We have been here four times with our dog Gus for detached nails. The first time he ripped out his full nail from the bone and was bleeding heavily. We called in advance of our arrival and informed them of the problem and he was seen right away. He went back for a bandage change and they did great and he got the all clear on the third visit for which they didn't charge. We took him back for another nail issue and again they handled him beautifully and he's an anxious dog. I highly recommend them. Read Less

Cash Driven ot just plain incompetent? Below is my correspondence with Animerge. They did reimburse me $ 401.00 but never offered an apology, explanation or even a weak excuse. Animerge Dr. Nancy Gruber 21 US Highway 206 Raritan, NJ, 08869 Dr. Gruber: This letter requires a response. On Saturday, September 28, 2019 I brought my late wife's cat (Poodles) to Animerge. I initially brought her in because of pain she appeared to be experiencing on her right side. You examined her, performed an X ray and then informed me that she had Heart and Lung cancer. You very strongly and insistently suggested that I euthanize her. When I refused you had me sign several forms noting my refusal. You also informed me that you thought she would be dead by the morning. Poodles is my late wife's cat and I have a very strong emotional attachment to it. Fortunately, I decided to get a second opinion and on Monday, September 30, 2019 I brought Poodles to my primary Vet. They had to take another x-ray since the CD you supplied did not contain any x-ray. The initial opinion of the Veterinarian was that it was an injury, not cancer. On Monday, October 7, 2019 I brought her back to the primary veterinarian for a follow up ultrasound. They confirmed that there was an injury to the last two ribs, not cancer. Your misdiagnosis and attitude caused me significant stress and anxiety. If I listened to you Poodles, would be dead. I will pay for the medication, but I expect a refund of $ 401 (see attached) for the visit and x-ray by October 21, 2019. This is non-negotiable. Your refusal to do so will result in me seeking any and all legal remedies against Animerge. Thank you, Rich Read Less

We took our cat, Winston, there for liquid therapy to help his kidney disease.  The staff was great from the minute we walked in, at reception, and all of the doctors and other medical staff.  We were able to visit him in a private room while he was staying there and that really helped.  Unfortunately his CKD progressed too much.  He passed away a week after he got home.  But I am thankful for their help, and the one night after his hospital stay where he was himself again.  I would definitely recommend AnimERge.  They really deserve a 5 for care.  We had a little bit of a checkout issue, but that was OK too, so I am giving a 4.  Everything was cleared up.  The cost was a lot but I am sure it is comparable to other facilities. Make sure to get a second opinion! After a very expensive X-Ray I was told my dog probably had an obstruction that needed a $550 ultra sound to confirm that it was  there. I arrived at 8:00 am and was told the ultrasound technician would arrive by 2:00 or the latest 4:00 pm! I was also given an estimate by Dr. Guy for over $5,000 worth of medical procedures that she recommended for my dog in order to remove the obstruction. I was not convinced this was the correct diagnosis and told her I was going to get a second opinion. She made me feel as if I was a terrible dog owner for not following her instructions.I paid my bill ( over $550) and left for Red Bank Vet in Tinton Falls.  The Dr  looked at the X-ray I took from AniMerge and confirmed there was no obstruction. My dog was suffering from HGE and needed to be kept overnight so she could be hydrated and watched closely. She's back home and doing great. Don't be pressured..... seek a second opinion if possible. Animerge is absolutely awful. I brought my cat there as he had trouble breathing. After xrays, it showed that he had fluid around his heart and lungs. They knew he wasn't going to make it. So, they left him in oxygen all day and left him with gook in his eyes and drool all over his face. They did not care for him ONE bit. It breaks my heart that his last day was him being in oxygen and the people who are supposed to care for him weren't doing their job. I would save yourself and your pet the heartache and torture and bring them elsewhere. I am beyond heartbroken how insensitive they are and how terrible my cat was when I went back to the hospital only a couple hours later. Read Less

Our dog was limping and after two visits to his regular vet he could not figure out what was wrong so sent us to Dr. Collins at Animerge.  We had an appointment...this was not an emergency visit.  Well, after a couple of X-Rays and an examination, we were informed that he had a sprain.  For this we were charged over $500.  Again, I say to you this was not an emergency visit.  We made the appointment at least a week, maybe two weeks in advance.  Stay away from this place unless you have money to throw away.  I am also considering changing my regular vet mainly for recommending this place because he just didn't know what was wrong.  Also, after weeks of rest the dog is still limping. I am heartbroken. I took my sweet 15 year old cat in for vomiting, not eating, dehydration. After a nearly $600 bill for exam and tests, I was told he has a UTI and prescribed an antibiotic. He died two days later. Perhaps it was his time to go. I would expect a good vet to address that this is a  likely possibility and help avoid costly diagnostics I couldn't afford. I made my financial situation crystal clear to the vet, and he saw my anxiety over the situation. I succumbed to having tests doe so he could diagnose accurately. Obviously it wasn't accurate I now have a huge bill (for me) and my dear sweet cat is gone. Read Less

