I genuinely wish my pup Tucker had received the care he deserved when we visited Red Bank Hillsborough and Dr. Andrew Reicherter on 01/25 and 01/27. The vet ‘missed’ a tumor in Tucker’s mouth, nearly the size of a ping pong ball. I subsequently took Tucker to BluePearl Levittown who alerted us to the growth. Tucker was euthanized 02/06. Read Less

Our sheltie Max had broken through a fatty tissued area on his leg, leaving it bloody and exposed. We had taken him to our local vets who had noted the area could be cancerous, and they highly recommended Red Bank Veterinary Hospital at Hillsborough for diagnostic and surgical options. From first entering the hospital throughout the high-end care given, we were put at ease. Staff was exceedingly responsive behind the desk, and every one: technician, doctor and pharmacist, was pleasant, welcoming and informative. Our surgeon, Dr. Stagier's extensive medical knowledge and his thoroughness in providing the diagnostic information was impressive. His explanations as to the best options to handle our sweet Max's condition incorporated our thoughts and concerns. We had an A+ team from the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and technicians to the admissions staff. Max is our 15 year old fellow who is recovering nicely. Thank You All! I bought my miniature poodle in to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, as she was acting lethargic and severe stomach distress. This visit was a total nightmare!! When Amy Zahn examined her she said she was definitely intoxicated. She asked if I had any drugs in my house. I told her i do have medical marijuana and ativan but i don't see how my dog could've gotten into them. She was absolutely sure that this was somehow drug or alcohol related and really made me feel like i did this to my pet. I told her that Mia had a history of pancreatitis and she acted similar when she had that as she did that evening. She said that is not how she would act if it were pancreatitis. She keep insisting it was drug induced. She was very uncaring and accusatory. After doing bloodwork her LIPA levels were high which would indicate pancreatitis, still she said no that may be from the drugs affecting her pancreas. She also made sure to include in Mia's report that I had Ativan and medical marijuana in the house! She was one hundred percent blaming/shaming me for my pets illness. I just wanted to leave and have her give my pet fluid under her skin. Upon checking out, I was charged almost 500 and it was 3 days after Christmas, I didn't have payment on me. When I told the receptionist this, she was new and very nice, she wasn't sure what to do so she went into the back to ask. A few minutes later Amy Zahn and another woman came out and Amy Zahn was out of control. She stated I could not leave without paying, that they would get in trouble if I left without paying, I had to pay. When I told her I didn't have payment on me, she looked at the person I had with me, my son, and said well does your friend have any money? Then she said I absolutely need to call with payment when i got home and if i needed to call and borrow the money from someone, then I needed to do that. I said its 1 o'clock in the morning and she didn't care. She was literally bullying me to pay. She also said if I didn't have the money why did I agree to the $250 blood work. I said, did you want my pet to die because I didn't have payment on me? She said nothing. All she said was, you need to call with payment when you get home. She also had the nerve to call my home twice, 15 minutes after I left to collect payment. I kid you not, I've never seen a more unprofessional attitude in my life!!! I was so tired from worry of my pet and it was 1am. I suffer from ptsd and was put in such a state of panic from her attitude. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY!!! And btw, my vet looked at the blood test results and report and said it indeed was pancreatitis. My vet also said it was definitely not from ativan or medical marijuana! Misdiagnosed as well!! RUDE, UNCARING, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNEDUCATED. Read Less

Took my pup here after she was attacked at a dog park. Dr. Steiger took such good care of Blair. He called after surgery to report surgery went well and that Blair was up and doing well. Dr. Steiger met me during pick up after surgery to explain the procedure performed and to answer any questions I may have. Dr. Steiger explained how my pup did during/after surgery and discharge care. We've had to go back weekly because Blair has not fully healed and each time Dr. Steiger has made it a point to come out to discuss Blair's progress with me. Hopefully, I don't have to return to RBH anytime soon but should an emergency arise, it's where I'll take my pup. Thank you Dr. Steiger and RBVH for taking such good care of my pup! Read Less

