The facility is clean and has a lot of room in the waiting area which is great to avoid any animal conflicts. The receptionist was very nice and through. The vet tech and vet were knowledgeable and you can tell by their interaction that they all love animals.... well at least my big dogs. This is definitely my dogs new vet! Read Less

I'm feeling so blessed that i found Dr.Mauer on the internet a few weeks ago as I had an 8 month old puppy suffering with a hip that was out of the socket and a wrong diagnosis from a veterinarian that I had taken my little dog to previously before finding Dr.Mauer.He wasn't putting any weight on his leg and he was crying out in pain continuously. I took him to a vet with  40 yrs exp for an X-ray. She told me it was only a sprain.  I had made an appointment in 10 days to get him neutered and when he wasn't any better I asked for another x-ray. Now she finds that his hip was out of the socket and while he was under with  his neuter she tried to put it back in. He was in worse pain and cried out just breaking my heart continuously crying . I wanted to have an orthopedic surgeon ready because in my heart I didn't feel he was going to get better. I checked out another veterinary clinic with orthopedic surgeons and a MRI machine, CT scanner, water therapy etc sounded great but after reading the reviews I knew I needed to keep searching.It was the Friday before his appt to get his stitches out the following Monday when I found an article about a veterinarian who travels the country doing seminars on stem cell therapy for animals and he's also a very experienced orthopedic surgeon with wonderful reviews. I called him and was very surprised when he answered and he explained he takes his own calls. I explained what was going on with my little dog and he told me don't you worry!  He said that he was in Colorado but that he would be back in Las Vegas on Monday. He told me to call the clinic tell them I talked to him and he wants me in Monday. I asked if he thought it might be possible that I could do it around the same time that I was having to take him in to get his stitches out from his neuter because he gets carsick. He told me he would take his stitches out when I brought him in to be examined. I could hardly wait for Monday. My little dog would scream out in pain if he even moved wrong while he was napping. So I got right in that Monday morning and when he came back from taking him to the back to remove all the stitches he asked me who the veterinarian was who did his neuter because he said he hasn't seen material like that used since the olden days! Then he asked me if she's also the one that missed read the first x-ray I said yes. He didn't say anything bad about herhe just shook his head. However, he showed me on the x-ray that her clinic sent over how his hip would NEVER have gone back into the socket.I could see it easily and it was then and I was overcome with such grief how my little guy had suffered needlessly because I didn't take him for a second opinion right away when he was still crying in such pain. Dr Mauer explained that with his type of injury it should've been fixed right away. He explained to me what he needed to do to give him back his leg and letting me know it was going to be a very delicate surgery and what his recovery was going to be like.I felt such peace and a calmness come over me that I knew that I had been very lucky and blessed to find this man.I had just been so upset seeing my little boy in so much pain for so long . Three days later he had major surgery. He had to cut away the injured bone and pull down muscle for padding in between the two bones.  He got to come home the same day with just a little incision. I only gave him pain medication for two days and I could tell he wasn't hurting bad anymore. He wasn't crying anymore not even once. Jasper had laser therapy for two weeks which we just finished yesterday.  It was explained to me it helps with healing and circulation. Im a believer! I am so thrilled with Jasper's recovery. After his first laser therapy just a few days after his surgery he was toe tapping the foot. Meaning putting it down on the ground just for a second. Dr.Mauer explained just what he was going to be able to do with his leg and when. He is putting all his weight on it today on and off it's a miracle. He hasn't had use of his leg since he hurt it. It's been almost 2 mos. I just saw him run a few min ago playing with my other dog. I'm so happy.I wish everyone could know of him and how great he is.  