I've used Banfield off and on for a little over 10 years now. Sometimes I meet doctors who know what they're talking about, but I've also met some who just don't seem to care, type symptoms into a computer and just pick one as a diagnosis for my pets. Because they're cooperatly owned the doctors work on commission and of course want to run every test they can to get more money out of you. I finally found a different vet that I trust and love working with that I never have to work with Banfield again. I was surprised that when I brought my dog in for his dental cleaning, and brought up his leg that he sometimes limps on, that they didn't want to run tests. Instead they completely ignored his leg and instead wanted to even more to his mouth so I would pay more money for that. Always disappointed with Banfield. Read Less

BEWARE! If you get the wellness plan it is a 12 month contract. If you try to cancel they will charge you a certain fee. Which mine would be $298.00 The representatives at the location do not present it as a contract. They make it sound like you have a month-to-month agreement. Then when I called and spoke to somebody they laughed. Part of it is our responsibility as a person to read what we're signing. However, it's bad business practice to not let someone know especially if you want to keep a customer exactly what they're signing up for. I did the calculation and it is hundreds of dollars cheaper to go to a low-cost clinic or by the vaccinations online yourself, and for wellness check up you can go to a A low cost veterinarian. If you have a puppy you can go to the low cost clinic for a total of $170 for all three series of vaccinations and the two exams for the year. Read Less

LOOOVE this place! since day 1 I've had nothing but caring people around my cat, Skylar! I remember just having my cat for less than 24hrs ( at that time she was just a baby kitten, she was less than a month old ) I called Banfield and I let them know that Skylar was not pooping or peeing at all whatsoever! she told me that it was fine if the kitten didn't poop but there was no reason for her not to pee, so she suggested to bring her in. I asked how much it would cost me and she said that if I went to their website there would be a coupon to print out and that the first visit would be 100% COVERED! I took Skylar in and one of the dr's saw her, stated she was in very good shape, told me to keep bottle feeding her for another 2-3 weeks and sent us on our way. at check out the ladies at the desk let me know about Pet Plans that can cover pet visits, vaccinations and more. AND they are affordable! so far Skylar has been a pt there for 5mths, she just got spayed and she's doing great thanks to BANFIELD PET HOSPITAL and the people/dr's that work there! thank you Rainbow Banfield Hospital. Banfield Pet hospital Rainbow location does not even deserve a one star rating. I took my dog axle in at 10 AM on Monday, January 16, 2017, I was told he needed a prescription filled through 1-800PetsMed. I called in the prescription on Monday at 1 PM, the representative at 1-800PetsMed contacted Banfield Pet Hospital with no answer. The next day I called Banfield Pet Hospital on six occasions , and the best response they can give me was Dr. Smith will be in tomorrow he can sign the prescription fax then. So now the medication will not be mailed out until Wednesday, if Dr. Smith signs the prescription, and has it faxed over before 2 PM Eastern standard time. To see Banfield Pet hospital is located inside of the PetsMart stores you would think that there priority is to make sure our pets are taken care of. Well it seems I was wrong in thinking that, if you consider your pet to be a part of your family I would advise you in finding an alternative to Banfield pet hospital. Read Less

I would give them zero if I could.  As people have said previously, they have no empathy for the pets and the customer service is terrible. I took my cat here because the rescue that I got her from gave me a coupon for a free office visit which wound up costing me $700.  My cat had an ear infection.  First they gave me ear drops then they gave me ear wash and while the vet tech was showing me how to do ear wash, she was so rough that she caused damage to my cat.  I had to then take her to a critical care hospital.  They also did several things which were totally unnecessary.  I took out the wellness plan and then cancelled it a cost of $242 because I didn't want to have to bring my cat back there again.  Also, the vet didn't seem to know what he was talkIng about. This is a vet I travel 4.5 hours out of state to come to. The staff is very friendly and it is truly obvious that they care about your pet. I have brought 2 very cherished pets to this clinic to be euthanized. The staff was very caring towards me and my pets, and after both I received sympathy cards. Not just any generic "Sorry for your loss" sympathy cards. Inside the card was handwritten notes from all members on staff. Each note was sincere and heartfelt. It didn't make the pass of my baby much easier, but it helps to know that the people I took him to, really truly cared. I will continue to travel out of state to bring my animals to this clinic. I have been taking my sweet baby to Banfield for a while and have had a great experience. A few days ago we were seen by Dr. Smith who was very attentive, competent, and in-tune with my sweetie. My pup HATES going to the vet, he hates being checked and touched by anyone aside from me. His weariness makes check ups pretty challenging but staff at Benfield does all they can to engage him. I went to an emergency hospital close to my house before and the Vet there made me feel bad for not being able to get my baby to sit still and allow him to touch him. Like, what do you want me to do if he's scared?? Dr. Smith and his team on the other hand handled my pups weariness very professionally and were able to finish all procedures necessary. I was considering signing up for the wellness plan for my baby but Dr. Smith went though the pro's and con's of me having it. Today I took a 4-month old kitten to this Banfield hospital. The poor thing had been run over and was just laying in the road while cars passed over it. The people at the hospital were professional and thoughtful as they handled my emergency as well as all of the regular appointments that were streaming in at the time. The young lady at the front desk kept a cool head, and the vet was friendly, eloquent and clearly loves animals. Since I'm not in a position to assume all the expenses of a cat I found laying in the road (I'm told the treatment would have been in the thousands), the vet quickly worked a miracle that should allow the cat to get the treatment it needed through a local shelter. I pitched in what I could to cover the expenses of time and pain meds (a drop in the bucket), but it was clear the kitten's life was the vet's priority. My thanks to the nice folks here, and to the vet's boss, who approved of the vet's plan. I may start taking my own dog to this place now. Also, my thanks to the regular customers who were patient with the staff. They were juggling a lot of balls at the time. Read Less

