Staff are compassionate and friendly. The doctors and nurses are attentive and thorough. I specially loved the card they sent with my furbaby's pawprint. Where do I begin on how great this practice is? Everything is phenomenal from scheduling (even emergency/last minute) appointments, to the reception, to the techs, and to the doctors. They do not charge you for every little thing like some places will. This isn’t a “business”, it’s a place that cares about your pet(s) just as much as you do, and their entire staff reflects that. We have been shopping around for vets for a while, our last vet was extremely expensive and the other was just too far and didn't provide the best service. We stumbled upon Chews Landing by accident because we had an emergency with our dog. ( He had a growth on his leg that started oozing) They took us in the same day no questions asked. They talked about the options on what we could do. Our previous vet already talked to us about removing it and quoting us thousands of dollars. We simply couldn't afford it at the time and since the growth wasn't a bother at the time, we decided to wait and save. Fast forward to now, and we couldn't wait any longer. Preparing for the massive vet bill, preparing to charge thousands for Mash's surgery, only to be quoted more than half the cost of what the previous vet quoted. It was something affordable right than and there. We scheduled for surgery the next week. Our poor Mash is still recovering, but doing well. All thanks to this Amazing Veterinary Hospital for making my vets not only affordable, but desirable.The staff have been absolutely amazing to our family. I just wish we found them sooner. Sadly we had to put our dog to sleep last Thursday. The way the staff and the doctor treated us and our boy was beyond amazing!! Chews landing Veterinary couldn't be better.  We really appreciated the conservative approach for our elderly dog because we knew he was near the end of his life and we didn't want to put him through an ordeal.  We weren't pushed into getting lab work or other tests for him, but we did want to make his end-of-life as comfortable as possible, so we chose what we felt would be best, based on careful considerations provided by three of the vets there..  And when the time came for euthanizing him, these dear people had a soft comforter ready for him to lie on, treated him and us with such kindness, and even sent a sympathy card with his paw print inside - the sweetest gesture.  In many years of dog ownership and dealing with vets, we've never experienced such thoughtfulness.  We're very grateful to have found them, and to be able to bring our handsome, happy newcomer to our friends at Chews Landing Veterinary. I recently took my animal here for a second opinion after reading all of the wonderful reviews. I will never ever bring my animal back! Beautiful place but, the Dr. who saw my animal had zero compassion and without knowing any background history on my cat ( didn't even ask me anything! ) told me that he is basically going to die and most likely very soon...He was going by what he was seeing from the blood test results...Keep in mind, this is the same blood work that 4 different Vets from another hospital saw as well, who all conqured and told me a completely different outcome...I guess getting a second opinion is not always a good thing... I know my animal is sick but, how can 4 Vets say one thing and they know my animal rather well and this Dr. who knows nothing about him have such a negative response? I'm sorry but, even if this Dr. is 100% right, where is the compassion? He could have cared less that I was so upset and just kept repeating to me that he is old..At the end of the visit he didn't even wish me luck with my animal...I know that some Doctors like to prepare for the worst outcome and I can completely respect that however, the way this Vet acted not only towards my cat but, to me was very upsetting...I hope he never has to feel what it is like to have a doctor have zero compassion and be so cold hearted. We have been taking our dogs here and we have never been disappointed!! They are allays patient and very through. We just recently adopted a kitten and, of course, we took him to see the dr's! Everyone at the frontdesk was pleasant and very helpful. All the techs were attentive and reassuring. They were able to see me without a scheduled appointment due to an emergency with my cat Jasmine. They whisked her away as I walked in and started working on her. I was so grateful for that as I was very worried about her. The veterinarian was so knowledgeable and caring and answered all the my questions. He had actual concern for my animal that was visible, that is something that I want in a vet. I took my Schnauzer into the office last Wednesday because he wasn't feeling well. Dr. took blood on Wednesday morning. I finally got a call back with the results the following Wednesday- only because I called to see what was taking so long. I had to let my dog go on Sunday at the Emergency Vet - he had kidney failure. Maybe there was something they could have given him prior to that, but we will never no. I recently adopted a 9 year old rescue pup. I asked a few friends who they use for Vet services and the overwhelming majority suggested Chews Landing Vet. At our first wellness visit we were greeted by very friendly front desk staff, a Vet tech that quickly gained my 9 year olds trust and Dr. Faulls who actually sat on the floor with my baby girl and treated her as if she was her own. BEWARE!  I took my 5 year old Shih Tzu to Chews Landing Veterinary Hospital for a teeth cleaning consultation.  At the time of the visit, Dr. McWilliams (along with a technician) checked my dog's vitals and inspected his teeth. No X-Rays were given.  The doctor explained to me that my dog's teeth weren't bad and the minor cleaning would be nothing more than a slight tartar removal. There was never any indication of anything more than a simple clean.  I decided to schedule the procedure.The morning of my dog's cleaning, the technician went over the pre-surgical procedures that were suggested and told me that my dog would be done around 12 PM and to call around 3 PM to get an update on his procedure. As suggested, I called later that day and spoke to a receptionist.  