This is the average between my two experiences here- I took my 4.5 month old greyhound after he broke his leg on Saturday, my vet had called ahead so when I walked in the door someone was there to take him from me for triage. Everyone I interacted with was wonderful, by the time I left him there to get his leg operated on and set, I felt very comfortable. Later that night the surgeon called and explained everything that happened during surgery and what all the different possibilities for down the road looked like. He spent plenty of time with me even though it was late, I didn't feel he was trying to rush me off the phone at all. I asked about visiting, while he told me of course I could he thought it might be better for my pup if I didn't so he wouldn't get himself worked up. I was ok with that so I brought down food and treats for the morning when he was feeling better and went home knowing that the vet who would be there Sunday would call me by 10 to give me an update. This is the second part of the average. I called at 8 on Sunday morning just to see how he did overnight, I talked to the vet tech she said the vet hadn't seen him yet, but he was eating and seemed to be doing well, she said I could call back in an hour if the vet hadn't called by then. I waited til 10 to call back and was told that the vet would give me a call soon to let me know if he could come home. No call- I called back at 1 and the receptionist checked and said I could pick him up. I drove down to get him, I assumed the vet would go over the discharge instructions for a 4.5 month old greyhound who just had surgery to put in a plate and pins the night before, that never happened. A vet tech came out and gave me the instructions the surgeon left the night before- she ran through them quickly in the waiting room in front of everyone sitting there waiting for their pet. It was awkward. My overall comments would be the front staff was great, the staff on Saturday was great- not sure who the vet was on Sunday, but she is the worst if she couldn't make time for a two minute phone call to a pet owner whose dog just went through pretty major surgery. If I could only give zero stars, I would have.  I have never been spoken to in my life by the receptionist that I called today. I asked to simply make an appointment for my 17 year old cat for a geriatric work up and the receptionist began to lecture me on the needs of vaccination for her.  I politely explained that my cat was 17 years old and not doing well and all I would like to have was a geriatric work up, but she continued to berate me about updating her vaccinations and she seemed very suspicious that I had not had my cat in the clinic for several years.  Obviously, I was doing something right, as my cat is seventeen years old!  The receptionist continued to be rude to me on the phone and eventually told me to go somewhere else.    All I wanted was to have my poor cat examined by a veterinarian in their facility.   They obviously do not care for your pets at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital.  Do not go there! I began taking my dog, Izzy, here, as a referral from my other vet.  Izzy had several medical issues and after thousands of dollars spent, and only a guess at what was wrong, my vet referred me to a surgeon at Red Bank.  The surgeon examined Izzy and told me that she did not need surgery.  He wanted me to see a specialist, Dr. Durocher, who was part of the practice at Red Bank. That was the best thing that ever happened to Izzy!  Dr. Durocher diagnosed her right away and began treating her. No surgery necessary!  I have never had a vet so responsive, caring, and attentive to my dog and to me!  Eventually, I transferred all vet services to Red Bank, and got to work with Dr. Pedro & Dr. Catti as well.  They too were attentive and caring.  The communication between the vets and the coordination of Izzy's care was amazing.  The staff at the front desk are also terrific!  In my many years of going here, not once did I have a bad experience.  Unfortunately, Izzy's diseases took their toll and I recently made the decision to put her down.  Again, the Dr's and staff went above and beyond to ensure that I was OK and treated me with the utmost compassion and care.  I would highly recommend this place to anyone searching for a vet.  They are simply the best at what they do! They want your money. They know you treat your pet as a family member and know that they can help you reach pretty far into your pockets in order to avoid the guilt and pain of not getting treatment for your animal when you could have. It's not even like you're getting top care. They diagnosed my Beagle with an ACL injury years ago and wanted $1500 for surgery. Another vet diagnosed him with Lyme -- after receiving medication he recovered.Years later, in a panic, we took that same Beagle again because he'd been throwing up and shaking. They gave him fluids and suggested that we hospitalize him for a few nights so they could monitor him at $1000 per night. They didn't know what was wrong with him. Another vet (the same vet as before) diagnosed him with cancer.More recently, we took our Beagle puppy (new addition to the family) over because he'd eaten a few pieces of gum. You'd think we would have learned our lesson but the panic-inducing information online suggests that after consuming gum with xylitol (artificial sweetener), your dog could be slipping into a coma in 15 minutes. I thought it was probably overblown but I tend to lean toward caution. $500 later, they suggested I hospitalize him for a few nights at $1k per night, and made us sign a waiver that we were going against their recommendation. Adding to that, the medication they sold us was 2x the price we could have gotten it for on Amazon, and 2x the quantity we actually needed. The dog literally never showed a single sign of illness.Go to Garden State vet hospital. I can not even explain how sad this is that this has happened!!!!! There is no less then 1 The place killed a cat that was brought in as a SAM (a Good Samaritan) it was a stray cat that had been around my home for the past months the and half. Very friend appeared to be a lost pet. We have 4 strays that we care for and this one joined in. After coming home from a vacation we discovered it had its face slashed ( as if it was caught in something like a tight fence or metal can) it was not bleeding and had begun healing at the time of discovery. We had been away for 3 weeks. Our pet sitter was feeding outside cats. So while feeding the cat it allowed me to pet it and touch his face. Again very friendly! We asked the SPCA if they did medical but they said go to red bank, we asked a local pet store they said red bank and on the way in we ran into a animal control officer and he said the animal would be fine. This cat was a sweet stray that we would have kept but thought the medical would be to much and after talking with all the people we felt that red bank would fix it up and it would be adopted out. Which would be better than a life outside in our yard. So we signed it in was told they would examine it and that it would be checked for chip. Again this cat was friendly sweet and easy. I was rethinking our decision to leave it so I called to find out about it 5 hours later. Only to be told it was put down!!!!!!!! Killed when I asked why they said it was not friendly and behaving agitated. It had rabies is what I was told. I said wrong cat that it was sweet and not an issue then they said the vet said the cat was lethargic and acting like it had rabies. I again said no way this cat was friendly and fine except it's face on both sides had the cuts. They then said they had the right since it was a SAM and that it was too late and done. This cat had not even meows in the car ride. He let me pet him and other dogs coming over smell Him in the carrier with no issue at all, no hissing, and no growling from the dogs. If he was sick the dogs would have smelled it and growled. Nothing sweet behaved tired injured cat. They killed it because no one was paying them to care for it!!!!!!! This place is all about the money and did not even take the time to talk with me to find out more about the cat. So sad to have made the mistake to trust them to care for the cat and get it adopted out.Read Less

