Pyramid vet was amazing.. they greeted me warmly when I walked in, I got an appointment for my dog the next day, the vet and the staff were all kind and caring, and they even did a follow-up call two weeks later to see how my pup was doing. Wonderful place. Beforehand, I tried another Veterinary place nearby, and they were always overbooked- too busy and for them to see my dog they would have to fit me in between appointments (which meant I waited for an hour and a half once). I have met the most dedicated and caring Veterinarian. Dr. Maker is a breath of fresh air and a bright ray of sunshine. I have had dogs all my life. Don't get me wrong, there are some excellent Veterinarians out there.Never have I met a Veterinarian who puts aside monetary gain and puts a dog's health as the primacy objective.My neighbor referred me to Dr. Maker. She told me that her daughter had taken her dog to several different Veterinary hospitals. Her dog had a rare condition and all the other vets told her the dog's nose would have to be cut out, due to the infection. The cost was about $2000.As a last resort, she took her dog to Dr. Maker. The Doc took a scraping of the infection and did some analysis. There is a lab on site. She identified the bacteria and gave her some medication.I took my little Shihtzu to Dr. Maker. GiGi had an ear infection for a year. The meds that my vet prescribed were not curing the bacterial ear infection. Dr. Maker prescribed me some ear drops. Three days later her ear infection is almost gone!I recommend Dr. Maker. She is great! Read Less

First time here with my Boston Terrior. He had allergies and was having problems with his eyes. We were worked in within 1 day, the waiting area was very clean and comfortable. The doctor was very professional and gave my dog a good look over and prescribed a medication. We were in & out in a reasonable amount of time. Price for the visit was very reasonable as well. 8 year old dog had surgery here. After thousands of dollars spent I was told to take her to a physical theropist. After a few months I had to put the dog down as she was in so much pain. This is our vet and the office is always clean and staff is always friendly. We came here recently without making an appointment. Our dog was having difficulty breathing and had been wheezing. We felt it was an emergency. The office staff were all so kind and understanding. They informed us that they would work us in. Our dog gets anxious. The receptionist could see that our dog was getting more anxious and was causing more difficulty breathing so they put us in a waiting room. When they had time they came in and checked on her. They took her temperature and listened to her heart. The doctor and her assistant asked us questions and tried to put our mind at ease. Our beloved pet is almost 12 years old. Dr. Melissa told us she felt there was an issue with her heart so they would like to do an x-ray. I think the vet assistant's name was Eric who was so very sweet and gentle with our dog. After awhile they came back with our adorable Savanna. They informed us that she has congestive heart failure. Her heart was so enlarged it had caused fluid to enter her lungs and it was restricting her breathing. Dr. Melissa gave us some medicine to help our dog breathe easier. We were asked to come back in two weeks. My daughter remarked that she wished our (human) doctors office was like this one. You could tell they all care so much about their patients and are truly concerned and loving. What a wonderful environment to have your pet in. Read Less

I work in a local pharmacy and see prescriptions from this establishment. When we got our puppy I thought we would give it a try. So far we have gone in twice for our puppy shots and the experience has been wonderful. The ladies upfront are super sweet and patient. They all seem to enjoy being there, which says a lot. Scheduling an appointment was in a timely manner,. Words can not express how amazing they ALL are and how wonderful they treated my dog. Each time we went in we saw two different doctors. Both were very informative. Neither time was rushed, like they were trying to get as many people in and out. They went into detail with every question I asked and even went out of their way to write down things that I know I would forget once I left; and I didn't even ask them to write it down. In addition, the vet assistance were just as knowledgeable. They went into detail about each shot and explain to me the process as they went and what to expect.   The prices seem reasonable (only say seem because I am not familiar with vet charges). Not only am I excited to have an amazing dog but to know that I have a reliable and friendly veterinary staff keeps me at piece. Thank you so much for being such wonderful people. Read Less