She said that everything went well, but then cut our conversation short and said, "let me have you speak with Dr. McWilliams."  The doctor got on the phone and proceeded to tell me that while my dog was under anesthesia, he went ahead and extracted 6 of my dog's teeth...WITHOUT my permission! To be very clear, this extraction was done without my consent or knowledge of.  Not once, whether it was during the initial consultation or during the time I dropped my dog off the morning of the surgery, was there any indication of a potential tooth extraction.  The day of the surgery, no one contacted me to apprise me of the situation, nor did they ask my permission to proceed.I immediately went to the hospital to get my dog and speak to the doctor.  Upon my arrival, I waited for Dr. McWilliams.  He eventually entered the room and kept APOLOGIZING for what he did.  I asked that the doctor write a formal letter explaining the incident, and after reading it, there were untrue and completely inaccurate statements in the letter.While still at Chews Landing Hospital, I received the invoice for the surgery.  The final total ultimately turned out to be more than twice as much as the original estimate (a case of "bait and switch", especially when you have no control over what they ultimately did).  Ironically, the hospital decided that they would WAIVE THE FEE for the tooth extractions.I'm completely confused and upset as to why my dog was violated, and had to endure unnecessary pain.  I am my dog's voice and the person he relies upon day in and out.  As his protector, I was stripped of that right by Dr. McWilliams and the rest of the staff.  I never gave this hospital authorization to pull my dog's teeth without my consent. Common courtesy would have been to pick up a phone and call me.  If I had known that's how they conducted business, I would have never moved forward with their services!As someone who had to go through a situation like this, I want the public to be informed.  I would never want anyone else to have to go through what I did.  Do yourself and your animal a favor and STAY AWAY!!! I love this vet! I adopted a 5-7 year old cat from a shelter two years ago and she always had litter box problems. It was behavioral, but every vet I took her too made me run expensive tests. I'd go to a vet and spend $100-300 trying to find the problem. I decided to switch vets and went to Chews Landing Veterinary Hospital. ONE visit. That's all it took. They put my kitty on anxiety meds and it has completely transformed my cat. She uses her littler box, is happy, and wants to cuddle. I'm so happy with this office. My first experience w/ CL Vet was last night.  I spoke w/ Elizabeth at the front desk earlier that day and she squeezed me in (they were really busy and overbooked).  I'm so glad I switched vets, per many Facebook recommendations.  The staff - ALL - were friendly, concerned and informative.The doctor was very nice and had an assistant w/ him, even though my 9 lb.  'squeak dog' is so sweet.  As they told me, I got a call today - from the doc himself - about our Jack's urine test results (he was peeing BLOOD) and am picking up his meds tonight - he has some inflammation.  The waiting area was bright, clean and had cute little things to buy like tee shirts and compact mini poopie bags in dog shaped holders.  We definitely found ourselves a new vet :) Read Less

I have been going to Chews for the past year.  My oldest dog is 11 and switched to this office.  The staff is very polite and Dr. Rubincam is the best!!  Both my dogs seem very relaxed with him and the vet techs.  My problem with my other vet was they always tried to get me to use unnecessary vitamins/powders for my dogs.  I find that is not the case with Chews Landing.  They really care for your pets and want what is best for them.  They are extremely reasonable and I highly recommend taking your pets to see them. Before dr Greco retired he saw our cat ,he needed to be catheterization and brought him in on a Friday and was told to pick up on Saturday am. I got a call Saturday before picking the cat up  and was told he took the Cather out and was running all over the office so pick him up and take him to the meg clinic in mt laurel which is a $200 deposit,i told them no cause I already paid you $300 and you did not do the job the cat should have had a protection collar and locked in the crate like they are suppose to. The up front thought it was funny till I complained and told her I was bringing the cat back on Monday am and they will take care of him. After picking  the cat up they were very quite and quick to get me out of the office.a few months later I brought the cat in for a check up and Greco said your cat needs to be on  special food, I said you  treated the cat for the surgery and I have been buying the cat food here since.He then said I never treated your cat, I said lift the page in his chart and read it, when he saw that he has been treating the cat ,he picked up the chart and threw it across the room and walked out,right away the teck came in and apoligized said he has been a little flippy lately , he then came back and continued to finish the cat. The teck also said a lot of people have been complaining about him. I had the absolute WORST experience here. I brought my 8 month old puppy to see Dr. Wineberg for a check up. This was her first official vet visit and we just wanted to get the shots that she still needed and a routine check-up of her ears and such to make sure she was okay. She also was very itchy and pulling the hair out of her hind legs due to how itchy she was so we also wanted them to look at her legs and hopefully give us a topical cream that would help subside her discomfort and give us an idea what the allergies might be from. Well, that's what we intended.I arrived 15 min. early as requested and filled out standard paperwork. The office seemed very cold and unwelcome- as if this is just strictly business and there is no true love for animals here. After waiting, my dog was weighed and guided into a small examination room. The nurse we had was a complete... ahem... "female dog". Not only did she try and pressure me into spaying my dog, which I was not only not interested in but also was not here for, after we strictly told her that we were not interested, she rolled her eyes and