Never go here. There is an emergency vet clinic called Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center which is open 24 hours, is less expensive, and the care is much better. I brought my cat in, and the vets here saw she was severely anemic. They told me I needed to give her a blood transfusion, and wanted to run other tests. I am a poor student, and this cat meant everything to me. I told them that any tests that could wait, any test I could run at my primary vet. They told me certain test (FIV, Feline Leukemia) could wait, and so we agreed on that. They gave her the blood transfusion. The next day, I learned they had not taken a blood sample beforehand, so every test I ran at my primary vet was suspect because we didn't know what was coming from the transfusion blood and what was hers. It made everything so much more painful because I couldn't be sure if she was going to get better, or if I was prolonging her suffering for no reason. The vets who learned about this as I was desperately looking for answers all agreed this was egregious. Unheard of. I put my cat down yesterday after two weeks of fighting to save her. Though this vet got her through the night, they made the last two weeks of her life hell. I wish I had known to ask for a sample, but I am not a vet. They take oaths. This is their job. Some of the vets here were pushy and rude. If you come here, insist on the best care and ask as many questions as possible. They will not do their job otherwise. Read Less

Amazing experience here. My dog was attacked by another dog while on our morning walk, and they were able to get her in quickly and all stitched up. I was worried about her recovery that afternoon and called them back three times like a crazy person, and they were friendly and helpful each time. Never got short or rude with me even though I was asking a lot of the same questions. The vet even called me at the end of her shift to check in on us. Truly awesome customer service and overall treatment. Read Less

Awesome place to go after hours. My vet highly recommended this place and I am glad I listened to him. Everyone was so compassionate and professional. They were a bit busy but the wait time wasn't too bad for an ER visit as I was expecting to wait at least and hour prior to seeing the doctor. The doctor checked out my dog (who was vomiting all day) and gave us multiple options. We chose to take x-rays because Cherub likes to chew up everything. Luckily they were clear so she was given some medications and some fluids under the skin and the next day she was all better. The doctor even called the next day to check on Cherub. I will definitely go back if I have an emergency when my vet is closed. Read Less

I brought my sick dog in on New Year’s Day. The staff was kind and compassionate, which was an immediate relief for me as I had never been there before. I was taken into a room after waiting only a few minutes. They tended to my dog quickly and gently, and kept me well informed of her progress and recovery while she spent the night there. It warmed my heart when they shared my enthusiasm and relief with every little improvement during my dogs recovery. I called them a few times during the night and every staff member I spoke to was well informed about the animals in their care. And they were always happy to update me and answer my questions. This was top-notch care that I have not experienced at other veterinary hospitals. I wish I could bring all my animals there for regular vet visits. As much as I hope to not have another emergency, I’m comforted to know I can count the doctors and techs at the animal ER. Thank you guys so much for saving my fur baby’s life!!! Read Less

They took my baby in right away and I didn't have a wait. We were in for a ruptured anal gland (poor baby) and the whole way there I felt awful and a little scared because I didn't know what had happened. Angela was welcoming and walked me right into a room where I handed my baby over to be treated. She actually calmed down my internal fears with some education and has provided me with vet referrals since I'm newer here. Great conversationalist and funny, eased my mind from what was going on with my baby girl.Prior to payment, they provide you with a break down of what's to be administered. My total came to about $543 which is steep but A: it's an emergency pet hospital and B: you don't "shop around" in an emergency. Great, friendly staff. I feel they treated my girl with the upmost care and I had her back in my arms within the hour. I can NOT thank you guys enough!! Read Less

Memorial Day weekend, Sunday, 1130pm. My pup Winston had terrible diarrhea and was acting strange and clearly not comfortable. After looking over reviews from other 24 hour vets I decided on AEC. Walked in was greeted pleasantly and immediately went into the exam room, after some paperwork Winston was checked over by the Vet Tech and then Dr. Farnsworth. Both were caring and compassionate. After going over a few options they worked with me to find a treatment that I could swing $ wise without making me feel cheap. I see some reviews upset about the estimates, my response would be that its a BUSINESS and these professionals were there to answer the call when basically my son (Winston) wasn't feeling well at a very strange time. Cherry on the top was when Dr. Farnsworth took the time to follow up with a check in phone call the next day. A+ and  I hope I don't need to, but if so I'll be back with any issues with my lil dude. That night I couldn't sleep and Michelle the vet assistant answered my phone calls every hour that I called because my baby had to spent the night. He had a very serious bite and a broken rib honestly was very scary and they thought was to take 2 months for him to recover but after 2 weeks all of that is behind and just a bad memory. Dr. O'dea- we are so grateful to him. My daughter's pup is being trained as a service dog, which is a huge investment financially and emotionally. Somehow, he swallowed a skinny nail (which one of our children saw, thankfully, so that we were aware as soon as it happened- we have no idea why it is was in that location, we thought we had puppy proofed). Dr. O'dea spent several hours trying to retrieve the nail without a surgical option, (induced vomiting and endoscopy) but unfortunately, surgery became necessary. He was very fair in pricing the failed attempts. Read Less

