Doctor Mary S Gang of Hartford Animal Hospital is the best vet in the country! She has taken care of my cats for twenty-two years. She is kind, compassionate and has a love of all animals. She is always spot on with her diagnosis and treatment of my cats( and we have had some unusual and rare diseases in my house) she always knows and has saved many of my cats. I would recommend Dr. Gang to everyone who wants excellent care for their animals! She is also the most reasonably price hospital, I have friends and family tell me of the cost of other clinics and their prices are crazy high! So, if you want the best go to Dr. Mary Gang! Recommend Dr. Gang for anyone who truly loves their pet. We adopted from a pug rescue and despite their efforts, it was difficult to obtain a thorough health history. Our girl had some major health issues which Dr. Gang was able to resolve with patience and professionalism. We never had a problem getting an appointment...even on short notice. She and her staff were very caring and put up with our "nervous pet parent" fears. As a breed, pugs are susceptible to many health issues and the rescue organization which approved us for adoption reviewed Dr. Gang prior to our approval and she passed the review with flying colors. Dr. Gang does not rush her clients in and out the door and that's what I love about her. She takes her time and answers all of your questions so you leave feeling confident and at ease every time. Dr. Gang followed our dog, Ace throughout his life and was especially patient with us in his senior years.We recently had to say goodbye to him. This vet is very unprofessional. She'll smile in your face and pretend she's friendly to her clients, but the next minute she'll talk behind your back about how incompetent you are, rather than explain as her license and "expertise" expects her to do. She's an alright vet but it was an awkward experience. I've only been there once with my friend. We had to wait a long time to be seen and you could hear the vet screaming at her employees in the back. Overall, it felt unprofessional. Save yourself the headache. Read Less

Dr Gang is a wonderful veterinarian. She always take the time to treat your pet and discuss his  situation, not rushing you in and out as some do. Recently, our cat had a blot clot and she saved his life. She didn't give up on him and we didn't either. Today, five months later, he is back to being his old self. This is the worst vet ever!!! Don't take your kids with you to your appointment. The doctor is constantly screaming at the workers. She calls them, useless, morons, idiots, assholes, incompetent,  stupid pieces of s $!# at the top of her lungs in front of everyone.  She even screamed at me because I didn't make my appointment on the day she told me to schedule it because I had to work.  Then while you are listening to her scream and yell she will come in and tell you the same things she just yelled. I felt so badly for her staff. Every time I go in there are new people, this doctor won't ever keep an employee if she's going to abuse them. I have taken well over a dozen dogs here (both my own pets as well as foster dogs) since 2005.  I am dumbfounded by the negative reviews I see here.  My #1 qualification for a vet is the quality of service that is provided to my dog.  In this regard, Dr. Gang is unparalleled.  I have had dogs with numerous challenging illnesses and conditions, several of which required her to perform surgery, and in every case she has succeeded in curing them and/or providing them with excellent quality of life.  I moved over an hour away from her practice and I still take my dog to her because after having experienced many other vets throughout NJ and the country I can say without exaggeration that she is the best.  Yes, sometimes you have to wait a bit for your appointment. The reason that happens is that you are not shuffled in and out the door, she takes the time to really understand what is going on with your pet, answer your questions, do research, etc. She is also incredibly compassionate and genuinely cares about you and your pet.  And her staff has also always been nothing but amazing.As long as I live within driving distance of Dr. Gang, I will bring my pets to her.