My boyfriend and I took our three year old, female Cane Corso, Venus, to Banfield Pet Hospital (on Rainbow) for the first time two weeks ago. Every aspect of our visit was great! We were greeted by ALE, the front desk employee, and she was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Her positive, welcoming, friendly and helpful attitude started our visit off perfectly. Her love for animals is so apparent! She has AMAZING customer service skills, whether the customer walks in on two legs or four! She was such a great help and answered all of our questions with pleasure and precision. She is VERY EDUCATED on pricing, wellness plans, policies and procedures at Banfield. Our dog LOVED HER as much as we did!Our vet was DOCTOR COOPER and he was also a DELIGHT! He was extremely educated, honest, friendly and eager to help us with all of our questions and concerns. Our baby Venus really liked him and felt comfortable with him.MANDY, the vet technician was also FANTASTIC. When she was taking Venus into the back, to complete her procedures, Venus was initially very hesitant to go (as my boyfriend and I were not going with her). Mandy was incredibly patient with Venus and gave her love and affection until she felt comfortable enough to go with her. Her patience was so refreshing to see, as I have seen many vet techs in the past that have not been so patient with my baby.We signed Venus up for the Optimum Wellness Plan, which is such a good deal for the price. Doctor Cooper was honest with us, and told us that for now, Venus did not need the more expensive plan that included dental procedures, as her teeth looked well above average for her age.We are taking Venus to Banfield again next week to get her up to date on all the necessary vaccines. Because of her wellness plan, this visit will cost us nothing extra out of pocket. Before I made the appointment, I called and Ale, the front desk employee, answered the phone, as friendly as she was on our first encounter at Banfield. I requested that she contact Venus' previous vet to retrieve her past medical records, and she did so willingly. She then assisted me with scheduling an appointment.I can only hope that Venus will see ALE, DR COOPER and MANDY again next Monday, as they are all AWESOME!Thanks to all three of you! Read Less

This place is a scam. I see so many bad reviews and every review says the same thing that I'm experiencing with this vet. Everything from the bad customer service reviews to the lack of empathy for the animals. The nurses are not at all as professional as they should be. My dogs, coming from a non-smoking home, have come home on multiple occasions smelling like cigarettes. That to me is disgusting. They seem to go through doctors like crazy, just when we found one that we were comfortable leaving my dog with she left. Every doctor in nurse in the building seems to be trained to upswell you on EVERYTHING! We are signed up for the puppy wellness plan and it doesn't seem at like it has helped. Every visit is an extra $20-40, and when you opt out of the added expenses, they give you grief and make you feel guilty. I truly feel that it's all based around what they can up sell you rather than what is actually the best for your dog. I will not be coming back here after the wellness plan ends, it's not worth it. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANY THPE OF PLAN WITH THIS VET! PLEASE! Read Less

