We had a 1 PM appointment. Didn't get in until 1:30. And this place charges $15 without appointment. Dr. was cold methodical and with two dogs I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Then information on the bill was wrong and got charged $15 for no appointment. Plus my male dog was put into the licence as a female. Office staff not very well trained. I paid for a visit to be told what I already knew and the treatment for my furbaby is $300.00 over the rate I've paid for twice with my vet back home. I'm keenly aware of vets that charge the big bucks. I'm waiting til my Vet insurance goes in effect and I'm back home. Read Less

I woke up on a Saturday morning only to discover that my precious little 🍪 (my hamster) was extremely I'll. She was so sick, she could barely stand. I checked all over town looking for a vet or pet hospital that would take her, to no avail. I finally reached this one vet office who referred me to Klaich Animal Hospital. I gave them a ring, and sure enough : they were more than happy to take my little hammy. Unfortunately, it didn't end very well, my little fur baby was to sick to keep going. They recommended putting her down to prevent any further suffering. There wasn't much they could do to help her love, but they surely put an end to her suffering. The staff were extremely kind, caring, and understanding. They made sure cookie was comfortable during her passing. The price was very reasonable. Thank you Klaich for all of your help! I believe something shady happened with the death of my healthy dog. He was going in for surgery on his knee. They called me two hours after they were supposed to, told me my dog was doing great then they called me 10 mins later and told me he died and they had no idea why and then told me to come and pick up his body. I told them I was thinking of cremation but I’d call with plans. When I called later the next day to have his body moved they said he was already cremated. I NEVER SIGNED ANY PAPERS. I never signed a consent form or a cremation consent form. The ONLY REASON I’m not suing is because they never charged me for his 6k surgery. I’m heart broken because I truly trusted that they would be professional especially since they were so highly recommended. Read Less

I have been taking all of my animals here for almost 11 years. I had 4 dogs that were litter mates, sadly I have had to put down 2 so far and an entire litter of kittens (over time, bad previous owner) and this office has always been wonderful. I have pitties. One was diabetic and Doctor Rob would get down on the ground with her every single time he took her blood to check her blood sugar and she would just kiss him the whole time. He made sure he was the one to be there to put her down as well. Dr. Klaich took care of my Lucy. She had terminal cancer and he was more then willing to provide comfort care for her until she passed. The day I had to put her down the tech was amazing, they allowed it to happen outside as Lucy hated the vet (nothing bad ever happened to her there, she was kinda special :)) the Vet was kind and made sure I was ready, they made her comfortable and it was quick. The tech provided hugs and comfort after. They are also great when it’s just normal visits as well. Usually easy to get a call back from a vet. Ruby in the front office is hands down the most amazing human on the planet. She is knowledgeable, kind, will go above and beyond to help you in any way she can. She has been a lifesaver to me. Thankfully they are open on the weekends and are absolutely awesome! We just moved here and our puppy had a BM issue that needed to be addressed. The staff here are very polite and saw us sooner than we had expected. She is doing great and we are very happy! Read Less

I have taken my dog here for the past 4 years. It is rare to find a veterinary office full of happy, helpful, kind, and caring staff with great customer service. Klaich Animal Hospital is definitely all of these things. One of my favorite features of this office is the walk-in availability. Whenever I have arrived first thing in the morning they are always able to see me in 15 minutes or less. Klaich is my regular vet for my dog and they've been great for the last 3 years. Every doctor I've seen has been nice and very helpful, and it's easy to get an appointment. Today I had to take my dog in even though I did not have an appointment and we were seen within 30 minutes. I always recommend Klaich to my friends who have animals! Read Less

I took my weiner dog in for his vaccinations.  I didn't have an appt. (small extra fee) and I was able to get him in super quickly.  The vet was so nice and even pulled a little foxtail out that was half stuck into his paw.  My little dog had a reaction following the vaccinations.  He broke out in hives.  Klaich instructed me to bring him right back.  They took him immediately, took care of his hives and provided me with medication all at no extra charge.That is my first time being at Klaich and will definitely go back.  It was an awesome experience.  They really care about our furry children lol Read Less

