This is not a bad animal hospital, at all. I appreciate that it's a family business, but I'm much happier when we see Dr. Carter Jr. or his wife. The elder Dr. Carter is a competent doctor, but does not have people skills, and he's rather "business only" with the animals, as well. But, I am endlessly grateful that they work with a local rescue organization, Animals In Distress, and will sterilize and vaccinate stray/feral cats at no charge to the folks who bring them in (with prior approval from AID), to be released back to their colonies, or adopted out. The front desk staff, in these instances, always tries to bill me - even though I've mentioned the AID funding multiple times - so they aren't the most organized, but it's a small inconvenience, and I'm happy to keep cats out of the kill shelters in the area. I've brought in about 10 feral/stray cats over the years and have been happy with the level of care.I also brought in my good old girl, Lacey, when she was nearly 15 years old - she had always had a little wart on her neck, and it grew over the years to the point it was about the size of a small mushroom (but much uglier) in the last year of her life. I was irritated that vets she saw over the years said "it's just cosmetic, leave it be," and then she happened to scratch it so bad that it would not stop bleeding, as a geriatric dog. But how could they know this would happen, I suppose. Dr. Carter Jr. got us in right away and took care of it, saving me the trouble and expense of taking her to the emergency animal hospital. Despite the fact the lump was attached to her neck by a small amount of tissue, there were 4 arteries feeding the nasty thing. He got her stitched in no time, without too much trauma to my poor old girl.Their prices are on the high side, but not as bad as some others (looking at you, Banfield). So, in short, not a bad place, but be prepared for scatterbrained help at the front, slightly inflated (but not offensive) prices, and if you have a choice of doctors, opt for Junior or his wife.
