My 14 year old black lab was seen on 03/05/2020 after a $360.00 bill we were told she has arthritis in her hind legs, we used all the Meloxidyl over the last 12 months and wanted to refill the prescription,( the prescription is good until 11/30/2021) however countryside won't refill the medicine unless we bring her in and pay $63.00 more, further more they won't authorize a internet pharmacy to fill the prescription. How sad that a VET would rather see my dog lay in pain everyday because i refuse to give these horrible people more money. I love my dog and will get her help from another VET thats not in it for the money, do your animal some good and stay away from countryside. lastly my dog most likely won't make it much further as I believe she is at end of life. today is 5/5/2021 Read Less

If I could give this office a zero I would. The new owners are clearly in it for the money and not the humanity for animals. My two cats have been together for 16 plus years and are both very sick. One has been seen by this office the other has not. I wanted to make an appointment to have both cats relieved of their pain and go to Kitty heaven. The owner refused the cat he has not seen but is more than happy to take care of the other one. Its a difficult decision to end the life of dearly loved pets. I will never spend another dollar with this office. Read Less

Not a very happy customer.  I have been using Countryside for more than 15 years.  Never had a bad experience with my Border Collie for 13 years.  I chose two stars instead of one only for that reason.  About 5 years ago I brought my American Bully to them with her ABKC papers. The vet insisted on putting Pit Bull as the breed.  Said she never heard of an "American Bully,  I showed her the papers from the breeder along with a printout from the internet showing the American Bully as a breed established and recognized since the mid nineties.  She dismissed it saying she looks like a Pit Bull. I should have pressed the issue but I did not at that time.  My dog had a skin rash and it had an odor to it and needed to be treated.  The vet tested for mange, came up negative.  Gave me an ointment, didn't work.  Went back again, took some blood and stool samples and medicated shampoo.  Still couldn't find anything.  After paying almost 700.00 in bills and not finding anything they were still stumped.  After doing my own research it turns out she has a food allergy.  I put her on a raw meat diet and her skin cleared up within days.Fast forward now a couple of years.  A customer comes into my shop who happens to volunteer at the Humane Society in Manchester NH.  I tell her about the mislabeling of my dog.  She informs me that the Humane Society uses DNA tests to find out the true breed of their dogs.  They do this because so many dogs are being mislabeled as Pit Bulls.I ordered the test that they use at the Humane Society and my results come back as 100% Pure Bred American Staffordshire Terrier which is NOT a Pit Bull.  I phone the staff at Countryside with the findings of the test.  They said they would speak with the vet and get back to me.  I waited three days and called back.  I was informed they would not change it because the "papers that I originally brought in stated she was a PIt Bull".  NOPE, I have my girls original paperwork and that is NOT the case.I am picking up my records today and going to a vet that listens, cares and is informed. Dr. Garland is wonderful with my cats.  I've had ferals who just melt in her arms. Her gentle manner and calm voice put both me and my cats at ease.  She is always encouraging when I tell her my pets issue, and is never unkind in her diagnosis.  Often she can detect the issue before I have to explain it.  She is generous with the time she spends on each animal and makes sure all my questions have been answered.  Her reasonable prices always surprise me and allow me to not hesitate in bringing my pet for an appointment, thinking I might not be able to afford it.  She is the most affordable Veterinarian I have ever seen, and doesn't try to push products on me as some other Vets have done.  Her nursing staff is great and I just can't say enough about the positive experiences I've had with Countryside Animal Hospital. Please DO NOT ever bring your pets here. I brought my Newfoundland here when he was 12 weeks old to be neutered when Dr. Garland told me he had kennel cough. He had already been vaccinated for kennel cough and did not have kennel cough at all. She tried treating him for something that he didn't have and of course wouldn't neuter him even if we had an appointment. Needless to say, I was VERY disgusted. The medication she gave my dog could have destroyed his liver because he didn't have the kennel cough at all. The only reason we were patients there, is because the practice was sold to these two nimwits who are a husband and wife team who have no idea what they are doing. I could go on about the experience we had with one of our cats too but the one I described takes the cake. They don't care about your babies. Please DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. Read Less