We have been taking our furbabies to this vet clinic for about 26 years.  I think we have seen every dr that has ever worked there.  I wouldn't take my babies anywhere else.  We have never had a bad experience with anyone in the office, front desk, vet techs, or vets.  Even when we had to put down one of our cats we were treated with dignity and compassion.  They all seem to love their jobs and our furbabies.  Thanks guys for being there for us when we needed you!!! I initially was very pleased with my visit to this place of business.  However, after seeing a vet closer to my home I realized that the doctors/staff at this place were not forthright.  We purchased a puppy from a pet store.  Maybe we were too trusting, but we thought the puppy store was on the up and up.  We were provided with vaccination records.  I took our new puppy in within three days of purchase to this "approved vet".  I was told the puppy was fine.  HOWEVER, when I took him to the vet closer to me today, he went over the records I was provided line by line, explaining to me how the vaccinations that show could never have taken place (e.g. my puppy was supposedly de-wormed 14 times in 6 weeks).  The vet commented to me today, that if that was the case, the pet store should have been shut down.  Shame on the doctor I saw here that nothing of this was mentioned.  I find that inexcusable. And get you out  it's a shame five years ago it was a really great place to take your animal I'm only giving him one star cuz they've helped me out in the past. I have given them plenty of business they have worked on my two dogs Oddie and Copper. I had to go back in the past to have them rework surgery which was an issue I didn't mind paying double but every time it seems like lately I call every time I get the phone the secretary being placed on hold I don't feel like I'm getting for myself. I called today and tried to make an appointment I was second-guessing myself once again I was placed on hold right off the get-go. She asked me what the problem with my animal was so I stated that he had mucus coming from his nose is rear end is bleeding and he's chewing himself. She kindly said our next appointment isn't until Monday feel free to walk in if you would like. Since the conversation that I had with her around 1 p.m. today I have decided no longer to take my dogs to this establishment. I feel they no longer care about their customers it's more about how fast they can get them in and get them out. I brought my cat here as an emergency appointment and couldn't have been more satisfied! Ruby was amazing at the front desk and the veterinarian I saw was very thorough and helpful. I was sent home with meds for my kitty and encouraged to call with any questions. I called back the next day and was still concerned so I brought him back in immediately, they saw me right away, performed an ultrasound, let me know he was looking great and then didn't charge me for the follow up!!! Not only was I not charged, they thanked me for coming back when I was worried. I would recommend all to go here for pet care, especially in an emergency. We have been taking our dog there for over a year and It was only positive experience. Once we had to take Trooper there because he cut his paw, and the doctor took him in right away, without an appointment, and no extra charge. They even gave us an extra bandage materials & kept the pup the whole day while we were at work. I like that place. Update on 9/27 We took our cat there and the cat got correct diagnosis within a day. Doctor Catterson took time to go over the treatment plan and answered all the questions. Very courteous and knowledgeable Front Staff. Dr. Rob and Dr. Nichols are fantastic! Couldn't be happier! Dr. Rob and Heather taught me to tube feed a day old litter of 9 Newfoundland's. I followed they're instructions, and didn't lose one precious puppy. Dr Rob would call and check in during that interim to see how we all were doing. We have an otherwise healthy 12 1/2 yr old Pug with a cyst that began to grow on her chest and who needed major dental work. She just had surgery a few days ago to remove the cyst, clean her teeth and had 9 removed... But everything looks great! She is recovering well and eating without skipping a beat. They were kind, patient and explained everything in detail and their staff is always so helpful... With the best vet prices I've seen anywhere! This a group of vets and tech's who are truly dedicated to caring for our family members in the community that have fur! ...and they're really good at it! I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else!! Really disappointed in how things were handled. Brought our dog there that was 8 years old to get a tumor removed surgery went great or so we were told. They stapled them up, send him home seemed like he was doing OK for a couple days and then started to take a turn for the worse. We brought him down there four times after the surgery wondering why he was acting so lethargic. Told us to take them off the pain medication we did that. Finally nothing was working and we took him back down there and they said he had internal bleeding they said that it was not from the surgery and that there was another tumor that had caused the internal bleeding. Could not show us pictures of it or answer the question how they knew that it was another tumor. When they finally did x-rays and bloodwork it was too late he had lost so much blood internally that if they had attempted to do surgery it would've killed him. We had no choice but to put him down with no questions answered. My gut is telling me that it was from their surgery that they did that caused the bleeding. They said that it wasn't, I'm not a doctor it's just a really large coincidence for that to happen. I will never take my animals there again. they turn and burn the animals there and is all about the money for them. Read Less

