My family and I have been brining our dogs here for the past 10 plus years.  Doctor Wesen is amazing. While no one can tell us what was wrong with our baby, he was able to diagnose her and had her back to being healthy with just one pill a day. I love this place!!! I can call with questions and they answer them right away. Always asks how all of my pups are not just the one they are seeing. Took great care of my dog when she was pregnant. Even meet with all the new owners to answer any and all question they had for them. Goes above and beyond. And if you ask what puppy food you dogs should be on they dont push just one they look at what your dogs needs are. Even some of the new people stayed with them so they get to see them growing. I was looking for a Pet clinic online and found this office very close to my house, the staff at the front is very friendly, professional and care about pets and the owners, the waiting was very short after we check in. The Lobby very clean, nice decoration and the room are clean and nite too. Dr Randall was very passionate with my puppy, she truly care about animals and was very helpful and provide a lot of detail and information, they treat your pet with love that you really enjoy the time there. My dog was really calm for being the first time at the Vet, and the prices very reasonable and affordable. Myself and my husband have been taking our animals to Mauer Animal Clinic for over 13 years, and other family members even longer.  Dr Wesen is our doctor of choice but they're all great, and the staff as well.  We've had schnauzers for over 14 years and still have our Jack, but were getting a new puppy soon, a golden doodle, and we wouldn't dream of taking her or him (don't know which yet) anywhere else.  As a pet sitter, I highly recommend Mauer Animal Clinic no matter where you live in Las Vegas, we live in the southwest part of the valley, they're worth the drive. Took my shi-poo to a clinic pebble animal clinic after she dove on bed and wrenched her hind legs...that vet wanted to do a $6k surgery on her..it's not the money..I researched it and found it was no guarantee she'd ve better in fact maybe worse..I didn't know what to do then I ran across article on dr. Wessen.  He specialized in this type of surgery so i expected he'd want to cut...instead I was pleasantly surprised..he too a conservative approach with Dasaquin supplements abd shots.  My dog is doing great ..running..jumping..though I try to deter jumping as it's not good for her..shes a happy dog.  Thanks to this wonderful vet.  The facility is not fancy..it looks old but they really care.  We also had both dogs teeth done..great care.  I have to go near my house for basic shots because they are far from us and it's hard to take the dogs across town but for anything serious or anything requiring anesthesia. .it go to dr wessen. I drove by the clinic one and the sign caught my attention. I was in need of a vet so I decided to check them out. I was happy to read they have mostly positive reviews. I've visited them twice already and I'm very happy with everything. It's not one of those overpriced vet clinics. It's affordable and the vets are reliable. They took great care of my baby Gumball. The Dr. explained everything I needed to know in details. The wait time is not bad either. Overall I am very pleased with the service, the knowledge and the cost of the services. We took our cat to see Dr Wesen for a dental cleaning and we knew she was going to need some teeth pulled.  Dr Wesen is absolutely Amazing!!!! He called to check on our cat and we needed to bring her back in the next day because she was vomiting and in some pain after having her teeth pulled. Dr Wesen gave her an IV and anti nausea medication. Same day she started to eat again and back to being herself again.  Dr Wesen has so much compassion and cares!!! My elderly dog is having trouble breathing our last vet attributed to allergies. When she started to have sleep apnea and a distended, hard belly I knew he was wrong. So we went  to Mauer Clinic where Dr.Wesen was very honest and ran the tests I agreed upon. My little dog has congestive heart failure and an enlarged heart. Dr. did not push any radical treatment, just the medication to make her last months comfortable and her walks more enjoyable.The entire staff are amazingly friendly and kind. Read Less