Awesome Vet and great staff! We had to bring our Blue Tick Coon Hound here, Saturday @ 10:00 For a toenail that wouldn't stop bleeding after 4 or 5 hours. Dr. James O'Day cauterized the toe nail and put a really good bandage on that he didn't either bother to try to chew off. And they trimmed all of his nails which were really long. The dog is mixed-martial artist, and very sneaky, so how they did it is beyond me. This is an all night clinic, which seems better for the animals and more convenient for us.The office is really clean, very organized and has a nice staff. The price seem really reasonable for us showing up at 10:00 pm with no appointment. This will be our new vet. Thank you, Dr. O'Day! Read Less

The loveliest, most wonderful people in the business. We have a long history with them back to the time they first opened and I had issues with my miniature schnauzers. Last weekend I had to take in one of our guinea pigs who was lethargic and not breathing well. The staff fought valiantly to get him stabilized for surgery on a urethral obstruction. Alas, the wee guy did not make it, but we did expect this based on the initial exam. Dr O'Dea never sugar coated anything and gave me several treatment options. I was free to chose what to do. Nothing was pushed on me. And when our sweet Rose passed, they called to refund part of the payment for the procedures they did not perform. Thank you to everyone at Animal Emergency Center! GF and I were woken up around 3am by Raven vomiting. She was severely retching and was experiencing dyspnea. We brought her to AEC where we were warmly greeted by the front desk lady, Angela. She got us set up in one of the room and told us someone would be with us shortly. After a few minutes the nurse came in and took Raven's history for Dr. O'Dea. She was so sweet!  She kept reassuring us that everything would be okay. In addition, she seemed more distraught about our puppy being sick than we were. She truly displayed a high level of compassion and empathy. We were helped by Dr. O'Dea DVM who was the medical director of AEC. He was very clear on his plan of action and walked us through what his thoughts were. He said we would start with parvo ELISA test first to rule that out immediately, then run multiple view of X-ray to rule out GI obstructions, and then finally blood tests if nothing else is found. Everything was done in a timely manner, but we didn't leave until 5:30am because we were waiting on a board certified radiologist to read the radiographs. Dr. O'Dea asked me if I was in the medical field and I told him I would be starting medical school soon. He seemed to ease up a bit and he began going more into the specifics. He walked us to the back room and showed me the high definition radiographs. He scrolled through the different views and showed me a suspicious object in the jejunum. He said that it could be something as benign as fecal matter/gas or it could be a foreign body... but the reason he was worried was because he noticed faint striations. After showing us the radiographs, he started to explain the medicine in more depth. He mentioned that he was going to administer Unasyn which would target a broader range of bacterium (certain gram +, gram -, and anaerobes) than Flagyl (anaerobes). I loved that he was explaining everything in great detail so that I could have a better understanding of what's going on. All in all, I was very happy with the care I received at AEC. Every staff member that I spoke to was nothing short of amazing. In addition, Dr. O'Dea was straight forward and honest with me. The cost set me back $1,144 which is pretty steep, but I'd rather pay one thousand now than several thousand dollars for more invasive treatment later. Read Less

Let me start with the fact that the flamboyant receptionist at the front should NOT be working at a place where people come in upset and distraught. He is the entire reason I REALLY hated this place. I came here on Monday night because my sweet baby of 19 years was having MAJOR breathing problems. Now, mind you, none of you out there know my 19 year old cat. Just the day before she was her spunky self. It was almost like she was having seizures, and even fell off the bed and she started moaning. The reason I went to this place is I had picked up a magnet and it was on my fridge. They put her on oxygen, and an hour later, because I could only come up with half of the money I was told they couldn't do anything more. Now guess what, do you REALLY think I am going to read the fine print that you do not do payment plans. I came in sobbing...you TELL ppl these things. I know they did NOT do any type of exam even tho I was charged $153 still. And now my baby for the past 3 days has had 6 more episodes. The vet seemed overly tired, although she was nice, and the vet tech was great. BUT, the dude, well, he was reason I left bawling as well. A complete jerk. Do yourself a favor and research before you go here, and if you do go there, hopefully that guy has been fired by now. It was appalling!!!! I am new to Vegas and hadn't researched yet. Read Less

No sense of urgency. The Vet I dealt with, Dr Misraji, wasted all this precious time while bombarding me with irrelevant medical jargon. It was an emergency situation, Im sobbing my eyes out, and she is slowly, painfully, bleeding out each sentence as if she's trying to explain algebra to a child or teach a knitting class. I was dying for quick answers and straightforward talk, and she kept talking in slow rambling, painful, long circles with huge medical explanations, like she was giving a report in school. I seriously almost wondered if she wanted my dog to die while she talked and talked. I was so frustrated. The staff made no eye contact and were not kind. The bill was totally outrageous beyond words- $415 for honestly, basically nothing except a simple look inside my dog's throat and an hour of talking. I paid $300 for X-rays that didn't even show up on the disc they gave me, and she didn't even explain or show them. I was in too much of a hurry to care. I went straight to another emergency vet afterwards, all the way across town! To tropicana and durango- and got the help I needed, a diagnosis, two take home prescriptions, simple, straightforward, to the point, quick talk with a real sense of urgency, and all at 25% the cost of this place. One star because at least they are open during emergency hours and it's better than nothing hopefully for more simple emergencies (?) and there are probably other vets there that speak clearly, quickly, and in simple terms to distraught pet owners.
