My dog had surgery at their facility, while under their care, over night he started to heavily bleed. Clearly no one was monitoring the poor pup over night,even though they claimed they did. For hours the poor pup had been bleeding without no one monitoring. By morning my few months old pup had lost so much blood and didn't make it. I never forgive them. For ever broken heart. Read Less

Have taken my dogs and cat to this vet animal hospital for years. Had at least 6 dogs/cat under their care over the years. Young vets who cared for my dogs very loving and caring. Recently lots of turnover.  People often seen complaining about the prices they were quoted vs what they were charged at checkout. Had my sister do me a favor and take my dog in for a check up with Dr.Y who is great. However, when my sister asked for the senior discount we have gotten for years the front office staff became very argumentative. Everyone has the same line- "we have no authority to give you the discount- only the office manager and Dr, Knehr. She asked for the office manager to call her to discuss the discount and simply credit back the charge. Several days went by without a return call to our several calls. Dr. Knehr was supposed to call but when I went in to their office to inquire I was told he was not it. I NEVER RECEIVED THE COURTESY OF A RETURN CALL FROM THE OFFICE MANAGER OR OWNER, DR. KNEHR. What I did receive was a letter telling me I was fired as a patient and to take my dogs elsewhere. I have never in over 40 years of having pets been treated so rudely and disrespected by office bulldogs or a Vet. You can be sure I will tell everyone I know to avoid this animal hospital at all COSTS- pun intended. Previous reviews are definitely correct. I rarely write reviews but this is most deserving. They train their staff to keep the clients away from the office manager and owner and then simply fire you if you have any questions or concerns. I am new to Las Vegas.  A friend recommended Sun City Animal Hospital.My Romeo was handled with care, diagnosed correctly and given medicine and a special diet.   I am happy to say that he is back to normal.  Very pleased with this hospital, staff, and Doctors. Read Less

We love SCAH!! They were very kind and compassionate when we had to put our cat, Mittens, to sleep. We have two new kittens now and they have been great. Recently, our Marco broke his jaw (we still don't know exactly how...) and they had a chance to get money out of us for an optional surgery. Dr. Knehr recommended the conservative route of no surgery, and we agreed. He could've told us it was necessary, but he didn't. They always have same-day appointments and are open from 6am until 8pm most days. Sundays are basically walk ins for emergencies and it's fabulous that they're so available. I read these other reviews about hidden charges, etc.... They've always been up front with estimates. If you're unsure, shame on you for not asking for a written estimate. They've taken great care of four of my cats and one of my dogs over the years, including arranging for the humane end of life for my beloved nearly 18 year old cat, Puck last year. She had been in declining health for quite some time, and they couldn't have been more compassionate or kind. Dr. Miyasaki sent me a handwritten sympathy card, which was heartfelt and comforting. They arranged for her cremation: we received her remains in the urn we chose, which was inside a lovely velvet pouch embroidered with her name and birth and death years; it included a framed paw print with a tuft of her fur and a copy of "The Rainbow Bridge." In the past year, Mom has boarded my five year old, cat, Antigone four times while visiting us in Arizona. Everyone loves Tiggy here, and it is comforting to know she is in good hands. The boarding fee is reasonable; all of the techs and front desk staff are friendly and professional. Something worth noting is the fact that in caring for three of my late cats, currently Antigone , and my precious late Yorkie, we have never felt price gouged, or pressured into any unnecessary procedures or testing. This is truly an excellent animal hospital and l veterinary office. The doctors are friendly compassionate and just all-around great. I took my 12-year-old poodle mix it in with congestive heart failureand with their expert medical attention he's doing great   If you want great medical treatment for your pets be confident that this is the place you look at it. After 14 years with our sweet Missy, we knew it was time to say goodbye. I woke up that morning and she needed to be put out of her misery. From the moment I called at 6:30am to the time I left their facility empty handed I was treated so sweetly and genuinely. Being the first time that I've experienced something like this, they walked me through the process and she went very quietly and sweetly to sleep. I took my kittens to see Dr Younanian, She is very nice and thoroughly examined them. The kitties liked her a lot too and, they are usually shy around most people. The girls up front are always friendly and helpful also. I will be back the next time a visit is needed. Read Less