He does not make you feel rushed and you know he knows what he's talking about! If you ever have need of one of the best specialists it's Dr.Mauer! From the moment I found you on the internet (three years ago), called and arranged to have my cat boarded for a month before I could officially move from another state to Las Vegas. The staff was friendly and informative and held my hand while taking care of my cat. You let me call and check up on her and ensured me that she was safe and well cared for while I was away. I think she didn't even want to go home with me after, she had stayed with you.Every time since then I've brought my cat, the staff is still the same, friendly and caring. The doctors listen and address the needs of your animal and any questions you might have. Thoroughly, explaining anything that you may or may not understand. Most recently, my cat had a dental producer done. When I was concerned I hadn't heard anything. I called and was patched through to the doctor, explaining what was going on and how things were going. That surprised me and eased my mind about my cat. First and foremost, all of the vets love animals and care about your concerns. Also, they are surgical doctors. I have friends I've referred here because their experiences with other vets are mostly referral vets. Meaning, they will diagnose your pet but refer you to a specialty center for care. Each doctor has their own specialty which means all of your needs can be taken care of in house with the exception of extremely advanced internal gastrointestinal care. The entire staff, from the moment you walk in to the service you receive, cares about you and your furry friend. This review isn't based on a one time visit or several years. Dr Lopez and her staff are incredible. I was referred to them after having a bad experience with another vet, trying to charge a horrendous amount for a dental cleaning, but insisted I have an EKG and blood work done due to our dogs age. It was a great referral and we have now been going to Cheyenne West for 4 or 5 years. Our dog is senior, nearly 16 years old, and he is treated with love and kindness each and every visit. Dr Lopez literally sits on the ground with him when we visit. Her love for animals is obvious. The staff, and Dr Lopez are so good when I call in with his aging issues and kidney failure, always consoling me, and listening and understanding my sadness, fear, or frustration. i've been using the vets here for about 8 years or so. i had two cats they gave the best care to. yesterday, i brought in one of my cats whose heart was racing, but whose breathing was labored. this had been going on for a short time. i had dr. shaver this time. after taking x-rays, while my cat was on oxygen, it was decided that what was best for the cat was to put her down. she made sure i was as informed as i could be in making my decision. i sort of had a feeling this was going to be the outcome. dr. shaver could not have been nicer and more comforting. anyone who has had to put down a pet knows how hard it is. although my husband and i are very sad over this loss, i know that with dr. shaver's help and support i made the right decision. this was my first time with dr. shaver, but i have used other vets here, and i have to say it's probably one of the best places one could take a sick pet. everyone is so nice. the vets are very skilled and professional, but also very kind, and the place is immaculate. i just want to also thank dr. shaver for the kindness she showed to me yesterday. it was very much appreciated. This hospital offers exceptional veterinary care. My pets have been patients since 2004, and have been "cared" as one of their own. Their modern and personal approach for care and treatment is what sets them apart. The whole staff gets involved when it comes to patient care, and perhaps that is their biggest asset; that unique connection the runs from the doctors, to their technicians, and office staff. The staff knows who you are, and who your pet is. Add to that exceptional doctors like Dr.Hewitt, Dr. Shaver, Dr. Lopez, and Dr.DeGroff. Dr Hewitt repaired one of Gabby's canines two years ago, and she still chewing like nothing happened. Dr. Lopez and Dr. DeGroff have always been involved with Annie, Sammy and my kitties; offering care, insight, and support. I have 7 dogs and 5 cats. I also have guinea pigs, a bunny, and birds. I wouldn't trust any other vet with my babies. I have been to many other vets in town and have been subjected to long waits, extremely high prices, and incorrect diagnosis. At Cheyenne West I can trust that they are doing what is right for my pet. My dogs are very fearful and the vets always take extra time with them so that they don't have to get muzzeled. They take the time to explain things throughly and have even called me during off hours to check on my pets. Their prices are reasonable and they don't charge for uneccesary procedures or tests. Very expensive but that's not the problem. The vets are afraid to make a diagnosis so they run up a lot of tests a still can't make the right choice. I took my cat there twice because he was having a hard time urinating and after much concern I finally took him to a cat's only hospital where they diagnosed him in ten minutes and literally save his life because his bladder was ready to rupture. This vet knew what she was doing. I really don't think Cheyenne does even though there hospital is clean ,new, and has all the equipment. You have to know the animal and if you have a cat do not take them to Cheyenne. Read Less
