I have been a client of Southwest Veterinary Hospital for over a decade. No words can effectively describe the feeling when I walk through that door with a pet and know EVERYONE at this facility cares! I have experienced the best possible days with new babies born there and the worst possible days of loss there. Regardless the circumstances, my pets and I have always been treated with the utmost respect and attention. In this day and time, the Veterinarians and their staff at Southwest Vet Hospital are a breath of fresh air.

I wholeheartedly recommend this practice to anyone with a beloved pet. Our dog has been a patient since we adopted him more than four years ago. They treat him so kindly and capably, it makes it an easier trip. Dr. Rasmussen is absolutely amazing, using her extensive knowledge and training to back up her deep compassion and affection for animals. We've had a few injuries, and she is superb in surgery and treatment. The waiting room is handled carefully, and pets are placed in treatment rooms quickly when needed. The front staff handles the appointments and calls with great professionalism, making it very easy to book appointments, make changes if needed, and get information to and from the doctors. Communication is very well handled--very thorough. I will be a loyal customer/patient forever!

Fantastic Care and Staff. I selected this practice when we relocated to the area 6/2016 based on online reviews and I am so pleased! The staff is amazing and Dr. R goes above and beyond. She helped us navigate canine lymphoma and was available after hours via email when we were struggling with chemotherapy. Southwest made the end of life process as comfortable as possible for all of us. They are very proactive and knowledgeable...our second dog receives excellent care.

If humans could get the level of care animals get at Southwest Vet, America's health care problems would be over.Dr Gary Sargent cared for my animals for over three decades and in all that time I would never trust anyone else with my animals. Then, an emergency and Dr Sargent (semi retired) wasn't available. Dr Erin Rasmussen stepped in an and saved my dear cat's life in a 'touch and go' situation. I'll be eternally grateful and would never dream of taking my animals elsewhere.

I don't know that I could love this vet anymore than I already do! We usually bring our dog to see Dr. Sargent but have seen Dr. Rasmussen as well and they are always on time, kind and professional. They are always very accommodating and try to get your pet in quickly. The care our dog receives is top notch. Our most recent visit was somewhat unexpected as my dog had a need for a visit with a vet tech to take care of a few quick things. Anyway, unexpectedly, our baby sitter fell through and I had to take our 3 year old, 7 month old and our 80 lb lab. This posed a challenge, as I only have two arms. Well, just as I was about to get my second child out of the car, out comes the wonderful vet tech who offers to take my dog in, I can pay real quick and they will bring her back out to me. Talk about going above and beyond, which is something that is hard to find anymore! We have been so happy with this clinic for the last 7 years and will refer anyone we can think of. They are wonderful.

This is an amazing hospital. The DVM's here truly care about their patients and hold themselves to the highest standard. They are continually looking to further their knowledge with continuing education thus providing the best in quality care. As a licensed veterinary technician and a VTS (veterinary technician specialist) in dentistry I have seen these veterinarians and technicians in action (as a trainer, not employee!). If you want the best care for your beloved pet then I recommend Southwest.

Great place to take two elderly dogs for care on a regular basis. Facility is clean and easy to access on Lakeside and Moana. This hospital is staffed by a consortium of veterinarians and technicians and all of them are professional, prompt, and friendly. Their bedside manner with the animals is, well, better than my own. Their hours are reasonable and they work with a network of other hospitals in the area to operate a 24/7 urgent care center on Del Monte lane. Definitely a hospital to take your dogs to.

So if you have money to burn, do so, there are a couple other good vets in town. This one needs her school loans, and rent paid since they have very few clients.

My dog needed to get her teeth cleaned, they wanted to charge an office visit $49 plus $135 for blood work, plus $700 to $900 to do the cleaning. Mind you, the excuse for the pre-cleaning appointment was to give me an estimate, but they couldn't even do that. I was quoted $120 for the office visit and the cleaning. I guess there is a really good reason they are not busy, because they overcharge everyone.

We looked at a number of vets in Reno and none stood out even after a first visit. A good friend highly recommended Erin and we're glad she did. The first thing that struck us was how friendly and professional the staf were - they are awesome.Erin is young enough to have benefitted from the latest training yet experienced enough to know what to expect with our dogs. She is very professional, personable, and both Roo and Sidney were at ease with her.Our mini wiener needed a number of teeth worked on and we price shopped a number of vets and Erin's estimate was in the lower-middle of what other vets estimated, but more importantly Sidney did well, healed up quick, and what we actually paid was about in the middle of the estimate, which we felt reflected a good value for the work performed.I think it won't be long before Erin has so much repeat business that she won't be able to take on new clients so if she is available we highly recommend her!

Don't get fool by how young she looks. I like her a lot. About a year ago, when I found my second dog online, I also happened found her new hospital online. When I got my new dog, I had to take my dog to her because I know she will take care of my dog very well.

I have been a client of Southwest Veterinary Hospital for over a decade. No words can effectively describe the feeling when I walk through that door with a pet and know EVERYONE at this facility cares! I have experienced the best possible days with new babies born there and the worst possible days of loss there. My dog needed to get her teeth cleaned, they wanted to charge an office visit $49 plus $135 for blood work, plus $700 to $900 to do the cleaning. Mind you, the excuse for the pre-cleaning appointment was to give me an estimate, but they couldn't even do that. I was quoted $120 for the office visit and the cleaning. I guess there is a really good reason they are not busy, because they overcharge everyone.

We looked at a number of vets in Reno and none stood out even after a first visit. A good friend highly recommended Erin and we're glad she did. The first thing that struck us was how friendly and professional the staf were - they are awesome.Erin is young enough to have benefitted from the latest training yet experienced enough to know what to expect with our dogs. She is very professional, personable, and both Roo and Sidney were at ease with her.Our mini wiener needed a number of teeth worked on and we price shopped a number of vets and Erin's estimate was in the lower-middle of what other vets estimated, but more importantly Sidney did well, healed up quick, and what we actually paid was about in the middle of the estimate, which we felt reflected a good value for the work performed.I think it won't be long before Erin has so much repeat business that she won't be able to take on new clients so if she is available we highly recommend her!

Several years ago, she took care of my dog with a serious condition. I was so happy with her, I wrote a card to her. I tell you she is a very personable, good doctor. Don't get fool by how young she looks. I like her a lot. About a year ago, when I found my second dog online, I also happened found her new hospital online. When I got my new dog, I had to take my dog to her because I know she will take care of my dog very well.