The veterinary care at Mauer Animal clinic is superb! I have been taking my dogs and cats there for years, through Dr. Doughty (previous owner who has retired) and Dr. Wesen who worked with him and now owns it and Associate Veterinarians, Dr. Morgan and Dr. Randall. Each vet and every member of their support staff is caring, compassionate and concerned with the health of my pets. I admit Dr. Wesen is my favorite vet as I have visited him for years and know him best. Though when my AKC Shih Tzu had a bladder stone, Dr. Morgan did the surgery and she did an excellent job! When my otter hound had to have emergency surgery at another vet during a holiday weekend, Dr. Wesen welcomed us back with love and concern for my girl! His amazing follow up care was gratefully appreciated! She had some issues that were the emergency vets fault, but Dr. Wesen saw us through them all! The Vets call you after surgeries or procedures to confirm your pet is doing well and if you have any questions. I will only take my pets elsewhere if they are closed, and then only to whom they recommend on their answer machine! They do whatever is best for the animal based on the animal's condition and your budget! My pets are my children and I trust the vets at Mauer Animal clinic to do what is best for them! The vets explain the diagnosis, what is going to happen and the procedures. They ensure you know what to do with the medications to continue to care for your cherished pets when you get them home and what to do if they have further issues. They schedule follow up appointments before you leave the office, if you prefer, or they will call you. I've taken my pets to Mauer for over 20 years! Whether it is puppy shots, preventative health, breeding, boarding, dental issues, major surgeries or even, sadly, when crossing the dreaded Rainbow Bridge, the vets and staff at Mauer Animal Clinic are caring and compassionate! Clean and professional animal clinic- I'll admit it doesn't look like much from the outside, but they offer a great level of service. I live nearby and they were able to take me in first thing in the morning at a half hour's notice. We came in, filled out paperwork (you can find it on their website to speed up the process), and waited just a few minutes for an exam room to be available.The doctor we worked with was Shayne Randall- pleasant, thorough, and gentle with my furry friend, I would work with her again. Front office staff are also polite, prompt, and understanding. Brought my cat in at 8AM and had him home with a diagnosis, medication, prescription food, and a follow up appointment, by 4:30PM.Pricing was reasonable, but I would appreciate it if more of the charges were explained- was told the fees for urine testing (~$40) and x-rays ($100) but was not given the opportunity to decide whether my pet was given an injection (~$40) or what the general exam fee was ($50), on top of my other charges. Just a heads up that they do push the Hill's Prescription Diet pet food. Read Less

My family and I have been coming to Mauer for years and have always been happy with the attention and service that we get for our furbabies. I am a serial "caller at the last minute with some minor emergency" and they ALWAYS get me in, which I greatly appreciate. They are very patient with me, considering my "emergencies" are never really emergencies,  and just the result of my craziness and penchant for worrying too much over nothing. I love Dr. Wesen and Dr. Morgan, and their office staff is wonderful. The building is old and has been there for probably 35 years, so don't expect anything fancy, just know that great things can come in very simple packages.Recently, my husband and I moved to Mtn's Edge, so I decided that I was going to try to find a vet that was closer to our new home, so I took my stupid ass and my sick kitty to the horrible Dr. Herr at BLUE DIAMOND ANIMAL HOSPITAL, which was a HUGE MISTAKE. After spending almost $500 on bloodwork, it took almost 2 weeks and a threatening call from the Nevada State Board of Vet Medical Examiners to get those lousy schmucks to release my cat's lab results to me so that I could take Diva back to a REAL vet at MAUER. Dr. Herr misdiagnosed my cat, telling me she had a bladder tumor when she did not, obviously trying to bleed me for  thousands of dollars in unnecessary treatments and ultrasounds.  Needless to say, I will never stray again. I included this information in this review because Blue Diamond Animal Hospital sucks so bad and they are not on Yelp (LOSERS!) so I could not give them the nasty, scathing review that they deserve. The clinic staff is wonderful, very seldom have I waited past my appt time, and the doctors obviously live their clients. The clinic is clean, and they have informative posters that are actually interesting. The doctors always give me several treatment choices, understanding that sometimes, sadly, cost IS a factor. Dr. Wasen has cared for three of our dogs. One of them was going to be euthanized prematurely and he saved him and treated him and gave him over a year of good quality life.
