A place we felt comfortable and referred by other lab owners we made the drive to Boulder City. But yesterday DR Morris failed us with a very difficult decision we made regarding quality of life our 17 year old blind cat with kidney failure with weekly dialysis needed, thyroid issues with daily pills, she would have the rest of her life. She can no longer jump onto her favorite seat to get the sunlight, no longer jump up on to the bed to sleep with us, could no longer get into the kitty litter box with losing her ability to go the bathroom in that spot, could no longer chase cat toys she once played with, she limped. She lost her spunk and just laid there and When I was home I held her in my arms. 17 years ago she was abandoned by her mom in the dead of winter with snow and the odds were stacked against her but my love and neighbors and friends we fed her by bottle, took her to work with us and she survived. She was a Mama's kitty with me being the only one to hold her ever! I loved her! My husband and daughter also loved our cat! But, she was my baby! So, thank you! From what happened yesterday it sparked communication with our aging parents about their definition of quality of life. What we think verses what they think quality is we have more insight and will put those in writing. Also, thank you for the insight yesterday I have already got referrals to interview other vets from my friends and now I know what questions to ask in a vet. We want a vet and staff to support us when faced with hard decision if we are ever faced with making a tough decision for our family member! This is the best animal clinic I've ever been too, the doctors are super friendly and know how to calm your pet, they take time to know your animal and care just as much as you do. They saved my Stanley's life, he had crictcal kidney failure and they did everything in their power to help him through it. I couldn't say anything bad about this place or the staff. I have multiple animals so it always seems like I'm in there for something. The staff is always so helpful and always happy in a good mood. The doctors there are very good at what they do and really love the animals that they see. Recently we just put down one of our dogs and during such a hard time in life the Dr was very compassionate with us. Gave us all the time we needed as we grieved for the loss of our dog. We've seen Dr. Moore, Dr. Johnson, and Dr. Flannery for our pets over the years and they're all amazing. Everyone makes sure to take time to listen to our concerns & gets the job done quickly. The techs are always so nice and talking to front desk over the phone is the least stressful thing in the world. Dr Sircy Moore is the most carry loving REAL doctor person loving Vet that I have ever met. Our Max and Elvis are our kids and they mean the world to us! I was referred to him sooooooooo many times. We went in again today to get the kids nails done because they were getting long and Max is pushing 15-16 y.o. And Max started showing signs of age today by not being able to stand up after he came out after the trimming. I was scared. The Dr came and called me Mom and held my hand and helped Max feel better. He didn't have any nails anymore so it's was harder for him to walk on hardwood floors. He assured me of that. My wife and I were traveling cross country with our 2 dogs when we realized we were running low on medication for one of our dogs. Called up Grateful Pet Animal Clinic and they were able and willing to work with our Vet back home to supply us with enough medications to complete our trip and get back home. Everyone in the clinic was super nice, caring, and understanding. Would highly recommend them. We will absolutely keep them on our radar when traveling through Boulder City in the future. We have been with Doc Flannery for 10 years now. He took care of our boxer when he was a puppy and was so amazing we followed him to his new office in Boulder City even though we live in Anthem. I love this place. They don't try to gouge your money out of you and they really pay attention to my dogs issues. I used to go to Banfield where they just make assumptions and ask me to pay for several tests that I don't need. This place doesn't do that. They didn't even need me to come in when my dog accidentally ate chocolate. They just happily gave advice over the phone. They didn't perscribed a ton of medication for my Aussies seasonal allergies, they just simply suggested stuff I can get cheap at Walgreen's. And when I asked if I should bring my dog in for a dental because his breath smelled, Dr Flannery said he really didn't need it right now, maybe in a year. So I came there on Wednesday my dog is sick and won't poop. U guys did NOT tell me or my mother (which we were in same room at all times) how much the visit was, or how much the x ray was... And now for the cold hard facts, my first visit you all charged me 15$ for the visit, the second time you charged me 40$, and then when my mother calls