Wilton Animal hospital advertises emergency care during open hours, laughable!!! I have been a customer since 2009. I called for 2 days in a row letting the office know that my dog was not well. I asked to come in two days in a row. I was turned away by whoever answered the phone (she didn't sympathize with the animal and shouldn't be in this field). Didn’t even get a phone call from the Vet asking what is wrong. Wow, what horrible service. They only seem to want to help you with well visits and very happy to take your money. I don’t know what happened to them, but their service went downhill. I will never use them again. If you are thinking of using them, RUN!!!!!! I took my dog to another vet, and he needed antibiotics for a possible infection. After receiving the care, he needed he was back to normal. What a disgrace this animal hospital has become. My dog suffered for 2 days because of their lack of concern. Some of the staff is rude, unprofessional and can't follow through with simple instructions. They don't even deserve one star. This practice needs a significant overhaul. Read Less

This *WAS* the best veterinary place around until Vet Core took it over and did not renew the contract with the best vet there: Dr. Janet Merrill.  Dr. Maki was horribly rude to me.  I told them (including Dr. Maki) BEFORE setting foot into the exam room that Holly, my 18 year old, indoor, Championed Ragdoll would NOT have a rabies shot because she was so ill.  They could titre her for rabies but not the shot.  There are exceptions to the vaccinations required when the animal is sick, even under the law.  Dr. Maki checked her over, gave her a shot for the URI, them smugly refused to do the BP and bloodwork required to help her survive Chronic Renal Disease (CRD). So he treated the cat, then with a wry smile refused further treatment for the *serious* problem.  I had lost one cat to  the very same thing after he was given a Rabies shot.  So Dr. Maki got his slightly less than $100, lost a client of 30 years who owned dogs, cats, and had a well-respected Ragdoll cattery known all over the world. I take them elsewhere now. Yes, for 30 years Dr. Merrill treated my animals with outstanding competency and caring.  This one visit with Dr. Maki sent not just one, but MANY other clients away. It's known in the general veterinary world from others looking to change veterinary clinics and why. There are a lot of people in the world of animals that know me - no more referrals from me!! Great job, Dr. Maki and Vet Core!  By the way, Vet Core destroyed Countryside Animal Hospital in Chelmsford, when they bought that one out too. Read Less

I wish I could be a fan, but I'm not. I took my extremely ill cat there in a panic. We had just moved to Wilton and our 2 year old cat was suddenly cold to the touch, breathing shallowly and occasionally crying and writhing in pain. I had noticed this vet as the closest one, so I sped her there. After an excruciatingly long wait they decided that she should have a special scan done. They put her back into the carrier with a warm water bottle and told me to drive an hour to another vet that had this special machine...  I drove all the way there in tears. My cat ended up moving a blood clot due to the hot water bottle and she became paralyzed. The vet I drove an hour to see said there wasn't much that could be done except relieve her suffering and euthanize her. I later learned that the Milford Animal Hospital (only 10 minutes away from the Wilton vet) had this special scan machine- but The Wilton Vet didn't want to send us there for fear of losing our future business. A trip to Milford would have saved my sweet cat a whole lot of suffering. Read Less

I grew up in Wilton and my parents have brought their cats to Wilton Animal Hospital for over 30 years.  I cannot say enough good things about this practice, and particularly about Dr. Merrill who has been our main vet - both their expertise in resolving medical issues and their genuine caring for their furry patients and their patients' human owners.  Thanks in no small part to Wilton Animal Hospital, all of the cats (with the exception of one who died of an untreatable congenital condition at a young age) lived to be nearly 20 years old, and the vets always helped us treat their various elderly-cat conditions (kidney failure, thyroid issues, IBS, etc) effectively and compassionately.  Plus, the vets at Wilton Animal Hospital have gone above and beyond in so many ways - from treating and nursing back to health at their own expense a seriously injured but very sweet stray cat who had been brought in to be put to sleep (and ultimately finding her a new home with my family, who adored her for the rest of her long life), to making a house call for a very sick cat who was terrified of new people and places, to simply being a kind, caring, and understanding presence at the end of a beloved pet's long life.  Please don't listen to a few negative reviews for this place - read the filtered, mostly highly positive, reviews, or just give them a chance! Doctors Janet Merrill & Mike Maki have been our family veterinarians for more than 35 years. You'll never meet more caring, knowledgable individuals. An example: after being mauled by a neighborhood dog, many years ago, our basset, Hilda, had to be seen once weekly to have drainage tubes checked & cleaned. She was very nervous, most likely remembering the pain she'd been in when she first went there. Dr. Merrill used to come out to our car to treat her, so she wasn't frightened. Also, when it has come time for the final heart-wrenching goodbyes to our furry Friends, their doctors have cried right along with us. I can't speak to other Veterinarians, but for 19 years I've been a faithful patron of Wilton Animal Hospital and was never disappointed by Dr. Merrill's care or expertise! Office visits are thorough and the cheapest around. Payment plans were offered for both of my Dog's surgeries to try to make things affordable, even though I didn't need them.   I've seen a couple reviews on here of people saying they don't like the hospital because they wouldn't take an extra buck to sell prescription dog food illegally or because they didn't seek alternative or homeopathic methods. This is a straight-shooting New England front desk with doctors from the best veterinary schools in the country who care enough to treat shelter dogs they've adopted. If you want a dog trainer, hire a trainer. If you want charity work, go to a free hospital. If you want great care at a reasonable price, COME HERE. Read Less

Read Less

That cat still has two holes that won't heal over, nearly two years later....If you love your animal, KEEP DRIVING... Read Less
