Dr. Maier and her staff are so amazing and kind with my dog.  My dog can become a terror when she goes to the vet, and everyone at the Animal Hospital of Somerdale is so patient with her.  There are multiple vets closer to my house, but I choose to drive the distance to see Dr Maier. I can gladly say I will never take my pets anywhere besides Animal Hospital of Somerdale. Dr. Maier is absolutely amazing at what she does. I've taken 3 of my dogs to her and my cat. She has performed multiple surgeries and procedures on all of my animals with no disappointment. She was able to keep my first dog alive for 6 months past what another vet had told us. She is willing to drop what she is doing in the case of an emergency. Her staff is very supportive, friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about the animals in their care. Dr. Maier and her staff were wonderful.  I had to bring my cat in for yearly vaccinations, and a medical issue.  Needless to say, my cat wasn't very happy.  Dr. Maier and her staff handled the issues with ease, they explained everything needed, and what I needed to take care of.  I couldn't have been happier.  I recommend Dr. Maier to everyone!!! Dr. Maier came in on her day off to treat my cat who got a UTI from being overfed while I was on vacation. She saw him within an hour, saving me from having to go to UPenn for his treatment. I just brought my dog here to be neutered and I had a pretty awful experience. The staff is extremely unfriendly. When I called to ask about the dog's status, again they were rude. After the surgery, I came by to pick up the dog and the poor dog was in a crate in their basement. I'm not sure if this is normal, but I was not happy. I will never bring my dog back here again. Dr. Maier is the worst vet I ever had the misfortune of seeing. I was searching for a vet who handled exotics and she seemed to get good reviews. Obviously reviews aren't always reliable!I took my hairless rat to her because he developed a lump that doubled in size in less than a week. I told her the growth was soft and movable and from what I've read on hairless rats these are 2 sure signs of a cyst. After doing a 30 second exam that I was charged $55 for, and not ever attempting to aspirate it. She informed me she was almost certain it was cancer and I should do a, close to $400, surgery ASAP. I assumed she was right and scheduled the surgery. Yesterday when I took Irving out of his cage I noticed a small black scabby area on the lump. This was yet another indication of a cyst or abscess. I called to inform her what I found and that I didn't want go through with the surgery due to the current change. I asked her receptionist to please have her call me to tell me why she would jump to putting a small animal like that under anesthesia without being certain it was necessary, and also how to proceed from here. She never had the courtesy to return my call. Obviously her concern is the bottom line not the animals welfare.Read Less
