I have had 24 mechanics give better service. Ok, think of this. What made the owner/s decide to go into 24 hr emergency? From the service that I experienced, I assume it was strictly $$ vs a genuine caring for the animals welfare. Case in point: I had my dog seen on 10/29/16 for irritated eye. Diagnosis was scratched cornea. They sent me home with anti bacterial eye ointment, pain meds. On 10/30/16 I phoned ahead of time and explained that my dog's eye was irritated every time I put the ointment in. I was told to bring the dog in. I arrived 30 min. after the mentioned phone call. I had ( in the interim ) found out that some dogs can be allergic to that specific eye salve. I arrived and was told that in order to have a follow up - treatment ( 2 day time frame, same issue ) it would be an additional $130.00 plus additional cost for new salve. I immediately declined. I explained that the dog is indoor dog, sole animal in household, and E collared. They wanted to re - stain the eye, etc. So, .... in theory, - hypothetically speaking... If I brought my dog back 5 hrs later because the eye ointment was irritating, I would have to pay an additional $130.00, plus, $30.00 ointment, on top of my original office visit of $220.00 ? - Bizarre. Knowing that the dog's eye is irritated due to eye ointment , they preferred to let me leave and let the dog continue to have an irritated eye, vs dispensing alternative to original medicated salve. I was willing to even pay for alternative med, even though I used very little of the $35.00 salve. But , to pay for a follow up visit ?( in a two day time frame ) - Uh..... no thanks. It's not about the dogs well being ( obviously ) it's all about the Benjamins. It's an animal processing factory. Get em in , get em out, get em in for a follow up, bill em again, send the animal on its way; in distress. I am not even complaining about the 24 hr emergency fee, thats expected. Im complaining about the lack of consideration for the animal's welfare. They should have said " Oh, I see he was just in here two days ago, lets give him a different eye salve". But noooooo, we've got to get that cash. Money money money... not about the animal, and all about the money. Next time - since it wasn't a TRUE emergency, I will go to Carson City 24 hr, were I have heard that they actually care. Funny concept right? To care about the animal's welfare; as well as recovering costs for the 24hr emergency care. Shouldn't that be the correct way to do business ? Read Less