Horrible service from AnimERge this morning. We showed up at 9 am with a dog who has been vomiting with diarrhea. There was only one other family in front of us, and it took TWO hours to get to an exam room, followed by an additional 40 minutes before the doctor even came in the room. This was followed by a 5 minute exam, xrays, and blood work, and and then an additional hour and a half of waiting for results. I know this is a hospital and there are emergencies happening all the time, but to spend 4 hours largely waiting, is insane. Especially without the decency to check in on the patients once in a while to give them an idea of how long of a wait to expect. Having a sick animal is stressful enough, feeling like the doctors who are there to help are in no hurry to help, sucks. Read Less

When I got there 2 technician immediately took my dog and gave her the care she needed. My dog had to be hospitalized and she had the best care possible. Some of the reviews mention that their prices are too high, but they don't mention that this is a 24hrs vet and they are equipped to handle any type of emergency. My sister brought her dog to this facility last night after the dog consumed a bottle of alcohol that had fallen off her kitchen counter. Being worried and nervous for the safety of her animal, she brought her there to see if 1.) they could maybe pump her stomach, or 2.) check to make sure she didn’t ingest glass from the broken alcohol bottle. All they did was give the dog fluids...something she could have done at home, and then charged her over $300. THEN when she asked for an itemized bill for the hefty charge, they claimed their printer was “broken”. If this wasn’t bad enough, they had the audacity to refer to her dog as a “doofus”, “stupid animal” and said they had “real emergencies to deal with”. I am appalled by the lack of empathy and unprofessionalism this facility demonstrated. I will never take my animals here and will advise others to stay far away from this place. Read Less

Everyone there was very caring and gentle with our pup. A few staff members actually sat with us on the floor with our dog and gave him a little extra love at the end. It really meant a lot to know he was not hurting anymore. We have had him there in the past as he had some other medical issues and they treated him like their own previous family member. I've just returned after a 2 hour visit to Animerge.   I can only report that their waiting room has a nice fish tank.   I walked in around 215 with my dog who was acting stressed, panting, and rubbing her butt on the ground every time she walked a few steps.    I filled out a form and sat down and was ignored for the next 90 minutes.   No one looked at my dog, took her temp, or listened to her heart.    No compassion whatsoever.   Just staff complaining about how busy it is     When i asked how long it was going to be, they said, "Sir, all I can tell you is you're next- then i was ignored for another 30 minutes    We left and are on our way to Red Bank Veternarians.     I have never been to an Emergency Vet that showed so little interest.   Emergencies over the years have taken us to several different 24hr vets.    They always at least triage the animals to get an idea what the issue is.  Learned my lesson and I will make sure to let my pet owner friends know how little this place cares Read Less

Do not bring your pets here. My boyfriend and his family brought in their aged cat who was experiencing paralysis. They insisted on running a ton of tests and refused to give them a straight answer as to the cat’s condition. When the decision was finally made to put the cat to sleep, they wanted to charge an EXTRA $150 for the family to stay in the room with him during the euthinesia. It was grossly greedy and extremely insensitive. I have lost several pets during my life and I have never heard of such a practice. They clearly took advantage of a family that was hurting over the loss of a beloved pet. They lost hundreds of dollars and are left with no answers. Update based on Animerge's response: the response to my feedback demonstrates the negligence of this establishment. My dog is not Ranger. The fact that someone took the time to respond and does not take the time to make sure they are talking about the correct patient means they have a total lack of customer/patient care.Original review:If I could give this place zero stars I would. Pet owners beware! This place is the worst vet / emergency vet. After telling me that my dog may have an obstruction causing bile to back up into her stomach, they waited for 12 hours before doing an ultrasound. They then told me my dog likely had an infection that was potentially communicable to humans and so needed to be hospitalized for 2 days. Just picked my dog up after waiting 2 hours after the time she was supposed to be discharged and the vet says she likely didn't have the infection they were concerned about. The vets never contacted me as scheduled and only relayed information to me after me calling multiple times, at least 6 hours after they were supposed to. And here's the really crazy thing. While my husband is waiting to get the dog for over an hour, the vet calls me to ask if we are picking the dog up. I don't  know how this place continues to operate but I will never take an animal here again. I feel horrible that my dog suffered at this place for 2 days. Read Less