I brought my new puppy in for all of her shots and even after the first visit i knew that everyone there really cared for all the animals that walked through the doors. And even when i brought her in to get her legs checked out they were so kind and patient with me and my baby girl.Read Less

Dr. Kern always takes time to really figure out what goes on with our little dog . She has many health issues, so we are often at Klaich. If you walk in, expect a wait as this is a popular spot for pets. I always feel very reassured after leaving. Read Less

A huge thank you to Klaich Animal Hospital and Dr. Alicia Bourgeois for being able to cure our puppies horrible UTI. After three trips to a local vet and over a month of antibiotics we decided to go with recommendations and travel 1.5 hours to Klaich and couldn't be happier! Thank you for taking the time to culture the bacteria and address the problem. He has now been off the antibiotics for a week and is doing great!! When I first met Dr Nichols I could tell she had a genuine love for animals! I brought my puppy in after an unfortunate accident. Sadly We didn't think she would make it. We first came here a few years ago when my fiance's elderly cat was having problems with his ears. I was a walk-in and Dr. Musick took excellent care of Ray.He has been our cat vet ever since. Dr. Musick tells you honestly what your treatment options are and how he thinks you should proceed without trying to sell you stuff you don't need. One of the best vets I have ever been to in a lifetime of owning pets!They are always busy, which says something about how good they are. The prices they charge are fair and the whole staff is great. Late on our Bordetella vaccine for my rescue Taz, drove around town looking for a walk in vet last minute, found Klaich. They were so welcoming and my boy, who is usually pretty hesitant around new people (especially men) was as relaxed as could be and seemed to know right away the Dr. Musick was a good guy. When our Standard Poodle (Marcello) became ill, we took him to see Dr. Musik at Klaich Animal Hospital.  He ended up having to be put to sleep two weeks ago.  Of course there is MUCH more to this story and the odyssey we went through prior to that final, painful decision, but we could not have been more satisfied with the services that Klaich provided, the compassion and professionalism of Dr. Musik, and finally - the monetary price we paid.  The final cost was $345.00, which included the office visit with Dr. Musik, the actual consultation, and finally the euthanasia.  We chose the private cremation.  A week later we picked our beloved Marcello up in a beautiful, hand-carved wooden box.  This has been a devastating experience - more painful and difficult that I could have imagined, but I'm so thankful that we went to Klaich.  Their demeanor, professionalism, and compassion really helped us survive this ordeal.  Yesterday I received a card from the hospital and staff.  It was incredible.  The card was beautiful, and the message inside was hand-written.  They also included a story about the "Rainbow Bridge" that you cannot read without crying - even if you hadn't just lost your best friend.Thank you Klaich.  Blessings to you and your staff. Have you ever had the misfortune to need an emergency vet hospital?  If so, I am so sorry.  It's scary when your family member is hurt and you are at the mercy of whoever is available.   Once they're stable and you get the bill, part 2 of the misfortune sets in :(. Today we had an incident with our little 14 year old chihuahua.  I was extra worried because we did not yet have a regular vet in Reno (we go to Dr Lowell, the holistic vet in South Reno for proactive, preventative treatments like Accupuncture, chiropractic & ozone - they are great!)But trauma calls for no appointment - all hours, a fast thinking, skilled vet and all the wonders modern medicine has to offer, immediately!  Upon a recommendation (& the wonderful proximity to my home & work), we went to Klaich. As soon as I walked through the door and explained my situation, we were whisked into a room with a vet tech.  She examined him and said the doctor would be right with me.  And he was, in about 10 minutes.  He took control of the situation, made quick decisions and left me feeling as good as I possibly could in that moment.  They sent me back to work (and to continue catastrophizing in my head) while they did chest and head xrays, blood work, anesthesia, pain meds and antibiotics (and a complimentary nail trim!).  That was all completed at the time he told me it would be and (good news!) the outcome was better than what I had dreamt up in my head. Having been through this before, I braced myself for the bill and had a # in my head ($1200).$500!  Not cheap of course but not what I was expecting to pay for all of that. Sadly I have had to euthanize two of my dogs there in two years. My last one was 15 years old and ironically I put him down just last Saturday May 7th. This animal hospital is so accommodating, tender and so caring. They love what they do. They are fast knowledgeable and the office is very well run. I would never go anywhere else. Love this place!! I'm so mad right now, I probably shouldn't write this review, but I was just treated very poorly by this Veterinarian group. I have been a customer for years. I have been more than happy with them, until now. I live in Fallon and have to drive approximately 50 miles to get to them. I also have 7 dogs that I have taken to them. Today one of my dogs had an emergency. I called to make an appointment. The receptionist informed me that I could be a walk in, but I would be charged and extra $15 if I brought the dog in!!! The money isn't really an issue, but last week one of my dogs had to have an operation. We took him to Klaich and we spent $400!! Now they want to charge me a $15 fee for bringing an emergency animal into the office?? I will never bring my animals to this animal hospital again. Read Less