told us that if we didn't my dog would get breast cancer. My "No thank you" remained. She stormed out of the room. Five minutes later, she opened the door and tossed a packet at me about how my dog was going to get all of these cancers that would eventually lead to her death and said "here. Read up on what happens when you don't spay your dog" and walked away. Despite her extreme unprofessional behavior, I stayed because I was looking forward to seeing Dr. Wineberg because he is a family friend of ours. Unfortunately, I never saw him. Instead of Dr. Wineberg, we got Dr. McWilliams which was the absolute worst veterinarian and PERSON I have ever had the displeasure to meet. Funny enough, he isn't even listed on the damn website as a vet. He came in and we asked where Dr. Wineberg was and he ignorantly spat "You aren't getting him. You scheduled with me. /I'M THE DOCTOR/." He proceeded to not even check my dog's temperature, check her ear, or anything to check her health. He checked her heartbeat, but I knew that was normal because I listen to it all the time. After criticizing us about our dogs diet (which is fine I don't mind. Everyone has different opinions) he went to give my dog her shot. My dog was completely calm- she is not a violent dog once-so-ever. She loves making friends- but then he insisted we draw blood to check for heart worms. I said fine and he went to get the needles. Mind you, he never washed his hands once which I was not okay with. He pricked my dog not once, but twice, which instantly stressed out my dog. She was upset but still remained calm but it was obvious she was anxious and was eager to leave. He did not help us with her itching issue, just a discussion of what might be the cause. We then asked if her nails were too long because her nails are black and it can be hard to see where the quick was. They restrained the dog and he began to cut. Almost immediately, my dog began howling and salivating at the mouth as he cut nail after nail too short. He drew blood on at least three nails. For someone who "has 19 years experience", as said by him, why can't he even cut a single nail? He blamed my dog saying that there was blood not because he can't cut her nails, but because her blood pressure was high. Well I guess so when you hurt her! My blood pressure would be up too!  My dog left bandaged and very upset.As we left, we received heartworm mediciation along with tick mediciation because fleas and ticks love to hang out in our backyard. The receptionist told us that there was a promotion and that we were receiving 5 tubes of the flea/tick medicine for the price of 4. I went to sit down and she called me back and said "I have bad news...the promotion is over. Sorry!" and took the extra tube back. $200 later and I paid him to not only hurt my dog, but for a horrible experience for myself and my puppy! AVOID!! Read Less

There are 2 EXCEPTIONAL Drs. there, Moreno and Barrett.......That aside, i have become irritated with the gossip behind the counter, the lack of courtesy...I witnesssed a caller call about having their dog put to sleep, and the receptionist on duty, said please hold, ROLLED her eyes, then asked for a doctor to talk to the person.......I hate to know thats what happened when I CALLED to have my little guy put down!. I have to say..." TOOO MANY COOKS IN THE KITCHEN"....and a HUGE lack of respect from assistants at the desk. Read Less

I've been going here for about a year and half since I got my dog as a puppy.  I always see Dr. Barrett, whom I adore. I have never been treated the way the other reviewer said.  Everyone there just pours attention over my dog and every other animal I see.  They all clearly love animals.  They have always been patient with me, especially considering I usually bring a list of questions with me :).  I have had nothing but good experiences there (and I've been at least a dozen times for shots, illness, heart worm medication, ect.)  I don't have any experience with the other doctors, but I defiantly recommend Dr. Barrett.  And she is usually available on saturdays. We took our older cat here when we noticed he was engaging in some weird behaviors.  I wasn't overly impressed by the vet techs, I had to repeat myself several times when explaining what was wrong and they really didn't seem to love animals or have much interest in them.  It didn't get much better with the two vets who took a look at our cat.  They're tone to owners was condescending and they're bedside manner with the our cat was pretty generic.  You can't really fake a love for pets, especially when it appears like you're trying to rush through the appointment.  While I understand that it's difficult to diagnosis an animal (yes, I get it, they CAN'T talk, they said this to me several times), they completely disregarded my concerns.   After the first visit , we brought our cat home and he immediately developed a swollen eye and a lack of appetite.  After several days, I called the vet and they said to bring him back.  I expressed my concern for the eye (it was a different vet this time), and he said he couldn't really tell what was causing it.  It might even be a tumor or cancer of some sort (he said this to us like it was no big deal, I was horrified).  He gave us a script for an anti-biotic, not for the eye, but in case the cat had a virus of some sort that was causing the lack of appetite.  Several days later, my cat's eye is still swollen and he won't eat.  After doing some research online, it's pretty clear that my cat has conjunctivitis in his eye which can also cause the lack of appetite.  It's pretty ironic that I was able to diagnosis my cat, considering I don't have a vet degree.  The only way he could've gotten this is by being at the vet and if they did not use gloves, clean instruments, or proper handling techniques.  None of my other cats have this, so he did not pick it up from any of them.  I am furious.  Do not ever take your animal here.  I will be calling them first thing in the morning to complain and demand they pay for any additional care or medication for the conjunctivitis.   Also, they don't provide any type of payment assistance, like payment plans.  This was even after I pleaded my case that I was under contract to buy a home and wasn't able to max out my credit cards.  They had no sympathy.
