If your pet has medical issues frequently,  your experience may be finding no solutions and being charged a lot of money.When my dog had a bad reaction to pain medication they provided,  their solution was to prescribe expensive bloodwork and blame me for my dog getting sick. Dr. Pomerantz is actually the best vet we have ever used.  He is extremely knowledgeable and has always resolved our pets' issues on the first try.  The other doctors are also excellent and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. I woke up on a Saturday morning and my dog of 13 years couldn't walk. I thought it was over and in a really bad spot. The FLAH was really busy, but I explained myself and they let me bring him in early. Staff was very professional and the doctor was great. Ran a series of tests in order to diagnose. **This review is for the staff's hospitality before services**I'm amazed. Dr. Pomerantz called me tonight at 8:30 PM to check up on my cat and our family -- and we aren't even a patient/client of his! I inquired about nearby oncologists and he and his team warmly welcomed our records being emailed to them, and he actually reviewed them before he called to check in and tell me his thoughts. He expressed only genuine care, sensitivity over costs and what we're going through, and advised on the oncologist he recommends we go with based on our needs. And did I mention, this is not him trying to make a sale for his business at all! In fact, he recommended someone else that he would trust with his own cats, and wished us the best. This is after what was a very difficult, long, and emotional day of us calling oncologists trying to find one who actually showed care to help and begin chemo treatments for my cat. I'm sure many people reading this can relate to the heavy, emotional and financially stressful journey it is to care for our sick pets and trust their lives with people outside of our home. We never met Dr. Pomerantz before, but he is one genuine and kind doctor who is at the core, selfless and honest. I would happily give my hard-earned money to him and his team, and trust them to put their hearts into taking care of our animals as well as their skill. Hope this helps someone who may be struggling to find advice in the sea of vets/oncologists just hunting for a quick sale/commission and not taking the time to sensitively go through the steps with you. I cannot say enough about how considerate and kind the staff is at this veterinary hospital. I have been seeing Dr. Kozack for close to 10 years and she always greets me with a smile and a hug and she always knows the name of my dogs since I have had 4 at one time or another. If you like to suffer verbal abuse, rude treatment and questionable care for your pet then go to Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital.  I went in on Saturday to get my dogs records and was told they would have to give them to me on Monday.  I explained she had only been there twice and they did not care.  My wife went in to pick them on Monday at 1:30, she was told if we only requested on Saturday that was not enough time.  They explained to her that they had not completed there Morning work yet.  My wife told them again she had only been there twice and the person printed them off in less than a minute.  That front desk is the absolute most incompetent team of people I have ever experienced.  This coupled with a questionable procedure recommendation makes me happy I never have to enter this establishment again. While the care your pet gets may be great, I could not say it is extraordinary compared to other animal hospitals. What I can say is that the price that they charge is absolutely extraordinary! Went in with two dogs, one for a follow-up the other for ONE rabies vaccination and they charged me for TWO consults. Spent more time checking out then we did with the dr even after a double "professional" charge. if you have new staff, make sure they have a mentor, don't leave them on their own. No warmth, no compassion no understanding that we are working folks trying to provide care for our pets with out going bankrupt. After many years it is sadly, time to find some where else to go. I was recommended by two coworkers and they told me my 30 min drive would be worth it, and let me tell you, it definitely was. They are one of the few places that deal in wildlife and are a God send. A chipmunk had fallen in a pool full of chemicals after being newly opened for summer. I found the poor thing after who knows how long and immediately rinsed him in bottled water and wrapped him in a towel and called them. They were so quick to help and I'm so grateful for feeling reassured that the little guy would make it. He soon calmed down, let me continue to bathe him in clean water and dried off a bit in the towel and sun  before returning to chipmunk self and running off. #happyheart. Thanks FLAH! Best Animal Hospital around!  Dr. Onesios is so wonderful!  She listen and cares about your so loved pets!  We have been apart of this animal hospital for over 20 years! They have loved and cared so much for all of our pets! Their diagnosis has been so accurate and remedies so helpful. Unfortunately we recently had to put our dog down but they allowed us to stay with her for such a long time until we were ready. They care about the  animals and the people! 100% recommend them! I have been trusting Franklin Lakes animal hospital for over 10 years to care for my dog. He was diagnosed recently with bladder stones. He had this previously and I knew that I had to make a timely decision as to how to proceed (either surgery or putting him down). I chose surgery, but was told I would have to wait 11 to 15 days for an appointment because they were soooooo busy with Doggie Dental month and had no time to do the surgery. I can't even wrap my head around this! I called another local hospital and they were accommodating and the Dr. worked late to do the surgery. The other thing I noticed is that the staff was friendly, warm and compassionate.....not something I've been feeling at your place! My dog was also much calmer and different with the technicians and the Doctor. Sorry, when dental month trumps a sick dog, something is wrong!! Read Less

