I was very unhappy with my experience here. My dog fractured her 4th digit on her back paw, and after xrays the vet told me she needed to be sedated and put into a fiberglass cast. I consented to this as it was the only treatment option that was discussed. After 4 days of the cast being on the bottom piece fell off. I spoke to the vet who did the procedure and he told me that this was not uncommon, and can happen once the swelling goes down. I asked if shed need to be sedated again and have another whole cast placed, and was informed that was the case. If I had known the original cast would have lasted less then a week, I would have went elsewhere for a second opinion. After the cast was placed only then did they tell me that shed need weekly follow up visits and bi weekly xrays for up to 8 weeks. I think this is a detail that should of been discussed before the procedure was completed. I also would not have spent 1,000 dollars on a fix that wasn't expected to last. When I told the vet I could not afford another 1,000 dollars considering that's what I spent 5 days ago he informed me it wouldnt be that price because xrays wouldnt be done at this visit. after checking my original receipt and subtracting the cost of imaging the casting procedure with everything included still comes to over 500 dollars. After getting second opinions from other vet offices I realized that there was other options for my dog. I overall felt mislead and misinformed, and I am writing this in hope that other people will experience more transparency in the future during their visits. Read Less

I want to thank the Dr.s and staff at Swedesboro Animal Hospital for the care and treatment of my best friend Trinity Phillips. I rarely write any negative notes to any one but I am feeling so frustrated right now. Our dog Brandy had been a long time patient of yours for years...but due to distance and financial reasons we took brandy to another animal hospital ..who at first seemed fine..but we took her to 3 visits over a 5 week period with concerns about her eye and smell of mouth ....only to be told she was just getting old. But things never improved and on the 3rd visit we finally find out that Brandy had an ulcer on her eye and a infected tumor in her mouth. I can't tell you how bad I felt about changing vets because of money. My husband and I decided that we were bringing her back to you even though the charges are so much higher ...we learned our lesson and know Brandy deserves better ....so we brought her in on May 5, 2017..the Doctor (Katie) was awesome she explained everything in detail about how the ulcer was healing but not attaching to the eye...she gave us serum made from brandys blood for her eye and said to bring her back in 5 days to make sure it was healing properly. She then examined Brandys mouth and gave us our options and her opinion of what she thought was best. Which was to bring her back to see if infection was gone and to have X-rays done to rule out any cancer anywhere else before doing surgery because of her age. She is 11 ..We agreed and when we left we were very happy with our decision to come back. We did our best to make sure Brandy got all her medicine as prescribed ...we had thought that the infection in her mouth was clearing up because the smell was getting better and as for the eye we could see a change in it but she was still tearing a lot and pawing at it quite a bit. On May 10th we returned for Brandys follow up visit. The vets name on the invoice was Kimberly....she seemed very confused with just about every part of the exam. She barely got Brandys eye open to look in but stated she thinks it's getting better...when we explained that Katie thought it was healing but not to the eye ....she looked puzzled ...we went on to explained that Brandy had been pawing at her eye more was still tearing up and that she had gotten sick in the middle of the night and is not eating right. She again stated she thinks she sees scar tissue so it must be healing....she seemed to be finished...when I asked how she could tell if it was adhering to her eye she didn't know so my husband explained how the stain test showed the die between the eye ...once again she looked puzzled ....we suggested maybe doing another stain test ...she wasn't sure it be ok because the stain would still show from 5 days ago....but she did do it....but after was still unsure if it was healing correctly...her words were I " think" it is....?? Then my husband reminded her about Brandys tumor in her mouth and she again looked confused ..she did look at it and said she "thinks"the infection was gone. ...when we inquired about what we should do next and asked how serious this could be ....she was no help....we were scared and just wanted to know how to proceed....she just told us to make an appointment to have her removed and biopsy..... we asked about doing the X-rays first to see if the cancer was anywhere else she said you can do that....just make the appointment to have her X-rays done and if they see no cancer they will continue on with removing the tumor for biopsy..... we left feeling like we ourselves did the exam and to make things even more frustrating when I went to check out having to pay $83 for an exam that we felt like we were coaching the doctor through....and proceeded to schedule the appt. for X-rays and surgery ..the girl at the desk who was very nice....said we can't do that ..Brandy needs a consult and X-rays first ..which are only done on Tuesday's and Thursday's...and surgeries are done on Friday. I don't know if this doctor is new but I must say it was a very disappointing visit and would request that we see someone else in the future. Sincerely Scott & Stella Gesner...and Brandy too. Dr. Magazu has been great with my cat. He helped my cat when another vet completely misdiagnosed him. There was no unnecessary testing done. He was more concerned with getting to the root cause of my cat's issue. After the reason of what was causing his problem was determined, then, if any tests were necessary he would do them. Those tests did not end up being necessary and for that I am appreciative because that tells me this place was just not out to take my money like a lot of places do. My sister and a friend recommended Swedesboro Animal Hospital to me and I'm thankful they did. I, in turn, have recommended it to two other friends as well and, from what they told me, they were happy as well. Read Less

