I adopted a Shih Tzu from the animal shelter a week ago and was confused about her shots, and paperwork. I called for an appointment, they got me in first thing. Destiny at the front desk was extremely helpful, she helped me sort through my paperwork and double checked with the vet to make sure; turns out my dogs shots were up to date, and she registered me as a new client. She was efficient and the process went smoothly. The other girl working the front desk I didn't catch her name, remained very calm, professional and courteous to an extremely rude client who literally walked in the door and started insulting her, the other staff and the doctors. After seeing how professional they were and how clean and organized the office was I feel completely confident that they will take excellent care of my dog. Read Less

I can say that I have felt off and on about Vets because of how crazy the payments tend to be for our furry loved ones. But this time I was glad that I talked to my friends about the importance of having pet insurance and understanding the high cost of valuable diagnostics. Dr. Gentile took the time to explain to me what he found from looking at my cat's blood work both on the phone and again in person. He could tell I was nervous and frustrated at the cost and we tried to make a plan about the best option. I called back later in the day to have them still run the test and they were able to take my information over the phone. I'm hoping for good results in a couple of days. Caution. If you are looking for quality care. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Apparently loyalty means nothing to this place. I pass at least 5 other vets on my way to this place, but have been going there since I got my pup. I brought my pup for routine shots. I was expecting to see a vet, as I usually do, but the girl at the front, Ketsy, said she could just take my pup to the back. I was lead to believe that I would see the vet after my pup got his shots, but then Ketsy told me she could discharge him. I told her I had one question about discoloration on my pup's stomach, she then informed me that if I were to see a vet it would be an additional $50, on top of the fee I had just paid. I questioned why this visit was any different from my previous ones, and she told me that she had taken my pup to the back, in lieu of me seeing the vet. Ketsy then expressed that it was my fault that I had misunderstood her and clearly had an attitude with me. Fine, I should have asked her to be more clear, but why would I pay an additional fee for one question? All I wanted was for the vet to take a look at my pup. I wasn't asking for a thorough exam or tests, just for him to look at the spots on his stomach. When Ketsy finally agreed to let me go into a room, a vet tech told me it looked fine, but I would have to pay the fee to have the vet come in. The vet was really that pressed for cash that I would have to pay double for him to talk to me for five minutes? Ridiculous! Despite the untidy surroundings, and blood all over the floor, I had trusted this place. My pup doesn't have to go back to the vet until October, but I surely won't be taking my pup or my money there. Read Less

