I took my fur-baby to see Dr. Ramsen. She and her staff were very accommodating. My guy is not friendly with other dogs at all. Letting them know in advance they were able to bring me through the other door and directly into a room, so there were no chances for an issue. The one star goes to Dr Remsen. We were there yesterday,  as we always are for our appointments on time, if not a few minutes early. As always, we wait 20-45min past our appointment time. Yesterday, our appt for a simple booster shot was at 10:15am, we had to wait until 10:50am before our Newfie puppy was taken back for her bortedella booster, so she could go to the groomer.  Finally, nearly late for our grooming appt at 11:15am,  as we stood at the counter to pay out bill, of course Monica was slow and behind as always, had us wait to "find" our pets file so we could pay, and leave, in that time, an owner who had two pitbulls on flimsy leashes, attacked our puppy fom behind, she was stuck in a room that was overcrowded, with dogs, and with nowhere to go, and that pitbull having its jaws on her, I went down, injuring myself ,while the office staff, simply watched and did nothing.  (I later, having just had a total hip replacement, and sustaining injuries to my legs from the pitbull trampling me to get to my dog who I had freed in the process,  the second time, it got her ear and she was screaming, my husband was able to pry the pitbulls jaws open to release our scared, tramatized puppy. Finally, we left that death trap of an office.  Today, we called asking for anti inflammatory and antibiotics for the puppy, we were denied and told we had to bring her back. After the attack, let me add, I was handed a dirty bucket with used pads full of betadine and told to "take care of my self"(my cuts and gashes) while they swabbed my puppy. She was given no medication and I of course,  didn't think of that, all I could think was that my puppy was almost killed in the vets overcrowded office. So today, calling for the medication for the pup (I already went to the ER), they denied her medicine and said to bring her back. I am not going to tramatize her further, photos were taken, injuries quickly scanned by the staff and all of this could have been prevented had they been on time, and not overbooked.  Now, my puppy is left suffering and in pain, the other option is to bring her back to the place of her attack. Yes, I filed a report with animal control.  But this clinic seems to not care for the well being of anyone but their own pockets. This is not the only instance of their negligence, but the most severe. After, the same puppy was fixed (spayed) there, we did not recieve any follow up calls to check on her, as I have with other veterinarians, for my cats. When I called to ask questions about after care,  I was rudely told, it was on the sheet,( the only thing we recieved was 5pills with manufacturer instructions and a reciept for more than $500 to spay a Newfie pup). When I asked about the stitches I was told they would dissolve, they did not, and a few days ago I noticed on her belly, something plastic and threadlike, at the appt yesterday,  sure enough, it was the stitches from her spaying 5 months prior. This is a very insensitive and negligent clinic who overbooks to line their greedy pockets. Please save yourself the trauma and do not risk your pets life to these uncaring, uncompassionate people. Tomorrow, I am suppoosed to leave for my honeymoon and they have ruined what should be the happiest time of my life. As a final kick in the teeth, they deny any concern for the puppy's health, claiming it was an accident.  They have a duty to ensure the safety of all people and pets on their premises.  My poor dog is left in pain and traumatized from the attack in a place she is supposed to be safe and cared for. Please do not endanger your animal or yourself, as I did. I am still recovering from cuts and bruises and the phycological damage of seeing my beloved puppy attacked from behind will never leave me. I am scarred for life from seeing my puppy nearly killed by a pitbull.As a final note, for the truth about this place, read the "not recommended " reviews. Read Less

took my dog in for a broken leg he is a small mini chihuahua needless to say paid 300 for a referral to plate his leg or chop it off. got told it was 800 to chop leg off. come to find out his leg can be splinted and he can get neutered for less then what they charged to do nothing. office staff is horribly rude and unprofessional. do not take your animal here!! This is the worst establishment ever. Took my chihuahua in to get his broken leg fixed. They quoted me $300 on the high end to fix his leg. They ended up charging me the $300 but they didn't fix his leg. They referred me somewhere else who told me he needed plates or amputation. After a second opinion I was told by the second vet that for $300 they should have splinted his leg not just wrapped it. They took my money and did nothing for my dog. Monica and the office staff need serious retraining or not to work in public service. They are rude and unprofessional. They gave 3 different q oates for amputation ranging from $350-$900. I highly suggest not taking any animal to this establishment. They are thiefs and do not even attempt to fix an animal. Money is what motivates them, not a love for the job and animals. I am the President of Yerington Area Cat Control, the only cat shelter in Lyon County. This is the vet that we use. They are caring, professional and informative. Most importantly, they treat our shelter cats as if they were their own and not like throw-always. It is incredibly hard to find a vet that wants to take on a shelter and we were embraced by the staff. It is nice to have a community vet that is actually about helping the community. Read Less