I used to work here, and when I did I was always so impressed with the medical quality. It made me feel bad for truly sick animals that went to other hospitals that didn't have the luxury of having advanced diagnostic equipment and specialists present. Because of my experiences with the doctors and techs there, when it became evident that my 1 year old dog would need a neurological consult, I immediately knew exactly where I was going to take her. She went to see Dr. Glass, got an MRI, and thankfully it turned out to be something she was born with and can live with just fine. I do take her for her annuals someplace a bit closer to home (since RBVH is a hike for me), but if she ever needs a specialist or we have an emergency, she will always end up here. Read Less

I've used both the Linwood facility for late at night emergencies, and we have been to Tinton Falls 5 times over the past 6 years to see Dr. Glass, the neurologist. One time was to help my cat, and 4 of those 5 times was to help my dog, who suffers from IVDD, a terrible disk disease that can paralyze and is very painful. This last time, Dr. Glass was able to perform surgery on my boy and help take away the pain from a ruptured disk in his cervical spine. It's only 5 days post-op, but he's already walking and comfortable. Dr. Glass went above and beyond to help my Frenchie, and not just for the MRI and surgery. Cooper, our 13 year old German Shorthaired Pointer mix that looked more like a Chocolate Lab was a patient here. We are fortunate that we had minimal veterinarian appointments in 13 years as Cooper was a very healthy dog. It was in Cooper's last days that showed us how much Dr. Mary Beth Morgan cared about Cooper, her patient and us, his family. We knew it was time, but needed to get his sisters home from College and Dr. Morgan worked with us and revamped her schedule to fit the small window we had with our daughters home. We knew Cooper would be uncomfortable and out of sorts with a car ride to the hospital and we didn't want his final moments to be in the hospital. Dr. Morgan and one of her team members came to us. We were able to be with him in our home and give him the love and respect he had given us for 13 years. Dr. Morgan explained everything and put us at ease, as much as she could during this difficult time for our family. Cooper left this world with us by his side and with the dignity he so deserved. When Dr. Morgan had pulled up to our house earlier, we noticed her car was one that we used to have and how Cooper loved to stand in the back seat with his front legs on the console so he could stick his head out the sun roof. Before Dr. Morgan drove away with Cooper, she opened the sun roof. Just one more thoughtful gesture that made us smile through the heart ache. Thank you Dr. Morgan. You truly care about your patients and families. Jane, Charlie, Reilly and ReidRead Less