I went to this vet a few years ago and did not like it, but after moving back to the area, I thought I would give them a second try. When I made my appointment, they asked me to have records for my dog sent to them from my previous vet, and I promptly made those arrangements. Upon arriving for my appointment, no mention was made of not having the records, so I assumed everything was in order. The check up, in general, was awful. I do have an "aggressive breed" dog, who I have owned since she was 8 weeks old-she is almost 6 years now-and she has never hurt anyone. They treated her like a dangerous, crazed dog and had someone come in the room to physically restrain her while the vet checked her heart, etc. I have been to vets in OR, AK, OH, MA, and NH, and I have never had an experience like this. My dog looked terrified and nervous the entire time. The vet then quickly gave my dog 3 shots and said the appointment was done. Other vets I have seen always tell me what shots they are giving my dog before injecting. When I paid the bill and saw my invoice, I discovered the vet gave my dog shots she was not due for, and I was charged for them. Apparently, they did not have her records and, instead of bringing this to my attention, just went ahead and gave her a full round of vaccines. Needless to say, the vet was tripping over herself to apologize and gave me a partial refund. I am sure there are some people that like this place otherwise they would be out of business, but if you are a new patron to their business, I would suggest you keep a close eye on how they treat your furry family member.Read Less

STAY AWAY!I have two dogs and they each go to different vets. The chocolate lab that I brought to Countryside had been seen there for 10 years. I have never been fond of them, but my most recent visit really put me over the edge. My dog was coughing, so the vet recommended an x-ray. She took him back to be x-rayed, and when he was brought back, the vet told me that he probably had bronchitis. I asked if there was any medication that I could put him on and she said there was one but she "wouldn't recommend it." Did I mention that she didn't even show me the x-ray? His exam if you can call it that consisted of a light being shone in my dog's eyes while he was being patted by the vet tech. On that visit I also had him vaccinated. Apparently he was given his shots right after being x-rayed while he was still out of the exam room that I was waiting in. I was not asked which vaccines I wanted him to get, and prices were never discussed. I was pretty much pushed out of the exam room while I was asking questions. I was charged for 2 x-rays, and my dog is still under the weather. When I went back for his medical records so that I could bring them to a different vet, I was given them after having to jump through a few hoops. I was a little horrified to see how thin his file was. My dog that has been seen there for 10 years has a record six pages long, single-sided. I got in touch with a friend of mine who use to bring her dog there and she told me that they kept pushing off her yellow lab's problems, and as a result, her dog's cancer wasn't found in time, and she ended up passing away at 7 years old.The people at Countryside Animal Hospital do not care for the well being of animals. They generally seem disinterested in not only their animal patients, but the people who bring them in. They are bad people who conduct their business unethically. If you care about your pet, do not bring them anywhere near Countryside Animal Hospital.(I wrote this review a few months ago and have since switched my lab to another vet. He is doing so much better! Getting him away from Countryside saved his life!) Read Less

I am sure there are some people that like this place otherwise they would be out of business, but if you are a new patron to their business, I would suggest you keep a close eye on how they treat your furry family member.Read Less

Dr. Jim and Dr. Sara are tremendous in their genuine expert care, diagnosing, and providing realistic options with straight forward candor and compassion. Our family has entrusted our animal care with Countryside for over 20 years and if we ever moved outside if NH would drive the extra miles to continue with their professional animal care services. They have improved and extended the quality of life for our Golden Retriever Rollie of which we are eternally grateful. Read Less

Drs Garland and Herrmann and staff at Countryside Animal Hospital are wonderful. We have been taking our dogs and cats there for over 15 years and have always received professional care. When our animals reached that end-of-life time, the doctors were very caring and sensitive to the situation. I strongly recommend you check them out. Read Less
