It was very very comforting to have the people here be more worried about my dog than paperwork. They took her in right away got her in an air heated blanket and ready for examination. They have private waiting rooms for those of us who want to cry in private. They took very good care of us and my baby came home happy and unscarred. Bandit and Brisa love going to Sierra Vet Hospital whether it is to see one of their doctors for a check up, shots, dental work, injuries, or stay in their kennel while I am away from home. The kennel staff is so accommodating and always pay special attention to my two huskies. It breaks my heart to leave them when I travel, but knowing they are with Sierra Vet Hospital assures me they are safe and well cared for. They get to go outside 4 time daily. I loved this vet! The staff are all amazing, answered any and all questions we had, and treat our puppy as if he was their own. We're so fortunate to have found such amazing people! Their prices are also great! We were the recipients of a re-homed German Shepherd from California with tapeworm, and no legitimate shot record to use. I had to bring in one of our dogs on a Saturday for a possible UTI. Sierra was not only open on Saturdays (BIG PLUS), but they have a beautiful facility that is well staffed. Their waiting room is very spacious with two sides (one for check-in, one for check-out) which is great to have with a dog that isn't always so friendly with other canines. The exam rooms were also very spacious, clean and uncluttered. Everyone from the gal who answered the phone when I called to schedule an appt, to the overall experience in office was well worth five stars! We came up to Carson City from SoCal and needed to board the puppy. When we got to the day care place we were told that she would need an additional shot to stay there overnight. They recommended this place and we were glad they did!  We were in and out in less than an hour including drive times and the staff was professional, welcoming, and extremely efficient. I brought my 2 dogs in together for the first time for my puppy's start of her vaccinations and so my older dog could see what was going on. We had a great experience. Sierra Vet is the only vet I will take my dogs and cats to. Anytime I've had a concern or needed an appointment, I've been able to get in that day. I usually don't complain about services I receive but I am very unsatisfied with the services I received today for my dog! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, but I feel taken advantaged of! I took my dog in to get her rabies vaccine and was told the doctor would have to do a exam on her ($54) which I was totally fine with.. I asked if they could look at her paws in the exam, because she is acting like they hurt her.. I was told, YES. Well as I was talking to the vet I expressed my concern about possible arthritis because she is so young.. So without looking at her, that was his diagnosis (totally based on what I said, not even looking at her). So, I paid $54 just for him to listen to her heart before giving her a shot... I am completely upset about this! I would never recommend this place, and I will never be going back. I will never take my dog anywhere else. Hope was wonderful, and she actually listened to to what I was saying. She didn't act like because my dog is 14, that she doesn't matter. She listened to me, and she made my dog so comfortable that she fell asleep. She sat on the floor with her, and she massaged her until she fell asleep. I have taken 2 of my Dachshunds there over the last 10 or so years. The staff and Doctors have always been caring, compassionate, kind and willing to listen to my concerns about my dogs. Yesterday I was faced with the most difficult decision any pet owner has to make and I had to put my dog to sleep. The Doctor and staff were compassionate and caring and allowed me to grieve the loss of my sweet girl. Their ability to test and diagnosis my girl in a timely manner was helpful in making my decision. This will be my Vet of choice for my 2 remaining dogs. Read Less

Sierra Vet Hospital is amazing! We lost our beloved Beagle on Saturday Dr. Torvik and the staff there were and are AMAZING! To have to put an animal to sleep is one of the hardest decisions you can make as a pet owner. Sierra Vet and Dr. Tovik helped us make every decision possible before letting our Beagle cross the rainbow bridge. Dr. Torvik also came out and hugged me and really comforted me that day and told me how sorry she was. They also found our Beagle had a heart murmur that we were not aware of until we started bringing him to them. We also received a beautiful card today with a beautiful message from Dr. Torvik it warmed my heart to know she cared so much about our Beagle. Was up camping in Bridgeport, CA with my 13 year old chocolate lab when he took a turn for the worst. We had to make the difficult decision to end his suffering bit were over 8 hours away from out normal vet and didn't want to put Buddy through the torture of a long car ride. Found Sierra Vet strictly through Yelp. We were treated wonderfully, and even though they had never seen Buddy before, they treated him with love. While they are extremely compassionate and wonderful vets and staff, when they informed me my dog needed $1,500 surgery, they wouldn't work with me to allow me to pay it off. As a result we never treated his cancer. I will go back for their shots, etc. as they have all our animals' records and as I said they ARE caring and compassionate. Went here to pick up The Mutt after some medical care and a wee bit of grooming. Everything went smoothly, dog was still alive, bill wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I like that they have a bowl of treats on the counter to snack on while you're waiting to pick up your pet, I was starving. They weren't all that tasty but I bet they were very healthy. Read Less