The rescue group I got my dog from has a deal with this place, I had to get him fixed there, it was the worst. The staff there are so rude. They do not treat your animals well at all. I dropped him of to get fixed, everything seemed ok. As soon as I walked in to pick him up I cold hear him yelping in the back room. They brought him out and he was terrified. The area they shaved was bleeding, they cut his poor skin up just shaving him. His cone was held on with a string tied so tight I couldn't fit my fingers under it. I mentioned it to the staff and they acted like I was being unreasonable. His back dewclaws were also removed (they weren't connected to bone, just loose sling) I was told it would be $25 total for their removal. After the surgery was done they charged me $100 for it. 4x the price they gave me before. I had to take him back there for his shots and fecal (is was part of the adoption agreement). I didn't trust the doctors to take him in the back room for it, the ladies at the front desk got really upset and told me I couldn't have them do it in the room. But I insisted. When they came into the room do the fecal, they lifted him up by his tail!! His back feet actually came off the table! I got really upset and she acted like I was being crazy. She went and got someone to hold him down while she did it. It seemed to me like she was pretty rough about it. I will never go back there. They treat your animals like crap. They don't even try to make it an easy experience for them. They're more concerned with getting it over with so they can go back to their desks and play on their phone. First off,, They sold us a pregnant hamster!! wow,, but, what the heck, stuff happens, this is Vegas.  So, I get my 3 year old a hamster, and the dang thing gives birth 4 days later, thus my 3 year old can't even play with her new hamster for weeks!! That being bad enough, we ended up raising 12 of these little things for 5 weeks.  It is actually quite a bit of work and took a bunch of research along with buying all kinds of extra stuff including another cage because the boys and girls have to be separated after 3-4 weeks.  Anyway, I digress.  The kicker here is we set up an appointment to sell them back and my wife went in to talk to Brian, I think his name was.  This guy was extremely rude to my wife; I really regret not going with her (lucky for Brian).  He basically snatched the hamsters from her, walked off, dumped them into their floor stock with the rest of their hamsters and handed the boxes back with a condescending "thanks".  That's it!! My wife didn't know what to say or do, so promptly left.  So, in conclusion, this place isn't even competent enough to get selling a hamster right!! They didn't even offer any store credit for 12 hamsters that are ready to sell!   And, you'd think they'd at least check them out to make sure they are healthy before just tossing them in with the rest.  Who's to say we didnt provide them with a bunch of sick hamsters?? I will say,, there are some nice and courteous employees there.  I wont lump them all in with ole Brian just because he hates his life.  But on that note,, our business there is concluded,,, permanently. We have been bringing our pets here for about 4 years. The pros: In addition to the clinic owner and one long time doctor, the staff is young, bright, enthusiastic doctors who come to Las Vegas shortly after completing their education to get great experience. The clinic is convenient to the Buffalo/Charleston area, flexible hours 7 days a week, and they take appointments and walk-ins. Also very reasonably priced and you don't get heavy-handed upselling of extra procedures. Very reasonable vaccines and exam fees.My only complaint and "con" and why I give it 4/5 is that once these amazing young doctors gain 1-2 years of experience here, they leave. Some start their own practices in the area, others are from out of state and move back home to start their own practices. Yup, I guess I have separation anxiety and don't deal with breakups well. Some of the technicians have been there awhile, so you do have some familiar faces to comfort you.In short, if you don't mind the rotation and ultimate turnover, you can count on great care, no matter who you work with. But, if you bond with someone over time, and you want a long-term relationship, just be aware it may not work out that way. Will continue to use them and we have never been disappointed. Read Less

I know petland gets a lot of negative reviews but I'll tell you a bit about my experience here. I came in and fell in love with the cutest Aussie poo. My boyfriend agreed that if he was there when we returned to Vegas from California two weeks later, we would buy him. Roxayn was the best employee that I have dealt with. She texted me updates about this sweet pup during the whole two weeks we were gone. She even came in on her days off to check on him. We came back and got him and we are so incredibly happy. Only health concern was that he came in with ghiardia but the vet gave us meds and he's much better. People that say these dogs come from puppy mills need to do a little bit more digging. When you initially look at the paperwork, the address that you see for the "breeder" is actually the distribution center. Dogs from all over the region go to one distribution center for things like microchips and initial shots, this includes puppy mill dogs. Hence why these addresses get the bad reviews and the google search puppy mill hits.  If you read a little deeper into the paperwork, you'll see that the dogs come from real breeders before hitting this distro centers. The second address is what you should be looking up. My puppy is happy and healthy. Read Less

I feel embarrassed to even say that I was considering buy a dog from this place but let me tell you a little story. Like most people, i love puppies and I love any chance I get to hold or play with puppies. My boyfriend and I share this love and would come into petland all the time to play with the dogs. There have been several dogs that I absolutely loved but none that stood out to me until one day, when I went in and there was the tiniest white and black Chihuahua inside a little hamster igloo (weird I know) in one of the kennels. He was he tiniest thing and I was attached right away. My boyfriend and I have been looking for a puppy for a while and chihuahuas are my weakness.  After playing with the puppy and completely falling in love with him, I started to inquire. He was $2400, wow, and I heard the whole spiel about the warranty and paperwork and stuff blah blah blah. I knew petland bought their dogs from puppy mills but I couldn't resist this dogs face and I had a glimmer of hope that with their new changes, maybe this dog wasn't from a puppy mill. After taking about 30 seconds to look at his "background paperwork" I googled the address of the "breeder" and immediately found 10+ articles about how the "breeder" was a puppy mill, completely with videos and pictures. If in 30 seconds, I found that information on where the dog came from, I can't understand how petland wouldn't know or I guess just didn't care. I was sick with the information I found with a quick google search on paperwork PETLAND PROVIDED ME TO ASSURE ME THE DOG CAME FROM A BREEDER. Do they think people are really too stupid to just do a simple google search? My advice if you're considering getting a dog from this place because you got suckered in as well, look at the paperwork they give you on the dogs "pedigree" and "breeder info" and literally just google the breeder name or address and you'll know within seconds if it's a puppy mill, which, guess what?? It is. And after you figure out the dog is from a puppy mill and you still can't resist getting the dog, look at the health paperwork they also provide. The dog I was in love with had a hernia that was "repaired" and was under watch. Please please take the 30 seconds to actually look at the paperwork they hand you when you're interested in the dog and just google what the paperwork says and you'll see for yourself. Crazy that they'll still buy and sell the dogs even knowing where the dogs come from. Read Less

