I ended up calling back at 10 am talked to another tech, they confirmed my 1st call at 8 am and told me that they would get right back to me. Its now 2 full days later(sat) and not a peep from Kings Row. I took my dog to emergency Thu morning. For the reviewI had to give them 1 star because I can't leave 0. Read Less

Hands down the best experience I have had with a vet thus far! Dr. Ditsworth is very compassionate and great at what he does. He made me feel like he truly cares about my concerns with my boxer's health, and took the extra time to explain and answer all of my questions in great detail. He went to the lengths of drawing a picture to explain how my dog's heart functions! He was honest with his opinion and advice, which is something to be valued, as I have been given misinformation and misleading advice from vets in the past. The office girls were wonderful as well, very friendly and welcoming. I am really happy to have found Kings Row Pet Hospital!! Read Less

I don’t even know where to begin with this unorganized pet medical staff. From the doctors, to management, to the frontline staff. I brought in my 7week new puppy to their offices. They kindly greeted me and the my pup, while waiting for the his very first appointment I noticed that some of the doctors had come from one of the greatest vet schools in the country. So it gave INCREDIBLE confidence that I would not experience a horrible vet. I was fooled. My pup had round worm and dr Cassie explained that I pay for the poop to be tested before and after the pills are given. After the second appointment, I paid for the testing. Unaware that the second test is completely separate until I go in for the follow up appointment. But on top of getting what were my pups results back, the results were mixed up. That completely makes me mad! I call- and get from doctor Cassie that “they were super busy and my staff had some confusion on the results” I’m horrified and panicking. This is the point of when I find out I have to pay. It’s the collective surprise one after another. I said I thought I paid right after the first appointment. Mind you, someone could have said this is separate. Puppies are expensive, I like to know everything up front as for cost. No surprises. After being transferred by doctor Cassie to the staff to pay, they left me one hold for over 10mins! I hang up and call back. This is insane. Now, I’m just trying to pay. Hard task. Call back, keep getting put on hold, keep calling back, this over a span of 2 hrs. Finally call get one gal, turns out to be one of the office managers, she tells me all the lines are busy and I just said I’m trying to pay for the test. She takes my card number. I receive a phone call ten mins later, saying that they are ready for my payment. I freaked out again. I freak out again, and say what are you talking about? I just gave it to one of your staff members. Well this this now the other office manager that I’m speaking too. Amy, tells me that none of the staff has it, and makes me feel like I didn’t give my card number and also tells me if a staff member does take a Cc over the phone they do it with a second person on the line. Turns out, the first manager had gone out to lunch, with out informing anyone that she had received my cc and the second manager Amy is rude, making it feel like it’s my fault for all this mix up! Very snarky in the apology and offers to make copies of my pups files for me to go somewhere else. Treating testing like its just another test. Loosing all sense of customer service. When you go to this office you will be just a number. They don’t care for the well being of your pets samples, or the well being of their customers. Sadly, they would have better customer service if everything wasn’t such a surprise. A great office works together, informs their staff, and customers of all of the information. I went off the google reviews, and crossed my fingers. Read Less

Last Thursday night my dog started limping and the problem worsened by Friday morning. I was concerned that my regular vet would not have any appointments available and began calling vets near my house. Kings Row Pet Hospital didn't have any appointments but they were able to take my dog as a "drop off" to be seen by one the doctors in between appointments. This option was great for me because I didn't have time to do a walk in at my regular event and just wait around for my dog to be seen. My dog doesn't do well in a crate so I worried about that, but he was actually placed in one of the exam rooms to wait so he had plenty of space to himself. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful, and the doctor called me as soon as she examined my dog to let me know what the issue was. She prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication and everything was ready within the 30 minutes it took me to go pick him up. I love my regular vet office but I will certainly recommend Kings Row Pet Hospital to people as well! Read Less

This office has taken wonderful care of both of my cats. I have a five month old kitten who needed her final set of shots as well as FELV testing and worm testing and they were able to do all of this for me and the cost was reasonable. They also were able to vaccinate for rabies. I also have a 12 year old cat who had impacted glands and they were able to get him looked at and treated even though I did not have an appointment. While in their care I felt he was safe and never worried about him while he was there. They were also able to make sure he was up to date on his vaccinations, they checked his teeth and did a thorough exam. I have never waited more than a few minutes in their office to be seen by a vet technician and they treat my fur babies great! Read Less

