After 12 years of bringing my beautiful Maltese "Daisy" here I would Never recommend this facility for any animal!, she very suddenly got a mast cell tumor in her right leg . This was in march 2016. After being referred to a cancer specialist in Philadelphia, we saw the only thing left for us to do was to set her free from this world rather than allow her to have a decreased quality of life. We used a wonderful home care vet from "House Paws" to put her down . I notified Animal Bird And Healthcare center that we had to put Daisy down and to my heartbreaking disappointment I never got a call , card or any acknowledgment of my precious pets passing after 12 years of loyalty! How dare they! They abandoned me when I needed them ! We found amother vet for our new Maltese Nico! Read Less

I was accused of starving my animal by Dr. Mead. Even after I showed feed charts she ignored them and had no advice for care. I never recived blood work. She cursed and screamed at me. Very unprofessional. I took my animal to Mt. Laurel Animal Hospital. They instantly knew after an ultrasound that my animal had advanced liver disease and recommend euthanizing. They were shocked she lived more than two years with the condition. Animal & Bird has deteriorated to a substandard vet. I am so embarrassed to recomend this vet for 8 years. Just go to Mt Laurel. I was referred here from UPenn along with three other exotic animal vets. My bunny has a broken leg and needs amputation. The other vets I called gave me a MUCH higher estimation on the cost and also had up to a week wait time to fit him in. Even though I'm about an hr away and in a different state, it was worth the travel to take my bunny here. Excellent and experienced staff who really spent quality time with me and my bunny going over our options. We had spent over 4 hrs first at UPenn just to have an x-ray and bandage put on. The wait here was minimal and took about 1.5 hrs total, most of which was spent talking directly to the vet. My buns has his surgery tomorrow morning since they could fit him in right away, and we feel really good about it! Read Less

I've been taking my rabbit here for a few years and everyone is wonderful. Dr. Meade is fantastic, she really knows her stuff, is very personable, and clearly loves her job.The techs are all sweet and do a good job handling my (usually terrified!) bunny. He recently had an emergency and they had me come in right away even though they were clearly busy.Prices are fair. It's more than what a standard small animal hospital would charge, which is to be expected since they're dealing with exotics, but nothing crazy. Dr Cromwell is the bomb!  My guinea pig Skootchie has been seen here a few times for an reoccurring abcess. Dr Cromwell performed surgery to remove the abcess and my girl is doing great. The office and doctor take the time to call and check up on your animal as well. 5 stars vet! Read Less

At first, we were very happy with the service of the Animal & Bird Health Care Center, but over time, we felt they over charged greatly on medicine purchased trough their office, didn't show urgency or care during emergency situations, and weren't transparent when asked about medication pricing. When we told them we were switching vets, they didn't care whatsoever or ask for feedback. When dog had similar health issue at our new vet, the prices for same medications were dramatically cheaper and more in line with those of online medication suppliers.Read Less

We have been taking our dogs to Animal & Bird Health Care Ctr. for MANY years. Our "primary" Dr. Is Dr. Kupersmith. Dr. Kupersmith is a genuine animal lover. He remembers our pets' "quirks" & any health issues they may have. Dr K is patient, he listens to our concerns & clearly explains everything. He  answers our questions & calls to see how our dog is doing when they have had a procedure. He is extremely knowledgeable & understanding. He is top notch, cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Kupersmith.Our dogs have been seen by other Vets at Animal & Bird over the years. Every Vet in this practice has been competent, professional, thorough & compassionate. They provide clear instructions & answers to questions.Everyone at Animal & Bird Health Care - the Front Desk staff, the Technicians, & the Docs - are wonderful. Everyone is professional, courteous, knowledgeable & most of all - they are genuine animal lovers & they know how much we love our pets. This practice is not a "hard sell" - the Vets recommend what is NEEDED - be in health care tests, blood work, heart worm medication, immunizations etc. Their focus is on what is best for their animal patients. No one at this practice attempts to "sell" anything that is not needed. Dr. Kupersmith checked out my dog for an entire week. Literally for an entire week and sometimes twice a day. He only referred us to emergency services the day the dog had to get put down. Could he have referred us earlier? Yes, he could have and we could have gotten him help...he could still be alive rather than be getting put down prematurely at 7 years old. I would not refer him to ANYONE. My family has mourned the loss of our dog at the expense of a horrible veterinarian. Read Less