This vet office is AWESOME! I was having trouble finding a place to take my bearded dragon here in Reno, as many of the veterinary offices are not reptile-friendly. After finding a very positive review on Yelp regarding Dr. Lopez at PVH, I called and booked an appointment as my beardie was not eating. They got me in two days after I called, and provided me with an emergency number in case anything happened before I was able to make it in. Their prices were very fair - $50 flat for a thorough, routine exam. Dr. Lopez, assisted by Jake, made this vet visit very non-stressful on my beardie and myself. They were quick and very knowledgable. After Dr. Lopez recommended I switch his diet from crickets to roaches (as sometimes bearded dragons get bored with their food) and recommended a few changes in his lighting, I made the necessary adjustments and Betelgeuse is now eating happily.Thanks Dr. Lopez! I took my little daschund in when he hurt his back and couldn't walk(have been going for years) Dr. Williams is the best, Put him on pain meds and crate rest and a wheel "Chair" for 8 weeks and he healed just fine. The problem is with the first vet I saw (an older blond woman) she seemed so uncaring and to me I need to make a hard decision. She made it seem like there was no hope and I should put him down. I threw a fit and Dr. Williams came in and helped us, That woman has no place around pets! The other young blond lady vet is nice too. On my last visit to the vet even tho I had an appt. we were left waiting for 3 hours because they "Forgot" us. Then was to by the other vet, not Dr. Williams, that my old boy need to have several teeth pulled and it would be 1200!! AND there was no guarantee he would survive the anesthesia. Uncaring woman . Very happy with our experience with Dr. Palmer this morning.I brought my rat, Eleanor, in to be seen for a respiratory infection. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, and Samantha, the vet tech, was patient and gentle with my scared pet and attentive as I explained the problem.Dr. Palmer is a fantastic vet. She did a full exam and determined that it was a respiratory infection and not pneumonia (yay!) and sent us home with tiny syringes of antibiotics. She was gentle with Eleanor and understanding of the fact that she was nervous and preferred to hide in my coat when she wasn't being examined. She taught me how to give the medicine and assured me I could call if I had any questions.The price was reasonable, just over $60 for everything including meds. Today I had to have my cat euthanized. I'd never been to PVH so I was a stranger to them. They didn't care about that, though. They cared about what I was going through. They had me come in right away when I called (others couldn't fit me in until late) and they didn't make me explain why I was there when I arrived. Everyone was so compassionate, caring, and kind. Brought my 3.5 year old heeler/collie mix in after he punctured his soft palate on a stick he was playing fetch with (do not play fetch with sticks!) it was a pretty serious injury and my dog was going to have to go into surgery - the entire staff was incredibly helpful, the staff in the front went out of there way to help me once I found out the price of the procedure was way more than I had on hand. In the end, I paid less than what I was estimated. My dog is home. He's healthy, happy, and I am so glad that I went in!Read Less

I had a horrible experience there this past week. I have been a loyal customer for several years, but this week my Jack Russell Terrier of ten years was attacked by a Great Dane. I rushed them in and he was treated and sent home with me. A few days later he woke up very sick. I took him back in (dropped him off) and received a call that he required "some" of the dead skin removed in a surgical procedure. When I picked him up that evening, I found my dog literally sawed in half. Stitches that spanned around his back and belly. I was also told that the price was now going to be $150 more than I was quoted and asked if I could afford to put him in the emergency pet hospital. $1500 into the two surgeries, I told them that I couldn't afford the vet hospital but that I would stay up with him all night and take care of him. All week I had been asking, "Is there a chance he will be okay, because if not, we don't want him to suffer." Each time I was told that although my Jack was ten, they thought he would be okay. Well, to make a long story short, I stayed up with my best friend suffering all night. He had a seizure at 3:45 am and passed away a little after 9:30 am, right when I left his side for a moment. I am at a complete loss. Was I taken for a ride so they could have more money? Yes, and in the end, my dog spent his final hours suffering. I will never forgive myself. Read Less

I wish my doctor was as good as my Dog's! My dog recently hurt his knee, ironically I had a similar injury a few years ago. The vets at Pyramid imediatly were able to take Xrays and diagnose the problem in no time. It took me an entire day to get that done and I was pointing at where it hurt. Once the doctors determined what was wrong they sat down with me and explained everything in great detail. The doctors explained the X-rays drew pictures and let me know all of my options and gave me their honest assesments of each treatment. I think I learned more from my visit than I did in my highschool biology class.My dog is doing great now and I will never take him anyplace else! Read Less

I have lived in Reno my entire life and would never consiter taking my pets to any other Veterinary hospital. The doctors and employees of pyramid have known my dog Srappy since he was just a puppy and treat him as if he were their own. The most important thing to me is knowing that when I leave Scrappy he will be in good hands. I could not imagine how I would feel if something happened to him and I knew that I had chosen a different hospital just to save a few dollars. With Pyramid I have complete confidence that they do everything in their power not to just make sure Scrappy is healthy but also to make sure he's happy. I've read the below post. . . and I've used the 'cheap' hospitals in town. . . and I got really cheap service. When I walked in the doctor immediatly introduced himself to my pet, got down on their level and started talking to her as if it was there own. The shocking part of my visit was a couple days after I left. The bill was paid, the animals had no follow-ups scheduled and I got a call from the doctor, "I wanted to see how Mila was doing?" - - I had some questions and he spent 30 minutes with me on the phone. I can't even recall when my family doctor's done that. (they never have!). I was referred to Pyramid Vet hospital by my daughters principal who said they saved her dogs life after being hit by a car. - - I trust them 10 fold. Read Less

They did not get permission to use treatments on our dog and then expected us to pay for them. This office will not work with you on payments so unless you have a lot of extra cash, don't use them.