your office to tell you that none of your medicine is working for my dog you tell her to come in and the visit will now b 20$... Lil confused, hah me too cause it doesn't stop there... First visit (yes, again) x ray, you all told us it would cost about 100, second time (we did get x ray) total just for x ray was 110$... And then when my mother calls you tell her, "yeah an x-ray costs about 100"... Are you serious?! This isn't the streets you an office a company!!! Your going to sit there and play with my pocket?!?!?! You don't even know who or how your affecting anyone!!!! I take care of my disabled mother who has been waiting for OUR governments help her. And no I'm not freaking out just cause you took my money in flipping out cause you did nothing for my dog, you took my money that could've been given to someone who actually cars about their job and responsibilities that come with it!!! Oh and by the way, one of the biggest reasons I wrote this is because the simple fact that if you have done this to me there are MORE than likely MANY others that you have done this to. So if you've made it this far why not just START doing the right thing, cause no one expects you to all of a sudden become a decent person and try to give back to those you have taken from. Next time I call or anyone calls (cause I'd b the stupid one to ever go back) you have a set rate for everything... I brought my dog here once before and it was a good experience. Because of what happened today I won't be back. I had a 9am appointment and when I got there it already looked like they were overbooked and busy - my dog wasn't seen until 9:30. Not shocking, I know, seems to be the normal way any type of medical practice operates these days. The effect of it though, was that Dr. Flannery was extremely short, rude and callous. He brought my dog back from getting her shot and immediately started spewing out how her "teeth are funky" her "warts are gross" so she needs to come back in for a "dental" and to have the warts removed. No greeting, no hello, nothing (I hadn't seen him in over a year so we had no pre exisitng relationship) - just started spewing like a used car salesman. Then he referred to my dog as "it." Not she, not he, but it. I interjected and said "she's not an it, she's a she." And he slammed the clipboard down and said "if you're going to attitude me, don't come back." I get that people get busy and stressed. I was stressed myself being in there. But there is NO EXCUSE for unprofessional, rude behaviour. Some may say I'm overly sensitive - and I admit I am sensitive to how I"m treated, especially by other professionals. A simple "hello" from Dr. Flannery when he entered the room might have made all of this moot. I could have overlooked the unprofessional, callous way he presented the information because that might be his communication style. Which may have worked if only he were friendly or even courteous. No empathy, courtesy or kindness whatsoever. And, in the end, I got no useful information at all about what needs to happen for my dog. So many businesses seem to take their clients for granted. As if we have no other choices. As if they can be rude to us and get angry when we call them out on it. This review would be 1 star except for the fact that the receptionist was kind and treated me with compassion and grace. She's the only one in there that did. The staff is so kind and friendly, problem is the dr's didn't seem to work in sync. I had my old dog in there for not eating. The Dr gave him a shot of something that was for pain but wasn't supposed to make him "too loopy". by the time I got home, my boy couldn't find his feet, lost his bowels and was beyond "loopy". I took him back the next morning they did xrays and found his liver was enlarged--he was not in good shape. The vet tried fluids all day and he was supposed to be reevaluated that afternoon- i was expecting it was time to say good bye. When i called, they said the other dr had ok'd him to go home. I was skeptical but glad that he was better. I brought him home but he was still very beyond loopy. 2 hours after being home, he had a major siezure and i ended up taking him to the emergency clinic where they compassionately put him out of his misery--poor boy was scared and didn't know where he was, he didn't know me and I've had him 16 years. I think the dr's at Grateful Pet are good vets, I just think It was Memorial weekend and they were ready to be off for a few days.I get it, but to send a dog home who was clearly not well was way wrong in my opinion. The truth of the matter is, my old dog never recovered from the shot he was given and instead of realizing it was his time, they sent him home and he had to suffer. Best Vet around. I've lived in Boulder City for 35 years, and I've had numerous dogs. Grateful Pet / Dr. Flannery, cares about your animals the way that you would and he doesn't charge outrageous prices. Hes the only Vet to see in Boulder, Henderson or Vegas. Read Less