About a week ago, I noticed that my Chocolate Lab had mysterious worms in her stools. I sent photos of them to my friend who is a vet tech. She couldn't identify them. The Heartgard wormer didn't kill them. So  I took the sample to a vet hospital in Northwest Reno and the test came back negative. I went in to that vet and showed them photos and video of the worm infestation. They said that they weren't worms and wanted me to bring in my dog for an exam.  Since photos don't lie, I didn't want to spend more money with this particular vet hospital. So the next day I brought my dog to Klaich. Dr. Catterson examined my dog, looked at the stool sample, the video and prescribed a one dose wormer. She said she hadn't seen that worm before but since I hike a lot with my dog, she felt the one dose wormer might do the trick. Next day - my dog's stool was worm free!  Dr. Catterson was great - she didn't rush me and spent adequate time with my dog to diagnose her. This was my third trip to Klaich over a 2 year period and I have always been happy with them. I'll never go to that other vet hospital in Northwest Reno again, even though they are much closer to my house!On a different visit to Klaich a few months ago, my Mom and I took Mom's 14 year old mini dachshund in because we thought she had a tooth abscess. The vet examined the dog and discovered that it was just some food in there that made her cheek stick out. When the chunk of food popped out Mom and I screamed - and then laughed. The vet (can't remember her name) didn't even charge us for the exam. Maybe because we were all laughing too much!  About a year ago I had to bring my Lab in to get her stiched up as another dog bit her. She needed several stitches in her shoulder. The wound healed perfectly and the bill for the procedure, including meds, was reasonable (I think it was about $260).  Dr. Likes did the procedure and I thought he was great.  Three years before this incident, my Lab was attacked by my friend's Dalmation and my dog needed stitches in her loin. That vet bill was $520 for an almost identical number of stitches and the same meds. Of course that was in Carmel Valley and this is Reno.  Anyway, I have been happy with Klaich. Their prices seem fair and my dog has received excellent care there! Read Less

I have been here a handful of times when in the area and they have never let me down! I love their walk-in policy when I have an emergency and need to see a vet right away. Yes, there is a $15 walk-in fee but that's nothing compared to what it would cost at the animal emergency center! Being from Connecticut (where I'm originally from) vet services at Klaich are half the cost of what I would pay in my hometown. I have seen a few different doctors and they have all been great! They get you in and out of there pretty quickly but are also patient and very helpful with any questions you might have. There was a growth on my dog that I wanted to have checked out and the doctor I saw didn't even charge me! I'm honestly surprised at some of these bad reviews. I've never had any problems coming to Klaich. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences and the girls up front are always helpful! This is a VERY busy animal clinic but they do a good about keeping facility well maintained and clean.Read Less

