I unfortunately had to rush my dog here about a month ago it was an emergency situation and my dog could not be saved. Everything happened so fast we were in absolute panic and this was the closest hospital. Everyone seemed very compassionate however I am mortified and still cannot get over how my dog was presented to us. The dog was just 1.5 years old and she was my little sisters dog. We were just told the dog had passed and were in extreme agony. After stepping outside to cry our eyes out and make some calls I see the vet or who ever she was come out with my dog wrapped up in a plastic bag with a knot on it and duck tape to keep it closed. I was in such sock I was sick to my stomach but had to be strong for my little sister who was frantically trying to open the bag to see her dog !! We had to see our dog on the curb/bench in front of the fucking building ! Of course we were in such shock that we took the dog and left . We did not get the curtesy to even see our dog in a room properly or even got a heads up that they were bringing the dog out. This all happened in 20 mins! Then they gave us a bill for something close to 600$. I called the next day and spoke to a women who was very sympathetic and that is the only reason I waited to write this review but I honestly can't get the image of how they brought our dog out of my head.  I am extremely angry that this happend to us the way it did. The girl  who brought the dog out seemed inexperienced. This was not a small dog she was a pit bull imagine handing a dog over of that size like here you go ! Unacceptable ! And yes they informed me the bag my dog was in is what they use to hand over a dead animal but it's still a plastic bag ! I hope no one ever had to experience what we did ! I absolutely LOVE Nutley Animal Hospital. I have been going there since 1981 and would never go anywhere else. Dr. Re is amazing. I have senior cats (21 years old) and Dr. Re has been my primary vet. What I love about Dr. Re (and I am sure the rest of the vets) is that they try to take the least expensive and intrusive method to helping the pets. This saves me money but more importantly, is less stressful for the cats. When I had to put my other cat down last year, Dr. Re and the staff were so caring and compassionate about giving me time alone with him to say my good-byes. My other 2 cats have health issues and Dr. Re takes his time to go over all of the results and clearly explain the options to me to help me make the best decision for them. I do not understand any of the negative comments since I have never had any issues with the vets or the staff in the past almost 37 years that I have been going there. Read Less

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Re. He is compassionate, thorough and spends the necessary time to explain everything in detail in a clear, concise manner. If testing is needed, he helps you determine what is the best options for treatment. He will even make follow up calls to check on your pet, as needed. This vet is amazing! I brought my cat who peed all over himself on the car ride over and when he got there Dr. Ray examined him and fix multiple problems he was having. They washed him after and he was good a new. Highly recommend going here for any of your pets. Read Less

Nutley Animal Hospital is wonderful! When I call for an appointment because I was very concerned, the reply was always, "When can you come in?". They call back ASAP and always leave messages. If possible, the receptionist who answers the phone, will ask and give answer if vet is busy. They are honest about trratments and prices, especially if expensive and really worth the time and expense - they are dog owners, too. They refer you to specialists and keep in close touch. The faculty here really care about animals. I had to take Foxy for surgery because of the 3 large stones inside her bladder. The doctor explained all the risks involved with surgery and took care of my dog. This hospital is a saving grace for pets and their pet owners. Read Less

I would highly recommend the place. The secretaries, the veterinarian, and the staff were just polite and very easy to talk to. I felt welcomed and although the wait was a little long (I had an appointment), the service there was great! The veterinarian Dr. Gennace was very patient and listened to my concerns about my pet Teddy and she even gave me tips. Then, when getting the estimate, the secretary was kind enough to allow me to look over the estimate and to see if I wanted the extra exams or not because it was very pricey! It's not like they pushed you to just pay and that's it. My first experience here was just really great and they deserved a review from me. I can't tell you how good their vets are. All I can tell you is I won't take my pets here because they won't give you any quote over the phone. Not even a ballpark quote. The receptionist told me an office visit is $77 and then once they assess your pet they will give you a quote for further procedures. But No quotes over the phone! I asked a simple question. What is the cost of a dental cleaning and the receptionist said she had no clue! UNREAL! It should be easy to look up the cost of a dental cleaning. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Read Less

Not sure why they refer to themselves as an animal hospital if they refuse to see an animal without an appt without even wanting to know what's wrong. Try to have a dog who's in obvious pain seen and then have to deal with an obnoxious person at reception. Would not recommend this place. Read Less

My cat has a chronic UTI and Kidney disease. She has been sick for 3 days and the staff was great to squeeze her in on Saturday. Dr. Re spent awhile with her and knows her history and my cat was happy and we were happy knowing what great treatment we get at NAH Read Less

Dr. Schulman and the staff could not have been more caring and considerate when my GS,Scout, suffered a stroke -paralyzing both of her back legs, and had to be put down. I have rescued another dog and the only one I brought him to was Dr. Schulman. Her expertise and advice and medical care for Arthur was excellent. She is the best! Read Less

I've been going to Nutley now for over 20yrs through a friend recommendation after I adopted my cat Nala. They took great care of her and were so compassionate when she crossed the rainbow bridge. I continue to bring my senior dog, and my toddler cat, and I trust that they are getting the best care from the vets. They truly care. The techs are all wonderful and they really love every animal. I went in on Tuesday morning in tears because I found this tiny kitten who was not in good health. The women at the office were amazing. They took the kitten and treated her for an upper respiratory infection. She was adopted today and I can not thank the hospital enough for helping me with this baby! I called them on Saturday morning because my dog was barely breathing and he wouldn't have made it very far out of town To an actual animal hospital. When I told the receptionist that my dog needed help right Away she said they were too busy with appointments and to take him to Oradell. Dr McMahon & her staff are exceptional. It is a true family environment where your pet comes first. Our 2 pups love Dr Re. He thoroughly explains everything he is doing & shares his knowledge & experience to provide excellent care. Our Pudge had suffered a pulmonary edema on Christmas day forcing us to an emergency vet but the following day we were back in the familiar care of NAH & Dr McMahon got us through the scare, following up ALL weekend morning,noon, & night on her own time. She brought Dr Re up to date after the holiday weekend & he remains our primary doctor. Even the receptionists were asking how Pudge was doing when I would call. I cannot say enough good things about Nutley Animal Hospital and the Groom Room. (The Groom Room is associated with this hospital.) I moved to Nutley about a year ago. Finding a great vet for my Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix was more important than finding a doctor for me. Nutley Animal Hospital: At times, I wished Dr. Re was my personal doctor. Super kind, very thorough, explained any tests or procedures he thought were needed, high energy, and available to talk when I had both big and little questions. I knew I found a great vet when Murphy snuggled into Dr. Re's chest during an exam and Dr. Re gave him a kiss on the head. Groom Room: Cathy is a terrific, talented groomer. I loved the interaction she had with Murphy. She made me feel welcome every time I visited, even when it wasn't for a grooming appointment. Cathy is both compassionate and kind.