I cannot state strongly enough how much I love King's Row Pet Hosp. Not just b/c of their reasonable prices and pragmatic approach to patient care, and not just b/c they always answer my questions when I call, or find a way to work us into their busy schedule, but b/c of the amazing people there. The front office staff are very welcoming and sweet. They don't dilly-dally while patients are waiting and they treat everyone so kindly. Even more impressive, Dr. Ditsworth, Dr. Ho, Dr. Kingery, and Dr. Cook. Dr. Ditsworth had to handle an emergency with my senior dog (also my heart dog) and he did it with compassion, depth of knowledge, and a realistic yet caring approach. He called me when he said he'd call me, he ran through all the feasible scenarios and why he suggested option A vs option B. He was wonderful during a very stressful time. Then There's Dr. Kingery; she really understands Canine Cognitive Decline and that's not something all vets 'get'. She takes her time, gets on the floor to make your pet more comfortable, and seems to tune into the dog and what he or she is trying to say. Dr. Cook is pretty good with the large breeds (we have a Newfoundland) and was able to pinpoint the mysterious cause of my pup's ails. She followed up every time she said she would and formulated two treatment options for my girl. Large breeds can be tricky to handle - their systems are more sensitive - but she owns large breeds and knows how to handle them AND their people. ;-) Dr. Cook has a more direct, no BS approach, but sometimes you need that and you shouldn't in any way take it personally. Lastly, there's Dr. Cassie Ho. I will never be able to articulate my gratitude for Dr. Ho's treatment of my senior dog. When he stopped responding to his previous course of treatment, when I thought he'd experienced a stroke and I was desperately worried I'd have to let him cross the bridge, Dr. Ho is the one who suggested Gabapentin as a double whammy to treat pain AND cognitive decline. Her out of the box thinking gave my dog back to me. He is less anxious at night, he's more alert & excited and wants to play with his sister often; he even made a run for the car the other day to beg for a ride. He is back to being my lovable goofball and I cried when I thanked her.  Also, she is a pocket-sized little mama who doesn't take any crap and deftly handled my cat (with an abscess from a fight) when he was being pissy. As someone who works in healthcare, I know what good care looks like and Kings Row offers excellent care to pets and their people. I love my pets like I love my children; to say that I absolutely trust KRPH with my pets speaks volumes. Read Less

I called at 4:45 after calling every other avian vet in town, all of whom refused to see my bird.KRPH doesn't close until 6 PM and they still refused to see my very ill bird, nor would they give me enough medication to see her through to tomorrow morning.  She has conjunctivitis in one eye, is breathing hard, puffed up, bedraggled - likely psittacosis.  She is unlikely to make it to the morning.  I have not had a sick bird in literally decades.  I was shocked to discover that at some point Nevada has seen fit to make the livestock medications I used to buy for chickens and pet birds no longer legally available over the counter.I have no idea when this happened, but it is very clear that the avian vets in town are taking full advantage of this situation.  Not seeing a sick bird like this is a death sentence.  I expect my bird will be dead by the morning and every other bird in the house is at risk.  I WILL NOT be taking ANY of them to a vet who is so uncaring - and can't be bothered to see a very sick bird over an hour before closing time because they are ALREADY PACKING UP TO GO HOME at 4:45 when they don't close until 6PM.And that is EXACTLY what the receptionist told me - at 4:45, they are packing up to go home.My little girl won't make it until the morning.  Kings Row and their avian vet - killers. I give 5 stars to this Veterinary Hospital as have only had positive experiences and the best of care for my dogs.   Many years ago, my dog was quite famous here as he was a big black lab who ate 16 lbs of chocolate bark prior to Christmas. We were told he probably wouldn't survive as he sat there wagging his tail and with the best breathe in town. Well, he did make it and lived another 11 years!  My most recent visits were for a dental on our small dog. Hugely expensive but not marking them down on that as the price is the same all over town. If that entails the best of care, particularly when under anesthetic, then worth twice the price. Calling in you will be greeted by extremely pleasant and helpful staff and equally so when you walk through the doors. Read Less

