I was worried about my cat and brought it to Lawrence Animal Hospital and honestly I wish I didn't. A friend of mine warned me about this place and how she didn't like it and how they treated her dogs. I previously took my cat to Edinburg Animal Hospital (which all of my pets love and that is our home hospital) however I was in a rush and Edinburg didn't have anything open that day last minute. I was guaranteed a $30 exam since I was a new client and I even explained over the phone my cats condition so make sure. When I arrived the first red flag I noticed was how neither of my pets liked that place. The next red flag was when I mentioned the $30 promised price and they made a story up on the spot. The final red flag was when I asked to speak to the main person in charge and the doctor, I forget his name, left for literally five seconds and returned. Obviously, I didn't believe him and i asked again to speak with, face to face, with the person in charge. That is when he stated she just left and he spoke with her on the way out. Archie is our ten-month old Schnoodle and he is due for neuterization and microchipping. We chose Dr. Allison Walker and we were very happy with our choice. She spoke to me in person and answered all my questions when I brought Archie the morning of surgery. She called me in person one minute after surgery was finished and gave me a report. She spoke to me in person when I picked up Archie and answered all my questions about post operative care clearly. The surgery took only 20 minutes - good sign that there was minimal tissue trauma and short anesthesia duration. The incision looked great - clean and minimal redness and no swelling at all. The charge for the two procedures was $400 which was above the median but not the highest in our area. I was given a $70 discount coupon. Total charge came down to $440 including Trazadone and Carprofen. It is a fair charge. I am very satisfied with the service Archie and us received for the money. We have had nothing but competence, politeness and genuine caring for our dogs.  They are never rushed, taking plenty of time to address the issue at hand, answer questions and explain or discuss other things happening.  Everyone is gentle and compassionate with our little guys and are always available by phone.  I love the fact that they check up on your pet the next day or as often as they feel necessary.  Kudos to the entire staff! l have been going to Lawrence Animal since 2003. I have always had a great experience and found the drs caring and knowledgeable. However, in the past few years the drs have changed. I took my turtle in for treatment and although Dr. Wilson was very knowledgeable, I found him a little lacking in bedside manner and sort of condescending. My appt was pushed back 45 min due to an emergency. And while I fully understood that I didn't get an apology and felt rushed. If I end up returning I will probably ask for the other vet. Read Less

Excellent staff and doctors who are knowledgeable about my pets needs. Great personalities as they make you feel comfortable and always available to answer questions when need be. However, I have to agree with Melissa C. they are rather expensive. Most vets will give you a few breaks when you have multiple pets going there. Don't expect that here... I was charged for 2 cans of dog food. While I'm NOT expecting anything free but when you see that your patient's bill is already over $300 at least have sympathy. Read Less

Dr. Jason Wilson is one of the most knowledgeable medical professionals that I have ever encountered in animal or human medicine). I'm a biological researcher, so I can be a bit picky about my doctors/vets. Unlike many vets that I've taken my animals to over the years I feel truly comfortable that Dr. Wilson knows his stuff and my dog is getting top of the line care. Moreover, the rest of the staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. My dog is reactive to other dogs and the reception staff are very responsive to her needs- getting us into the exam room and out of the potentially problematic waiting room as fast as possible. I don't believe there is better care anywhere. Dr. Wilson treats our dog and cat as if they are members of our family (because let's face it, they are). My 1 yr. old cat was diagnosed with rhinotracheaitis by another vet he was seeing. The diagnosis was incorrect and for about 4 yrs. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on medicine that he didn't need. The physical discomfort and emotional angst he and I suffered was unreal. When my girlfriend and I moved to NJ in 2009, his condition worsened. He vomited constantly and fell to 5.5 lbs. Dr. Collins ran some tests that came out normal and thus diagnosed him with a polyp. The polyp was so large, it took up most of his throat which was why he vomited. It blocked his gag reflex. Dr. Collins gave me a choice as to which surgery would be best for her to perform. Financially speaking, the more minor of surgeries had to be completed and would still remove the polyp possibly temporarily but maybe permanently. With luck on our side, he hasn't had a relapse in close to 2 yrs. with no sign of the polyp returning. If it weren't for Dr. Collins and her wonderful staff, he wouldn't be alive today. I should've filed a complaint with the other vet, for they shouldn't even be in business today. He is up to 11+ lbs., happy and playful. Even when I bring him in for his annual visits, they hug him, love him and take care of him as if he were one of their own. I would refer them to anyone and everyone. They are an amazing vet. I can't thank them enough. I appreciate them beyond any words I can express. P.S. Recently our family pet got really sick. It started on Tues Nov 2nd,2010 he lost his appetite. Then the next night he had bloody diarrhea and vomiting. We called around to get him to a vet asap. The vet we were going to take him to was closed until Mon Nov 8, and the other didn't have an appointment until 2:00 thurs afternoon. We called Lawrence Animal Hospital and we were able to get in first thing the next morning. When we got there everyone was very pleasant and a great staff. Right away the Dr knew what he might have new virus, parvo. This was really the first time I heard about. My dog is only 10 months(he's still a puppy). Dr.Gruber suggested that we get him tested, blood work, xrays etc. and medication. But we couldn't afford it. So she made another suggestion . They believed it was parvo he had all of the symptoms, being that we were new customers we didn't have to pay for the office visit just the fecal test and his medication. That was great. They gave him some injections and sent us home with his medication. If the injection(antibiotics) didn't work he should be hospitalized(which I knew we couldn't afford)On wed With no appetite he wouldn't take his meds and he was still the same. We called the vet and told them that he was still the same. Trish told us to come in the was a stronger dose of medication that they had just recieved and it was to be given to him in a series of 2 shots a day for three days. These shot were given free of charge. Still no change by Fri. My husband and I didn't know what else to do. My husband made an appointment for our dog to be put down because he didn't want him to suffer. We wanted to spend the weekend with us. On Sunday afternoon the dog started running around, barking, and eating his food. He still vomited a little, and still some diarrhea but not bloody. Dr. Gruber called my husband monday morning to check on our dog and he told her the good news. She told us to come into the office again and to give him another series of shots free of charge so he won't relapse again. Now he is taking his medicine and he is not vomitting. He's playing with the kids again he's my happy baby again. And all thanks to Lawrence Animal Hospital..I love those ladies. They did not give up and My family and I really appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts and so does our Dog. To Dr Gruber, Dr Collins and Staff you are wonderful you do a great job. People are going to say negative things to make them feel better about themselves , Just keep on smiling as you do and Keep up the good work. Hello, I have dealt with the new management and it hasn't been a pleasant experience. The doctor kept forcing me to buy all kinds of products and made me do tests that were unneccessary. my first visit bill was close to $500. the manager had an extremely disrespectful attitude when i asked her to take a fecal test off the bill since i just got one done 2 months ago. she got furious and started yelling because she didn't like my ""tone"" and then she said she was ""firing me as a client"" and asked me to take my business elsewhere. Trish, is a big, fat, ugly lady who must be fired if the practice wants to hold on to future clients! One doctor will try to sell you everything they have in the office (even the towels or ""poop"" bags if she has to!) the manager, TRISH (yes, the big fat white girl with an attitude) is horrrible to clients, she has a fake ""sweet talk voice"" that can change into a monster's growl if she decides that she doesn't like your tone. She is a bych, for a lack of a better word. Hate this practice, hate the management, hate that they care about money more than clients. $54 every visit (minimum) and if Godforbid ur pet is sick, that $70 for a regular sick visit and $120 for emergencies. if you are filthy rich, please go to princeton animal hospital instead Read Less