SO SAD, went in yesterday to look for a husky. We were obviously looking at all other dogs as well and we noticed how these idiots placed the wrong dogs with other dogs.. seriously almost all were fighting NOT play fighting but genuinely fighting. We noticed two pups in particular one was legitimately chomping away at another dogs fur and neck. The employees were all on their phones and lacked interest in what was going on. I noticed an employee with blonde hair and another man (employee) head to where the rabbits were and this lady grabs the rabbit by the neck apparently not proper since the rabbit shrieked of pain. I absolutely hate this place. I see why people say most of the pets you get from petland are all damaged. The way they are treated is so disgusting and terrible. Read Less

5/25/2016 - DO NOT GO THERE - !!!!! To: Dr. Kempf, Dr. Rehm and the office manager of your hospital: I am writing to you, because I called about a week ago to speak with your office manager, who never came to the office. I saw a vet by the name of Chris Rehm in November 2015 with reference to my dog, Sandy. I spent about $350 with the shampoo, ear cleanser and the various blood tests. The Dr. came up with almost $700 plan. Informed me that my dog was losing muscle and had pancreatis and cut down any salt in the food. I told the vet that I could do the blood tests, cbc, phenobarbital test and thyroid. The vet also did a scratch test for possible ring worm that I saw no indication of. Dr. Rehm never even examined my Sandy properly, but listened to my issues. Barely touched my dog. He looked into my dog's ear when I told him that there was a brown discharge. He said my dog's ears were angry - apparently, she must have allergic to the ear cleanser that was originally sold to me that I used for years - Oti Clens ear cleanser. Called back a week later and the test was negative. Told me to call back a week later again for additional testing - but Dr. Rehm never called me back. I suppose could have cared less. Spoke with your office manager who apologized. Sandy was losing weight and went from 12 lbs. to 10 lbs. in November 2015. She was never able to gain weight back and her ribs started showing and had difficulty walking. She ate double the amount of food, but apparently, was unable to process the nutrition. She was 17 years old and I understand that is a long time to live for a dog. I saw how her health was declining and she had difficulty walking, but she was still hanging in there, because she knew how much I loved her. My dog was an epilectic dog and the reason I went to your clinic was because Sandy's hair was coming out with crusting at the end. On April 23, 2016, Sandy collapsed twice (2) and could not get up. The energy left her body and she was like a sponge. She had difficulty breathing and thought she was going to die in my house. I called your office and that was on a Sunday and was told on the phone to put a dog to sleep is $80. My Sandy is who is no longer on this earth, due to what I saw happening to her on April 23, 2016, I decided that I needed to put her to sleep at age 17. I have been heartbroken since April 23, 2016 and crying on a daily basis. I went to your clinic and one of your assistant tried to upsell the services that was absolutely disgusting while I was crying and very upset. $40 for putting her to sleep, $40 for burial, $46 for quality of life, $40 if I want to be present and if I wanted her ashes god knows how much that would cost. Disgusting and shameful. And then your assistant rushed me, while I wanted to say goodbye to my dog and told her to hold it, while I went outside to hug my dog. She said that if I didn't do the service soon, I would get charged more money, because it was close to 5 pm. The assistant told me that she saw that my Sandy was close to death - that was the reason mainly I didn't see a point to see a vet just to charge up my credit card. Your hospital is a meat market for cashing in on the dogs or any other animal. Shame on your facility. Last week, I found out that euthanizing a dog at Dewey Vet Hospital is $41. I was shocked that your hospital is charging almost double for putting a pet down. Shameful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I drove 10 miles to get services at your hospital. Your vet hospital is a rip off and the lady who referred me to your hospital is never going to set her foot for any services and neither my neighbor who has been going to your hospital. I will tell as many people about your hospital to make sure your hospital will not profit from the people I speak with about your services. I will post a review about your horrible services on the internet that will for sure land right above your website. Yelp will be one of them. If you want to discuss this further, you can call me. I was going to this location for over a year. I had tried a few different doctors at this location but the one I was absolutely not happy with was Dr. Jones. I brought in my senior pit bull which isn't always the happiest going to the vet and this was our first time with this doc (the last doc we saw wasn't in that day) The doc tried to give him his shots and that didn't work so he said he needed to take him to the back. He pretty much held his leash in the air where my dog was literally on his back feet walking and hit his head on the wall due to my dog not liking that position he was being held in. I tried to calm my dog down by talking to him telling him he's OK, he'll be fine, etc... the doc said "you spoil your dog too much, that's why he acts like that"... I looked at my husband & we were shocked he said that. At that point we should have already left, but I made the wrong decision of continuing the visit. The doc came back in & my dog seemed really quiet. I figured my dog was just upset about his shots and nail trim he had to get. We finished up the visit and when we got home my kids noticed his nails were bleeding. Majority of his nails were cut too short and were cut very odd like it was a struggle to do it and was cut while he was moving around. My dog was obviously in pain. He isn't a saint but the doc should have just came back in the room and said he won't do the nail trim because he won't sit still at all. I was so upset with this experience! Never again! Besides the location costing a lot I was not happy with this doc at all. After researching, I finally found a way better location that treats my animals with lots of love & care and are very reasonable also. If you go here or want to try this place for the first time, hope your experience(s) are way better than our last experience. Read Less

