I do not know how this place has so many good reviews when it's Ran by A senile old lady who can't remember your name. I feel bad for the lady at the front desk. They took my money then cancel my appointment. If you love your dog you will never bring it here. I'm writing a letter to the Better Business Bureau PETA and any other animal rights or business group possible to get the place shut down, find or destroyed. They ruined my trip to Canada. Now I don't have the proper paperwork to make my flight. All due to error of the vet. This is the worst vet I've ever had Read Less

Truly wonderful! My poor puppy Peanut Butter had a traumatizing experience at Southwest Animal Hospital and is terrified merely entering a building that is not a house. Before taking him back to get his shots I informed the doctor assistant and asked she be extra loving and she asked if it was ok to give him treats I said yes, but not too many. When he was resistant to leave my side she took him kindly in her arms. She petted and spoke to him softly as they exited the room. Minutes later Peanut came out very happy with his new friend and we were brought into the exam room to speak with the doctor. She was a true delight! Down to earth, personable, and sweet with Peanut. Haven is one of the best, kindest and caring animal clinics in the valley. Our animals (seniors and puppy) love to see Jessica, Dr. Mauro and the rest of the staff - whether it be simple nail trims, for annual vaccinations to complicated health concerns due to age. We have been patients for nearly 8 years. They treat all their customers with compassion and kindness. They go above and beyond when they can and answer all my questions. We needed a good health certificate for traveling, called Wednesday & was told by Tiffany that would get a call back, Saturday they called to tell me they'd let me know Monday or Tuesday. I called Monday afternoon & was told "we only have 1 doctor & 1 office manager, they have been out & haven't been able to look at the schedule".Ended up going somewhere else, thank you for wasting my time!!!! This is our first visit at Haven Animal Hospital. The staff are very friendly and the facility is clean & spacious. Dr. Mauro did not make me feel rushed with the visit. She took the time to explain the course of treatment for Opie and options I can take with his allergy issues. She is very kind and patient with my super hyper/slobbery fur-child. Prices are reasonable and she did not make me feel like she was trying to do anything unnecessary. One step at a time is definitely reassuring instead of being bombarded by numerous & outrageously priced services/tests in one visit. Just can't say enough about this vet & Dr. Mauro, it should have a thousand stars! Dr. Mauro is truly amazing and cares so much about your pet. We have 4 cats who see Dr. Mauro, our 2 male cats have had serious dental issues, one with tooth resorption & the other with feline stromatitis which are both very painful conditions. Dr. Mauro immediately diagnosed their conditions and carefully extracted the infected teeth which remedied their pain, she made room to take care of them during her extremely busy schedule, we can't thank her enough! Wow. Loving, caring, amazing. They saved my dog after he was involved in a car accident as a passenger. I was out of town, and a friend who was taking care of my dog had an accident with my dog in the car. She was taken to the hospital. Luckily a good samaritan took him to Haven Animal Hospital and Dr. Mauro called me and said she'd take care of him, and wasn't even going to charge me. Unbelievable. The whole staff was amazing. I've been bringing all of my family pets to Haven Animal Hospital for over 7 years. I've been involved with animal rescue for over 15 years and this is by far the best animal clinic I've seen or been involved with!! Dr Lisa Mauro is one of the most carrying and compassionate veterinarians I've known. She's had to accomplish a few emergency surgeries on my dogs and I was without a doubt confident in knowing they were in the best possible hands. I have been here twice now and each visit was very good.We are both breeders and show people and new to Nv shows. We ask the doc for a ref on a handler and she took the time to call and get us a #. Dr Mauro and her staff have been taking excellent care of my 2 labs for 8 years now. I wish I could give negative stars. Do not take your pets here! We had an emergency with our puppy, who was dying, and all the front desk could give us was "I don't know" answer to everything. They are more worried about the stupid Pokémon stop they have rather than taking in my 4 month old puppy who was in very serious condition! The staff were utterly disrespectful. They didn't give one crap that we had an EMERGENCY with our pup. The whole place is disturbing. My husband decided to just walk away, and all of a sudden they wanted to take in our puppy. Take your pets to Aloha down the street. They took my pup in, no questions asked. Again, never take your pets here! Read Less

