Terrible. They forgot to put in the computer how many vaccines my dogs got at an appointment. Then they wanted to give her another vaccine because it wasn't on file. Anytime I have tried to go here for my dog they are always booked. I called today after my dogs got into a vicious fight. I said there is blood everywhere can I bring my dog in. I was put on hold and told they are fully booked and to go to Portsmouth. I have spoken to numerous people and nobody has heard of anything like this in there life. So basically if you have an emergency, sucks to be you. Good luck getting in since they are always booked. Here's an idea either stop double booking your customers or hire more vets. Not impressed in the least and I will let everyone I know to stay far away from this place. It seems they care more about the mighty dollar rather than the care and we'll being of animals. Sickening. This place is completely unrealiable. If you have large dogs do not ever bring them here because they don’t do surgery on them. Actually, don’t bring any pet for that matter. They don’t take anyone or anything seriously there anymore, they’re dealing with our pets and treating them like they couldn’t care less. Growing up my pets always went here, and were taken care of perfectly. So I assumed coming in with my dog now, nothing would be any different. I went for my dog who had a torn ligament, a CCL. Upon my first visit Dr. Wallace told my mother and I that my dog would need surgery straight away but they had to do x-rays first just to be sure. Then they gave me medicine to give my dog for the 3 days so she wouldn’t be in pain while we waited for X-rays to be available, plus she had to fast before hand so we would’ve had to wait a day or two anyways- there was a snow storm so id assume it would push our Thursday appointment to a Friday. So on Wednesday I had called to reschedule my appointment, keeping the snow in mind. I was told the vet was out to lunch and that they’d call me back as soon as he returned. That was at 10:30 a.m. I did not receive a call back from the office that day and my 4 tries calling were ignored. On Friday morning they called to inform us that I had an appointment that morning (but didn’t bother to call me on Wednesday like they had said they would) When my dog came home from x-rays on Friday she came with a $500 bill- they said they offer the cheapest x-rays available, if that’s cheap then I’m screwed for the surgery. THEN Dr. Wallace told us that they do not perform this type of surgery on big dogs and that they needed a urine sample because they had suspicions of kidney problems. I brought it in and they said It had to be fresher but not one person told me that I had to get it at a certain time. So now, it’s been over a week since her injury and they JUST gave me referrals to another vet after I asked 20 times at the front desk, to the vetranarian and to the technician and all I got was 2 phone numbers. Now I have to pay for a whole other consultation fee at another vet because they felt like they needed to get all my money for the X-rays before sending me off. I have been taking our dog Molly there for years. Dr. Wallace and the entire staff are very caring and professional. After appointments, all my questions are answered. They are priced fair, and will always suggest, never pressure. A great staff. You won't go wrong if you need medical treatment for your pet. They treat them just like a family member. Let's face it. It took me a long time to finally post this review after speaking with my sister about her issues with her vet. I have decided to speak out about this. First of all this place has the absolute worst customer service they use to cancel my appointments last minute, change them around, etc. Thank god I work from home, couldn’t imagine if I had taken off of work for these “appointments”. Keep in mind my father has went here for both his cat and dog for years without issues so I decided to do the same. Going with him as a child I always had a good experience, the staff seemed friendly and caring. Times have changed apparently! The thing that made me leave for good was I had brought my new puppy in only for her to be traumatized by one of staff there. At this time she had already been a couple times, had most of her shots done already, etc. I forget the exact reason for her visit at the time because it was about a year ago now, maybe a little longer. I believe she was going to get the last of her puppy shots during this visit. I went with my girlfriend during this visit so she can vouch for my story on this!!! The guy we had who we had a couple times previosly who appeared nice the other visits suddenly changed when my 3 month old puppy nipped at him as he was playing with her on the floor, mind you she was a PUPPY and this big guy took my tiny dog and slammed her full force on the ground causing her to yelp and almost poop herself (we could smell it!!). Me and my girlfriend were in absolute shock! He said right after “don’t worry this isn’t hurting her I’ve had to do this with other dogs, you just need to put them in there place”. Needless to say we never went back! You have been warned!!!! I rarely ever complain and it took me a lot to finally post this up but after discussing with my sister about our bad vet experiences I really felt a need to post this to warn others. I really wish I could remember that guys name, all I can remember is he had short brown hair at the time, he was heavy set, and it was one of the staff that gives shots (not the actual vet / doctor). I have been bringing my 3 dogs and cat to PKAMC since 2007.  I usually would see Heather Berry and on occasion would see Walter Grambow, they were wonderful, especially Heather.  Recently I had one of my dogs get ill with some eye goop and lethargic.  I called first thing in the morning and was told he could be seen at 3:30p.  I get to there and he is seen by Dr. Wallace, though I know he owns the practice in 10 years I have never seen or met him and found it odd.  Dr. Wallace took a look at my dog and told me he'd run some blood work. He then left with my dog as I waited.  One of the techs brought back my dog and I sat there in the room for about 20 minutes as my dog got sicker and sicker before a tech came out to tell me they could cash me out.  No one told me the blood work takes a day or two to come back, I thought I was sitting there waiting for blood test results.  I was given eye drops for him and as I went to pay my dog become very ill, couldn't even stand.  I panicked and told the front desk girls who said they would check with the doctor, they took my dog back to the doctor and a few minutes later came out to tell me that to take him home and they'd call me in the next day with the blood test results.  I knew something is drastically wrong with my dog.  I left and brought him to Bulger Animal Hospital we're he was confirmed to have Immune mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA).  The vets there were perplexed that he was just seen by his vet with he not realizing how ill he was, and time was of essence with this disorder to get a blood transfusion as soon as possible.  Unfortunately my dog was too far gone by this point and his immune system by that time had killed off too many of his own red blood cells and there was very little hope by that point to save him.  The fact that he was just seen by his own vet, who didn't even take his temperature is beyond me and that he just sent us on our way with such a common deadly illness is showing the lack of care there now.  I'm not sure where my previous vets went to, but I don't believe they are there anymore and I certainly won't be returning with any of my other pets. Sadly we went here when our dog was diagnosed with mass cell cancer which spread very rapidly. They we're very kind and told us all of our options with no judgement. The Dr was so personable and truly took the time to listen. The staff was incredibly empathetic and would recommend. Read Less

