DO NOT GO HERE! Great vets and techs but horrible treatment of owners by staff! They do not explain the charges for the day until AFTER they add on and add on. I felt conned and swindled! Needed "boosters" for my dog which I was told to come back for after a "full" visit in March. Thought I paid during that visit, but was not aware "they changed their policy". After getting a $299 bill I was humiliated and called into the office when I said I was not expecting to pay anything but the $50 blood test I authorized for the day because I was under the impresssion that I paid in March for the boosters. I said I would drop a check off tomorrow and the front desk clerk HELD my credit card and tried to set me up on a "payment plan". She actually would NOT give me my credit card back until I got loud and insisted she return my card. Then the "office manager" took me into a room and CONTINUED to humiliate me for not paying my bill today or understanding that they "changed their policy". In the end she told the front desk woman to "give me my records" when I bring the check so I can take my dog elsewhere. Seriously, they came highly recommended and I know why, because of their animal staff, but they should be ashamed of their office manager and clerks! There are SO MANY OTHER VETERINARY CLINICS IN MONMOUTH COUNTY. You just lost my business and as many people as I can tell personally about how aweful you treated me today! Read Less

I have been taking my boys to LSAH for 14 years now. They are fabulous, professional, caring and kind from the check-in to the check-out. I love that the doctors work with you as the owner(parent) to understand exactly what is going on with your dog and educate you as how best to help them when needed. They listen to questions, concerns, and ideas that you may have and respect when you’ve made a decision. My boys enjoy their grooming with Lisa too! They actually get excited when they’re there. I really like the the Little Silver Animal Hospital.  Sweetie and I have been going here for about ten years. Since Sweetie is a very healthy furry baby, we haven't had to deal with any serious health issues (knock on wood), but if something serious did happen, I would trust Little Silver Veterinarians to properly explain the issue, provide me with our options and treat Sweetie accordingly.  I also like the way LSAH sends me emails, texts or postcards to remind me when various tests and shots are due. The staff are friendly, organized and caring people.  I would give my overall experience with Sweetie's care a solid "A".In terms of the boarding facilities, I personally have not had a perfect experience. There is definitely room for improvement.  I have friends that love the LSAH boarding facilities and friends that feel the boarding facilities are just so-so.  I agree with the latter. When the office is open and people are there to observe what is going on, I think the pets are well cared for.  Unfortunately, when the office is closed, some of the people tending to the pets are not very good at all. I hope it's just a case of one bad apple, but I had a few issues and then actually caught an employee lying to me about Sweetie's care and boarding facilities.  The person definitely was not working at that job because they love animals, it just seemed like a low paying, temporary job for them.  I stopped using the boarding facility after that.  As I said, there is definitely room for improvement.  One strong recommendation I have, is that the vets/owners of LSAH install cameras so they can observe the pets and employees who are at LSAH during the off hours. I give the boarding facility a solid "C".  I don't use the groomer, Lisa, so I can't comment on that part of the business.I hope my review is useful. Read Less

Pet Lovers Beware: This is a business, not a vet. If you love your pet and want the best for them this office is not for you. These fool hearted vets are disorganized, careless and are completely void of compassion. Doctor Scott Kilcullen was negligent and failed to go over important information noted on my puppies chart. When the issue came to light Doctor Scott took zero accountability and offered no apologies. Instead (his wife) Doctor Stacey Kilcullen called me. She was defensive of her husband, also offered no apologizes and as a bonus told me this was my fault as I signed off on the paperwork. I am not a vet. I brought my puppy to LSAH so a professional could give my puppy a health check. I asked Doctor Stacey if it is customary to go over paperwork with clients and she assured me that it was. When asked why I didn't receive this service she was unable to give an answer. When asked why the issue was never noted as resolved or even mentioned ever again in my puppies chart, no answer. The issue was initially noted prior to me getting my puppy by Doctor Yacowitz then never noted, brought up or listed as resolved -ever. This lack of continuity in the records (within their own office) tells me someone (everyone) overlooked it. After numerous attempts to rectify the situation I was finally told today by the disgruntled Yacowitz that if I had a problem to take it up with the board. The unwillingness to take accountability is an absolute disgrace. I am uncertain as to what legal rights I have. I will post updates here when I have more info. Hopefully this truth will inspire these vets to become more diligent. If you are a consumer and still opt to go here -do so with eyes open. Read Less