We were in NJ visiting my fiancée's family when our dog ate a nectarine pit. We found animERge since they are a 24 hr vet and given the unfortunate circumstance, we were very glad we went to them. The entire staff that was working was wonderful. The receptionist, Barbara, was welcoming and friendly, the vet techs were knowledgeable and loving towards the animals, and the vet, Dr. Brett Newton, was intelligent, kind, and patient (we asked a lot of questions). Dr. Newton was very honest with us and made sure we had all of the facts before we made any decision. Since our dog has Megaesophagus, which makes him more prone to vomiting and developing aspiration pneumonia, Dr. Newton was very careful about his recommendation. Ultimately, the vet was able to successfully remove the pit. When we picked up Ollie, the vet spent plenty of time with us to inform us how the endoscopy procedure went and the discharge notes. He was able to answer all of our questions and was kind and professional the entire time. Read Less

Wife arrived was great by the staff which was excellent in paying attention to our needs . They point out a rough estimate for our dog 600 dollars that was ok . Ginger was taken care of by dr Lee which explained  what was going on with ginger , she took her time and answer all our questions and concerns about ginger . She performed an procedure on our dogs anal glands and was successful . About three hours later we were on our way home . Ginger has bounce back very quickly. The bill was under 300 dollars with a coupon they offer online . Yes a 35 dollar coupon !!! The staff was excellent and offered my three year daughter a snack . Ginger is doing much better thanks to dr lee . Dr Brown and the entire staff were great - very friendly and informative, and particular attention was paid to the after-care instructions. I will say that it was more expensive than I had anticipated for an exam (~$300), and in future I would ask if any of the items they "gave" me are available without a prescription, and then buy them elsewhere. The l-lysine supplement that they charged me $46 for is available on one of my regular websites for $21. The eyedrops are also available online at almost 50% less than I paid for them at Animerge. Really bad experience. We recently took our dog to this place for an emergency--- we waited for 1.5 hours before I complained to be seen, we brought our dog in with a possible retinal detachment and it was progressively getting worse as we were sitting there. I asked the secretary why we had not even been seen by a professional and they said they had other emergencies. (side note-- she wrote bloodshot eye on the paperwork--- no wonder they were in no rush) Why would I be there if it wasn't an emergency?? They took him back- without us, and never asked us about his temperament or anything. They proceeded to get him all worked up and upset and after loudly complaining we were allowed back. If an animal had an issue with the pressure in their eyes, obviously it is not a smart decision to work that animal up, thus increasing the pressure in their eyes. We sat there for a total of 3 hours and decided to take him somewhere else. We should have done this after 30 minutes. The best part about this is that when we told the secretary that we were leaving because we didn't want to be here anymore-- she said "I want to get out of here too". Excuse me?? Is this not your job?? Why on earth would you say that to a customer. After that we went to Northstar Vets in Robbinsville and it was AMAZING. We were seen within 10min of walking in the door by a vet tech, and saw the Vet MD after 20min. Please don't waste your time going to Animerge. Read Less

For the same procedure, my normal vet, East Brunswick Animal Hospital, wanted to charge hundreds for surgery, yet Animerge had it done at 2 am. Furthermore, the front desk staff was very caring, kind and sympathetic to what was happening with my dog. The vet was as well. Thank you again for your kindness and excellent treatment. The staff brought us into an examination room right away and the doctor saw him within minutes. What a wonderful assistant and doctor staff they have. The doctor went over the cost for treatment with best and worst case scenarios so there were no surprises. Since he had to be hospitalized and on IV we felt it best not to visit so he wouldn't go crazy (if you ever had a coon hound, you would know what I mean). We were called each morning by the doctor (not an assistant) who explained very thoroughly how he was doing. I just received a call saying he is ready to be released to come home. The doctor explained what I should expect with his gastrointestinal system and precautions to take with his diet until he fully recovers. I have driven past Animerge for many years and never expected it to be so well staffed and modern. From the front it does not look like anything special but it's the staff that makes this a special place. I would highly recommend Animerge.Read Less