My husband brought our Siberian Husky to Hillsborough branch in April of 2016 because we noticed a lump on our dogs face. The doctor squeezed it and tested the fluid to make sure it wasnt cancerous. She assured us it was just a harmless sebaceous cyst. Said it wasnt necessary to remove it but just to keep it clean. We started to put a cone on tge dog to kerp her from scratching it .we gave her the antibiotics and tried several holistic treaments but it wasnt clearing up. We checked internet all things regarding sebaceous cysts agreed it was difficult to treat because they ooze. For 6 months we cleaned it wrapped it ,hoping to see a change but the dog was getting weaker and weaker. She started to have difficulty coming up steps we thought it was because she is 12. Finally today she could no longer walk.we rushed her to Red Bank Hospital in Tinton Falls only to find out .it was cancerous and had spread to her other organs. We had to put her to sleep today. So sad that that Doctor made a mistake and caused us to loose our dog and caused her much suffering. Id think twice before going there with my animals. It was so sad to see my dog suffer slowly misdiagnosed. We trusted the Veterinarian .Never again. We are devastated by the outcome today. We thought they would remove the cyst and send her home to live a happy healthy life but instead our entire family was devastated to have to say goodbye because of the misdiagnosis we received from Red Bank. I dont understand the negligence ..How could she have tested the fluid and say it was negative when it was cancerous..Did she even test it? And just charged us for it ..Thats heartless. We are all so confused how could this have happened. Please be careful get a second opinion on anything they say. Give your pet the chance our dog didnt have. Read Less

We rush our dog Cooper to Red Bank on 8/21, because he was vomiting everywhere (we were on vacation). I called ahead to tell them what was happening. We didn't have to wait long, Dr Backel was excellent with Cooper and explain what was going on and what was needed to take place and my options. We had to leave Cooper there for a couple of days, when I called I was given update information and how he was holding up and they called me as well. When I went to pick him up I first met with the nutritionist to discuss Cooper being over weight, she was great and very informative. I have already spoken to her several times since he came home. Dr. Davis released Cooper and asked if I understood his condition and if I had any problems to bring him in. I have received calls from the hospital since he left checking on him Read Less

When my dog was sick at 3am on a Sunday night I took her to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. They did a great job treating her. I am so glad this hospital is open 24 hours and does an exceptional job. It was a very easy and pleasant experience working with this hospital. They have a good sense of the right amount of care. Other vets I've been to want to do too much testing and cost you a ton of money and some don't do enough investigation. My dog saw Dr. Vanderhoof, who was on call that night, he recommended doing blood work and then gave treatment. I felt he recommended the most effective testing and treatment plan for my pup. He gave the option to do more or less testing and treatment based on my wishes. He took a thorough history, and made sure he really understood the situation. He asked a lot of questions and did an exam. He answered all of my questions and gave great instructions for care. The hospital even followed up with me a day later to see how my dog was doing. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my dog here again.

Dr. Trotter has been our vet for over 9 years. It is so obvious how much he loves animals and treats each patient as if they were his own pet. Wed, our Labrador, Harry had surgery to remove a mass on his side. Worried about his age and the effects of anesthesia and his recovery, Dr. Trotter put us at ease and we knew he was in the best and most capable hands. Surgery went well, biopsy was benign and Harry is home recovering. It is a blessing to have such a wonderful facility nearby and to have a vet like Dr. Trotter and his tech Joann. Read Less

Dr. Chilino is my dogs general Dr. Last night I had to rush Khloe in at 10pm. She jumped off the deck and came up limping. Not a long wait to see Dr. Gallagher. She was very informative and took her time to explain all the options. I was very upset but she was very calming. They really do care about your pet and you. They are more expensive than other places but where can you go when you need to go to the emergency room at 10pm. My family member is worth what it takes. They never push. Read Less

Read Less

I just want to say I have never seen such compassion. When our beloved 5 year young rottweiler Max was brought in on emergency basis unable to stand or walk for cat scan they treated him with dignity and care like he was their own... When we found out he had cancer on his spine the Dr was straight up forward with us and didn't try to sell us a surgery and give us false hope. With his guidance, we made the difficult snd devastating decision of putting him down. I can't say enough how professional, courteous, and compassionate they all were. We received our baby boys paw ink print as promised a few days later and yesterday a really nice pet sympathy card came with a notice inside that a donation was made on his name to Save US Pets Foundation. I cannot say enough good things about their neurology department. Even the front desk staff was amazingly nice and helpful. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is they are expensive, and their answering service is rude.Read Less

We had to rush our Rottweiler here at midnight due to him having a sudden onset of abdominal distension. Unfortunately due to a malignant tumor on his spleen that caused massive internal bleeding and was fully unaware of even after just having a check up recently at our regular veterinary office( no fault of theirs due to how it was growing) our gentle giant crossed the rainbow bridge. Upon arrival the staff even at that hour was extremely urgent in their care and all efforts towards medical treatment. The staff was very sympathetic and genuine towards our baby as well as our needs, they stayed with me while making the rainbow bridge transition for him.

Read Less
