I've been taking my Golden Retreiver and Husky to the Siena Animal Hospistal for 10 years now. DR. Susan Keeney is outstanding in her care of my 2 dogs. She does followup phone calls to check on how they are doing if more serious treatment or surgery was required. The staff is very knowledgeable and caring. The emergency room is unorganized, inefficient, and the behavior of the people in the waiting area is deplorable. The security allowed a woman to verbally threat several people and did NOTHING about it. They pull you in and out of the lobby multiple times and give you ZERO information. The staff was very sweet and accomodating. Our first visit was free and very pleasant. Their spaying procedure seemed a bit pricey-- with all the add-ons i needed to get with it. Dr. Hampe and Lynne in the front office are very nice. Neither of them were here the day I took my dog in. I went in at 5:45 PM after noticing my dog excoriating her skin. The front office told me this would constitute an "emergency visit." I told them their office did not close until 6 PM. No people in the waiting room. The Vet. must have her head up her butt. Don't bother going here...They could care less about customer service and the two front office people only cared about going home. Horrible customer service! Save yourself the hassle. Read Less

Super clean and friendly animal hospital! I took my two kitties there for their vaccines and a nail trim. I was most impressed even upon the initial phone call- the rep was soo nice, warm, and gave a very comprehensive explanation of their services and prices. She readily offered me a tour of the facility, which I accepted before bringing my fur babies. Again, everyone was super friendly and pleasant, the facility clean, and they even offer you bottled water and coffee. I completed my paperwork when I finished my tour, so when I brought the cats for their appointment, I didn't need to complete it. I was a few minutes early, but they took me to an exam room right away.My only minor complaint, which is what knocked down a star, was that the tech seemed pretty inexperienced and nervous- he had a hard time getting basic vital signs, almost forgot to take one's temperature, and had a tough time with the other one. The doctor was great, she asked lots of questions and made good suggestions, which I appreciated. They also have a boarding facility, which is reasonably priced, with a lovely area just for cats. My dog visits another Vet but they are now closed on Wednesdays. I took him in to Siena early Wednesday morning because of a problem with his right paw. The front staff made me feel very welcome and they attended to my dog quickly. The Vet came out to explain what they were doing to my dog and she answered my questions...very professional. They are a super great place to take your loved ones (pets) they are super nice and very outgoing and kind. The staff there is very helpful and takes great care of my dogs every time I go in. Dr. Keeney has been the "kids" Vet since they were 6 weeks old. They are now almost 6 years old. We love her and have always thought of her as part of our extended family! Service is always top rate, and she is as patient as she is kind. Staff is always friendly and greets us by name. Recently one of them had an emergency and she was right there, quick to act, and diagnose the problem. She cleared her schedule and performed surgery which probably saved his life. I am indebted to her for her skill, knowledge and professionalism. I can't say enough wonderful things about this doctor. There isn't a single complaint I can think of having for the past six years. She is thorough, consistent, skilled and extremely knowledgeable. I have been going to Siena for 6 years now and I'm very satisfied with my pet care. Dr. Keeney has taken care of many of my dogs and not just general care but also surgeries and has done a fantastic job. She is an excellent veterinarian and her associate vet is also very nice and she was very comforting to me when I had to put one of my dogs down on Jan 2. All in all I can rest assured that my pets will get the best care. I have boarded my dogs there a few times and it was a great bonding time for them. They are taken care of very well. We have known Dr. Keeney for a least 16 years. We met her when she first began to treat our dog, a rescued greyhound, and our cats. She saved our greyhound's life and gave us extra precious years with him. Since then, she has also had similar success with our other pets. We have always admired her reflectiveness and her persistence to find solutions to help our pets. She helped several of them in some very complex situations.When she feels she needs additional advice, Dr.Keeney has excellent, highly professional referral sources. As a result, she has been able to help our pets and us through some difficult situations. When Dr. Keeney decided to open Sienna Animal Hospital, we naturally followed her there. Her goal was to operate an ethical, compassionate, knowledgeable animal hospital. Based on all our experiences with her, she has succeeded. Over the years, we have referred friends to her, and they all have been highly satisfied. She advocates for our animals, even if she thinks we will not like her advice. In addition, her staff has been very knowledgeable and respectful of us and of our pets. The fees in some other clinics may be cheaper. However, Dr. Keeney's services have been well worth the cost in terms of the resulting sustained health of our animals. I have waited a few days to write this complaint so I did not just come off as a grieving upset pet owner who just lost her dog. I had my rescue mix female dog for 17 years. She had arthritis reoccurring cysts or growths on her belly that sometimes reabsorbed and went away or on 2 occasions I had to have removed. Her quality of life had rapidly decreased over the past few months. Although the decision to put an animal to sleep is a very hard one I know it needs to be made with your animals health, happiness, pain level and quality of life as your main deciding factor. I believe if you keep your pet alive when they are in pain and have lived years beyond there life expectancy it is selfish. Hour pet has given you years of comfort and unconditional love so keeping them alive when they are suffering is wrong. A few years ago I had to put my 18 year old rescue dog to sleep due to her arthritic pain, glaucoma pain from a swollen eye and her inability to make it outside to use the bathroom was very humiliating and embarrassing for her as you could see the shame in her face. When we took her to the vet they were kind they explained everything when the time came they sedated her then gave her the shot. My experience with my second dog could not be more opposite. I knew the time was coming and dreaded it. I returned home one morning on my work break to find my dog on the floor laying in blood with blood on her face from licking. Her cyst had ruptured and was bleeding severely. She is 65 lbs. I got her in the car and took her to the nearest vet office. On the phone I was told it would be the exact same steps as my last. When I arrived they ask I pay first which is best because after the last thing you need to be doing is settling the bill. I then found out they were going to charge me $55 more to be in the room with her so I had to go with a lesser package because there was no way I was not going to be with her. When the vet found this out things changed quickly. They went back on their word on sedating her before the shot the vets words after stating they would sedate her "she probably wont need it I'll see if I have something but I don't think I do". An animal hospital with no sedation medication? I tried to insist but what could I do going somewhere else was not an option. When he was administering the shot she panicked and tried to struggle to get up! If I had not paid the extra fee to witness them doing what I paid for I am mortified to think what her experience would have been. If you have read this entire post thank you I do realize how long it is and I hope it may help to prepare someone for what to expect and what questions to ask if they are facing this extremely hard decision. I do hope your experience is easier than mine and my dogs. I do hope you reconsider if you plan on going to the same hospital I went to.