We have been going to klaich for 5+ years.  Our pets are a big part of our lives and a good vet is important to us.  Dr. Musick has been a great vet for us.  He started as a vet tech, then went back to school to become a veterinarian and his passion shows.  He has always been kind, straightforward and professional.  I like Klaich because it's casual and has open hours 7 days a week so it really reduces the chance of having to pay $$$$$ for emergency vet visits at the emergency hospital.  They have multiple vets working at all times.  For 1 off problems (torn nail, foxtail in ear, etc) I just show up and wait for the doc I want (i call ahead and make sure he is working that day)...it's  $15 extra dollars for walk in service but the issue gets addressed versus having to make an appt.I am a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews.  Vets cost real money; it costs real money to maintain pets; and receiving bad news about your pet or having to put it down is extremely difficult and emotional.  I would encourage folks to reflect on that when reading the reviews.Previously I went to "single vet" offices, and i have paid for the services.  Klaich has been less expensive for us and gets the job done.  You won't wait in a glossy waiting room where you are told how beautiful your pet is and free water/coffee offered, BUT you will get your pet in and out, at a reasonable price.Thank you Dr. Musick for all you have done for us. Although the individuals that work here are now a lot nicer than in the past I had the following experience which I would like to share.  Anytime there doing treatment on your animal be sure and ask the Dr('s) at Klaich how much it is before the procedures.  Although the Doctor was able to diagnose my animals ailment within the first few minutes (asthma) they wanted to do an Xray to check I figured how much could it cost 50ish? They didn't do just one they did two for a total of 130.00 no wonder individuals cant afford a vet anymore and have to watch their poor animals suffer.    Total for this 30 minute visit was 201.00.     Hope those profitable Xrays make their Christmas Merrier and Bright. We took our 15lb terrier here after she got a cut on her ear and was bleeding everywhere. Since we were walk ins, we had to wait almost an hour to be seen. We saw the young lady vet who said it should be wrapped for a few days to let it heal and avoid reopening the wound. Cool, I agree, we wanted to avoid stiches or glue. She came out with that self-stick althetic bandage around her head holding down the cut ear. The big issue is that they took absolutely zero care in the wrapping of her ear. Taking the wraps off 2 days later, I found that all of the tape was attached directly to her hair, no gauze. So while I was taking it off I had to cut away 1-2" of hair so it wouldn't rip out her hair during removal. They didn't clean away any of the blood prior to wrapping her, so the dried blood was making the bandage adhere even more. They had even folded her ear up out the way; however because of how the bandage stuck to her hair we had to cut dangerously close to her ear without really knowing where it was/ended. This was a $90 visit. 5 minutes with the vet, antibiotics, and a crap wrap job. All in all, the long wait time for a walk in and the absolute disregard for the long-term care will prevent us from ever bringjng an animal back here again. Read Less