My family was looking for a hospital, since our dog had a disease from her old owners. Her teeth had an infection ONLY in her mouth, and it wasn't even contagious to begin with. But when my family entered this hospital, our dog let out a sneeze and one of the so called "assistants" immediately told us to go outside and talk. Just for sneezing. I mean, are YOU the doctor in the facility? No, you aren't, as that person was only a sad little assistant. But apparently just letting out a sneeze makes it concluded that she's sick. Having assistants like this is the number one thing flawed in hospitals. She didn't bother to ask us for a checkup, she just said that their next appointment was 5:00 and asked us if we wanted them to do who knows what to our dog. I mean, no checkup, no thinking? Dr. Mauro and her staff, especially the techs, are simply the best. They are so good to my little guy, Atticus French, that he actually gets amped to go to the vet. Twisted, right? Although it can sometimes take a few weeks to get in, appointments are not double booked, so once you do get an appointment, wait times are minimal. Her prices are reasonable and I have never felt like she was trying to do anything unnecessarily. She gives you the options, her recommendations, and lets you decide. She has even had to talk me out of spending $$$ because I am transferring all maternal instincts to my Frenchie. :-) I used to drive a ways to take him here but now I'm right around the corner. This vet office is worth a hike though. She is a very kind, caring dr. who truly loves all furry creatures. Read Less

This review is looong overdue. Dr. Lisa Mauro has taken care of all FIVE of my babies over the past 8 years. Her empathy, concern, and genuine love for each and every furry patient she deals with can not be matched. She has always made me feel as if she cares about my babies as if they were her own. Another thing that sets her far apart from any other vet that I've been to, is that Dr. Mauro has CONTINUOUSLY gone above and beyond. One instance was when my boyfriend & I wanted to go on vacation- one of my kitties was sick so I didn't feel comfortable leaving him with anyone else. Well, Haven typically doesn't board animals during the weekend, but Dr. Mauro not only allowed me to leave my pets there, she volunteered to take care of them EVEN ON HER DAYS OFF!! A few years later, my favorite kitty unfortunately became really ill (and was diagnosed with Renal disease). He had needed to stay multiple nights at the vet so he could receive intravenous fluid. Haven is normally closed on Sundays, and since my baby was so sick, Dr. Mauro actually brought my kitty to her OWN HOME so he could be continuously watched. Seriously, this absolutely blew me away. What other doctor would be so caring as to bring a patient into their own home just to ensure they are properly cared for??The vet techs/front of the house staff is amazing as well. Jessica (and Heather, although she is no longer there), are my favorites. They are equally as caring and make you feel as if you're not just a client. You really get a sense that Dr. Mauro's staff really love to work for her. Although it has been a couple years since my last baby passed away, I will still occasionally pop over to Haven just to visit & say hello to Dr. Mauro & Jessica. I spoke at a 3 day conference and things went amazing, I felt like I delivered what God wanted me to deliver. On the last night (Thursday) I got a call from a veterinarian I'd never met, that my dog was at a vet's in Vegas and had been in a car accident. Evidently Jenny was driving my truck with Napa (my dog) in the back and she had a seizure, lost control and she hit a pole. She's in the hospital now, had emergency surgery, then exploratory surgery to make sure leg wasn't infected and reconstructive surgery. She broke upper and lower leg bones and destroyed her knee, and has broken ribs from the seatbelt. Napa, my dog, was in the back seat and after the first vet did X-rays on him, she saw he was getting water in his lungs and needed to go to the ER. Friends picked him up for me and got him over to the doggy ER. He was in an oxygen tank for a couple days and is already home. I knew everything was going to be ok from the start when the vet called me and said, "I have Napa, I'm going to do anything he needs, and I'm going to do it for free." I have been going to Haven Animal Hospital for many years (I think my first visit was 9 years ago). I have been there for routine visits, social visits, and the occasional sad visit. I am always in shock with the spectacular service I receive. Just like many other people, my animals are family members and Dr. Mauro and the entire staff at Haven Animal Hospital are an extension of my family. I know that I can