DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! I'd recommend trying any other place before going here. I visited them 3 times. The first time went well, my cat was given medication for her irritated eye, given worm medication, and a rabies vaccine. The second time I brought a kitten that I feared had a serious problem, they recommended euthanasia and I agreed that was probably best option. The third time I went there with the cat they had given the vaccine to the year prior. She was having difficulty moving, something definitely wrong. I thought she may have broken her leg. The Dr. (who was different from the previous 2X) said she thinks this cat has rabies. I said are you sure, she was fine yesterday, no bite marks, no other signs, can we observe her overnight... I had forgotten THEY gave her a rabies shot the year prior, almost to the day. Not in my right mind, she "convinced" me that euthanasia was the best option, everyone would be at risk if we didn't.. The whole thing just didn't feel right... Well, I lost my little girl that day..... and they also had her tested... She didn't have rabies, and in my heart I knew she didn't. They should have either: 1- known she didn't have rabies, or 2- checked that she was given a rabies vaccine.... Either way, even though the final decision was mine, they're the professionals, and they should have known better... Well, now I know better, and never again will I go there and never again will I do something I know isn't right.... Read Less

I would have given a Zero if possible. I brought my cat there being she wasn’t herself & had loose bowel movements . They suggested the we check everything in her lab work, of course I said yes , she wasn’t herself. I heard the vets assistant say ok she went for all of it, ok I thought young kid , poor choice of words. Until I realized they work on commission & rather than go the extra mile to find out what is wrong with your pet it’s easier too do high cost lab work & make easy money. I say this because after the labs came back I was told she was amemic & they gave her something for loose stool. If they would have put together that she’s aneimic along with all her other symptoms , they should have known something serious was going on. She had a slow growing tumor in her intestines. Being a little more concerned would have made the difference between life or death. If Madison would have only checked into things Annie would be here today. The tumor could have been removed & she would’ve been fine , instead it metastasize . I felt so guilty I put my faith in Madison veterinary, I should have went with my gut & been more persistent . I have been going to Madison Animal Hospital for over 10 years. I've always thought they pushed unnecessary vaccines and tests but were polite enough to listen to me when I turned them down. This past weekend my dog had to have surgery and 30+ stitches and the surgeon did a great job. While it was expensive I willingly paid the bill since it saved my dogs foot. However I was appalled when I returned for a check on his foot. After paying $1500 for the original surgery I was given another bill for over $100 to take a look at his foot, which of course involved taking off the bandage and then rebandaging. No one I know charges for re-checks on surgery. It is considered after care for the surgical procedure. I am very disappointed with thof the practice and am now considering transferring my dogs to another vet. Read Less

Wannabe Scammers. The first time we went there (2014) for our annual shots/check-up, the vet said the older of our two indoor cats had a "hint" of a heart murmur. Other than that, we didn't have any stand-out issues. We admittedly skipped a year of visits, but this week (2016) went back in. First, they tried to charge us $75 (each cat) for a 1-3 year vaccine, even though the last time they got the *same* vaccine was less than 3 years ago. After we got that off the bill, the vet said he thinks both of our cats have asthma. (They've never shown any symptoms of this whatsoever) and he *never* brought up any heart murmur like the other vet tried to pull. Then, he recommended we get dental exams for our older cat- he thought they'd need to extract a tooth, and he handed us a pamphlet, strongly encouraging us to immediately sign up for their $70/month dental program to cover the cost of the dental procedures and the vaccines we got that day (he came into the room with this pamphlet BEFORE he even laid eyes on the cats, by the way). When my husband and I said we'd think about it, only then did the vet tech in the room say that we actually had a 7 day grace-period to decide on the dental program, which would then retroactively cover the cost of the vaccines from our initial visit. As if we didn't feel scammed enough, as we were leaving and paying our final bill, the tech at the counter overcharged us by $75! She charged us for shots the cats never even got. My husband didn't realize it until he got to the car, so he went right back in and fought her on it. They were so focused on the up-sell it was disgusting. I've been researching other vets in the area and will be going there for a second opinion. Stay away from this place. Read Less

My chameleon began moving slowly so I looked online to find a reptile vet near me. Surprisingly, there was one in my town. Our most recent experience at the Madison Animal Hospital will be our last. We needed to board our dog for 3 days and it ended up costing over $400. On top of that the staff makes you feel guilty if you don't "buy up" to the extended offerings or services. Our experience started showing up to our appointment 10 minutes early. Watching our appointment time come and go and then an additional 45 minutes elapse before we were even taken into see the vet. 20 minutes later when the vet arrived we begin... Why did you have to see the vet for a boarding drop-off you ask; well because immunizations are required to board the dog which alone would be fine but you need to schedule a vet visit for the immunization. So an additional $70 vet visit is now done which occurred 65 min late to give her a shot that we didn't witness but were told we needed to wait for. During the visit they tried to sell us umpteen other procedures for our 14 year old dog which breed's life expectancy is 12 years. When we politely declined looks of disgust from the vet and her staff were almost obscene. This place is a business pure and simple, they may care for the animals but they care nothing for their customers of which they now have one less.Read Less

Madison hospital has caring vets, and good service, but be prepared for lots of hidden charges and extra efforts to sell up services. We get shocked every time we take our dog there. This last time, our dog had an ear infection. This happens about once a year and usually runs about $125 our so for the examination and medication. This time it, inexplicably, the price jumped to $278! So here is what happens. The doctor tells you everything under the sun they want to do and hope that you just say "ok" because you think everything is included, but it isn't, and they will never tell you how much everything costs. Until the very end. This is not a case of you get what you pay for or nothing is too good for my pet, it is a sham, plain and simple. This is not premium service, it is a rip-off. Others my be comfortable getting taken advantage of because they are under the false impression that they must be getting something out of it, but all they are getting is robed by friendly, well trained vets-they just cannot comprehend what has happened to them either because they are either all wraped up in their pet or just too rich to notice the bill. BEWARE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT-GO AT YOUR OWN RISK, QUESTION EVERY CHARGE AND PROCEDURE, ASK HOW MUCH EVERYTHING COSTS UP FRONT OR YOU WILL BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. ANYTHING OVER $200 GET A SECOND OPINION. Read Less

Read Less