I have been taking my pets to Klaich off and on since the sixtys .Really don`t know why I use other vets, maybe because they are closer to my home . So just the other day my little doxie hurt her leg and that is where I took her. As always before I was very happy with them. Dr. Likes is absolutely a great veterinarian . I've owned dogs for 70 years. All were of the Heinz 57 variety . I have therefore seen many Veterinarians Not one has even come close to being as Carrying , Efficient or reasonable as the Klaich Animal Hospital . I was referred to this office by an owner of dogs, cats , and horses who had first been there for a very sick cat on a Sunday. This office took care of the needs of the cat , on a Sunday without an appointment and did it with great care and efficiency . Absolutely the best vets I've ever been to~ Dr. Cocanour diagnosed our 8 year old black lab with bone cancer when she had been misdiagnosed two weeks earlier by another vet. We were heartbroken but he gave us the the options we had and we decided to give her the best months of her life in the time remaining. After several months, she began to weaken and it became time to have her put down. Dr. Cocanour came to our house to put her down to alleviate any undue stress on her part, showing more compassion and sorrow than any vet I have ever dealt with. We have several animals that have all been patients of Klaich Animal Hospital and any charges for their care have been much more reasonable than any other vet in the Reno area (including vaccinations which were grossly overcharged at a vet in Washoe Valley...four times more than Klaich charges). Our 8 year old Queensland Healer is undergoing emergency surgery at Klaich Animal Hospital as I write this, and they made us wait 5 minutes, then immediately gave us an estimate that was half what I was expecting and rushed him into surgery. And no, we weren't asked for payment before the procedure...they want to save our dog, not make sure they receive payment while the animal is in pain and in need of medical attention. I took my 8 month old Lab puppy here for an emergent ear infection on Labor Day, when her regular vet was closed. I will never make this mistake again. The entire staff was very rushed, did not ask me any details on my dog other than her name (even though she had never been there before), and did not have me sign any consent forms, other than a single-sentence agreement to pay for authorized services. The wait was long, which I didn't mind since I didn't have an appointment, but when the doctor (Bill Smith) took her back for her appointment, she was callously dragged up on the exam table, and the doctor never even looked at her. He had already made up his mind what was wrong with her before coming into the room. He quickly and not very clearly stated she had an ear infection, they would have to put her under and clean it, I could pick her up at 2:00. I was in shock. I agreed to leave her there, as I was under the impression this was an emergent situation, and he demanded I leave without saying goodbye so she would be ""easier to deal with."" I watched from the door while they dragged my poor puppy (literally, dragged) down the hall by a rope around her neck. I was horrified. I called back to demand they explain to me what was going on, and they informed me they were already done with her, I could pick her up any time. The doctor had told me in the exam room he would charge me $95. They tried charging me almost $200, which I refused, partly because this is not what I had been told, and partly because they put two stitches in her tail without even calling me to explain to me what happened. They never did explain how she got a laceration on her tail, but they tried to charge me for the stitches. I explained to the doctor that she was not just an animal, but a member of the family, and that his behavior was completely unacceptable. He simply said, ""You asked us to do a job, and we did it,"" then walked out of the room. I am still completely shocked and apalled at how both my dog and I were treated. When they brought her out, she was covered in urine, feces, and drool. She was also shaking uncontrollably, and whining, which has never happened when I got her back from her regular vet. My dog has an absessed tooth that went from a little puffiness to literally bleeding out of his skin overnight. I don't have a local vet and asked around and posted on craigslist and immediately had two people strongly suggest Klaich because of the compassion and treatment they received. All of the doctors at Klaich are very special, we tried different offices when we moved into town in 2001 and have had the best experience everytime with Klaich. After a terrible experience at Community Animal Hospital we took our dog, who needed immediate attention, to Klaich. They were responsive to his condition and were able to take care of him right away. Not only did they give him the best care, their prices were more than reasonable. The second time we took our dog in he had slipped a disc in his spine and needed immediate surgery. They explained to us his condition, why it happened, and why he needed surgery. They let us go on a payment plan and kept us updated as to his condition twice a day. They also let us come see our dog several times a day, sometimes up to an hour and a half, during his recovery, and gave us our own private room to be with him. I'm not sure how these other negative reviews could be accurate since over the past year we have not had any bad experiences at Klaich Animal Hospital. Friday night 4/24/2009 we came home to find out littlest dog collapsed, running a dangerously high fever and incoherent. After a call to our normal vet who was of course closed we spoke to another vet who said our dog probably won?t last the night just make him comfortable. So the next morning when he was still with us we began calling around and found Klaich was open on Saturday.. Without even calling to see if they would see us..we headed into Reno which was a 45 minute drive on the chance they would see us. They were friendly and kind and immediately took us back. They went over him and were extremely worried and told us he needed to be admitted into the animal hospital. When we asked how much it would cost they told us and we were fine with that.. as most vets do we fully expected to be lead to the cashier before they would start treatment and they DID NOT!!! I was shocked most vets in Reno won't even give your dog a pain shot until you show them the money.. no not Klaich it was more important to heal our dog than get our money...They took very good care of our pup and they kept us informed on everything they did. Now there was one thing that bothered but when you go to a good vet who has a very busy practice there are things you expect.. slow response to phone calls but on the upside of this.. the Vets called us back not some tech relaying information? I personally prefer this, because my questions were answered not ""let me check on that and call you back"" so this made up for the slow return of my calls. Our dog is here today because of the outstanding care he received, he goes back in today for a recheck and guess what ? we still haven?t been given a final bill.. we expect that today of course but.. Again I felt as if our dogs health was more important to them?. I will be taking all 4 of our dogs to Dr. Klaich and the other vets for now on? you can never get any information quickly, always takes hours, the wait time is horrible, took me over an hour to even get seen. took me a half an hour for them to give me my dog back when he was already done. I've had to go there several times, but two notible times with my dog. The first time she was poisoned and very very ill, not only was the staff incredibly kind but they didn't rip me off financially. They saved her then. The second time was today in fact, i brought her in because she had her first seizure and was diagnosed with epilepsy, they took wonderful care of her, they saw me without an appointment in a timely manner as well as returning my calls and being very communicative during the whole situation. All in all, i have a true appreciation now for both the staff, as well as the facilities offered there. Not to mention they're open on Saturdays, and later then usual on the week days. Read Less