She also followed up with a phone call to see how he was doing and to tell us some of the test results and gave us more information on continuing his care at home.Yes, they are expensive, as any emergency room visit would be. But honestly, I had a similar issue with my other dog a few months ago and the vet bill for the office visit and diagnostic tests at my vet was $600 while it was $540 at Animerge (and they gave him fluids, which my other dog didn't get at the regular vet). So I'd say it was about comparable in the end. Sadly, x-rays are expensive, so is the fecal test for giardia. They also did explain to me what the initial cost for the x-ray and office visit was so I knew what walking in the door would cost. I will say it would have been nice to get an update on the final bill when we decided on the course of action (I was a little surprised we went from $350 to $550, but looking at the bill later I wouldn't have changed anything - it just would have been nice to know as we went along how the bill was being affected). One thing I LOVE that they did is they handed me a typed paper detailing everything I'd told them and what they'd told me - options for how to proceed plus what I actually decided. Because let's face it, no matter how much you try to listen and absorb everything they're saying, you're tired and worried about your pet so you're bound to forget something later. So having paperwork to refer to was great.Unfortunately, I've had to take two cats to them for serious emergencies in the past 10 years as well as this recent visit this week and every time I have been treated with courtesy and my pets have been treated with care and actually affection.I really felt that every staff person I met truly cared for animals and my dog as well and would definitely recommend them. And yes, I am a real person and no I did not receive any compensation for writing this review. Can't say enough wonderful things about Animerge. our vet recommended them to us when our rescue, Roxy, needed surgery 3 years ago. The treatment and care she received was outstanding. We have visited them a few times since then, but most recently with my daughters cat, Oliver who was in a great deal of stress. Sadly Ollie was in congestive heart failure, and my daughter had to make the heart breaking decision to let him go. Ollie was rescued off the streets of Philly, and had helped my daughter through some tough times, and making the decision to have him put to sleep has probably been the most difficult decision she's had to make. Everyone was compassionate and caring, and allowed us to spend as much time as possible with him before, during and after he died. Would highly recommend Animerge, a great group of doctors, techs, and assistants. Thanks for all that do you, and the condolence cards we received were much appreciated.Read Less

IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, TAKE YOUR DOG TO THIS OFFICE!! My family was taking my dog to this vets office for a few years. Every time we would bring the dog in they would prescribe another medication to treat my dogs "allergies". My mother, desperate to help my dog and stop his chronic itching, would agree to the medications they would prescribe, and every time my dog would visit this place they would find an additional medication to sell to my mother (costing hundreds of dollars). Meanwhile, keeping my mother convince my dog NEEDED be treated with a constant regiment of a drug called ATOPICA, which causes cancer in dogs. All the additional and aforementioned medication the vet tired to sell to my mother to treat my dog were really to treat the side effects of Atopica and no one ever informed my mother about the side effects of this drug (including CANCER) that was slowly killing my dog because they were desperate to sell her more medications. This place runs by claiming they are an emergency medical practice for pets, but they are just exploiting people who want to save their beloved pet. Long story short, my dog needed to be put down because he developed cancerous tumors and was experiencing convulsions -all side effects of the Atopica which they kept prescribing. I don't know if this is an incident of negligence or greed by the people who run this place but if you want your PET TO STAY HEALTHY AND ACTIVE PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!!!!!!! This place is not a good place to take your pet. They don't run an honest practice, and they charge far too much for their services. First off, most (if not all) of their positive reviews are clearly biased or fake. Look at them, they all are so flowery and perfect, seems like they were written by fake accounts managed by people involved in the company or by others with a conflict of interest with the company. Anyway, look at the negative reviews for something closer to the true story.Secondly, they charge way too much for their services, and the initial 160$ consult doesn't offer any treatment by a doctor, which is really unfair. They then hit you with a huge, unreasonable bill, and if you can't afford it, they suggest you apply for a loan. What is this? Not sure how these people sleep at night, but this place is all about money. If you don't see that, then I feel sorry for you. And lastly, read other reviews about this place. One Yelp reviewer says he received a gift card for posting a good review on Yelp for AnimERge. He says they offer gift cards in exchange for good Yelp reviews. That's called a bribe, and it's bad business. That should be a huge red flag from an ethics stand point. My advice is this, if you want to waste your money, do it some place else. Don't give it to these dishonest people, and do not feel pressured to sign anything. Don't let them play off of your fear of losing your pet. Don't let them do it. Go to someone that actually cares, deep down, about providing care to animals for a reasonable price and isn't all about money. Read Less

