I didn't care for this place, but for what we needed in the moment and the fact that they did squeeze us in at the last minute for Autumn was nice. Our pup suffers from tremendously bad car sickness, so one day when we were on our way out of town to head over the hill to Sac, we didn't even make it out of Reno before we were having problems with her. She had accidents, lots of drooling, and persistent whining, among other things, from South to NW Reno that we didn't feel confident leaving without handling first. So we called the first Vet and the lady on the phone was understanding. The front desk staff/vet techs were courteous and kind, but it was Dr. Riar who we did not care for. First they stuck us in a small room with no windows and no ventilation. It was stuffy and I was already flustered from dealing with a very messy and frustrating situation, so I wish we could've been somewhere more comfortable. Anyhow, he entered the room and it startled her. She is not aggressive but she's very vocal. Her barking must've scared him because he 1.) didn't bother introducing himself or seem very welcoming and 2.) already by his actions from her barking probably gave away that he was frightened by her. He proceeds to want to take her pulse and we have to put her in a headlock while he does so. I wouldn't want to be touched either by this dude, but he did what he had to do. Then he wanted to give her the medicine and we had a hard time feeding it to her in a treat with him there. He's the Vet so you'd think he would have some tricks up his sleeve, but he tried force feeding it and holding her jaw shut so she would swallow it. When he let go she barked again and he jumped back, kind of like flailing his arms after every attempt, again showing his fear of her. I think animals sense when a human fears them and it can make them uneasy. So he leaves the room to allow us to try, and what do you know - she eats it as soon as he leaves. Anyway he didn't have the compassion and vaguely answered my questions. I needed clarification on things and I felt like he was just quick to leave the exam room. He hardly interacted and I wondered why he ever become a Vet. People go to them with worries about pets and, and this guy appears like he couldn't care less.We went to go pay and their receipt machine wasn't printing. Both the girls were apologetic and thanked me for my patience, which I had no problem with. It happens. But they had to call him over to try to fix it and he wasn't very apologetic at all and gave me the impression like, again, he had better things to do. They were cheaper than A-Plus Hospital, which is where we would normally take her and continually will. However, I will pay a bit more if it means the Vet has more compassion and understanding in difficult situations. Read Less
