General Info
Dr. Patti McCormack has been working in the Reno-Sparks area since she graduated with honors from the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Many of you know her from her years at A-Plus Animal Hospital in Sparks. Kreature Komforts Animal Hospital was specially designed to fully complement Dr. McCormack's exceptional strengths in the surgery and medical care of small animal, exotic, and pocket pets. We opened June 5, 2006.
Dr. Emily Smith joined KKAH in January 2015. Dr. Smith was born and raised in Colorado and moved to the Reno area after graduating from veterinary school at Colorado State University in 2013. She has been hanging out in veterinary hospitals her whole life as both her father and grandfather are also veterinarians. She received her DVM and a Masters in Epidemiology at Colorado State University. She is also certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture.
KKAH also provides laser surgery and laser therapy.

TLDR: I took my dog in for a standard neuter last week (April 2023) and he received a botched surgery by the vet who happens to be the owner (Dr Patricia McCormick).
One of the technicians bumped my dog's head during intake (something we only found out later) causing him to have a nose bleed and burst blood vessel in his eye - the vet called me before and after surgery updating me that it wasn't getting better and they were concerned it was potentially something fatal like Addison's disease, and therefore they recommended blood work.
I obviously agreed and was asked to call me back when the blood work wrapped up (they said it should take about 40 minutes). An hour and a half later, I called several times before getting through only to find out everyone was on lunch so there was no update (pretty terrifying given the news I was just given to know that no one was looking after my dog for a 2 hour break). His bloodwork came back fine, but we were out hundreds of dollars for labs that were only offered because of what happened behind closed doors after I dropped my dog off.
On top of it all, I was given incorrect advice for care (ie you can take your dog on 1-2 mile walks as early as tomorrow or, he's pretty awake and active and should continue to be that way when you get home -- obviously not the case). They also give you an email in case you have any questions, etc. however they do not respond.
When I provided feedback, I was told that I was just super stressed and emotional. I had no idea, so this was great insight into how I was feeling!
This went as poorly as you'd think -- I'd recommend many other vets before Kreature Komforts especially with such an important day/surgery.

Dr. Patty and her fantastic staff are my go to people for veterinary care for my pets and clients. I have been with KKAH for close to 10 years with my multiple pets and no one in my opinion is better....
Dr. Patty and her fantastic staff are my go to people for veterinary care for my pets and clients. I have been with KKAH for close to 10 years with my multiple pets and no one in my opinion is better. They are accommodating and reasonably priced for those of us who can't afford thousands or even hundreds of dollars worth of vet bills but love our pets. You would be a fool to go anywhere else and have your pet miss out on the love and care KKAH provides.

After I was turned away for basically being a poor man who had very lovable cat that was deathly in pain I've held contempt for the business and will never forgive how you accepted the $50 voucher to help him but, turned him into the horrible chamber of pain. That little buddy of mine suffered and I picture how he tried to push out that pain with his paws and the sound of his suffering haunts me and probably will for my lifetime. Heartless people you are...all of you employed that sad day. I will continue my pleas to pet owners to seek help far from your place and only wish that you rename the name of Kreature Komfort to pet torturer. That's what you did and you know it.

Dr. Patti has treated my animals for years. The newest addition to our family Oliver had a wonderful experience there yesterday. Even though he has to have surgery on his eyes again, Dr. Emily was just as compassionate and wonderful as Dr. Patty. Oliver is afraid of slippery floors so she got down on the ground with Oliver assuring him throughout her examination. Oliver was extremely thankful for all the treats she gave him.

Mr McCormick has no regard for anyone but himself. He tried to run me off the road and almost hit my car ( I had the right of way) when I'm pregnant and had my 2 year old in the car. Then he proceeded to make obscene gestures at me. I will never take my animals to them bc if he's so rude and careless while driving who knows how they are with animals. And as for my family members who have been long time customers I will be recommending to them that they change vets.

We suspect that my dog was abused by his previous owner, which I shared with Dr. Patti, so she is very sensitive to my dogs needs. Their prices are reasonable and affordable. The women who work the front have no clue what they are doing or talking about. When I first went in they said there was a puppy with a worse mange condition then my puppy. Three weeks later on no your puppy is worse off then the puppy I told you about. I talked to the vet doctor and she said the puppy will be done in one week and he's doing awesome. Who the hell do these front desk ladies think they get off ting to people. Then they tell the new owner of my puppy, that he has no shots, and was never dewormed. I ended up having to go to my last vet get the records and give them to the man. And he was pissed because they tried to charge him for shots he already had. Stupid ass vets. Good job. I reported this facility to the head of NV county. Let's say I've pushed the issue and they are getting in trouble.

We brought our red eared slider (turtle) in because she was egg bound. They were so sweet and caring. They could tell how worried I was and definitely put my mind to ease. When the treatments didn't work the first time they even called to check on her. They were sure to call me with any updates as well as being as kind as possible when I called 100 times :-) thank you all for being so amazing, and taking great care of my baby!

This is a great animal hospital, with a great vet and great staff. We have been going there for nearly 2 years and have only good experiences. Staff are caring and do a great job coaxing my often terrified (and also highly stubborn) malamute to do whatever they need her to do. If you need to see the vet last-minute and they haven't got a free appointment, they're always happy to do a 'drop off' where you leave your animal there for a few hours and the vet treats your pet in between other patients. They even do this 'drop off' for a last-minute minor surgery we needed (wart removal) and she was ready to go home in 3 hours. Patti, the vet, is great - always happy to answer your questions, and even crawled down on the floor to treat my dog who was too scared/stubborn to come out from under the treatment table...!
The only down side is they're closed on weekends.