I purchased the love of my life from here and surprised at all the negative reviews. Yes, the prices are insane but they are some of the best looking pups around. I got a miniature Australian shepherd, tri-colored mix from here in April of this year. No kennel cough or any major issues so far. They have financing plans available if you aren't able to produce cash on hand. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They have a "Puppy for a Lifetime" program which I think is a waste of money; buy their products pretty much every month and if anything happens to your pup, you can get another one for free. I took my cat a few days ago to get spayed, have her chipped, and got a complimentary nail trim, paying $110. Prior to my cats visit, she was freshly bathed. When I received her she reeked of feces and urine and looked as if she'd been hit by a truck. Her arm had an allergic reaction, she was hissing and growling , and one of her nails was bloody and horribly cut. I feel horrible for leaving her under their care. I can't imagine the environment our babies are left in. If you care for you companion, please don't resort to this place for convenience. True there are good reviews, which is why I thought to try it... But none of these good reviews matter when they mutilate our animals who's well being we've watched over since day one. The worst place to take your pet if you really care about your pet don't go. These people only care about money. I worked her because I love Pet's I have always had Pet's in my life always. The kennel manager Des thinks cat's are the gate way to hell. This proves crazy people work here. Dr. Foxwell will say all kinds of things are wrong with your pet just to get money. And other employees say dr. Kempf has been seen shooting up something up n the office. Dr. Jones doesn't care but pretends well. Very few good hearted people working here, like destiny, Cheyenne, , Carlos, Alex, and Miya. Also they smack and hit all the animals that don't sit still for shots, nail trimming, and other things. I understand the animals are afraid and unsure of these people especially when these people are not gentle at all. I also believe the Google reviews that have 5 star's is all written by someone who works in the off, the all say the same basic BS to buy your trust. They all say clean place friendly staff good prices all lie's. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. The one good doctor they had left and got his own place I hear smart man. Read Less

Ok I went here the other day and I'm amazed that this place stays in business. I wanna applaud anybody who wants to spend a thousand dollars for a mixed dog. I came in here and almost bought a mixed beagle dog. The guy tried to sell the dog for roughly $2600...are you freaking kidding me??? The dog isn't even purebred and you want that kind of money for it? I ended up adopting a healthy beautiful purebred huskey for $67 from the Nevada SPCA. Spade and fully trained they even gave me a free week of health check ups and dog food. I've been told by previous workers here that these dogs often live here for months before getting transferred to a different store because the prices are so high. Which is extremely sad and emotionally abusive for the dogs in my opinion. Read Less

