I called and looked around for animal hospitals for my rabbit who had mites and an eye infection. I originally booked an appointment at Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital after a friend recommended Dr. Onesis there but I had to wait almost 5 days before I could meet with their doctor. I'm happy I found this place. I called and had an appointment with Dr. Diggle within 2 days. I have never taken my rabbit to any vet before and loved his service. He was great and answered all of my questions about general rabbit care. His veterinary assistant, Rachel I believe her name was, was also great! Very nice and made my bunny feel comfortable as the doctor gave him shots and medication. I do find it to be a but expensive (my 3 visits cost north of 300) but it was worth it for the care and wellbeing of my bunny. I would definitely recommend. Some problems are the small waiting area. Not ideal for a lot of patients or big dogs all at the same time. Not everywhere will see rabbits as they are considered exotic but this place is great! I drive almost a half hour to see Dr. Diggle. my dog was put on prescription canned food due to pancreatitis. I had one day left of food called on a Saturday all day and phone was busy. finally got a front desk person who didn't seem to care about my dog's well being since she kept on saying that the doctors will call me back next monday or tuesday or wedneday because one was on vacation the other wasn't in until then,  etc. All I needed was a prescription. She would not make a doctor available to me and I think my dog having no food is imperative and calls for a doctor writing me a prescription.   I've been coming here for 13 years but things have changed. The doctors are good but service like this is unacceptable .  i'll be looking for another vet's office there are several near me anyway. Read Less

There are some really great doctors here, unfortunately it seems they take on too many patients. If you don't mind waiting in a crowded waiting area with your dog you will save a lot of money and might get a good doctor. Also, do your research before you let them talk you into any procedures. Hello first I want to start out by stating do not bring your animal to this vet period. I will state the reasons which are many. My wife and I were switching vets as to be closer to our home and went on yelp to see what was around read some of the reviews and decided to give dr. Diggle a shot. Very bad mistake the front office is small, smelly and dark. To many animals with the ability to get into confrontations because there is no where to go. The staff in the front office are useless they don't care about any wait times they are like zombies. Now for my real issue about 3 weeks ago I had my dogs out with me and one of them got a small gash on her side of her neck I saw a little blood and decided to take her to dr. Diggle because I didn't want her sick or if it needed stiches. Now mind you my wife and I have spent thousands of dollars at this vet. I bring in the dog at 315pm the drone in the front office said to me the dr. Will look at your dog but we will have to charge you 65dollars extra because it's after hours? WHAT EVERYONE WAS THERE NO ONE HAD TO COME IN DR DIGGLE WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE UNBELIEVABLE MONEY HUNGRY UNFEELING PEOPLE. So they look at my dog it had to be a cut less then a inch Dr. Diggle with froth and saliva coming from his mouth with the idea of oh boy what can we charge for doing this well 575dollars later I found out. For a 1 inch cut. That's not the worst he says I can pick up the go at 6pm so my wife and I get there 545pm no one around where's my dog better yet where is anybody? About 6pm one of his helpers come let us in and gives up the antibiotics for the dog and etc we thought he was going to have a nervous breakdown talking to us because he knew we were pissed. NOT ONLY DID THEY COMPLETELY OVERCHARGE US THEY SEDATED OUT DOG LEFT HER ALONE IN THE DARK AND LEFT NO ONE WATCHING HER COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.  I REPEAT DON'T BRING YOUR PET TO THIS FACILITY THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU THE FRONT DESK PEOPLE ARE UNCARING AND COULD CASE LESS ABOUT YOU OR YOUR PET. ON TOP OF IT IT IS A FILTHY OFFICE I WAS A HEALTH INSPECTOR FOR FORTY YEARS SO I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. So it's been three weeks now we have found a vet that we truly like and the facilities are wonderful and do you think they follow up to see about my dogs stiches and how she is doing of course not THAT'S EXTRA. The staff are very caring.  The prices are reasonable.  We wouldn't go anywhere else. When our first dog died.  I was surprised to get a sympathy card in the mail. I have used Dumont Animal Hospital for years, since Dr. Diggle was a solo practitioner. He returned my calls the same evening, even if he had to call after office hours, which I found unusually attentive. Thankfully, I haven't had to make any anxious calls in the last several years. The practice has expanded significantly since then, and I've seen all but one of the vets there. Dr. Bortz, in particular, is amazing. When we had to put one of our dogs down, she rearranged her schedule so that she could be the one there with us, and she stayed with us until we were ready to say our final goodbye. She is great with the animals and does not recommend procedures just to make a buck. I have never seen the conditions that a prior commenter mentioned. The exam rooms have always been pristine when I go in and out, and I see the staff cleaning the floors and examining tables all the time. And while I'm mentioning staff, I have found everyone who works in the office to be kind and friendly. It is true that the waiting room can be cramped, and there can be a bit of a wait before you're seen, but the wait time often depends on when you are there. Saturday mornings are extremely busy. And if there is an emergency, it can push back a regularly scheduled appointment. As far as I'm concerned, that's a minor inconvenience for the knowledge that if I had an emergency, my pets would be seen earlier rather than later. Read Less