This animal hospital looks the other way when a stolen pet comes into there office. They told me a pet of mine came into the office the rabies tag was listed under my name they allowed the person who aquired the dog to change the name on the account to his. I was denied more info relating to my stolen dog but they told me a dog with a rabies tag listed under my name came into the office and I was told. We had to take our 17 year old Himalayan cat to the hospital because it was time to do the right thing for her. Our regular veterinary hospital was closed but we found that Klaich Animal Hospital was open on Saturday. We called ahead and were told we would have to wait as there were a lot of customers. Our poor little Cassie was having terrible seizures and when we got to the hospital, she started having another seizure. We were taken in immediately and the veterinarian came in to the room within a few minutes. The assistants were so kind and caring as was the doctor. I'm sorry to say we were so distraught we didn't get names. We were so grateful for the kindness we received from them, which made our difficult decision easier to bear. It was the kindest thing for us to do, but we had recently lost our 2 Pekingese dogs of 13 years, so within 2 months, we lost 3 of our precious family members. The treatment we received at Klaich's hospital was extremely thoughtful and again - made such a difficult time, a little better. Thanks to all of them. We have 4 dogs and have been using Klaich for 10 years. Yes, they are a busy clinic, but because of their reputation and following. They now see primarily by appointment, which is helping the wait time. They are very thorough with their exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans. We have seen different docs there and no matter who we see, we do not feel rushed. On each and every visit, the docs explain the reasons why they are diagnosing a specific condition, give details about the condition and possible treatment plans, and work with us to determine the most appropriate care possible. We have left our oldest, an 11-year old chihuahua, there for critical care; and she received optimal care. The pricing structure is very within any budget. Risky? Absolutely not. Highly recommended. I would say Klaich is a good place to bring your animals, I will admit they are rushed they have some many people come in and out and they need to work quickly. I brought my dog in a week ago and she was sick and we did have to wait a hour and a half, but once we got in the vet let us talk and let him know what was going on, and he wanted to keep her and run some tests. It turns out she had parvo. It was the best thing to leave her there and have them nurse her back to health and that is what they did, they kept her on a IV and kept a close eye on her and she lived this deadly virus. It was a little hard to call and get to talk to the vet, but we decided that just going in and visiting my dog was the best thing, and we were able to visit her and while we were in the parvo ward the vet that took over case came right in talked with us and she was a wonderful and answered any questions we had, overall we will keep bringing our animals to klaich. My advise is don't let yourself be rushed ask questions that need to be asked and get some answers. The vet will answer any questions to the best of there knowledge. If you are walk-in you have to be patient the appoinment will go before you and walk-ins are first come first serve. I do believe that they are going to appoinment only now so your wait should be over. But overall this place is great and very well priced. My dog was in the 6 days and 5 night with IV and anitbotics everyday and it was only 694.00 with great care. Read Less