Doctors are knowledgeable, expensive care, staff are supportive. In all the years only one technician had attitude when questioning charges for rabies vaccination. I think we found a great vet for our dogs (3 yr old Affenpinscher / 6 yr old Corgi mix) after moving here from CA 2 yrs ago.  Everyone was friendly, patient, and explained things.  The office had a separate entrance door / room for dogs vs. cats and was calming and clean.  Aside from the doctor, several technicians were involved in our visit and all were great.  The front desk staff was also friendly.  We were afraid our dogs would be horrified and scared after a previous vet we had visited in the area a year ago.  After seeing good reviews about this place, we thought we'd give it a try and are happy we did.  The dogs did much better than we expected for the visit which included heartworm blood test, a distemper shot, and the normal exam.  Another thing we liked which did not happen at the previous vet we tried was that we were able to stay with the dogs through the whole visit.  They weren't "taken behind the woodshed" for their shots or bloodtest and they felt much safer seeing us there. I brought my dog in with a cough. I was told over the phone to bring Luke in to a specific entrance, as not to infect other animals. When I came in, we were quickly escorted into a room. I respect how careful they were regarding their other patients. Dr. Yankowitz was incredibly kind and caring to both Luke and me. He called me when results were in (turns out it's Luke's heart and he was not contagious). Dr. Yankowitz explained, in detail, what the results were from all tests and what I should be doing to take care of Luke and my other dog. Was the first visit to the animal hospital and not knowing what to expect. I was greeted by a friendly staff and it just got better.Met with Mathew a vet tech who did a good job prepping us on how the first visit would go. Very informative. LSAH is the absolute most wonderful veterinary hospital ever. I have 4 dogs and am actively involved n dog rescue. DRs Stacey and Scott Killcullen are my go to team. So today my mother in law took her bear coat shar pei to get evaluated for his shar pei fever. She was told that the office handles cases of shar pei fever and is knowledgeable of the disease. She drove 40 minutes to be treated unkindly by the Doctor and to be told she should go to a different Doctor. So basically she was lied to about them being knowledgeable and handling cases of shar pei fever and then charged $200. Unbelievable. Read Less

I couldn't have been more dissatisfied with Dr. YacowitzI did some research and based on what I found on line and my poodle'ssymptoms it seemed as if she was having problems with her trachea. At my appointment with Dr. Yacowitz I suggested what I thought it could be. He dismissed my input and then he insisted on an ex ray,blood work. He then suggested that it could be a cardio problem.Wanted to do an echocardiogram to the tune of $700.00. He then gives my dog 2 meds to take for a couple of weeks. Following my instinct,I took my poodle to a cardio specialist(who was excellent). The first thing that the cardio specialist did was ask me her symptoms.I described them and he felt her trachea.He looked at me and said guess what? It's her trachea.The other disturbing issue with Dr. Yacowitz is he totally missed the heart murmur. He saidhe thought he heard something. Funny because the specialist and yet another vet I took her to heard it right away. I then emailed Dr. Yacowitz with my compliant regarding his service and mistakes...he never responded. I feel that Dr. Yacowitz was inept and incompetent.I took my dog to another local vet,Bayshore Veterinary Hospital to establish a relationshipwith a new doctor since I would no longer go to Little Silver Hospital. And I'm very luckythat I did. When Dr. Yacowitz did the blood work,he told me her kidney functions were fine.I had mentioned to him of her increased thirst and urination. He said it's probably nothing.Well Dr. Moniello took the time to listen,really listen. She felt a urine culture should be preformed.Thankfully she did so as my poodle had a raging infection in her kidney that would not show ina regular urine analysis. Dr. Moniello said my poodles kidneys  would have shut down within a short period of time.Do yourself and your pet a favor..do not go to little silver animal hospital.It will not only cost you much more than you should pay,it cost your pets life. He offered extensive advice on raising a puppy as well. I have also used the boarding services here and was very pleased. Going here for regular check ups would probably be fine, expensive but fine. My dog had petellar surgery here back in September. The surgeon was a traveling surgeon so he was not there every day. That made it very difficult to make an appointment with him following my ddogs surgery. At one point I met with another vetenarian I was told would have all the same information the surgeon had. I made the appointment and left nearly in tears. My dog had been limping horribly after 4 weeks. (She was walking better after only two weeks of surgery) and he just dismissed me like nothing was wrong. He told me her knee was not in place (what did I pay $3000 for then). He refused to take an x Ray and told me just to wait for the surgeon. I finally spoke with the surgeon and he did make me feel better about the situation and that we would follow up a few weeks later. That was in October I'm still waiting for the front desk to call me back with an appointment. I called and gave them three specific dates and times I could meet knowing it was hard to get in touch with the surgeon. They called me back a week later with one date that I couldn't make. She told me she would call me back with additional dates, I am still waiting. Luckily my dog has been doing much better which is why I haven't called back again. Either way I will never go back considering the customer service aspect and how it was handled. Read Less

Had to have my dog's teeth cleaned and the price was insane. I didn't give them 3 stars because of the staff or Drs, I gave it to them because they are expensive. One day I walked in there and they had 5 woman (in scrubs) working behind the desk. Unfortunately, when you have that much overhead....someone has to pay for it...and it's typically the customers. Brought my dog there a couple times and on occasion felt a little pressure to have whatever services they offered taken. I went to another animal hospital about 10 minutes from me and saved $250 on the dental cleaning (everything was exactly the same as Little Silver quoted). We just moved here from Northern California. We brought our 14 1/2 old Golden Retriever for a check up after the long trip. I couldn't believe the level of attention he was given. The doctor took a lot of time to examine our dog, and was very gentle.  Plus the doctor has a Golden herself. We know our dog will be well cared for here.Sadly, we lost Zeus at 15 years plus. Little Silver gently put him asleep. The gave him something to reduce his anxiety and then it was time. They were so gentle and considerate. We will be forever grateful. Read Less

Not only did I adopt my awesome cat from them... I have the pleasure of knowing all of the doctors and much of the staff. This is not a pretentious, uppity vet clinic. This is a genuine veterinary clinic with fantastic doctors that have tremendous caring and compassion and knowledge.