There is no caring for my pet. It's more like they see dollar signs. The waiting room is cramped and has every kind of animal:dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots, lizards. My dogs are prey driven. We had our border collie mix spayed here. They took her in at 9am and didn't do surgery until nearly 12pm. When we came to pick her up, they had us wait in a filthy examining room. Scum was on the walls and waxy hair was on the ground. I was very happy my dog survived, but I will not go back. The front office slaves away with no direction. Although the wait times can be agitating, I wouldn't take my pets to anyone else other than Dr.Diggle. I have a Mainecoon and a domestic long haired cat and since I've had them, they have always been in his care. The staff is friendly and they do their best to accommodate you. Very knowledgeable vets and staff. I was recommended by a herp breeder to come here for a reptile vet. I had no wait whatsoever (I came on a weekday) and everyone was friendly, helpful, and explained every procedure and diagnosis. The cost was very reasonable.My python ended up needing several antibiotic shots, so for a while I was visiting every other day, and they made each visit quick and easy. Their wait times are insane. Every time I come in, I'm waiting a minimum of 45 minutes. Why book an appointment if the wait is so long? Today, I waited just about an hour. My dog had surgery here. On the day of her surgery they had me come in at 9am. They didn't perform surgery till 11:30. My poor dog was shivering scared in a cage for over 2 hours. The girls in the front aren't very helpful either. They have bad phone manners and just stare at you when you walk in with that "what do you want" look. Read Less

THE BEST VET IN NJ-Dr Diggles, and staff at Dumont Animal Hospital are miracle workers, and they do an amazing job wit caring for your pets.I first met Dr Diggles staff 4 yrs ago when my child Pomeranian died from Cancer after being newly diagnosed from another Vet. We were beyond devastated, absolutely hysterical. I took Cece's remains to Dumont Animal Hospital. I called around in the phone book, to find out who could handle cremation of our dog's remains. The staff at Dumont Animal Hospital were so kind, and the rates to cremate were so affordable. I drove from Morris County to Dumont to take our dog (he died suddenly at home on a Saturday morning). When I arrived a very kind & compassionate staff member met me in the parking lot of the hospital with a gurney, and took Cece out of the back of my SUV. I was a crying mess. I wanted Cece cremated wherein, we get only his ashes, and also a urn. All of the staff were so very kind. I got Cece's ashes back in a week, in a beautiful urn. I was pleasantly surprised to get a handwritten card from Dr Diggles. That was so special, and kind. I knew I had to return for Vet care for my other 2 dogs. It has now been 4 years, and I must say, I recommend Dr Diggles to all of my friends with pets. Read Less

One of them is a senior and both doctors have done wonders to extend his life. I couldn't ask for a better Veterinarian Office for my precious babies! Everyone is so nice and friendly and while their prices are affordable, in no way is quality sacrificed! If any of my cats are staying over night(s) they take each one of my check up calls, sometimes several a day and take the time to reassure and comfort me and let me know I can call and check up as I feel I need to! I'm sure they have more important things to attend to; but every time, they take that time just for me! We love Dr. Diggle and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!Read Less