I really dont like speaking negatively about a place, unless I am completely wrong done by. I was hopeful they would try to make it right since there were so many mess ups on their end, but unfortunately, the only option I have is to make others aware. We took our dog in for lump on leg and because she was limping. We asked for shots to be done as well. They muzzled her and took her in the back. Then they brought her back and advised everything was done and lump examined. They then took a sample of what they indicated as a cyst for cancer testing after she came back into the room. $300+ dollars paid for this visit. A few days later, they called and advised its infected and needs antibiotics., but appears to be cancer free. We placed an order online to try to save a little money. SAH would not call back site with script and we could not get it ordered for this reason. Called SAH. They advised they have the meds. I went to pick it up. They couldnt find the script. 30 minutes of waiting later, they got a new script written, but didnt have the meds there. They sent me across town to wedgewood in Pureland. Wedgewood said they cannot do it and wondered why they sent me there for that particular antibiotic as they are a compound pharmacy and it would have to be custom made, but unavailable in the doses they wanted and also not in pill form. Also, it would take about 5 days for it to be made. 45 minutes later and lots of calls and waiting on hold, Swedesboro hospital admitted they messed up and said they had it. Drove back across town to the hospital and picked it up. I thought that was enough. Our dog started limping again about a week later. She had been diagnosed with lymes in the past. They asked us to bring her back in and have her tested again for lymes. After they confirmed the testing was positive, they said they couldnt give her antibiotics for lymes because they didnt know if that was why she was limping and she would need another exam (we already took her in for this reason when this began). We went to another vet for assistance as at this point, we were concerned for her well being. We just went to ask for paperwork on her shots and they said the notes show it was supposed to have been done, but they werent sure if it actually was and they would need to check with the vet. Vet calls about 30-60 minutes later and said it wasnt done due to infection (the infection they were unaware of at the visit and called us about a few days after the appointment). They FORGOT to tell us they didnt do the shots, but as of now have told us we werent charged for it. We advised we are supposed to drop off our dog in 30 minutes for boarding and are leaving the country. They offered to board her for twice the amount and refused to budge in any way for the inconvenience. This is supposed to be a top notch hospital, and charges top notch prices as a result. I expect the best service. This unfortunately, has actually been the worst I have ever experienced. We are removing our dog, cat and bird from here immediately. Nothing has been done to ensure customer satisfaction other than a couple "sorry"s over the phone. Completely unacceptable. Im left here wondering if she received her shots, but they didnt mark it down or if she didnt receive it and now needs it. They said they gave her her shots? What a mess!!! Read Less

I've never written a review like this and normally I hold my tongue but I had a seriously awful encounter withthis vet and almost 2 1/2 years later it is still haunting me!! I had an incident with my 12 week old puppy. She was very I'll, throwing up not eating and not being able to go to the bathroom and when she did it was involintary. When I first noticed symptoms it was late at night and my normal vet was closed. I took her to this swedesboro location late at night and initially the staff was nice. They checked her out and after doing some blood work and multiple tests told me that her earlier mentioned symptoms were from a case of worms. For a dog of her age I understood. Our bill for that night including medication was close to $400. Told she should be better in a couple days with medication we went on our way. Her symptoms did not get better. We took her back 2 days later by appointment and they did some more tests. Some were repeated from the previous visit including a test for parvo. Our poor girl tested positive for it and I was told it was potentially fatal and I could not take her home. She remained there for 2 days. In those 2 days I tried multiple times to call and keep in contact with her assigned care and only 1 occasion was I able to have a real conversation with someone who told me she would not make it and she should be put down immediately. I contacted my normal veterinarian whom Ive used for other animals and explained the situation. They told me to bring her immediately. When I let swedes animal hospital know I would be relieving her from their care the woman I spoke with was quite short with me and told me that she would not let us leave with her until our bill was payed in full. $1800. In 3 days $1800. And that is not including the $400 spent on the first visit. After we settled with the rude woman at the counter they made us park on the side of the building and brought our girl out through a side door only to hand her over to me and barely say a word when she turned and walked away shaking out her shirt. When we arrived at Cross Keys Animal Hospital in e were treated with care and they had a room ready for us before we got there. They even stayed open late for us to bring her in. They close at 7 we didn't arrive until almost 8. And the veterinarian staying late to do the necessary testing for a pup in her condition. The next morning the vet called and gave me a run down on what was actually happening with our girl.At this point it was a lost cause. Due to faulty testing and not administering the right care from Swedesboro Animal Hospital our girl had to be put down on Valentines Day. I regret ever letting Swedesboro Animal Hospital near our girl and taking her back and leaving her in careless hands. The worst part is..I notified them of the outcome with our girl and I was never offered an apology or a kind regards word. They still send me emails. With our girls name on them. Including birthday emails. As many times as I have requested not to be contacted and even called and spoke to someone to have my name removed they still send them.   I will never recommend these careless people. I'm sorry to our girl for leaving her in such crude hands. Read Less

