My dog, Johnny, died one month ago today after receiving inadequate testing, diagnosis, and treatment from Northside Animal Hospital. Johnny had a foreign body blockage which is the most common reason young dogs continue to vomit (95-98% of the time). Despite it being professional standards to run tests to rule out foreign bodies within 24-48 hours after vomiting begins, NAH ran the barium X-Ray series 12 days later. Dr. Liu suspected Johnny had a foreign body as indicated in her notes on day 3 and day 5, however, she never communicated that to me and opted to monitor another 24-48 hours. Dr. Krogman ignored Dr. Liu's note altogether and unequivocally communicated to me on day 6 Johnny did not have a foreign body blockage when I asked her if it was possible directly. Once testing on day 12 indicated the high likelihood of a foreign body blockage, Dr. Liu and Dr. Agulnick delayed surgery for an additional day even though Johnny had already gone without appropriate treatment for nearly two weeks. This was after NAH represented Johnny would be treated and have surgery on day 12. Johnny had surgery on day 13, however, due to the delay in appropriate treatment, his intestine perforated. Johnny passed away on day 14. A complaint has been submitted to the State of NH Board of Veterinary Medicine.
