Extremely disappointed and upset with Sayrebook Animal Hospital. A week and a half ago made a same day appointment for our cat, as our primary vet clinic was closed and he had what was becoming a severe eye infection. The appointment was with the owner, Dr. Chiosi. We informed Dr. Chiosi about our cat, who we adopted last summer after he had spent the last few months to year as a stray. Our cat had been seen 3 times (initial check ups and follow ups) with our primary vet, of course having the appropriate blood work and checks. Most recently he was seen in November as a follow up.
Dr. Chiosi insisted we do blood work testing for FIV, which had been done. We felt it unnecessary but as he is the professional, we agreed with his recommendation. Dr. Chiosi also insisted our cat had ear mites, once again a check that had been performed numerous times prior and turned up negative. He attempted to show us but we were unable to spot any. Once again, we went along with his professional thoughts and had him treated. Dr. Chiosi then made the clear statement that the cat should have a dental exam (we knew this and had it planned with our primary vet), however Dr. Chiosi insisted that one of his Doctors, “Dr. Bill”, offered FREE dental consultations. We jumped on the opportunity as the doctor made it a point to state that Dr. Bill had a passion for dental work. We decided to book both of our cats a simultaneous appointment.
The consult went great. We couldn’t have been happier with the appointment and Dr. Bill, until as we were prepping to leave, we asked to make sure there was no charge. We were anticipating a new patient fee as our other cat had not been there before, but of course no fee for the consults. Unfortunately that was not the case, and we were charged $50 for each cat.
I paid, although my judgement was to refuse and speak to a manager in the morning. I actually returned not 10 minutes later and apparently Dr. Bill had left. The young woman working the desk, while keeping a calm demeanor was extremely displeased that I returned. She insisted that Dr. Chiosi only works Monday, Friday and Saturdays. We saw him on a Sunday. I fully intent to speak to not only the office manager but Dr. Bill and Dr. Chiosi. I demand to know why they are stating they offer free dental consults. I will be looking to escalate this further.