I have an extremely high anxiety dog. The staff was helpful, understanding and polite, making what could have been a horrible experience for my dog end up being a pretty ok one after all! The vet was honest, I went in with my dog's shot record, which said she needed 2, but after talking to us, the vet told me my dog only needed one of the two shots, based on our life style. I really appreciate honesty in these situations, where they could have just as easily charged me extra. We were visiting from out of town when one of my dogs ate a "lucky" rabbit's foot. Our vet at home told me I should get her in somewhere for x-rays ASAP just to make sure there weren't any bones that could harm her stomach or intestines. Kings Row Pet Hospital was our choice based on convenience to where we were staying, being open at 8 am, and previous reviews. They were wonderful. I was told to bring her in immediately. They fit us into their already booked schedule and saw us within half an hour of my calling even though, most likely, this wasn't going to be a life or death situation. I base a lot of my impression of a vet on how my dogs react, and Maggie was totally comfortable in the office, completely relaxed with the vet. They did x-rays, then kept her for a few hours for observation just to be on the safe side. I am completely grateful that they were willing to see us on such short notice, fitting us in between existing appointments and surgery. It shows a concern with the well-being of animals above all other consideration. They didn't have to accommodate us, as we probably made them fall behind a bit, nor do they have an expectation that we will ever use them again since we are from out of town, but none of that mattered. They took care of us when we needed our dog to be seen. To me, that's the mark of a good veterinary practice. Read Less

When my husband and I moved to Reno over a year and a half ago, both our dogs, a registered black Labrador Retriever, and our adopted Border Collie Mix were seniors, like us. Our Lab was on pain management, and our Border Collie no longer had her 40-acres to run and dig... All our lives were slowing down... I went on the internet, just like you, to read reviews and try and pick a vet who might be as great as the vet we had out in the country. Well, we scored!! Our vet is Dr. Cassie. When you meet her you may think "my goodness she looks young"... (that's going to work in her favor when she gets older). Who cares how old she is -- she's highly competent, compassionate and thorough. The staff are great too. They get messages to the doctor in a timely manner and were creative with scheduling during our time of need. Our Lab was 13 years old when she needed to be put to sleep last March. Our Border Collie Mix succumbed to cancer of the mouth last Monday. In both cases, Dr. Cassie handled the procedures with great care and compassion, not only to our dogs, but to both of us. She isn't the best and now my cat is sick again and I will have to find another vet to take him to. It cost me over $200 dollars for her to just do an exam and test the fluid!!! Read Less

I've been in here 3 times in the last 9 months, and each time was less than impressed. The first time I went in to get a stray cat scanned for a microchip, but then had to wait an hour in the waiting room for them to contact the humane society for me because no one would give me any info, and in that hour of watching their interactions with clients, decided I would never go back because it felt like they were more about money than the well being of pets or the owners. The second time a rescue group sent me there with a foster kitten and the vet seemed ok and caring but my kitten ended up getting pneumonia two days later and after a visit to the er vet, the only humane option was euthanasia, so I'm not sure if the vet was incompetent or if something else was going on and she just missed it or if it was bad luck. The 3rd and last time was after I rescued a cat off the street and was looking for a forward-thinking vet to help treat this fiv/felv cat. People wanted to make donations so when I called to make an appointment I asked to set up an account. They told me I'd have to print forms online and either fax them or take them in in person. And then in order to get my records from the previous vet who had done testing I'd have to call them myself and have them faxed over, I've never had to do either of those things in the well over 15 different vets I've taken animals to. They've always been able to set up my account over the phone and they've always called my last vet for me and requested the records. That all irritated me because I felt that their policies made me have to work to become a client there, but the final straw was when they refused to give me any kind of quote or even any range on how much a dental would cost on the cat. I've never had that happen either. THe vet has always given me a base costs and then an estimate of how much each tooth pulled would cost and then listed extra things that could increase cost like bloodwork and pain meds, biopsies etc. But they wouldn't give me anything. I refuse to pay $55 to get a quote on a dental just to find out they will charge me $600 just for a regular dental that would cost me half anywhere else. I just felt very disappointed in their policies and the way you have to work and spend money just to get in the door at their clinic. Their vets are not worth it with all the other choices out there in Reno. Sure enough the next vet I called that was recommended gave me quotes and set up my account over the phone and took donations. I will never return to this clinic. Very poor customer service. Had to take my little female cat to Kings Row Pet Hospital today. She's a stray that wandered up a year ago for food. Someone had dumped her and she was a pitiful sight. She is a tiny cat anyway but, she was skinny and malnourished. So sad. We feed the feral cats in the neighborhood because most of them are dumped by irresponsible people who don't understand they can't feed themselves.Anyway, our Allie Cat came up pregnant this past spring and had a litter of two kittens. Since she wouldn't leave them I figured it would be a good time to make friends with her. I parked my garden stool close to where she had her two little kittens and would sit there for 30 minutes at a time and visit with her. After about a week, she let me start handling the kittens. Then one day she came out of the little box, got up on the wooden box and asked me to touch noses with her. We were friends from then on. We found a home for one of the kittens and decided to keep the other one with Allie so she would have company. We had Allie spayed and her son neutered and they lived in the side yard all summer. Come fall, when it got cold, they moved in to the garage. Well, a few weeks ago I opened the inside garage door to let them out the big door and Allie walked right in to the house! Of course her son followed. Seems they live with us now, shall I say we live in their house! :-) A couple of weeks ago Allie started to not feel well. She quit playing and laid around most of the day. Last Friday she was throwing up blood, Saturday not as much blood but, still wouldn't eat. Sunday, no throwing up but, she had lost weight. I called Friday and made an appointment with Kings Row Pet Hospital and today had the privilege of meeting one of the BEST cat vets I think I've ever met. Dr. Kris fully understood that my Allie is still a little skittish and feral and she handled her the best way I've ever seen a vet handle her! We're still working on Allie's issues. She has some intestinal problems but, I'm certain Dr. Kris will get to the bottom of it. She is one of the most thorough vets I've ever met! Read Less