I have been taking my cats here for 5 years, since I moved to the area, and overall have been very pleased with the service and staff. I have even brought several of my mom's cats here after they had been receiving inferior treatment elsewhere and now those pets are healthy and thriving. One cat had severe mouth ulcers and gingivitis which was not responding to the medications another vet had prescribed. He was near to dying from starvation when I brought him in for emergency care. Dr. Collier kept him on medications and close observation for several months, did a full dental extraction and now the cat is healthy, happy and regaining weight. Another young kitten I brought in had a severe eye ulcer which another vet would only treat by removing the eye. Dr. Magazu performed a procedure which allowed the kitten to keep the eye and retain most of his vision. I also appreciate that while surgery expenses are high (similar to other facilities), follow-up check up appointments are not expensive. My one quibble is I have sometimes had difficulty getting results back from diagnostic testing without repeated calls trying to chase down staff. I realize they are a busy practice but sometimes it can be frustrating waiting on results. Read Less

Both my family and myself have used Swedesboro Veterinary Hospital, now St. Francis Veterinary Center since we moved here in 1998. We have brought all of our pets here, and have never had less than a five star experience, over the years we have been seen by each doctor in the office, and each one is fantastic. I had to bring in my cat today, as he had become ill, and took a severe turn for the worse overnight. I called in a panic, and they squeezed me in to see Dr. Schori. The employees working the front desk were very nice, and we were quickly brought back into an exam room. Dr. Schori was extremely kind, and explained everything that was going on in a way in which I could understand. I unfortunately had to put my cat to sleep, and I was given as much time as I needed to make the decision, and say goodbye. In no way did I feel rushed, or did I feel as if anybody was trying to influence my opinion. All of my questions were answered fully, and as heartbreaking of a decision it was, I knew it was the right one. Words cannot express how much it meant to me that I was able to hold Bentley as he was put to sleep. The service I received was phenomenal, and I would recommend this place to everyone. We were long-time customers of SAH. My wife used to live in the area, always brought her dogs there, and we thought the service was great. So much so that we paid their premium prices and drove all the way down from the city. The vets were always super-friendly and knowledgeable. We even brought our one dog here for an expensive tooth extraction. In the last year or so, service has gone drastically downhill. We would show up early for appointments, and still wait 20+ minutes in the waiting room, and another 20+ minutes in the exam room. One Sunday, my dog's medicine that he needs daily hadn't shown up in the mail, so I called up and asked to come get an emergency supply of a few pills. In addition to charging 1.5x-2x the price we found elsewhere, there was also a $10 dispensing fee, and then a $25 "emergency" fee on top of that.Despite the fact we're regular customers who have spent a considerable amount of money there (the aforementioned surgery, plus no less than $400 per visit multiple times per year), were in a somewhat critical jam, and drove a good distance just to patronize this particular vet, they weren't willing to waive either of the two fees. The receptionist explained that it's to prevent people from calling in for minor things in off-hours... a situation which this was not.Being agitated that I had to pay for the privilege of paying for 14 pills what we were paying for 90 elsewhere, I commented that it was "fucking ridiculous". The next day when the lead vet called to discuss my dog's prescription with my wife, she commented that it was inappropriate for me to be cursing at her receptionist. That lecture about my "inappropriate language" was the last straw. I'm clearly agitated and frustrated, and this receptionist complains to her boss that I cursed? Give. Me. A. Break.I'm sad to end a relationship with a vet we liked, but ever-increasing wait times, service that is no longer worth a premium, unwillingness to be flexible with regular customers who are in a jam, and endless nickel and diming with fees means that we have switched to a new vet in the city.

Your pets are part of your family, and here they are treated as such. Read Less