If you like lighting money on fire this is the place for you. It is extraordinarily overpriced. The wellness plan is a complete and total waste of money. They are going to find something new to charge you for each time you come. Then try to make you feel guilty by saying they are concerned about how you aren't taking care of your pet. It is the slowest most inefficient vet I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. In fact, I recently had to visit an emergency vet at midnight and the prices were less expensive there and not by a small amount for the same exact services. No one at this office takes any accountability whatsoever and just says, "corporate sets the prices."I've never written a bad review before and it saddens me to do so now but this is truly deserved. I wasn't going to write this but after I told them I wouldn't be returning the vet called and wasted 30 minutes of my time harping on me about putting my dog on heart worm when she's just gotten a heart worm shot that is effective for 6 months saying they were so concerned my dog wouldn't get quality care now (as if there aren't more Vets in Vegas and now I suddenly would never go to a vet again) and telling me how competitive their prices are, effectively wasting more of my time. I also notice that someone from corporate has commented on all of the bad reviews that have been posted on here and that the comments are completely irrelevant. I called your corporate line already so please do not suggest that I contact them.  In fact, don't bother, Banfield's days of wasting my time are over. I will never return there. Read Less

I moved to Vegas eight months ago. I have used the PetSmart hotel both Rainbow and N. 5th. several times and the Banfield Pet Hospital (Rainbow) due to it being convenient to the hotel. My dog is 11 years old and has been kenneled many times since being a puppy with no problems. I was impressed with the looks of the hotel on Rainbow and I kenneled him during a trip home and also scheduled a grooming. When I got back he seemed very depressed for several days. A week or so later I noticed him dragging his rear end around and I saw that his anal glands were swollen. I wondered if they could have been irritated when they express them during grooming but waited to see if they would get better on their own. Two weeks later I finally took him to Banfield and was given some salve and a $100+ bill. I've been fighting this issue now for several months and have kenneled him several more times since then. A month ago I took him out of the N 5th kennel and he had kennel cough for the next month hacking and coughing every five minutes. Off to Banfield where they hit me with another $120.00+ checked his anal glands again and got more salve. Just picked him up the other day from Rainbow and he spent three days laying in his bed unresponsive to just about anything. (This dog is normally wired up and happy) I've never seen a dog get so depressed like he does after coming home from a kennel. He is finally acting like his old self again and I've made the decision never to take him back to the hotel or the kennel ever again. Bad Karma going on there. Read Less

It is the front desk that is ridiculous and not just one time but every single time I have ever had to call. If you make an appt. I highly recommended calling to confirm what day and time they actually scheduled you for. I would also recommend calling to confirm what they put down for the reason for the visit. So far I have had to correct them almost every single time. The other issue is the check in and check out time. They are sooooo slow and have no idea what they are doing. Bansfield should be embarrassed. As far as the wellness plan it is over priced and a scam. You are better off going to a regular vet not inside of a Petsmart. I would like to give a review of no stars. I owned my sweet little yellow labrador puppy for less than 2 weeks. He was purchased on Feb 8th from a reputable AKC referred breeder. On Feb 13th I took our new puppy to Banfield to be dewormed and to get his first round of vaccinations. I also signed up for the early puppy care wellness plan. A few days after having his shots our puppy started having diarrhea. The diarrhea had resolved and then he refused to drink water. On Feb 20th we called the vet and they told us to bring him in. The doctor and vet tech gave him pain meds, an antacid med and sub q fluid to keep him from dehydrating. He was tested for parvo and the test came back negative. We scheduled a follow up for the next day. We paid $140 for the visit on the 20th since the tests and meds were not considered preventative medicine under the wellness plan. The next morning after sleeping the entire night beside our pup he relieved himself on a puppy pad. I gave him his first dose of the K-Pectin and his 1/2 a tablet of pain med prescribed by the vet the previous night. About 10 minutes later he began barking uncontrollably. He laid on a blanket, became lethargic and lost all bowel control. I rooked him to the bathroom and washed him off and dried him thoroughly wrapping him in a dry towel. Since it was morning I went to get dressed. His appointment was at 2:15 p.m. I was going to take him immediately due to his behavior. Btw the time I got my clothes on and threw my hair in a ponytail without showering myself he had passed away.I called Banfield and was told to bring him in. I checked for a pulse and respiration. He had neither. La Paloma pet cremation was already in the parking lot when I arrived. The vet of the day took Bosco and the towel he was wrapped up in along with my stroller & purse that was attached. A few minutes later they returned my stroller and purse. The vet said a nurse would be out to discuss cremation options. My puppy was healthy, alert and in perfect condition prior to ever coming to Banfield. The breeder was reputable and all of the other puppies were in equally good shape. I am upset that I didn't take our puppy to the breeder's vet whom would have broken up the shots and dewormer. I think it was too much, too soon for such a tiny puppy.Banfield lacks empathy and customer service. After Bosco died we called to cancel his wellness plan and were told we'd have to pay $194 to cancel. We have already paid the 1st payment of $40, $140 for the IV visit and we only had the plan for 9 days and our puppy was now dead. Total cost for those 9 days would be $374. The entire yearly cost would have been about $480 which includes all of his 1st year shots and neutering. So we're out $725 for our dog, $374 in medical costs and we don't have a dog.We have since consulted with another vet and found out that Bosco should have never received the DAPP and Strongid. T at the same time since he was under 10 lbs. I am thoroughly disgusted. Read Less