I should have read these reviews before coming here. I came to Sun City for about 1 year until my puppy almost died.  First bad incident I brushed off was when my dog was neutered. While he was neutered, I was expecting one fee that was quoted.  After I went to pick him up I was hit with a couple more extra charges making it about $80 more with teeth extraction, etc. The weird thing is they never called me before making these decisions so I was hit with it. Okay... Strange. I bit my tongue and went on my way.The next bad incident is when my puppy had kidney stones. Took him in and had them hold him for 2 hours. They flushed his bladder with saline and gave him back to me. As soon as i got home I could tell he was still sick, even worse than before.. He was throwing up all over the place and came back in a worse condition. By this point Sun City was closed so I had to take him to an Emergency Vet. They cost me an extra $800 dollars because they couldn't go through with a full examination or check on him to see if he's okay.  The point I'm trying to make is if my dog was still puking when he got home, he had to have been puking at Sun City when they gave him back. They must not care to give my dog in a worse condition...Here comes the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE... They kept my dog in the vet for a few days which cost me $$$ because he had to stay over night.  He needed surgery for stone removal. The vet told me they needed to do a procedure for a "possible liver shunt" which was a bile acids test which cost me another $300.  I spent over $1000+ on this vet without surgery when all my dog needed was stone removal.  They milked more money out of me to tell me that they couldn't perform surgery on my dog and would NOT remove my puppies bladder stones because of a "possible shunt."  This process took over 3+ days for them to make the decision to NOT perform surgery on my dog.  If this was their decision in the beginning because of a "possible shunt," they should have been upfront in the beginning.  They agreed to remove my dog's bladder stone if I agreed to "fix' my dog's POSSIBLE liver shunt (which was never confirmed) and quoted me $4000 (this is WITHOUT the $1000 tests/vet bills).   I took my dog to Durango Animal Hospital who agreed to remove my dogs bladder stone (ignoring the fact my dog had a possible"shunt") and quoted me only for bladder stone extraction.  They saw my dog's situation and quickly got him in surgery and over night stay in less than 24-48 hours...  And I also saved over $3000.   Also the vet at Durango Animal Hospital and the staff treated my dog so much better! I felt guilty leaving my dog at Sun City.  I felt safe leaving my dog at Durango. Sun City also asked me remove my bad review.  Nope. DO. NOT. GO. HERE. Read Less

We came here for a second opinion regarding a growth on our dog. We saw Dr. Nance and were extremely disappointed within minutes of our consult. She literally could not tell us anything, other than our dog needed to have surgery. Dr. Nance did not do any testing or even review previous tests/blood-work, yet she was recommending surgery....???!!! This did not sit well with us and so we left.  When I called to voice our concerns regarding our visit with Dr. Nance, I was transferred to the office manager Tara. Tara was extremely rude and short with me and even threatened me that if I posted a review that her owner would take legal action against me. Wow! Sun City Management skills at their finest. Like if I wanna know how much I would ask. Like maybe explain more about the synptoms. All in all, I will never, ever, go again. I feel deceived by all these good reviews up here. I've been going to this animal hospital with my fur babies for as long as I can remember. They have helped us with nearly everything in a timely manner. Recently, I did have some issues. We came in with some questions about an x-Ray procedure, and the front desk workers were horribly rude. Sad because my family has been going here for a very long time. There were three workers, and the first two we spoke to didn't seem to pay attention to anything I said. They shut me down immediately, almost forcing me to walk out. However, the third employee stopped me from leaving. She was younger, but had more answers than the snobby other two. She gave us all the information we needed, and I wish I caught her name. The doctors here are always sweet and patient. They are the true reason we stay. The front desk workers need some work on their attitudes, though. This review would have 5 stars if it weren't for their snobby commentary. Read Less

For the past 6 years we have taken our beloved pet to Sun City Animal Hospital. We have seen Dr. Knehr and Dr. Nance. Both are caring, friendly and knowledgeable. The staff are friendly and very attentive to the animals. Dr. Huber is excellent. She cares about her "patients" and she and her staff do great follow ups. I moved her from Missouri and picked them because they were close to where we lived at the time. I wouldn't give up going to them if I moved 20 miles away. They are a great and caring facility. Dr. Knehr, all the other Veterinarians and Staff are absolutely the most caring, wonderful individuals in the world. They have seen my family through our most inconsolable times. They have always treated us with respect and and have taken the absolute best care of our pups and kitties. Dr. Knehr always gives options for treatment. Sun City is so much more than just a place you take your pet for shots. We are family to them. I trust them with the care of my precious pets. I would never go anywhere else. Read Less

All of the Doctors and Staff members have ALWAYS shown compassion and care in the treatment of our 5 cats and elderly (15 years old) St. Bernard. The hospital is always clean and well staffed. We have been patients at Sun City Animal Hospital for many years. The fees have always very reasonable. I can't think of any other animal hospital that even comes close to Sun City Animal Hospital, Dr. Knehr, and Staff. I especially like the fact that the doctor who treats one of our pets is the person who CALLS and talks to us about their condition. That's the "personal touch" that is so appreciated. Read Less

Whole staff is great, kind, accommodating. Kudos to Dr. Knehr, who helped us through the loss of 2 beloved family pets. He treated our current dog for seizures, we called him immediately. He was able to save our beloved dog and now she is a fine, healthy senior. We are so thankful to Dr. Knehr and his staff. Also, I work in the medical field, and they always ask for an SS#, It is a common practice. Don't cut them off your list just because of a question you disagree with. They also work with you if you cannot have a procedure done due to cost issues. Just ask. Read Less

they ask you to sign a release form with lines to check for additional, optional procedures with a description & price. They ask you to sign, then they check things off themselves behind your back, then present you with a bill way above the quoted price. They will try to scam you if you don't pay attention. That's probably why they ask you to fill out a questionnaire form that asks you for your social security number. That way, if you get mad & refuse to pay them....they know who you are so they can file in small claims. F-ing scam!!!! Read Less
