cheaper! She was in so many times after her surgery because she wasn't eating, or not taking her meds, and also because she had to have the same surgery but on the other hip because that one popped out too. They were phenomenal with helping me in every way they possibly could! They even knew both of us by name because we were in so often. This is the only vet I will ever go to!Read Less

I'm doing this as a review so that the information gets out there. I recently had to put my oldest dog to sleep. I had everything planned with an appointment at Ralston Vet all set.. The weekend before the appointment I got a reminder message. I ended up using a different vet that was closer because of a seizure my boy had but even before that I was unhappy because of the reminder message. I understand that the messages are computer generated but a message that reads something like this: "Dr. Mansfield @ Ralston Vet looks forward to seeing Linus at 12:00p on August 23,2016. Please arrive 10 mins early. CALL for changes " is inappropriate and insensitive when the appointment is for euthanasia. I was extremely hurt and troubled by the message. While it honestly wasn't why I took him somewhere else. IT IS why I will never set foot in Ralston Vet again.Read Less

Absolutely amazing. They got us in even though they were booked. They let us come in the back door and met us with a gurney. They stayed almost an hour after the office closed to help my sick puppy. It was our first time there and the only place I'll take him back to. I'm grateful that they helped us. They cared for him like he was their pet.they were patient when I asked questions and helped us through a scary time. I am so glad a friend told me to go there. When someone treats your animal with love it puts your mind at ease a little bit more. I was a worried puppy mom and they put my mind at ease. You think they would know prescriptions and what is needed to get a prescription elsewhere? No...they are rude and take way more money than anywhere else. The idiot checking me out last time asked if I wanted the reward program, and I said no. She put it on anyway and said it was over $200 for an annual visit. My dog had an annual visit three weeks before. She was rude again when I asked her to take the rewards off again, as I said originally I didn't want it. Also, they make it extremely difficult to order a prescription online from a REAL and APPROVED clinic other than them. There are so many more veterinarians that are better for your dog and your money. Bellevue has more reasonable prices from the get go! Their online pharmacy is even four times the price of everywhere else! They just want your money. I regret spending anything here for my dog. I will not be calling again after multiple attempts to get a paper prescription and failure to do so. Go somewhere else right away! I recently took my dog there for vaccines and a check up. The clinic seemed very nice and clean. Receptionists were friendly. The tech who brought us in the room was nice and treated my dog well. She talked to him and wanted to give him treats. I know my dog can be nervous at times so it made me happy that she was making an effort to make him comfortable. A young male vet came in the room with vaccines and he immediately made me feel uncomfortable. Didn't take the time to get to know my dog. When he went to give the vaccine, my dog was a little squirmy. The vet kept jumping back and almost seemed scared of my dog. My dog wasn't acting like he was trying to bite, or acting vicious. He was just squirmy. After a few attempts of getting the vaccine in, he said my dog would do best with him out of the room. Which frustrated me because I know how nervous my dog was. If he can't give a vaccine in the room with a tech holding, how is he supposed to give a vaccine at all? I felt like he was nervous and scared of my small dog. Didn't take the time to get to know my animal, barely touched him for an exam. Seemed like he wanted as little time with him as possible. After a while he came back in and said the vaccines were given. I am giving a one star because of the veterinarian. The clinic and other staff were fantastic. But I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable and upset with the care that was given by the vet. Which makes me wonder why someone would get in that career field and be terrified of animals.Read Less
