If you LOVE your animal...DO NOT take your animal to the Carey Animal Clinic. I was taking my dog to an expensive animal clinic in henderson when I decided I would switch and see Dr. Youssef when she tore her ACL. Being that she is 14 years old, Dr Youssef did an x-ray (in which I had to assist him with and hold my OWN dog down who was in excruciating pain...seriously?), and told me with a straight flat face that I should put her down. He did not discuss options with me, he did not even explain what was going on, he flat out said, " I think you know what to do", after many tears I left the animal clinic and did my own research. After finding online that some dog owners did "crate rest" in order to let their dogs ACL tear heel, I decided to call Dr Youssef and ask his opinion. He told me "ABSOLUTELY NOT!, do NOT crate her, it will not get better". Going against his advice, I purchased a crate and crated her for a couple hours a day to ensure that she was not bearing weight on her hind legs, allowing the leg to heal. After 8-10 weeks, my dogs leg was fully healed and she was running and jumping again all over the place with no pain. That was exactly ONE year ago and she has had no issues with that leg. And if you think that's not too bad, WAIT UNTIL you hear this..... months later in October, I realized that my dog had been losing her hair, and her belly was hanging quite low and looked very bloated. I took her into Doctor Youssef who felt her lymph nodes, did a quick exam, an xray and with 100% assurance told me that my dog had lymphoma cancer and would "deteriorate quickly in the next 3 weeks *if that*"... I immediately began to sob uncontrollably as that has been my baby for the last 14 years of my life. He told me there was nothing that could be done and if I wanted to end her suffering and pain that I had to put her down NOW. He had his vet tech hand me a cremation pamphlet and looked at me for my reaction. I told him I need to go home and think about it, and he said "Go home and think about  WHAT?!, you need to do this now!"...... I took my baby home and decided I would get a second opinion before putting her down. I took her to another animal hospital that had raving reviews on a certain doctor (message me if you want to know who), I took my dog to her and before I told her what dr Youssef said I asked her to diagnose my dog. She said that the X-rays, clinical signs and symptoms led her to believe that my dog had Cushing's disease (which was later confirmed with blood work). Once I told her what doctor Youssef said to me about her, she was HORRIFIED. She could NOT believe that a Dr would diagnose with such assurance based off of an x-ray which she said was terrible quality anyway. With medication treatment, my dog slowly lost all her "symptoms", grew her hair back and lost her belly. That was October 2014, and it is now May 2015. 7 months later, and my vet says she looks "full of life", and why would you ever put a dog that is "full of life" down? So with that said, here is what I want to say to Dr. Youssef that I did not have the guts to say to him in person....... How DARE you be so insensitive towards me? A dog owner of 14 years who clearly loves my dog more than anything? If you were So sure she was going to die you should have offered to do lab draws, and even a biopsy.....but to say with 100% assurance that she was going to die is absurd to me. Next time you tell a trusting patient that their pet is going to die, DO NOT hand them a cremation pamphlet as if it is a candy bar. Everything about what you did was insensitive and truly hurt my feelings. I can never trust to come back to this veterinarian office EVER again. I will tell all my friends and family to stay away. To think that almost ONE year ago I could have put down my best friend due to your incorrect diagnosis BLOWS my mind. Read Less