Came here based on my SO's recommendation - he brought his maltese, Minnie, in for rabies shot and a general check up and was so pleased, he told me I should bring my baby Mochi in for his full check up, so I did. I waited AN HOUR. AN HOUR?! For that, I'm taking a star off from what I originally would have given. I went up to the receptionist/nurse who could care less about my waiting time - I missed MY own doctor's appointment for this. She told me, "well, everyone has their own selected doctor" - WELL THAT'S GREAT. I DO NOT HAVE ONE AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ANYONE. I didn't lose my sh*t there, just for the love of all the beautiful animals surrounding me, but I would've if it was a hospital for humans - they would've have had to treat me for my mental breakdown. Sure, it was a Saturday... we came in early to fill out the forms. What the heck is wrong with you people who work the desk? You guys suck. Non-attentive and evasive in responsiveness... just pathetic. Dr. Son was very very nice - she speaks fluent Korean, too, which was a pleasant surprise. It was a nice treat for my mama who prefers to speak in Korean. The bill was also reasonable - THAT was the best part about it.. other vets in my area (Fort Lee) would've charged double, but I paid $200 for a full check up. Dr. Son also was very honest - she did not suggest, like other clinics (Fort Lee Animal Clinic, pay attention and learn), to get treatments or more check ups that may be more invasive without results. i truly appreciated that honesty, and would come back just for Dr. Son. I'll update my review the next time I come in (knock on wood that it's not for anything other than a general check up!) - I'm hoping the receptionist/nurse has learned to be a bit more attentive. We came to Dumont based on recommendation. So we took our little English Bulldog here for the past 7 months for everything, vaccines, treatments and regular check up. Although it's a 50 minutes drive for us, we think it's worth it. We never specifically ask for any vet when we came and every vet so far we had has been great. Always very patient with us and with our puppy, and our puppy is very comfortable to come here each time. The waiting time has always been very minimum, I have no idea on price range comparing to other animal hospital, because this is the only place we know. Read Less

Dr. Diggle is amazing! When my Butterscotch's eyelids started to swell and turn inwards I took her to the Ridgewood animal hospital. They looked at her only a few moments before telling me she needed surgery that would cost $3500! Then my co-workers told me about Dr. Diggle. With their great reviews I made an appointment to see him right away. He took his time examining her and talked us through everything. He then told us that she didn't need surgery, it was just allergies! So he prescribed some antibiotics and topical ointment and sent us on our way with a follow up planned. Two weeks later and her condition is all cleared up, her eyes opened wide and bright! There was a small bump though on the corner of one of her lids, which could have been a tumor or an abscess. Dr. Diggle preformed a blood test to see if she could be put under for surgery (she is considered a senior dog at 9yrs.) and once we were given the okay we set up a surgery removal date, and he even bundled in a tooth cleaning and the removal of a few skin tags. The who thing including the post op antibiotics was about $800. Plus the other medications the total I paid was around $1000. The prices are amazingly cheap for all the procedures and medications needed. But the best part was the kindness of the staff and the time Dr. Diggle took to see us and answer all of our questions. They even let me have a few minutes with Butterscotch for pre-op hugs and kisses, assuring me that she would be okay. He is the best vet I have been to, and I will continue to take Butterscotch there whenever needed. Read Less

My furry daughter (6 1/2 years old) never had health issue before so I have been taking her to Banfield for annual vaccines and blood tests.  But there was NO WAY to get an appointment with Banfield today or next few weeks, when my little girl was not acting right, sad and wasn't drinking fluid, I wanted her to see a doctor TODAY.  After I read positive reviews, I called this place and explained situation of my little one.  She was able to see doctor two hours later (lucky me).    Doctor listened to me, double check and asked me questions to make sure doctor has all details and examined her.  After treatment, she slept few more hours then she was waggling her tail asking for her favorite treat...almost back to herself.   We were very pleased with experience there.  Thanks! I had to put my Russian Blue of 17 years down recently. It was my first visit to Dumont Animal Hospital and the staff could not have been more professional and compassionate towards my situation. Dr. Son was my vet and she was very patient and kind.  She explained the procedure and allowed me time alone for a proper goodbye. One of the vet techs saw how broken up I was about it and shared her experience putting her own dog down. A few days later I received a sympathy card from Dr. Diggle even though I didn't meet him that day.I would not hesitate to use them again.  I have two dogs and I am sure I will be back in the future.  This is clearly a practice that cares about the animals and their owners first. I observed the other pets and the staff was just as wonderful with them. The pricing for services was very reasonable too.8/27 UpdateI noticed my corgi had a broken molar when I went to brush her teeth the other day. They gave me an appointment right away and keep in mind, this place is always busy. This comes back to the devotion they have towards the animals. Like many people I was stressed, stressed Bella was in pain, stressed at the size of the bill potentially. The staff could not have been more helpful. They provided me with an estimate for everything. They combined things together to save money and time. For example, Bella was due for an annual exam in October and yearly vaccinations. They did it all today on the spot which saves me cost of the office visit in October not to mention the time spent on making another trip. It turns out Bella has to come back to get her tooth extracted. This was completely my decision. They will again roll procedures together while she is under anesthesia since anesthesia is the most expensive part. They even offered to do her nails while she was under (she's a psycho when she gets this done normally).  This was not a cheap day but for everything that I was able to accomplish, and how much I saved overall, I was delighted.