Part of the problem here is that it very much depends on who you see, which is just random-whoever is up on that day. Some of the doctors are much better than others. But I have had two different experiences where the vet missed an important (life threatening) diagnosis after a very rushed exam. Klaich has a number of fine qualities. They are the premier provider of TPLO knee surgery for dogs. They provide special care to animals from shelters. Their services are reasonably priced, and they don't try to cram all kinds of luxury services, luxury foods and luxury care down your throat. My Chow dog would go nowhere else. He was treated with extra dignity for his age. When they put him down -- on a Sunday, no extra charge -- the staff sent a card. My Jack Russell had TPLO surgery on one leg, and the follow up care was excellent. I am doing the other leg soon. Some of the other reviewers are unhappy because Klaich doesn't hold organic yoga classes for ferrets and stuff, but they can always take their pets to a vet in Beverly Hills. I can't. This is a walk-in clinic; you don't get appointments. My other vet in Reno required appointments. Klaich opens at 7:30, and yes, you do need to leave your dog sometimes, but they provide good care. Klaitch was reccommended to me as a good place to take my cat. I am new to Reno and needed to have my cat looked at so I gave it a try. This place is a factory. I waited about 45 minutes, which is not a problem, but I like the idea of having an appointment with a set amount of time the Vet may spend with my animal. This factory set up leaves the Vet no time to spend with your pet. My visit was very rushed. The table was not disinfected before my cat (with a wound on his arm) was put on the table. There was dog hair remaining from the previous visitor. Perhaps I'm picky but I'm used to a clean table and a Vet who has a few minutes to talk with me about my pet. The Vet did not close the door! He was planning on being that quick that he didn't see fit to close the examining room door! I politely closed the door. The Vet was clearly a nice guy, probably a great Veterinarian but obviously rushed and had no time to create an appropriate atmosphere in the exam room. He brusquely took my cat by the scruff out of his carrying case and handled him roughly. This is the first time my cat has ever hissed at a Vet. Usually the Vet will give some consoling or gentle-toned words to put the pet at ease but there was no Vet/animal interaction. He spoke to me, but never addressed my cat or displayed any sort of connection with the cat. When we left the examining room, we walked to the front desk, the Vet gave the receptionist the amount to charge me and he walked away. I thanked him and said goodbye but he was on to the next. My visit was rushed, cold, impersonal and unprofessional. I recommend this facility for pet owners who do not believe that animals have any psychology; otherwise, I do not recommend it at all. I went here when it was somewhat busy. I just wanted to get a yearly exam for my dog, but had to wait for a long time alone in the room only to have the exam be completely rushed. I tried to find out about suggestions for making meals for my dog myself in terms of proportions of meat to vegetables and grains and was told to look online. The vet didn't even notice during this exam that my dog has a a joint problem. His knee pops out of joint and may need surgery later. The vet also did not notice that one of the dog's dewclaws grew into almost a full circle and needed to be cut (the dog won't let me cut them). I brought my sister's dog in at the same time and I had to point it out to the vet that the dog had a bald spot on its neck that was really concerning everyone. Every time I tried to ask a question about the dog's health issues they would give a really short answer and try to get me out of there. I called another time to find out how much onion it takes to be toxic to a dog because my sister's dog ate a handful. The vet had no idea and said to see if the dog throws up, but the real danger of onions is anemia. Overall, I was really unhappy. The cost of the exam was only $60 for two dogs, but anyone could quickly looked at the dog and said it was healthy if they didn't check the basics like teeth, nails, hair, or joints. Read Less

I have been a RVT for 20 yrs. The doctor would not perform a simple needle aspirate of a lump on my dog in my presence. He wanted me to drop her off for two hours when it only takes less than a minute to do. I am new in Reno and Klaich had been Recommended by several people. People of Reno must be ignorant to the good standards of care their pets can receive elsewhere. Would they drop their children off? I must also add the doctor did not even give my dog a proper exam.