I bring my rat Cori here, and have had a wonderful experience every time. The staff is informative, patient, and great with my little girl. After joining many rat groups and doing research on the proper care for a rat, I have to say I am truly impressed with Animal and Bird. They know what medications to give her, and the bottles the medications are packed in are top quality. They are darkened glass bottles with pop-off lids that have a little hole in the top where the oral syringe fits perfectly for no-drip filling. I am never given less medication than needed, and the prices are better than at other vets I have been to. Last year, I had to leave Cori overnight for a tumor removal, and I was of course a little nervous, having never been to this vet before. When I picked her up, I realized that she had been in caring hands. The staff had checked on her regularly, and when Cori refused to eat the food I left for her, one of the vet techs gave her some of her salad, which she gobbled up. Before I left, I was shown how to fill the oral syringes, and was given a thorough explanation of everything I needed to do. I felt completely comfortable bringing my rattie home, and was happy to bring her back for her follow up examination. While I have appreciated every doctor that Cori has seen, and I know that all of them know how to treat my baby, I love the fact that the vet you start with (say for a tumor removal) is also the vet that does the follow up. I never feel like my rat is seen as less important than any other (bigger) animal there (as has been the case in other vet offices), because her case is never carelessly handed to another doctor. I will always bring my rats to Animal and Bird. I am so happy with them, that even though I live 40 minutes away, it is easily worth the drive. Read Less

Everyone here has such a compassionate heart. We love each and every doctor. Recently, Dr Brown helped our little Torti cross the Rainbow Bridge. Her bedside manner was exceptional. My daughter and I bring our rats here and they are the best! Recently, we had an emergency where one of our babies had a swollen foot. We had to bring him in on a Saturday morning. Unfortunately, they had an emergency and had to perform surgery on a bunny. It was taking a long time to be seen, which we completely understood, but we had a 3 tiered cake to deliver and were running short on time. They did an intake (no charge) on our baby (Sam) so that we could leave and go deliver the cake. Sam could be seen in the meantime and we could pick him up after. I recently took my bearded dragon, with a fear of yellow skin disease. Dr. Brown took blood work and a couple days later it came back as an infection. She explained to us that he needed intervenes medicine & she shoved us how to do it at home. Last Friday, my bunny had developed GSI and sadly, died on the car ride to Dr. Browns office. Dr. Brown and her whole team were extremely sympathetic and helped us with the loss of our bunny. Her team took a imprint of his foot and discussed our options with us. We chose to have him cremated. So they helped us pick an urn, and yesterday I just received a sympathy card from them. They are an amazing team and I will forever use them as my family vet! Read Less

Update on my experiences. I just had a chinchilla who had a baby stuck and needed a c-section. Dr. Kupersmith was able to perform the c-section and save momma chin. I arrived at this practice with a very sick gerbil and a distraught 10 year old, having heard of them only an hour before we arrived. They were simply amazing. They got us in so quickly and dealt with us so honestly and so kindly. Sadly the gerbil had to be put to sleep but given the circumstances I could not imagine a better experience. I'm so happy that we tried this vet. I am a guinea pig fancier, and it is so hard to find exotic competent vets and vet techs. They were knowledgeable about nutrition and care. They even sold in office what I consider to be the best available guinea pig food and nutritional supplements in the United States. Every single employee was very nice and helpful. Although he didn't make it, I appreciate so much how they tried to save my poorly Duke (my very special, smart, and favorite piggy) after inappropriate care and lack of appropriate diagnostics at a different veterinary office. When he passed, Dr. Meade talked to me and expressed her condolences. She even offered to perform an autopsy, although I found it unnecessary. They took great care of us when we were making cremation arrangements and made us a wonderful footprint keepsake. This is a very very thoughtful and caring facility. My 3 cats, all hybrids who have unique medical concerns, have received exceptional treatment here--and when things got really complicated, they made the appropriate referrals to get the needed services. I have read the other reviews, including the negative ones--and honestly, I understand why an owner would be upset out a misdiagnosis--however, having used this practice for at least 5 years, I think it's important to know that not every animal is 1) able to be saved and 2) able to be diagnosed on the first pass. One of my cats is among the "unable to be saved" --his life will be shorter as a result, but the team has helped me keep him happy and comfortable despite a myriad of health issues. Just like humans, medicine has limits; and they have kept my financial health in mind as well, showing me options, costs and making suggestions for most useful, least expensive options. Additionally, I have never felt judged for choosing NOT to put my 9 yo cat through any more invasive procedures. Read Less