I brought in a squirrel that's was paralyzed in its back legs. It tried climbing a tree about six feet up only by using its front legs but it fell. So I thought to try to give he/she a chance maybe to got to a sanctuary. The staff (front desk lady) was not very friendly. My dogs (and a few fosters) have been cared for at FLAH for 8 years and I've had nothing but positive experiences. One of my dogs is medically complicated and they've provided very thoughtful conservative care of him. I've seen all of the vets here over the years and primarily see Dr. Pomerantz now. Very surprised reading some of the negative reviews. We switched to here a few months ago and have had a wonderful experience so far. We bring my dog Holly here monthly as she needs a shot for her Addison's. They are very accommodating with making appointments and are very reasonable with their price. Awful! Far cry from the wonderful, caring place it was when Cheryl Welch opened. Unfriendly staff, dishonest, rip-off. They DROPPED a friend's dog during a routine surgery and left her paralyzed. They refused to explain their error and what exactly occurred. They botched my dog's eye surgery; another routine surgery they promised they were qualified and comfortable to perform while claiming a specialist would charge more. Ended up at the specialist anyway to correct FLAH's mistakes. They offer pet sitting services - BEWARE!!!! Their vet tech almost killed my sister's dog while my family was away for a wedding. Half of the family had to miss the wedding and come home because we were told the dog was not going to live through the night. A week in Oradell animal hospital, surgery and a $14,000 bill later, she is alive but has never been the same. They charged me $82 for a small bag of supplements for my dog when they should have charged $55. When I called to point out their error they refused to correct the overcharge and I am now in the process of going through disputing it with my bank. This place has turned into an absolute disgrace. Please, if you care for your pets well-being, DO NOT bring them here. Plenty of other honest, reasonably priced, qualified vets in the area. Read Less

We took our beloved lovebird to this place a few days ago and the aviary vet (Onesios) assured us that although our bird looked sick he was really okay (just a change of diet and that should be it - did not prescribe any medications). The very next day our lovebird died. The immense amount of anger and confusion we felt towards this irresposible hospital & their misdiagnosis is something we will never forgive.To make matters worse, the negligence has yet to be recognized. We were promised a call back and have yet to hear from the doctor or her staff, they are much too "busy" for that. We brought our 14yr old girl in at 5pm yesterday because she was in terrible respiratory distress and had a tumor in her lung (a secondary cancer). Our regular vet was closed. Franklin lakes animal hospitalIf I could give no stars to write this review I would. Granted, Donna and the vet techs are genuine and awesome. Do not Do NOT bring your loved ones to this horror show. Let me preface this review by saying I am a dentist. We brought a 14 year old cat,( my brother's), who couldn't walk without wobbling, hadn't eastern or drank in days, and was clearly dying, in for euthanasia. The tech recommended a cbc and blood chemistry panel. I refused the chem panel as it was clearly not necessary. My brother was distraught but agreed as well. They proceeded to do the chem panel as well as a urinalysis that we never authorized. The vet, Sharon Greenhutt, announced that the cat has a very poor prognosis and recommend euthanasia...surprise. We said our goodbyes, my brother crying the whole time. After sedation, the vet proceeded to begin administering the fatal injection. While standing right next to her, I realized she was not in a blood vessel, I told her but she totally ignored me. The tech acknowledged my observation but Dr. Greenhutt continued injecting. After several moments she checked for a heartbeat...low a behold, the cat was still alive. My brother was horrified and I was angry. After a lame excuse she chose another site, 'appropriately' placed another dose and accomplished the procedure. I was charged for procedures we clearly refused and had to endure watching our cat be euthanized twice. They vet was oh so genuine the whole time, except for the deceit, apparent lack of experience, and incompetence.Now April 2, FLAH promised to refund a portion of the unauthorized charges several days after the appointment in early Feb. I cancelled my credit card dispute and to this day 2 months later, I have yet to receive my refund. Not only do they preform unauthorized procedures, sneak in extra fees all while you are grieving the loss of you beloved pet, but they lie to pacify you and do not make good on their promises. They are very, very bad and insensitive people and should be avoided at all cost. Read Less

I have been taking my pets to Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital for close to 10 years. The doctors and staff are always friendly and very helpful. My pets have been seen by many of their doctors and although they are all great, I ended up with a few favorites including Drs. Pomerantz, Kozak, Rodriguez and others no longer there. My experience is that this practice takes extra steps to make your pet's care a personal and caring experience. Read Less
