I started taking my pets here after Dr. Krish's office closed for an extended period after the fire. It's a lot more expensive, but my pets were happy and it is a few blocks away. I felt the care was exceptional. Just a few of my receipts: $1,919.02, $282.65. $587.53, $405.82, $521.62 .... I have piles. I've literally spent thousands of dollars here. Plus for the past year monthly meds for a pet with cancer, blood work, check-ups, X-ray, sonogram, urine checks etc. Expensive surgery and after-care for another pet. Ear infection for the dog. Emergency visit for another cat. I love my pets and don't begrudge spending money to keep them healthy, happy and safe. I've recommended them to a lot of other people and know that they have gone there because of it. Yesterday I took my cat with cancer in for his monthly check-up, medication refill and his regular blood work. Since Jersey City discontinued free rabies shots in the park for cats this year (for dogs only now), I asked what the price would be for cats. $132 x 3 for the 5 in 1 shot. I have 3 cats, and in my experience it's common for vets to offer a discount for multiple pets on things like routine shots, I asked if they offered this. I was told they give 10% off, but all 3 had to be brought in at the same time. I had one cat there already and since it was a Holiday weekend, I was literally the only pet/person there. So I asked again if I really had to bring that cat back home, pick up the other two and bring all three back. Yes. Did I mention how hot it was outside and that I don't have a car? This is unreasonable, but since I am not made of money, 10% off the $396.00 for the shots is $39.60 and I just spent $257.88 so every little bit helps.OK, so I pay my $257.88 bill for cat #1 and head home with cat #1 to pick up cat #2 & cat #3. I have a pet stroller from British Columbia (you may have seen me walking around the Heights with it, it's green & yellow). It wasn't cheap. $250 plus $145 shipping. Add on the taxes and it came to $450.00. I don't drive, so it's how I get cancer cat #1 to his vet visits. He hates cat carriers and will literally piss all over when he gets in one, but he loves his stroller. Cats 2 & 3 aren't much better, but they love the stroller. I can get them anywhere they need to go in that thing. Air filled rubber wheels, rear suspension, safety lights, rain cover, memory foam padding, 360 degree maneuverability. I was on a waiting list for months to get mine. It's the Rolls Royce of pet strollers. It's a no-hassle way to get them around. To get all 3 to the vet at once, clearly they all had to go in the stroller at once. Previously I had taken them 1 or 2 at a time, never all 3. They were under the weight limit, get along and it was only a few blocks. Since HVA told me they HAD to be brought in together to get the 10% off, I put them in together. While I was locking my front door, all Hell broke loose. The fabric cover on my stroller got a 8" rip where the back mesh window attaches when cat #2 decided to claw his way out. It's shredded. There is no way to repair it as the cover is put on before assembly of the stroller is completed. I now have to buy another one ... and it is on back order and it's not like I can afford to drop that kind of money. This stroller is meant to last the life of your pets. This would not have happened if HVA did not absurdly insist that I take cat #1 home and bring all three back together in order to give me such a small price break when I was clearly spending an absolute fortune in their office, adding in the fact that I was clearly transporting them by stroller and it was hotter than Hell outside. Great way to treat such a good customer, make that FORMER customer.I was so pissed off I took a photo of the giant rip in my stroller and went back and asked to speak with Dr. Williams, told her what happened and showed her the photo. She told me that she would have done cat #1 while he was there and I could have brought him home and just brought cats 2 & 3 in by themselves if she had known. Then she said that she felt that cat #1 was so sick she felt he he didn't really need shots, but to get the others and she would get their shots done, but I would be charged. Um, No.Basically I am now out $450 for a new stroller because the receptionist wasn't able to say "I can see it is unreasonable to expect you to bring home the cat that is already here, pick up your other two cats, stuff all three in the stroller and haul them back in this heat. You're a really good customer. How about you pay for the shots right now, we will give you the 10% off and you can bring cat #1 back home and come back with the other two in 15 minutes. ok?" I am royally pissed over this and I have spent so much money there it isn't funny. To make things even worse, the cat that freaked keeps attacking the other two unprovoked since the incident.