About 4 weeks ago I brought my cat into for what I believed was a abscessed tooth and I saw Dr. Foxwell. He did not really examine my cat and felt I needed to do blood work before we did anything and thought it might be an abscessed tooth and started her on an antibiotic and some pain meds. He then told me to bring her back in a week if she made it. I decided I did not want to come back and see him and I called to speak with Dr. K who then said we would just keep her on antibiotics for awhile and gave me more and more pain meds. I brought her back in about a week later and seen one of the new doctors and he too gave me more meds and to come back and do blood work. I decided to get a 2nd opinion from "All About Cats" and they were so kind and gentle and took the time to really examine her and she told me that it was not anything to do with her teeth that but that she had cancer and said there was nothing we could do. I unfortunately decided right then and there that I was going to go ahead and do the right thing and put her to sleep because she was suffering and if the West Charleston Animal Hospital had done their job in the first place and really examined her she wouldn't have had to suffer any longer..they also wanted to charge my 175.00 to put her to sleep and "All About Cats" did not charge me anything and let us spend as much time with her as we wanted after she passed..DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE..THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AND THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS Read Less

She had all of her teeth pulled (a total of 9 teeth) And a tech handing my dog back to me at the end of the day.  Asked her questions she could not or would not answer.  My bill SHOULD have been no more than $350. I have been bringing my pets here since 2009 or so, and of course I kept coming here and nowhere else for the amazing care Dr. Jones provides my beloved pets! They have after hours emergency care as well. Dr. Jones has been my main Veterinarian, but there are times when other doctors have treated my pets and they are all amazing! The only problem I have had is when my dog had to get two surgeries within the same month or couple of weeks and a doctor told me that nothin could be done unless I paid everything up front after I asked if I could make payments, he told me they only make exceptions for clients they know so I asked for Dr. Jones and after a while he went and allowed me to make payments, which I always made on time! The receptionists seem to always put me on hold for the longest time every time I call. I don't know if this is the cheapest hospitals, but when it comes to the health of my loved ones, it doesn't matter, I just want to know they are in good hands and here, I feel they are! Read Less

Worst service I've ever received! First off, we walked in to ask the price of a puppy...the woman who responded was dismissive and rude. The wall where the puppies are housed was ridiculously overcrowded. We asked four times to play with a puppy, the associates forgot we had asked and never returned. We waited 20 minutes to finally play with him. The play room we were put in was out of hand sanitizer so the associate told use to spray the cleaner they use on the floor on our hands, he tried to tell me it was the same thing, just not foamy. I know I was lied to, as my hands then smelt of bleach! I asked to play with numerous puppies because I was not impressed by the ones I had seen, and he told me no. And that I could only see two. We visited on a Thursday. We took our puppy here for his first physical mainly because our insurance only works with this hospital due to the arrangement they have with PetLand. The receptionists definitely did not have it all together. They seemed only wanting to get business out of the way and then back to their phones. It wasn't very busy, we were the only ones in there except one other. When we were called to go into the room, the nurse brought us a packet with information in it so that was nice. But it was supposed to have the vaccination sheet in it, so she left to get us that. Never came back. The doctor came in and did not smile even once. Looked at our puppy in less than five minutes. Was very professional though and wished us a happy New Year. We asked him about vaccinations and he had no clue. So we had to go back to the front desk and ask again until we finally got our vaccination sheet, which was pricier than others we've asked around about. Not very helpful. It was an okay experience. I honestly hope that no one comes here and purchases from this store. They are well stocked on toys and supplies for your dog, cat, rabbit, or bird, and even include little outfits but all of the merch here are priced the same as your local Petsmart or PetCo. Pricing aside, I don't support this little store because of all of the dogs and cats that they have "for sale". I walked in, intrigued at their display on the glass wall and was surprised to see that there was a whole glass casing wall of dogs on display as well. There were Goldendoodles, Huskies, Labs, Bulldogs, Dachshunds, and so many other dogs here that I just wanted to give hugs and kisses to! An employee came out as I was admiring the dogs and I asked, "Are these dogs up for adoption?" She responded, nonchalantly, "No, they're for sale." I then asked how much do these dogs cost, just out of curiosity." The price range for these dogs BLEW ME AWAY. Starting price for them was $2,000.00!!! One goldendoodle was $2300, another was $2600. One of the dachshunds was $2500. She then told me that they come with bowls, all of their shots, and some other things (I can't remember now). She even added that they had a payment plan for purchasing these dogs as well.I felt so sorry for the dogs just sitting there, miserable & lonely, waiting for their forever home. I didn't want to add this because I wasn't 100% certain of what I saw, but I will add it anyway. As I was walking around looking at the toys and costumes for the dogs, my eyes just barely caught a husky hitting the glass wall and I saw a woman's leg retreat from the dog's confined area. It looked and sounded to me like she had kicked him in because he refused to go inside. When I looked up, she made eye contact with me and then moved away. I stayed nearby to see what was going on back there but nothing more happened.ADOPT. DON'T SHOP. This is such a sad & depressing little store. I will not return and will continue to dissuade others from shopping here. Read Less