We've been coming to Dr. Ditsworth for probably 20 years now, and have never had a bad experience there. From regular check ups, to ear infections, shots and even incredibly compassionate euthanasia, this office has seen our family through a multitude of ups and downs when it comes to our pets. The office is clean and cheery, and the office staff are accommodating and friendly, even when you have to get fit in for last minute appointments. Dr. Ditsworth himself is an absolute gem, and while that phrase may seem clichéd, it's the complete truth. You can tell he truly loves animals and his profession. Pet Hospital was only interested in taking x-rays and doctor examination for the money and clearly not interested in the health of my cat. This was the most horrible experience I've had not only did they rip me off with a bill, they knowingly caused undue pain and suffering to my cat. I called and explained my cat had a pertruding object in his chest could I bring him in. The staff said bring him in, they did not explain because it was Saturday they were closing at 1:00 We left him there, about an hour and a half later they called and said they wanted to do x-rays and a receptionist explained cats normally look good with the impaled object until they take it out that's when they run into complications and it might cost $3,000.00 dollars. I let them run x-rays feeling uncomfortable about the conversation about complications and $3,000.00 dollars so I called back, I talked to Dr Wilson and she said they might be able to squeeze Papi in, (What is that supposed to mean) Maybe they should squeeze their animal in but I would like a yes we can take care of this or no we close at 1:00 p.m. and today and are not open tomarrow to monitor him after surgery and an impaled object might need more care then we could give by 1:00p.m. They were very swishy washy as they ripped me off for $250.00 That’s when the issue came up about the x rays were ok but they were closing and would like to refer me out to another clinic. I was mad and talked to Dr Wilson and she said she was sorry I felt that way, as she was not excepting any responsibility for her standard operating procedure of x-rays and doctor exam before they refer you out full well knowing they were going to refer Papi out no matter what the results were so they could make a buck. Why would I want to pay two clinics when they knew they were going to refer me out even with a good diagnosis? Not very thoughtful to a kitty with an impiled object to be handdled twice as much and take an extra car ride with an impailed object in his chest. I will never take my loved ones back to this uncompassionate place. The fact that this clinic, took my cat into their care and took expensive x-rays without any thought of rendering any other care to my seriously injured cat proves that the clinic was not interested in saving this animals life but only in charging me exorbitantly high fees for x-rays without treatment.

Read Less

We had to wait a little past our appointment time (about 20 mins), BUT once we were called back to meet with Dr. D we totally understood why we had to wait and it was TOTALLY WORTH IT.Dr. D was very approachable and thoroughly explained everything he was going to do and why he did it. He even received all our questions and was encouraging. We probably spent a solid 15 minutes or more with the doctor, which is normally not the case at most medical places. Clean facility, staff seemed very busy, but still made time to talk to me, ask me questions and try to offer my dog a treat. This is my furry family's new vet office! Read Less

Read Less

He greeted us as soon as he came in the room but the first thing he did was get on the floor and greet Buttercup and gave her the love and care I would want her to get from anyone that is responsible for her wellbeing. Kings Row Pet Hospital exceeded our expectations as a vet clinic for our "girls". For canine care, there is no better out there. Read Less

When she called the following day to let me know that the fluid wasn't cancer she wasn't willing to answer any other questions. Read Less