Needed a substitute vet when my regular was out of the office. A friend referred me and they were wonderful to her and her elderly dog during the most difficult part of dog ownership. I am so glad they were able to work me in the same day.They diagnosed an difficult to detect issue with my dogs eye and referred me to an eye specialist who was able to save my dogs sight. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Dr. Hope is amazing. We bought a puppy from a pet shop and he was very sick. The whole staff worked so well with us and broke down all charges for us BEFORE any procedures were done and really let us navigate the way we wanted to treat our newest addition. We have also boarded our two dogs with them and once again amazing. They even separated our dogs at night so our oldest could a break from the puppy and get some sleep for no extra charge. All the ladies in the office, the techs and the doctors are so friendly and personable. Wouldn't trust my fur babies with anyone else. The staff here is exceptional! From the front desk to the team in the back, they always make me feel welcome and that my pet is as super as I think they are. I had two very serious scares with my Dane in the last 2 years, that resulted in 24 hours of care over the course of 5 days, the vet  (dr Reiniemer) fought as hard as I did, and supported me and my girl till the end. When it was time to say goodbye to my girl, dr Reiniemer was right there and supported me through the course of my decision. The veterinarians at this hospital are honest, they do not skirt around this issue. They give you options and will fight by your side. Most importantly. I had and experience with this Veterinary Clinic back in 2006 which was not "good". We had been going to this clinic since 1996 my dachshund puppy's breeder recommendation . For the most part, the first few years were fine other than their services were more expensive than other clinics in the area. The staff was nice and some doctors did seem to care about your pet. I did not like that you saw a different veterinarian almost everytime you went in. On a Friday night our 10 year old dachshund didn't eat his dinner and didn't seem to be feeling well. The office was open on Saturday mornings so we took him in. After he was examined the doctor ordered an ultrasound and told us he had a huge mass in his spleen and it was probably cancer. My husband and i went back and forth on the doctor's decision to put him to sleep. It was very hard for me, we had this pup since the day he was born. I keep thinking, he'd only been sick one might, how could this be? The vet finally told us we could prevent his pain and discomfort by putting him to sleep or take him home for the rest of the weekend to see how he does but beware he could choke to death on his own blood should this mass rupture! The thought of that was unbearable to think of. I was sill hesitant but agreed. Just as he started to put the needle in, Frankie squealed and I told him to stop, I changed my mind but he emptied the syrirnge into his vein. I was so upset and angry. I thought and still do to this very day that he just wanted to go home. They closed at noon and it was almost 2:00pm. I still cry for the loss of my baby 8 years later.We never went back to that clinic and followed our favorite Vet from there to her own new clinic and couldn't be happier. I later asked her about that situation we had without specifics and whether or not he would have choked on his own blood if it ruptured? She told me of course not! If it was a mass that means it was solid, therefore there would be no fluid to rupture. I will always wonder if there was a mass because for it to be the size the doctor said, he surely would have had symptoms much earlier then just the night before. I believe we made a terrible mistake letting that vet, who was new to the clinic and we'd never seen before, touch him. We never went back again. Read Less

I scheduled an appointment for my 5 month mixed breed Carl for the first time at this office. The staff is very friendly from the time you walk in until you leave. Our assistant, Jennifer and Vet Roger were helpful and loved Carl!I received a $25 credit for being referred by my friend and then she got a gift card for it!
