I brought my two dogs here, and was hoping this place would be the one, do to it's close proximity to my home. Being new to town, I saw they reviewed well and was excited to bring my pups in. The receptionist we dealt with wasn't exactly friendly, but it may not be in her job description. When making my appointment, I gave my prior veterinarian's information so that medical records and vaccination records could be transferred accordingly. It was to my surprise when they only got the information for one of my dogs. Thank God and I mean Thank God, I had a hard copy of them, and that I had looked them over myself and educated myself on when what vaccines are do. This paragraph will make more sense after the next few. The purpose of my visit was to establish care for my dogs in our new city. They both came in for a wellness exam. One pup in addition to the exam needed a vaccine and the other needed senior blood work and a treatment plan for moving forward. When it was time to go, I paid the bill, even though I thought it seemed off. I didn't want to be rude to the people waiting in line behind me. As I was walking out the door, the receptionist called me back and said she forgot the rabies tag and certificate. This raised suspicion because neither dog was due for rabies and I certainly didn't ask for it. The dog they said that got it only weighs 5 lbs and I try to stagger her vaccines because of this. I checked my receipt and saw that I was charged for this rabies vaccine I didn't ask for and was given in error. I double check the shot records to confirm this vaccine wasn't due for at least 6 more months. Upset, now over charged, dog unnecessarily vaccinated, I go back in to ask about it. At this time they tell me that she actually didn't get the vaccine, so I just got charged for it for nothing? Maybe I won't notice because the bill was so high anyway? I missed the vets call in regards to the blood work and called back. Was told she was with a patient but would call me later. Never called. This too could be a thank God moment based upon how everything else is going. Two days after being seen there, one of my dogs has a very strong, frequent cough. Then a few weeks later, I get a vaccine reminder about another vaccine my dog is current on for again at least 6 more months. Are they just trying to scam me?? This was a terrifying experience!!! I had to bring my dog in for an emergency visit on saturday without an appointment. I saw Dr Loose and he was so attentive and informative and he explained what was going on with my older dog. I would Definately recommend this animal hospital and Doctor! He was great! Read Less

Great personnel, really care about the pets and offer hands-on, first-rate service for animals, while keeping owners up-to-date every step of the way. We have been taking our girls there ever since we moved here almost two years ago, including when we had an emergency situation, which required critical care for one of our dogs. We would have lost her, if it hadn't been for the quick diagnosis and treatment of the team at Grand Montecito Animal Hospital. Tried this veterinarian office for the first time just to board my dog.  When we went to pick her up they said they left lengthy messages for me which I never received,they said during her physical they found a pyometra and needed emergency surgery right now, paid them to due an ultra sound said yes that's it has to be done  said I wanted a second opinion at my regular vet. Went to regular vet the next day had ultrasound done, blood and urine work also done not a thing wrong with my baby  please get a second opinion if they suggest surgery Read Less

it is a failure of a business to receive 1 star from a customer. It is a business decision to   care more about keeping every dollar rather than caring about the human being. We were taking our puppies here  for their shots. They gave our dog a vaccine we did not authorize. When I tried to get a credit for their mistake, I was told absolutely not. "The dog was given the shot." I can't deal with such a money hungry business. You cannot not trust it when money is all they care about. Read Less

Two adorable little girl puppies just recently rescued my family.    The puppies are being seen by the Vets and staff at Grand Montecito and so we have/will take the puppies for shot updates and ultimately spaying to the great team at this hospital.   The Veterinarians who we have met so far  (Dr. Loose and Dr. Stolzer) were both awesome, skilled and just really nice people.   And more so, they truly care about their little, and older, animal patients.  My husband and I are so impressed that we are thinking about transferring our older furry child's care to this group - even with the 45 minute drive.  Thank you Grand Montecito team! This place just seems like another animal hospital that cares more about getting $$$. We brought in our 8 week old French bulldog back in November. He flew over from Kentucky from our breeder and he had one episode of vomiting/diarrhea. We brought him in to get checked out and the vet wanted to check for Parvo even though he recently got a shot from the breeder. I cried that day because she said he came out positive for parvo and this Vet was already suggesting euthanasia after just ONE episode of vomiting/diarrhea. She suggested we keep in the ICU and see how it goes. And we did.. we left him there for a couple of hours until we decided to sign him out AMA and got slapped with an $800+ bill. We went home and took care of him with subcutaneous fluids and antibiotics. Before we left this Vet still was suggesting euthanasia and basically told us he would probably not make it in a couple days. But we took him home anyway. He was vomiting still, but no more episodes of diarrhea. We took him to another vet and they said it could have been a false positive result since he had his parvo shot a couple of days ago and the vomiting/diarrhea may have been from stress from the flight/being away from his mom and siblings. Anyway.. our Frenchie is now SIX months old and healthy!  I would not take him back here ever! Seems like this Vet did not diagnose him correctly and just wanted money. Read Less