Dr Remsen was wonderful and explained everything necessary to make me comfortable with spaying my cat. The office staff needs some work though. When I called originally for a quote to spay my cat I was given numerous excuses as to why I couldn't get a quote over the phone. First they did not know and then I was told it was a policy to make you bring the pet in first to explain the value of the procedure, which has a low and high range. I feel pets should be given the best treatment without needing to pay extra for appropriate care. As far as respecting the client, that also could use improvement! After having an issue with one staff member I came in and at discharge she was the one dealing with me. She confronted me about the initial phone call again, which caused more problems. I found that to be unprofessional and inappropriate. They had put a post it on my file stating myself and the worker have no contact! Then when I call for a follow up question a few days later and ask to speak with anyone besides the worker I have had troubles with because she answered the phone, it took me asking three times before my request was obliged, I get told I am rude for saying that but a post it on my file is acceptable. I will never take any animal into this establishment again nor would I recommend them to anyone who values honesty, customer care, and professional edict.Read Less

Awesome !!! Dr. Remsen is the best vet I have ever had the experience of meeting. She takes such good care of my animals and her sterilization procedures are far above anything I have ever seen. Never a problem and the cats recover without any complications and do not even lick the incision. In my honest opinion it is more a miracle than a medical procedure. Her staff are the most professional and caring people you could imagine meeting. Always the greatest pleasure to know that all the people working there have a true love and concern for the animals they take such good care of. All of them take excellent care of my 6 cats and always get us in very quickly whenever there is major sickness or medical emergency. We just moved to Fernley,  and a friend recommended the Animal Care Center.   I took my new puppy in for her vaccinations,  and Dr. Remsen and her staff knocked it out of the park!   They were able to get me in on the same day i called,  and from the moment i walked in the door,  everyone was wonderful!  I look forward to continuing with my pets' care at this office. Been going to Dr Remsen for 10 years now. Havent had even the slighest problem. We made our first appointment before moving to Fernley. Our dog Bailey had surgery and was going to need follow up care after we moved. They cordinated care even before we moved. We trust our family with Dr Remsen and her staff. Dr Remsen has gone above and beyond for us so many times its hard to explain the depth of our appriciation here. Been a client since moving to Fernley in 2011. Dr. Remsen and her staff have always been nothing but kind and caring to me and my Great Danes. I've never found the office anything other than immaculately clean and never had any trouble getting an appointment in a reasonable time. They have also always managed to squeeze me in when I've had more urgent needs and the pricing is right in line with every other vet I've ever used and more reasonable than many. For many years this was the only animal clinic in town. I hated going in there. Lots of rude receptionists over the years...and the prices got higher and higher. I've always had 2 dogs...and 2 or 3 cats.Then...a new clinic opened...in the old post office building. Lower prices and nice people. I go there now. Read Less

My mini dachshund, like many small dogs, has to have her anal glands expressed about once a month. It is unpleasant for the dog, the technician, and me! However, after taking her to several other vets, I am very happy with the treatment by Dr Laura's staff. They are as gentle as possible with her, I never hear her yelp, which I often heard in other vet offices. One office in town actually had me hold her while he did it and she cried the whole time. If there was a way to not give this clinic a rating at all I would. I recently moved to Fernley and walked in to schedule an appointment and make copies of my pets records. I have 2 large dogs. The staff was rude and impatient. It took 10 minutes for receptionist to acknowledge I was there and then acted like I was inconveniencing her to help me.When I asked about scheduling an appointment to update vaccines she said they had nothing available until next week and since this was not an emergency I should be happy that they could get me in that early. I asked about licensing my dog in Lyon county and the requirements and she said that was not her department and that I would need to contact the City and ask them.The clinic was dirty and smelled horrible.The staff was inconsiderate and unintelligent.I would not recommend this facility to anyone. I did not schedule an appointment instead drove to other clinic and walked in and they saw my dogs within 15 minutes with no extra fee as a walk in. Read Less