I've been bringing my two little ankle biters (dachshunds) here for a couple of years now, and I have to say how happy I am with our vet, Dr. Jones. He takes his time with examinations and is very gentle with my little  fur babies. The vaccinations here are the most reasonably priced I've seen here in Vegas and exam costs are low. Additionally, the receptionist, Dana, is very sweet and always delivers the utmost customer service. I am sad to be moving out of state, as the wonderful people at West Charleston Animal hospital have always taken such good care of my pets. Read Less

He could tell I was nervous and frustrated at the cost and we tried to make a plan about the best option.

Read Less

Her arm had an allergic reaction, she was hissing and growling , and one of her nails was bloody and horribly cut. I feel horrible for leaving her under their care. I can't imagine the environment our babies are left in. If you care for you companion, please don't resort to this place for convenience. Read Less

I came in here and almost bought a mixed beagle dog. The guy tried to sell the dog for roughly $2600...are you freaking kidding me??? Spade and fully trained they even gave me a free week of health check ups and dog food.

We took him to the free Vet visit they offer and he is 100% healthy. This is our second great experience with Petland. What's nice is that the staff knows what they're talking about and are always polite and remember us when we come in for supplies. Read Less

Actually -1,000,000,000 star do NOT bring your animal to this place they will kill murder your animal if you don't pay your bill and not explain their paperwork completely and then be very RUDE and insensitive go anywhere else but here I've never heard of any vet nary place that gets your animal well just to euthanize them even though you black bag and tell them the first of the month is two days away and you'll have money they don't care they said they are a business to make for making money apparently that's all they are if you want A vet that overcharges it's all about trying to make money definitely come to this one !!! And the icing on the cake when they don't give you back your animal and are going to euthanize him they don't even allow you to say goodbye I will be spreading the word to everyone to not come to this veterinary clinic Read Less

Dr. Jones was my service dogs vet for 5-years and was great! Unfortunately the front desk staff is not very competent or even customer service oriented. Their mistakes caused severe trauma to my service dog followed by 3-months of retraining of course never offered a credit or discount for their errors and the added expenses. The final straw was earlier this week when I was treated like a stranger instead of a long time loyal patient. I wish Dr. Jones would relocate to another clinic! Read Less

I took my dog in because he was not eating well. The needed to run 800 of tests and my dog need to remain over night . I left Half as a deposite and was bringing the remainder the following day. My dog stayed the night untreated no fluids because he was so week and could not get up to do so. He needed a IV drip and attention. The following day upon my arrival I paid my balance and went on to discuss how I can afford the additional 1900 dollars they wanted to treat him. My dog went into a sezuire and at that point had to be put down. My dog had no care until they had all the money. So If you can't afford the estimate that is given your dog will Demise. Shame on you all charleston animal hospital.Read Less

The hospital really knows what they're doing I believe, just aren't very personable and I rarely saw a smile. Would rather not return.Read Less

Read Less
