Best Vet ever! I have had the best experiences at Larchmont Animal Hospital from puppy routine visits to (overeating) X-rays, puppy anxiety issues and treatments to working with Dr. Tamas and the team through the hardest part of having to say goodbye to a furry best friend (in both keeping our girl comfortable for a few months and also letting go with love). Throughout each phase, Larchmont was incredibly kind, warm and understanding of the unique situations. They listened and treated accordingly with compassion every single time. This was the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had. I boarded my diabetic cat at this location over the holiday weekend. She was not given her insulin for 3 days!! Not one phone call was made - and when picking her up they simply said she was aggressive when they attempted to go in the cage. This is a pathetic excuse for a boarder and can only imagine what their actual vetinary services are like. Beware and stay away from this location. Inexperienced and simply unprofessional. My good friend owns a Rag Doll long hair cat and has taken her to Larchmont Animal Hospital to have her groomed several times, raving about the service.  Last week I took my 10 year old Maine Coon long hair to have her groomed.  Karin, the groomer, was fantastic.  My cat never goes out in the car and was very nervous, but once Karin took over, she did not cry once.  Karin brushed her and used the clippers to remove excess fur and knots, explaining that older cats need some help when it comes to grooming.  She even clipped her nails with no problem.  Once completed, and back home, my cat was very proud of her new look.  I will be going back to Karin on a regular basis!!!! Vet was nice, however the Vet Tech was not. I said no to one out of the eight shots that she lined up with no discussion before hand. She treated me as someone who was a neglectful and horrible pet owner for the remainder of the appointment, which I did not appreciate since I am the complete opposite and my pets mean everything to me. Dr. Tamas is absolutely wonderful with the animals and their owners. He is generous with his time and extremely knowledgeable. His kindness and love for animals are apparent. He never rushes through an appointment and takes time to thoroughly answer all questions. His staff is equally pleasant and expresses a genuine concern for the animals it tends to. I moved away from the area and have never found a veterinarian that I trust half as much, so I will be taking my cats back to Larchmont for their next appointments, even if it means a longer car ride for them. I have been bringing my babies here for the past 7 years.  the Doctors and the staff are smart, caring, kind and gentle.  I appreciate that they take their time, I feel like they listen and genuinely care.  I have never felt like they were rushing me through just to get to the next appointment.  One can not underestimate the value of a good bedside manner, especially when one has a sick animal that is suffering.  They understand that at Larchmont.     This is a small hospital with two doctors,  but they do just about everything - exams, teeth cleaning, xrays, etc.   It is with tremendous gratitude to Dr Helfat & Dr Tamas that I give the Larchmont Animal Hospital 5 stars.  As a side note, I have a very ornery cat who thinks he is an aligater.   He likes to fight & beat up on everyone. They will not board your dog without a Canine Influenza vaccine which is $20 plus another $20 4 months later for the final shot. We will not return for the second shot because it's unecessary medication. Our vet told us they have only seen one case of canine influenza in the past 2 years and it wasn't serious. Insisting on unecessary vaccines is just a way to increase their profit from boarding without raising their prices. When you're dropping off your pet and you have a flight in 2 hours there's not choice but to accept their policy which is unfortunate. Also, our pet had food remaining when we returned which meant that they didn't follow the feeding schedule we provided. We individually bagged each meal so it should not have been a probem. Love the vets and techs here, and the quality of care that my dog receives. Prices are reasonable and they really do care about your animals. However, one of the women who works the front desk is kind of rude. Whenever I call to make an appointment, I cringe when she picks up the phone because I know that I am in for a stressful phone call. I don't know if she hates her job, or hates people, or what. But there's always something to be said about pleasant customer service from all staff that you encounter in a facility.I have yet to try the kennel and the groomer, but I'll try to call and make my appointments when that one lady isn't working, I guess. The administrative staff is plain rude -- there is no other way to put it. Having made a mistake about scheduling an appointment, they were unapologetic and claimed that "we don't make mistakes." Our pets will not go back there. Perhaps we caught the girl at the counter on a bad day. But that does not justify such a poor attitude, sharp tone, and unwillingness to help. Read Less

I think this facility is outstanding. When I moved to this area I had an older cat. The people here were compassionate when she died. I have another cat now who is about a year old. The doctors and staff are much better than other facilities I have used. The doctors are always available to speak to you, and the staff is incredibly helpful I haven't used the boarding part, but the hospital part is excellent-getting an appointment is easy and quick and most importantly, the people who work here seem to really care. Veterinary costs are high, but I believe the prices here are competitive, and they don't try to rip you off.
