12/25/2016 My daughter and I brought in a rescue dog last night that was hit by a car, a Hit and Run case.. First, we went to Lied Animal Shelter because it was the closest area from where the incident happened, but we were told that after we leave her there, if the vet decides to put her down, he/she may do so because they don't have equipments to help the dog. Also, we can't ask any questions and will not be able to check what happened to her after we leave the dog there. So we called animal hospitals in the area, but those were all closed; it's Christmas eve.. We then decided to drive to the SPCA hoping that somebody would be there and might be more compassionate. It was already dark, we stopped at the first building we saw thinking it was part of the SPCA, but no one was there... so we were in dilemma and prayed for direction. Eventually, an SUV came and stopped, we told him the predicament, and while we were talking, another SUV came and stopped. The guy from the first SUV told us that the driver of the 2nd SUV is the owner of Dewey Veterinary Medical Center, Mr Steven Scott. Well, he looked at the dog and you could see the compassion in his face and got his keys and opened his clinic to let us in. He took us to a very large room with larger spacious cages and handed us soft blankets and towels for the dog to lay on inside the cage. He did an assessment, told us that she will be taken cared of, that a vet tech would come at 10 that night (last night). He gave her water, and he told us that they're a No Kill Facility, which made us so happy. Well, this morning, Christmas day, Mr Steven Scott, the owner, texted us that the young dog was able to stand up a few times and allowed him to pet her, and has a fight on her, compared to being somewhat lethargic last night. A nurse was also there checking up on the pets boarding there. Mr Scott even had the rescued dog transferred to a much larger hospital cage this morning and said that they will stabilize the dog (hit and run victim) first before they hand her over to SPCA for adoption. What a big heart this man has- Kind and Compassionate. His actions speak for what kind of a person he is. May God bless him, the Drs, Nurses and Staff - Dewey Veterinary Medical Center, as they serve the sick, helpless and abandoned pets/animals!Read Less