As a keeper of exotic reptiles, many times my veterinarian needs are specific and odd. PKAMC has treated my animals and I with respect and care, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them for those unusual pets out there. Read Less

They are amazing! They are great price also! My kitty hates vets after being grabbed by the skin of her back (not the neck) and dragged across the table while sticking her with a needle she tends to hate vets but she absolutely loooooves the older male vet she was Ben purring for him! Dr insalaco had the best "bedside manner " of ANY doctor we've ever seen when we took our lethargic cat in to be checked. The intake staff is friendly and efficient. Prices seem reasonable. Their DVM staff has had some turnover over the years but the front office staff and quality of service has remained. Read Less

This vet practice is OK for routine exams or issues. I was less than impressed with the bird vet (Dr. Wallace?) - I felt his exam of my conure was pretty rushed and generic. Eli seems to be a good vet tech. Walt Grambow was the best vet, he's moved on to another practice. Read Less

I bring my 3 birds to see Dr. Wallace. We're very lucky that there is an avian vet so close to home - I know some people have to travel quite a distance to see an avian vet, yet ours is right around the corner. Dr. Wallace and his staff have been great with my birds, I can tell Dr. W enjoys birds and he knows how to handle them well. The exams were through and I thought the price was fair for 3 wellness checks. It was easy to get an appointment, even though we had to reschedule a few times because of our changing working hours. They even offer weekend appointments, which is really convenient for those who need it. Read Less