This place is really slow on helping you out. I went in for an appointment with my dog. I went up to the counter checked in with the consultant and she told me to have a seat. I sat down on the benches they have before escorting you to a waiting room to see the vet. After waiting about 30 minutes i finally got into the room and i sat for about another 40minutes to wait. The vets assistant came in took my dogs temperature and pulse. She walked out and told me the vet would be with me shortly. If by shortly they mean having to wait another 20minutes. The vet walks in to examine my pet. Takes my pet to the back and brings her back within 15 minutes. And by the time i pay and get my medicine for my dog from checkin at 830 i left at almost 11. And their was not many people i would say me and 3other pet owners. Ive gone to the animal hospital up on Durango and dessert inn and in and out within 45minutes. By the time i check in till the time i walk out the door. I would say tho the staff here at the ban-field at the petsmart are very friendly. Read Less

I take my sweet kitty here.  With the Banfield health clan, it's surprisingly inexpensive. All visits and prventatives free, other things at a discount. The vets here have been good to him, and are very accomodating to my constantly changing schedule.  I'm always having to call back and reschedule his appointments, but they don't whine about it.  Recently, my kitty has been going here a lot, due to a corneal abrasion that is very slow in healing.  They have been super gentle with my baby, and have insured that  not only does he have his antibiotics; he has painkillers as well.  The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is that they rotate vets. I kind of like him to see the same vet every time. Read Less

Not a good place to bring your pet! I brought my dog in for a dental and comprehensive exam as well as trimming of the nails and my dog came back to me in extreme pain and a limp because they cut my dogs nails way too short and forgot the most important request I had made to only cut the dew claws as short as possible - not every nail!!! My dog also came back to me with feces all over her. She smells horrible and I can't give her a bath because of the cuticle exposure on her paws!!! I gave them one star only because her teeth came out clean otherwise I wouldn't even give them anything positive.. They surely don't deserve it. I'm never taking my baby here again!!!!! Read Less

I wanted to like them, I really did but the customer service is HORRIBLE. I'm taking care of a friend's dog who has insurance through pet smart and I am added onto their account as an authorized person to take care of their dogs for whatever needs the dogs need. Well the female vet there won't see the dog unless it's on a plan under me, but it's THEIR dog and I have my own vet that I've been going to for years that I LOVE and won't trade them for anything. What's the point in forcing me to take the dog and putting it under me when the dog is already on a plan and belogs to someone else? These people are nothing but scammers and try to extort money out of you when ever they can. The cost of shots and services is NOT worth it and you're better off going to a different vet that is NOT a banfield hospital.BUT if you do choose to go to this one, get an appointment with Dr. Cooper, he's actually the Chief of Staff AND he's a decent guy unlike the female vet who is a crook and someone who will waste your time. Read Less

My review is of how the office staff and in particular Amie the Office Manager handles the operation of this business...It's horrible. I was advised my Banfield Corp. office to speak with the office manager Amie to find out what can be done about my dog being on the "early care plan" instead of the "plus plan" which include a spay and neuter..Idk how i even got on the regular plan when state law requires all dogs to be spay and neutered..plus they made me waste time off from work when they scheduled me for a spay that was not even included on my plan...So after speak with Corp..i tried every single day for 1 week to speak with Amie. Finally this morning i get her on the phone and she places me on  hold to have someone else tell me she is in a meeting and cannot take my call. I was FED UP!!!!I decided to take my dog and myself down there to the office and try to catch her but of course i was not able to meet with her. I had to speak with a minion who went back and forth to relaying messages from Amie to me..Now right as i was about to leave a white woman comes in and ask to speak with Amie and guess who comes out to speak with her..yep you got it Amie!!!! ...absolutely UNACCEPTABLE and HURTFUL.;( Read Less

Read Less

I am only giving two stars because of the actual vet herself. Jade Tenberg was the first vet in four years to spend time talking to us about Gidgets skin condition. That's another story though. We are thankful to her for actually caring about her condition and our talking to us about our options. Today was the final event and I am calling to cancel my plan with them and finding a different vet. Read Less

Read Less