count on Haven Animal Hospital to give my pets the care they deserve while keeping me informed in a no-nonsense manner. I am unable to express, in words, how satisfying it is knowing that my dogs and cats will get the best possible treatment and there is NEVER a surprise when it comes to billing. In any industry, you will find the low price leaders, with less than adequate abilities, and the high-quality high-priced leaders. Somehow, Haven Animal Hospital has found a way to give HIGH QUALITY SERVICE and CARE with reasonable pricing. My coworker recommended Dr. Mauro & I wish I knew about her & her hospital sooner.My dog of almost 16yrs, Lil, was diagnosed w/ congestive heart failure & tracheal collapse in September 2014. This past February, I decided to go to Dr. Mauro to get a second opinion for her condition & treatment. Although Dr. Mauro suggested a few treatments that could help prolong Lil's life, she was never pushy about it. She allowed me to decide based on what I thought would be best for Lil. Being realistic, I decided to keep her on the medication she was on & hoped for the best.Age played a huge factor for Lil's condition, and on June 30th, Lil passed away =(I was surprised that they sent me a sympathy card when she passed... But I was even more amazed that the ENTIRE staff personally signed & wrote their own message as well. I honestly didn't expect that, but that was very thoughtful & comforting.The care that we received from their facility within the 4months we were with them surpassed the treatment we received from the other animal hospital we were with for several years.I'd honestly recommend Haven Animal Hospital to anyone with a pet. They treat your pet with genuine love & care, the same way I cared for Lil (a family member).If the time comes that I'm ready for another dog, I'd definitely go back to Haven. I've been with this office for years and it's sad to see the quality of care for the animals and their owners get lost in the ever growing bills and lack of time to even speak with owners. I finally had to make a change to another vet when Dr. Maura couldn't take the time to tell me why my dog was sick but the staff had time to charge me $300+ and hand me my dog in the lobby with a bottle of pills. If your looking for a new vet this one is too over loaded and over priced. I would recommend you find one who has the time and love to care for both your family pet and your concerns Read Less

Moved here in 2013 from Colorado.My best friend companion could NOT take the cold any longer.He seemed to thrive under the warmer temps and blue skies.My groomer recommended Haven and I was THRILLED!!Altho Bishop was a senior pup he was ALWAYS treated with a gentle touch,compassion and love--he loved the people (they always treat me in the same manner) At the ripe young age of 13 he had become blind,deaf and could no longer walk--with the heaviest heart all animal lovers have it was time to go to Rainbow Bridge--broken hearted my son,Bishop and I went for our last ride--The agony is real (healing takes such a long time). Great location for pet health needs.This will be short a review because I was only in here for about 20 minutes, but this place exudes warmth and compassion. I recently found a stray dog near the corner of Blue Diamond and Decatur. She was looking very thin, very dirty, and was insanely sweet. I "Yelped" animal shelters and Haven Animal Hospital came up on search, solid reviews, good info, plus they offer free chip checks for strays. I brought in the pup and the staff was very attentive and helpful to the situation. They checked for a chip and offered me a free leash seeing as I didn't have one. Sorry pup. I'm a cat owner. There's was no chip to be found and sadly Haven doesn't take in strays anymore due to space issues, but they did offer multiple locations where I could take this lost furry friend. I ended up taking her to the ASPCA and after walking for two seconds, I calmly walked out and left the dog with my mother. Yikes! I don't live in this area, but if you do and are looking for a good veterinarian for your animals, Haven might be a good choice. P.S. - The dog was named Gladys and now lives with mother. Awwwwwww! I can't say enough great things about Dr Mauro, her staff and clinic. I brought my dog in for a routine rabies vaccine and Dr Mauro, being the thorough doctor she is, did a physical exam that included an anal gland check. She found a nodule that had to be taken out and biopsied. The result was carcinoma. My dog has an excellent prognosis today because this 'incidental finding' was DETECTED and QUICKLY dealt with. If it weren't for Dr Mauro, the tumor undoubtedly would have been a much bigger issue sometime in the not too distant future. Dr. Mauro has a very special kindness and gentleness when working with animals. My dog has been a patient there for a couple of years through a wide variety of medical needs.