I absolutely recommend Dr. Wallace for anyone with a Sugar Glider!I had previously taken my glider to a vet who advertised to specialize in exotics,  upon arrival the woman would not handle my Glider even though I insisted she was a non-biter and quite friendly. After a check-up (that I felt was performed by myself) and a stool sample ($30.00 by the way.. for a poop smaller than the size of an adult pinky nail) , some antibiotics, and pain meds... the bill ended up being over $200.00. For very, very small quantities of medications.. The vet suggested that I get an Xray done (which included some tranquilizers so the Glider would stay still) that would have costed an additional $100.00!! Not only did I not want to put my glider through that.. but I only showed up with so much Cash..Another week or so went by and I continued to notice my glider seemed off, after doing more research I came across Dr. Wallace. He was SO nice, and he just grabbed her right out of her pouch and handled her like a PROFESSIONAL! He knew how to hold her so she couldn't get away from him, and he even did a free urine sample for my girl. He was insanely thorough and highly educated on Gliders. Come to find out my glider just wasn't getting enough water in her system (even though there is always fresh water available to my gliders) and she was bound up a bit! So now I just put a teaspoon of water on top of her Priscilla Price diet, and I haven't had a problem since!Great guy, great staff.. Highly recommended! Read Less

If you are looking for a Caring, Honest and Devoted Veternarian; this Medical Center is what you need. I have been bringing my pets here for at least 20 years. Their compassion and knowledge cannot be matched as they treat each individual with most respect to the owner and pet. They all truly listen to your needs and your pets needs. They will give you as much details as you need to make decisions. Recently; my 14 yr. old cat became ill and required daily medicine and extra care that I could no longer provide due to job loss and other family priorities that I had no control over. They were willing to work with me and gave me surprising options that I could only pray for. Who knew that I wouldn't be the only person to fall in love with Tux ! He did touch someone elses heart; and is in the secure and loving arms of the best fit possible. Thank you Heidi, you're an angel and I'll never forget August 7. I bring my reptiles here , it is very close to my house. Eli seems to know alot about reptiles and they are very helpful when it comes to any issues that may arise. This place is amazing, they really care about our 'kids' and us as well. We have been bringing ours there for several years now all the way from Malden MA and have never had any problems, feel very well taken care of and they are always there to listen and listen well to what your concerns are.I would recommend them to anyone with pets! PKAMC is the best!  I've been a dog owner my whole life. They are hands down the best vet I have ever used. Never have I been to a friendlier vet. I usually see Dr. Berry. I cannot speak more highly of her. I have three dogs, one of which is a huge chicken. Dr. Berry is the first vet that has been able to examine her without her FREAKING out. A former vet actually used to muzzle her because she was so nervous (fear and aggression are totally different things). Dr. Berry clearly loves dogs and mine can sense this about her. Have been going here for years. Used to be great years ago... But it's not anymore. The women at the front desk are rude and always seem like you are inconveniencing them. Always overreacted towards us and our dog because he was scared of them... isn't part of working at a Vet's office to be comforting and actually like animals? On our last few appts we had good visits with Dr. Gambrow (?). He was great but dealing with the ridiculously awful customer service wasn't worth it. Going to another vet now and love it! We've been bringing our dogs here for 8+ years now. Front desk staff are awesome. Technicians are great. We have 2 mini-dachshunds that weigh maybe 12lb each. One is chill, the other is a pain is a wriggler. We bring the wriggler to get her nails cut and they're so good. Both dogs have been spayed and we always got great follow up. They're super flexible and will try their hardest to squeeze you in. We usually see Dr. Heather Berry and if you looked up "dog lover" in the dictionary there would be a pictures of Dr Berry. She lets my crazy dogs with their doggy breath cuddle in and lick her face but they've never been frightened to go to the vet because of it. Our first dog sadly died 4 weeks after we got her (9 years ago) and PKAMC were so sweet - they found out from the 24 hr animal hospital and sent a very heartfelt note expressing their sadness. Been a client for years, even way back when they were behind that plaza across from market basket.My family trusts the vets and techs here. They are warm, welcoming, comforting, and professional. My cats love going because you can feel the love in the air it seems here. I have never had a negative experience here.