Love this place. Dr. Lewis and Dr. Hammond are absolutely wonderful. We are super picky with who takes care of our little dudes but this crew is always awesome. From the front desk staff to the doctors this place really does a great job. I have had everything from surgeries to boarding done here and it's never a bad experience. Highly recommend this place!! We were practically one of their 1st clients when they opened and would never go anywhere else for care as well as boarding our dogs. When I moved to Centennial Hills, I immediately started taking my Jewel girl to Grand Montecito. I admit I was sometimes frustrated by the long wait times, but I never felt as though the doctors were rushing through our visit when they got to us, so the wait time was usually worth it. They took great care of Jewel for years, helped us manage her thyroid condition and toward the end of her life, they referred us to a wonderful specialist when she was diagnosed with cancer. The best care by far was Jewel's last day, when the doctor came to our home, allowing her to live her last moments in her favorite spot with no anxiety of being in the office. The doctor and tech who came with her showed so much compassion for us and for Jewel and it was the most comforting way to say goodbye. Days later we received a hand written note from the doctor and staff. I will gladly take long wait times for all of the love we received at the end of her life. Thank you for taking such good care of her for so many years and for the compassion you all showed to us.Read Less

we have been taking our dogs there for awhile and have been happy with everything- today we had to take in our elderly cat who for the last week started showing some bad signs- we have been thru this before with other cats and we knew the old guy was not going to pull out of it- Dr. Lewis was very kind and sympathetic and made the situation easier for us to handle Read Less

Wonderful Doctor, wonderful staff. She helped my Gabie was loved and respected until her last breath. Love this girl so much and letting her go was so hard, but Doctor Stolzer was so helpful and loving. She took all the time it needed and even loved on her herself. Will be thankful for ever for that. Super disappointed!! I took my dog in when his ear got cut open. The last time I used them I got care credit through them and they had a sign posted but never informed me that they no longer take it, they tried to tell me my dog needed a $900 surgery and said that stitches would not work. I asked the front desk how much it would cost just for the visit and the medicine and they told me $100 which Was ok ! Then I told them I wanted a second opinion they brought my dog out with a cone and a wrap around his ear where his breathing was struggling! (it was way too tight around his neck.) I asked them why they put the cone on him he can't reach his ear and why the wrap they said that he will need the cone for surgery they did not bother to ask if I already had a cone ( which I did), and I did not approve the surgery I immediately took off the wrap and the cone then they proceeded to charge me an extra $60 I asked why The extra $60 charge they told me it was for the cone and the wrap.. I asked if they ever cleaned out his ear before they wrapped it and they never cleaned the ear out because they did not want to have it wet! Well if that's the case why did they wrap it that keeps the ear moist? So my bill went from $100 to 160 after I mentioned the second opinion! That same day I took my dog to a different vet which was my foster dogs vet he said he would have stitched it said the ear looks OK to let it heal on its own , within four days the ear healed beautiful... I'm very disappointed in Montecito Animal Hospital I used to love them my dog had surgery there did a great job in the past .. They put my cat down there did a wonderful job but every time I go in there it's a new doctor now. My new vet requested my dogs paperwork and it took them twice to call still never got it so they had asked me to call them to finally get it Now instead of driving two minutes to my vet I drive 40 minutes but I would much rather drive 40 minutes and gets good service and not feel like I'm getting ripped off! We've only been going to Grand Montecito for about 9 months, but this is our permanent vet! Prices are reasonable, they're very understanding, everyone is kind, and they take great care of my girls. When it came time for one of my furbabies to cross the Rainbow Bridge, they were compassionate and caring. Despite the experience, I couldn't have asked for better care for either of us. Read Less

Having recently returned to this vet, as I sit in the exam room a full 30 minutes after my appointment time with no vet in sight, I am remembering why I stopped coming here in the first place. My grandmother has been going here for years and she always has the most pleasant experience. So that made me want to go here when I got a new puppy . that was a bad idea. Every time I come here its a bad experience. The women at the front desk are extremely rude , I have been overcharged for shots a couple of times , and then I have had to redo my dogs shots a couple of times because they forget to send out reminder dates of when the shot is due. I started taking my cat here for his senior wellness check ups a couple of years ago. They have always been so gracious and welcoming to us. A few weeks ago, I could tell me baby wasn't feeling good and rushed him to the hospital where they took us back right away. He spent the night in the hospital and was doing much better so we took him home, however a few days later he stopped eating and drinking and we took him back. After 2 days in the hospital and some blood work and X-rays, and him still not eating we came to the conclusion that we didn't want him to suffer any more and we couldn't afford any more tests. Dr. Stolzer went in on her day off to check on Herbie and her other patients, that is how dedicated she is! The Dr. was pretty certain he had Pancreatic cancer and unless we had thousands of dollars we wouldn't be able to heal him, so we decided it was time to help him out of his misery. We checked him out of the hospital so he could have some loving at home before the Dr. made a house call to put him to sleep in the comfort of his home. Dr. Stolzer was so very kind and considerate of our grief and wrapped his little body up as if he was her own. We decided to have him cremated and whenever I went into the office to do the paperwork or pick him up they were very respectful and kind. Shortly after I picked up his ashes we received a beautiful condolence card in the mail, it was personalized for our situation and hand written by Dr. Stolzer and staff.