I had a horrible experience here. Brought my dog Snoopy at 6pm on Sat. He had a heart condition and had a fainting spell. They kept him one day and adjusted his meds. I was told he was doing fine and to pick him up 8pm Sun. Got there at 8 and waited and hour and a half for him. I noticed when they brought him out his teeth were chattering, his tail was down and he was drooling. The vet tech said he's fine, just needs a drink of water. Got him home and his tail was down, drooling, with teeth chattering. He didn't want to go in the car again and it broke my heart to have to force him to go back there. Got back to this place at 11pm and was put in a room and told the doctor will be right in. Waited in the room for a hour. Nobody came in. I went outside to the receptionist and was told an emergency came in and to go have a cup of coffee. Waited another half hour before a vet tech came in. By this time my dog was listless and not responding. The vet tech then pulled on my dogs collar choking him as he was trying to make him walk to another room. After choking him, the vet tech realized my dog was unable to move and needed to be carried. I went to the reception room and witnessed the emergency dog walking out with his tail wagging. When the doctor finally came in the room she told me the "vet tech" was not a vet tech just some kind of assistant with no training. My dog was euthanized 10 minutes later. The hospital manager just makes excuses for their incompetence. She'll say they work very hard and certain emergencies get priority. The truth is they are under-staffed and incompetent to handle complicated issues. I have brought many pets here before, but only for minor, uncomplicated issues. Never had a problem with those. It's the complicated, life threatening issues that Animerge doesn't have the training and ablility to handle. If you love your pet and have a complicated emergency, please don't go through what I went through. Don't bring your pet here. Read Less

For regular hours the Plainfield Animal Hospital is the go to place for the cat and dog. However, when they are closed and immediate attention is needed Animerge is a welcome place to go. X-rays, blood work, probably more -- on site and pretty quick turn around. I think as with any animal emergency (outside of a well know illness or accident) diagnosis and treatment is a sometimes difficult and always expensive path to figure out especially for older pets. I think this place does a good job of starting out simple and explaining the options going forward -- perhaps giving too many options for over reaching diagnosis but at least you do get a pretty complete picture of options from which to decide on. They also allow you to come visit your pet at any time if they are hospitalized. Regarding costs, lets face it, we all know emergency pet care is very expensive. However they took the time to go through the entire treatment plan with me and explain what every single charge was for and why that was something they felt was important in the treatment of my pets condition. My cat is 12 now and for most of his life he has been cared for by my local vet.  However, her office has limits in terms of the kind of care she can provide so she referred me to Animerge when he had growths in his ear that were getting infected repeatedly. Now, the thing you need to understand is my cat is one adorable pile of mush - at home.  As soon as you take him to a vet he becomes a furball of terror.  The folks at Animerge were total pros in dealing with him.  They have the ability to knock a pet out with gas so they can properly examine him and do what they have to do.  Under an hour later the animal is back in the land of consciousness.  This was huge as normally my vet would have to inject him with something that would knock him out for half a day.First I consulted Dr. Glasser when we thought that chemo treatment may have been needed.  His initial consult with me was fantastic.  He took time to explain every single aspect of the care, the X-rays and what he felt was best: which was not to perform chemo but rather have Dr. Collins examine him and possibly perform surgery.  He was very patient in discussing quality of life for an animal versus quantity of life.  Ultimately Dr. Collins did recommend surgery on his ear.  They had to remove the entire ear canal due to the way the growths were coming out, but they managed to seal the wound area up and while my cat no longer has hearing there, he also doesn't have an infected ear constantly either.  I was asked to bring him back for a follow up and I was given very clear instructions on how to care for him post-surgery.From beginning to end my experiences at Animerge were extremely positive and I would have no issue bringing my cat back for treatment in the future.

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

There aren't adequate words to convey my gratitude or my appreciation for all of the people who work there. Thank you for saving my "baby girl." Read Less

First my family and I had an emergency this past weekend where unfortunately we had to make the hardest decision to put our Sammy to sleep. This was our first dog and it was very emotional for us to come to this decision. The staff and especially Dr. Andrea Freeman was very compassionate and explained to us exactly what was going on and allowed us to make the difficult decision. This is still fresh in my mind and yesterday we received a very heartwarming card from Dr. Andrea with pictures of Sammy's paw print. We really appreciated their compassion and understanding. I have to agree that Animerge is a wonderful hospital. Our Coon Hound Cooper was vomiting with blood in his loose stool and we brought him down at 12:30 am.

The staff was very polite, helpful and caring from our first phone call to our actual visit with our dog, Loki. Dr. Barbara Guy clearly explained our options for care and the pros and cons to each.

Let's face it. Visiting an Animal Hospital is not high on anyone's list of things to do. But the folks at Animerge make the process very easy. Great competent caring Vets and for the most part, nice/helpful staff behind the front desk.We recently utilized the surgical services of Dr. Collins. We and most importantly, our cat, are extremely satisfied.I'm not a big fan of offering incentives for good reviews.  Animerge offers a gift card for good Yelp reviews. Keep it. Just take care of us by rendering excellent care to our animals when they need it. That's all that is required. Our cat thanks you very much. Read Less
