I have been going to West Flamingo since I moved into this city in 1988. Used to love the staff. They were friendly helpful and very understanding. They also used to be open 24 hours a day. Dr. Christopher Yach is the best. And still is, I trust him beyond words, with his amazing state of the art techniques. However he’s only there 3 1/2 days a week now as he’s busy working at the shark tank at Mandaly Bay, And the Springs preserve. Dr. Gross and Dr Miller are good too, however Once again they are hardly around. Some of the other doctors I would not trust with a hangnail. I’ve had a couple of terrible experiences happen with a particular veterinarian when Doc Yach was not around. They have changed staff, several times in recent years. The new receptionists are not friendly, The old ones kind of been there for a while act like they hardly know me and are very indifferent...and after going there for 30 some years, one would expect some loyalty. This is my mom’s experience. She had used this practice for many years. Her cat became ill with diarrhea in May. My mom brought her to this hospital. They said that they didn’t have any anti-diarrheal medications. They advised she change the cat’s diet. They did blood work. My mom called and nothing specific had shown up on blood work. The cat was refusing the science diet they recommended. My mom brought her back again and again. They took an X-ray. Again, nothing conclusive. The cat was losing weight. My mom decided to try an LID diet that her cat may like and would eat. That worked for a short period. Then again, with ongoing diarrhea issues. More blood work. Nothing conclusive. More experiments with LID diets. More weight loss. The cat was down to barely 5LB. She should be around 10-12LB based on her size. This hospital recommended that the cat have surgery. Keep in mind the cat now weighs, at a minimum, half of what her body weight should be and we have no clue what’s wrong with her. So now her cat can’t eat anything without experiencing severe diarrhea. She calls this “practice” and is told that since she refused surgery for financial reasons, there is nothing they can do. First, my mom IS on a fixed income. Second, if there was a conclusive reason for doing the surgery and if her cat wasn’t in an already weakened state, my mom would have definitely considered surgery. Her cat would never has survived the surgery. I went onto yelp to read reviews, because I live on the east coast, and found a decent veterinary hospital. My mom took her cat there - keep in mind, this is 3 days after she’d been to this practice and told surgery was her only option and the same day she was told they couldn’t do anything because my mom refused surgery. They were stunned to see the condition of my mom’s cat, she was just skin and bones. They put the cat on steroids to encourage appetite. They put the cat on anti-diarrheal medication (according to this practice, there was none in existence), and said there was no way surgery could be performed on the cat in her weakened state. The truth was, they felt it was too late and didn’t expect her to live beyond the week. The cat lived for one month. The other veterinary hospital was compassionate, caring and willing to try noninvasive last measures. Had my mom gone there back in May who is to say what the outcome could have been? We will never know. That practice requested lab work results and records and found nothing conclusive so had no idea what surgery they’d planned for here. Flamingo Animal Hospital is a disgrace and money-grubbing. I’m so sorry I didn’t check sooner for a better place for my mom to go with her cat. If you want your pets truly cared for, this is not the place to go. Heed this warning. The only saving grace for this practice are the receptionists and unfortunately, they are not trained to medically help your pets. Read Less

I have been a client for over ten years. Always paid my bills and loved the Dr's and staff. My latest visit, not so much. Our Dr left without notice to the hospital and I can see why. Ten plus years as a paying customers and I was turned away with blood coming out of my dogs nose with labored breathing. All because I said I needed to wait three days to pay the bill. I know the risk of treating patients without collecting payment first, but you would think that with a ten plus year history and always paying on time a one time exception could be made. My Mystique and Tank are well taken care of a West Flamingo Animal Hospital. Dr. Yak and Dr. Crossetto have both taken care of my furkids over the years. Dr. Yak was our first veterinarian and he performed the most amazing partial jaw removal on Mystique to remove a large cancerous mass. She looks like a regular dog unlike all the scary pics of dogs after surgery from other surgeons which are "specialists" in that area. By looking at Mystique you can't even tell she is missing anything. Dr. Crossetto had been caring for both my dogs over the past 3 years and she is amazing with both of them. I have many animal hospitals around my house and between my house and West Flamingo Animal Hospital but I love the care my dogs receive so much that it's worth the extra drive. 14 years with WFAH and counting.. thanks for everything you do! The best vet care we've received, with advanced alternative options including acupuncture and laser therapy, which in our opinion have saved one of our babies that no other vet or hospital in town could help us with. We have three canine furry babies that mean the world to us, one of them who has been dealing with IVDD from an injury at the age of six, eight months ago. The West Flamingo Animal Hospital has given us the most help and hope, with the best care and compassion out of the three other vets and hospitals we have visited during this ordeal. They have the nicest and most attentive, caring, compassionate weekend staff at the front desk and back office staff, always making you feel like you and your pets are part of their family. The weekend staff knows you and your pet by name as you walk through the front door, and ask how your pet is doing and know their situation before you even get to the front desk. Especially Juliann! What a jewel she is, so much attention, care, and compassion, and how comfortable she makes you feel. Dr. Billingsley is a top notch vet who has guided us through the health management, healing and recovery journey for our baby, with patience and understanding for these emotional human parents, and we cannot thank her and her staff enough.Read Less

I see that there are some really poor reviews here, and I don't get it. I took my cat in and got really good care. Nice, clean facility ... good staff ... none of the rudeness and greediness that others have written about. I don't know if it had anything to do with my pet being a cat and not a dog? The hospital is actually divided and has separate entrances -- which I really appreciate, by the way; stressed out dogs can get pretty agitated and barky -- so maybe they have different staff? I don't know. Anyway, for my two cents, this was a good experience and I'm sure to be going to them again. Read Less

Horrible hospital. All they want is your money. DO NOT GO HERE! I am saving you time, money and possibly your pets life. The level of unprofessionalism is unbelievable and it starts with the "doctors" and trickles down to the rest of the staff. We brought our dog in after they overdosed her with too strong of a medication. Then they kept her overnight for 3 days until finally she died. I felt like all they tried to do was push for more money out of us. Also, when I visited my dog I noticed that the dogs in cages, if they barked too much they would tie their mouths shut and completely ignore them. This is a hospital that pushes for profit, and not for the care of your animal. When you ask a question to the doctors or technicians, they talk to you like you're stupid and belittle you. They are rude and act like "know it alls." They don't have doctors working there, only idiots in white coats that think they're doctors that scam you for money by any means necessary. They showed no compassion when our dog died, the doctor didn't even bother to talk to us. When we did call and asked questions the technician talked to us like we were crazy crying over a dog that had just died. The next day they handed our dog over to us in a bag off the floor. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO HERE. Tell your friends and family because this hospital only wants your money. Read the low star reviews below first, don't trust the 5 star ones as much. I've worked in an office before and the staff usually make friends and family write good reviews to increase the hospital rating. Thanks. Read Less

I know the risk of treating patients without collecting payment first, but you would think that with a ten plus year history and always paying on time a one time exception could be made. I won't be returning to this newly staffed Hospital.Read Less

Thanks. Read Less
